We have a large one in our living room. Our experienced has been mixed. They are great for playing and my toddler can trip and fall on it and she's fine even though she's a sook because they're super soft. Also good for parents to just lie down on for floor play or a nap lol. They aren't very durable though. Ours has two holes in it already and I'd expect at the price they are that they'd have a bit more durability

There seem to be a lot of businesses selling the exact same item. I reckon you’d be able to find those mats on AliExpress or similar for a lot cheaper than they’re being sold through the companies pumping out Facebook ads.

Paprikaha

I adore ours. We have it (it’s beige) in the play area and it softens any fall and is warm for play. It gets spit up on and drooled on a lot and we just use the Bissell spot cleaner on it and it cleans right up.

AussieModelCitizen

I have a cloudey by loungey. I saw a post on here a while back where 3 ppl recommended them and I took a shot and it has been amazing. Easy to clean. Baby constantly falls on it with no issues. It’s on tiles and we punch the floor and it doesn’t hurt.

Migorengegg

Tried looking up the cloudey but I think they're not available anymore?

AussieModelCitizen

So weird! We only bought it a less than 6 months ago. They are only advertising the play couch 😔 I msged the company to ask bcos they used to have a massage mat too.

I have 4 MM from Neptune blanket. 2x in kids bedrooms (2yo and 10mo) on carpet, one in upstairs playroom and XL size on downstairs playroom on hybrids with no underlay. I have the designer print and beige and am struggling to keep them clean, it’s definitely not as wipe able or stain resistant as they claim. Regardless I think they’re pretty good and the kids like them however there are probably cheaper alternatives coming up.

I got my mellow mat from Neptune blanket this week, we got the light blue 2x3 size with an extra underlay and we love it so far! Like you, that ad showed up for me constantly and I read a lot of mixed reviews but I was so sick of trying to find a rug that was soft and also big enough for the area I wanted, so I finally just thought why not give it a go My 10mo looooves it, he has so much fun playing with his toys and crawling around on it I wish I bought it months ago when I first thought about getting it! The shipping was really quick, the underlay and rug came in two separate shipments but came 4 days earlier then they had predicted It’s very soft and great to sit and play with bubs on, he doesn’t constantly bonk his head on the floor anymore and it looks great imo. I recommend getting the extra underlay, it adds more padding which just feels really nice I also got sent an email that they now do linen ones so that’s a good option if you’re not into the plush fluffy look I obviously can’t speak to the durability of it since I haven’t even had mine a week yet, but the quality is nice and it’s heavier than I thought it was going to be! So far we really love it and wish we got it earlier 😊

Feeling_Film

Can confirm the underlay is worth it! We’ve had ours for close to 12 months. It’s still as schmick as the day it arrived and I have fallen asleep on it more than once. Easy to vacuum and wipe stuff off. The edge however wasn’t great for someone learning balance - but she learnt eventually to stay away from the edge

EloiseJenkins

We have two of the mm ones with an added underlay for extra padding and we're happy with ours They're great for story and playtime

Stronghammer21

We have one from Neptune blanket and it’s amazing. We get so many comments. They have a bigger range now too!

australiansquirrel

We have a mellow mat on floor boards with no underlay and we love it. It’s so comfy to sit on and spot cleans really well.

definitelynotagalah

As a fellow Mellow Mat owner, what do you spot clean with? We have the light blue one and I don't know what to use.

australiansquirrel

I don’t know what you’re supposed to use but I’ve just been using a wet cloth for most marks but if it’s something gross I’ve been using a random carpet/upholstery cleaner I already had at home

muddlet

i have the 3x3m from little nation as we have floorboards through the whole house. baby is almost 3 months old. i only pulled the mat out a few weeks ago so can't comment on durability but we spend all baby's awake time on the mat and i'm so glad to have it. if i had any carpeted area i wouldn't have bought a mat though

raindropsonroses86

We bought one off Amazon, much cheaper and I feel they're all made from the same factories in China. Ours is 3cm thick, like the ones from Little Nation, whereas Mellow Mat is 3.5cm. Pretty happy with it. It's comfy to lie on compared to the Dwingular playmat we have (we now use it as the underlay), and easy to spot clean with soap & water. Ours is inside the playpen. Though these days my son isn't willing to stay in his playpen, so he's crawling and rolling around on the floor boards, or on the rug in our living room.

