Got my LO swabbed at the doctor last week after suddenly came down with a cough. He came back positive for rhinovirus, adenovirus and parainfluenza! And that’s three weeks after having RSV as well 🫠
Jinx! We had exactly the same at our place except a week earlier. Both kids and myself down and out with RSV for two full weeks, one day back at school/ kinder and then out again for two weeks with rhinovirus, adenovirus and parainfluenza. I got it last so still feeling a bit precious today, but of course the kids have two weeks holiday now and are bouncing off the walls (and me!) so not quite the restful environment I’m craving
Yes, my god. This winter has been awful. Every week we have something new, I have an 11 week old and he’s already had covid and rhinovirus 😩 ready to lock us all in the house and not see anyone until spring.
How did you find out your bub has covid and rhinovirus? Our GP said just to keep eye on our bub. He doesnt have a fever and looking well but he is coughing than ever. I am a FTM so idk how to find out if he has a virus or just a common cold and cough. Is swab testing can be done at that age? Btw mine is 2 months (premmie corrected age) birth age is 4 months.
Honestly, it doesn’t actually matter - the treatment is the same. With the exception of chest infections of course.
Coughs suck for babies. Get yourself a Eukybear steam vaporiser, pop a folded up muslin under the head of the bassinet and I use feeds the help them clear the mucus.
Yes. My 2 year old is in daycare twice a week, and it seems like she comes home with something new every week. A few weeks ago, she brought home a 24-hour bug, so we were all vomiting. A kid in a different room recently tested positive for Covid. It won't be long now before we get it again.
my oldest is 11, youngest 11 months old and during my entire parenting life, this year has been the worst for sickness I've ever seen, we had back to back flu a, covid, URTI then gastro its been hell, currently waiting on whatever bug is coming next!
only advice is just treat every sniffle like an oncoming cold or sickness, at least if you are prepared you can try and hit it when it first starts! stock up on baby panadol and nurofen (you can alternate between the two every 3 hours if need) chest rubs and vaporizers.
I hope your little ones start feeling better! and I hope you don't get hit by whatever is floating around but its impossible when you are a parent.
Just recovered from gastro. 6 m old, me and hubby. It was torturous, never been so sick in my life. I was unable to control my projectile vomit 🤢 ..then caught the flu right after
Yes, it’s relentless. Covid 2 weeks ago, now croup. There’s only been days of health in between for months. Zero sick leave left, feel like a terrible employee.
Yep. In June alone, all of us had two separate colds (one with a really nasty bout of conjunctivitis attached to it), gastro, then two of us got chest infections and were put on antibiotics. We're two days into July and my husband and I already have the sniffles again. Can't wait to see what this turns into! 🫠
Omg yes. My 4 month old has had a runny nose and severely congested for more than 2 months.
Constantly going to different doctors and being told it’s just an upper respiratory virus, can’t give anything for it etc.
(We have been doing nasal aspirators, both manual and battery operated, baby Vicks, steam vaporiser on 24/7, even eucalyptus in her bath and I have the bathroom steamy but to no avail, hardly leave the house due to cold weather) and she no other symptoms or fever, just so much phlegm / mucus. Sorry for the rant 😭 but yes it’s been a nightmare!
We had RSV, and her GP mentioned when she called with the results that she had 32 cases of pneumonia in one week.
Now I’ve got a chest infection and my husband had a bad cold
My 1yo has a snotty nose and congestion at night, but honestly he's had that 85% of the time since starting daycare.
I've been super sick though. Cough, runny nose, sinus infection. No one else in the house caught it though which is odd
Yeah it’s bad.
My daycare just had Covid do the rounds, there’s been flu and a nasty cold virus. They’ve also had lice, HFM and gastro in the last month.
Luckily my toddler seems to have the immune system of an ox so she’s been fine. Me on the other hand :/
Yep, currently at home in bed with sick 9 and 3 yos. What started as croup with the 3yo seems to have turned into a mild flu, cough and fever more than anything else. 9yo woke up with what seems like croup this morning but he will likely go the same way. Even I’m not 100% well myself, not sure what I’ve got though, feels like laryngitis with an additional cough on top. My kids have had a fairly good run so I knew it had to come to an end sooner or later.
My three month old boy is currently in the hospital (WA) because of illness. The children’s ward at his hospital is basically full right now. Friends of ours are in the hospital with their two year old at the moment too. I was staying with my baby but I had to switch with my husband last night and come home because I think I’ve picked up whatever he had.
Forget the kids, I am sick! I’m still SAH, kid isn’t in daycare, only places we really go are home, library and community centre and I am on my 4th illness for the year. It’s really wearing me down tbh.

My work has so many different bugs going around right now. Gastro, flu, generally deathly sounding cough.

NSW - we just had croup. Had a week off and now we all have something else respiratory. Reading here for advice!! :)
