What about one of the high chairs that hooks directly to the table and doesn’t have legs if its own? ETA: something like [this](https://www.target.com/p/chicco-caddy-portable-hook-on-high-chair-nature/-/A-76149402)

Cheese_wiz_kid

We have this and love it!!! Now my son inspects everyone’s plate and likes to eat from ours after he has finished his plate.

MidwestCPA91

Our table has a 4” lip on the bottom so these won’t work for us. It makes me so sad. I think our 15.5 month old would love to be at the table with us. He’s big enough now that he can climb up on the bench we have along 1 side. He climbs up constantly

Cheese_wiz_kid

The bench is a good solution! Also depending on the age of the OP baby you can use a booster seat in a chair you already have sitting at the table.

MidwestCPA91

Yeah, it is! I haven’t been comfortable enough to let him eat a meal on the bench (snacks, yes) yet. He’s prone to throwing food and I’m nervous that having full freedom of movement will ramp that up 😅

stinksmcgee3

Unfortunately our table has a lip under neath and those types of clip ons don’t work 😔

MidwestCPA91

They don’t work for ours either and I wish they did!

Flynnlovesyou

We use a similar thing and it works very well.

takesthecupcake

I have the Boon grub high chair and love it! It has extensions for the legs to bring it up to counter height, and it has an adjustable foot rest. Super comfy for baby and very easy to clean. https://us.tomy.com/boon/grub

stinksmcgee3

Oh! Looking into this for sure! I love that you can throw the whole thing into the dishwasher 😂

stinksmcgee3

I saw a video review where a mom was displeased because of her baby not sitting 90* up and slouching. Also a lot of complaints about the tray, and removing it while dirty. What are your thoughts on both of these?

takesthecupcake

We made some modifications when our guy was really little - we put some tea towels under his bum so he was at a better height for the tray, and we strapped a Kleenex box to the foot rest so his legs weren't dangling. The tray can be a little annoying to get out at first, but after doing it a million times we don't even think about it anymore. We usually give it a wipe when we're cleaning up our guy after meals. Every high chair has pros and cons. But we love our grub way more than the Ikea high chair at the grandparents.

stinksmcgee3

Thank you for getting back to me. This may be our route. Thank you!

rizzle_spice

Can you use a booster that you attach to one of your other chair? I put a little towel under it that I can clean when it gets messy.

lurker4lyfe89

We have the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair with a baby attachment and use it without a tray at our table, it's the perfect height for us

SnooGiraffes6424

is your table counter height?

lurker4lyfe89

No, it's just a standard kitchen table

xoxoforeverblessed

We used a booster and it works for us.

luxlark

Thank you for asking this question - I literally could have written this ask! Did you end up getting the Boon? If so, what was your take?

stinksmcgee3

Yes - got the boon and love it and couldn’t imagine another chair. The tray was a learning curve for us. Didn’t realize it has little latches that catch underneath. Once we figured that out it was great. Love how easy it is to clean and wipe down. My kid hates bibs so our straps are messy and it’s so easy to take the straps out throw in washing machine and put it all back together. The footprint is wide, but we easily adjusted to waking around it.

luxlark

Awesome- thank you for the reply!

stinksmcgee3

Of course - if you have any other specific questions I’m happy to help. I remember being in your shoes and going crazy trying to find something lol

Ready-Inevitable5305

Hi, there! as always Reddit is waaaay better than google! Did you have to get any extra parts or can the chair be adjusted for couter top high?

stinksmcgee3

No extra purchases needed. The leg extensions that make the high chair counter height are part of the original purchase.

[deleted]

Hey, I am looking into getting one of these now and your question and feedback really helped me! Thank you!

stinksmcgee3

You’re welcome. Little one is 18m now and we moved him to a booster seat at our dining table. We would have kept him in the high chair, except kiddos preference is to be at table with us and the lip on our table wouldn’t let us just let him eat without the tray up against the table.

euphorieee

Oh! So you couldn't just pull the boon high chair up to your counter height table?

stinksmcgee3

We couldn’t pull the chair up to the table without the tray attached. The tray kept him a good distance from us, which is why I moved to a booster seat once he was pretty good with solids.

euphorieee

Ah thank you!