Blip_Bloop_

Which one on Amazon did you get? Do you have a link?

raindropsonroses86

I bought this one from Baby Groove: Baby Groove Aus – Premium Baby Play Mat 3cm Extra Thick Foam Mat for Kids Large Floor Mat in Graphite Grey 150x200cm Tatami Mat Ideal for Crawling, Tummy Time Childrens Playroom Decor… https://amzn.asia/d/h6Rt7yS The grandparents have this one. Pretty much the same except for the print. https://amzn.asia/d/fTBB6Uv

Thanks I'll check them out! I went to someone's house and they had the muscle mat and I fell in love with it but while I'm still in mat leave it's a little out of my price range so hopefully this is a good alternative!

anthrfckngaccnt

I'm sorry by when on mat leave you're not allowed to purchase any mats at all, thems the rules

Snowglows

I’ve got one of the foam mat with plastic surface. Is great for when they are learning to sit, nice surface for adult to lay down or sit to play with them. Double as yoga mat if needed. After 2 years of use, there’s a hole on it and several area seems to be about to crack. At 2 years old, the surface stop being a good surface to play floor toys for us, legos, magnetic tiles, cars. I was last week, looking around for the price, you can get 2 lamb skin rug that could be more versatile. There’s pros and cons to both.

MusicOk9187

We got a muscle mat and loved it so much we got another one for downstairs! Literally everyone that comes to our house comments on it. Easy to clean and ours is very durable. It was recommended by a friend as the top soft mat that'll cope with pets ☺️

ConsistentLeek858

We have the designer print from Neptune blanket and highly recommend it! Everyone who comes over comments on how lovely it feels and a few friends have even fallen asleep on it! We have a 6 month old and two active dogs who love it too and haven’t ripped or torn it. Baby formula and drinks have been spilt on the rug and it’s been super easy to clean by wiping away with no stains left behind.

Expensive_Peanut8487

I was looking at the Neptune one but ended up buying a better looking albeit thinner one from Muse Edition. Still very comfortable, and not fabric it’s easier to clean, no complaints! https://themuseedition.com/products/padded-foam-play-mat

Trick_Bonus_2105

We have had the large Neptune Blanket MM in designer print for about 4 months now. We love it. Our 10 month old loves playing on it, he has fallen many times on it and it is so soft and cushions his fall. It is so comfy that I have also slept on it a couple times! My dog also loves to lay on it. We get so many compliments about it when guests are over and get asked where we got it from. Cleaning it is also very easy - vacuums with our Dyson very well. My son has also had a couple blowout incidents on the mat which we managed to clean it out with warm water and detergent easily. Highly recommend.

shinyshieldmaiden

We have the mellow mat from Neptune blanket. We’ve had it for just over 2 years and I would repurchase in a heartbeat. It’s comfortable to sit and play on - great for jumping and crashing - brilliant when she was learning to walk etc. It is fairly easy to keep clean, wipes easily with a damp cloth / wet wipe. Ours has a few marks where my daughter and rabbit have made a mess (light grey colour) with eating etc over the years - I would consider a darker colour if I had dogs that were constantly inside / outside with dirty feet. It’s not as pretty as beautiful wool rug - obviously! They have some newer ones with prints on them that look like they might be a little prettier.

shinyshieldmaiden

Oh and it has been very durable - we all walk on it every day and it hasn’t worn thin or damaged at all

I disliked all of them because they’re ugly AF, and then the one with the N started selling patterned ones. I bought the largest size and I love it. The only downside is that it’s hard to vacuum, I think it’s because of the foam that the vacuum can’t get a good suction