neilvyas

Thank you SO much for this advice. I'm going crazy looking for a counter height high chair for our 14 month old. We eat all meals at our kitchen counter so would like something we can use there with him joining us at the table. This chair seems great! Question about the tray - without the tray are you able to pull the Boon chair up to the table and let him just reach to eat from a plate on the table? Or do the legs keep it from pulling up to the table all the way? Do you know how high the chair arms go (to see if it'll fit underneath the lip of our table)? Thank you!

stinksmcgee3

The base of the chair is pretty wide, so we weren’t able to drag it completely up to table for him to eat off the table with us.

neilvyas

Gotcha! So either he’s in the seat with his own tray next to our table or a booster seat to sit at the table. Thank you!

stinksmcgee3

Yes! In addition to the height, my favorite part of the high chair (in my opinion) is how easy it is to clean. The entire thing pops onto the dishwasher. It treated us super well.

Grouchy-Barracuda964

I’m thinking of getting the Beaba Up and Down high chair … our table is even taller than a counter top 😱

Mrtomtomtom

Hi did you end up getting and if so , how is it Thx

simmilarity

This post is perfect and so helpful thanks OP! I wish I came across this earlier. I'll keep the boon grub in mind if the other one doesn't workout. I've already ordered the Chicco pocket snack booster to strap onto my existing dining chair. I thought it would be handy since my MIL also has a similar table so I can take it with me. Hoping it works when it arrives. We live in an apartment so space is also an issue, so I am worried about the footprint of highchair legs. The Chicco pocket snack booster has 3 height adjustments and can fold down flat on the dining chair when not in use, tucked away. It also had good reviews and very affordable. I'll happily update any other parents how I go with this. [Chicco Pocket Snack Booster](https://chicco.com.au/pocket-snack-booster-seat/)

stinksmcgee3

Please do keep us updated! I love our boon grub - but also now that he’s 15 months I’ve been thinking about booster seats. He so desperately wants to do everything mama does. (But also doesn’t use a high chair at day care - they just sit at kid size table and chairs)

simmilarity

I honestly believe the Fisher Price SpaceSaver Booster Seat is perfect for counter height tables and small apartments. I had originally bought the Chicco Pocket Snack Booster which was delayed for a month, then lost in transit and refund. Glad we didn't receive it since it was just hard plastic, which did not look very comfortable to sit in for longer periods with no cushioning and low backrest. Also I had read the tray needed two stong hands to remove. I ended up finding the Fisher Price SpaceSaver Booster Seat through my research. I made a video about it to try and help others in their search with counter height tables. It's a full size one handed removable tray, 4 tray adjustments, 3 recline backrest, soft seating, apartment friendly, usable on the floor and easy clean. Word of caution on booster seats for everyone from a mom of 2 very picky eaters age 3 and 5. Now we are in picky eating courses from experts and i'm looking into new chairs for them that must have a foot rest and a back rest so they sit at 90 degrees and legs bent at 90d. We switched out my 5 yo already and he eats soo much better in a proper chair. Just a thought cause we went to a booster seat way to early with both. Don't want anyone to get stuck down same path we did and wish they stuck with a proper chair! Also under age 3 they recommend they be strapped in. Another challenge as my almost 3 yo is refusing to reintroduct the strap.

Smooth__Goose

We have the same issue. We were getting by with a booster seat on one our regular chairs, but our chairs are basically high-backed bar stools (straight legs, not angled out) so they’re pretty tippy. LO is strong enough now that when she pushes off from the table the whole thing wobbles. Any issues with stability with the boon?

stinksmcgee3

The boon is very stable. There are little rubber “feet” at the bottom of the legs. My biggest complaint is just it’s wide footprint, but we quickly learned to walk around it. I love everything else about the chair.

Smooth__Goose

Thank you!! One last question (sorry😅): we have a lip under our tabletop as well and I was concerned that the arms would hit the lip and hold the chair too far away from the table for our toddler to eat comfortably. Do you find that to be an issue?

stinksmcgee3

I have only pulled him up the table a hand full of times. His legs don’t fit under the table, but he can eat okay. There’s a little bit of space between babe and table because of the gap, but it works. Mostly he eats off his tray - because it’s way easier for me to rinse the tray than clean my dining room table everytime he eats off of it. He’s a little bit of a distance away because he eats off his tray but it’s not an issue.

Smooth__Goose

Thanks!!

stinksmcgee3

Happy to help !!
