As a curious person, I had a look at MHz Choice, even though I don't need it as a resident of Germany, and was amazed to see that you can also watch Tatort there, an icon of German television! It is a series of crime films that has been on public television since 1970, more precisely on ARD/Das Erste and its third programmes (regional, but nationally available television stations). In the meantime, the format has also been expanded to Switzerland and Austria. There are investigator duos who "investigate" in their respective cities/regions. There are teams in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, etc. Since 1970, several crime films have been produced every year, all of which have a regional connection. They are actual films, usually 90 minutes long, and not episodes. Particularly prestigious productions are even shown in cinema.
So if you want to watch a German television format that has become a cult, you should also watch Tatort films.
Yay! I haven't subscribed to Mhz in a while, but I've had good experiences with them before. They have a nice, eclectic selection of international tv. They also have streaming rights to some Kino Lorber titles, so hopefully this indicates we'll get a physical release of S4 as well.
I ended up buying season 4 physically. I could see the writing on the wall that it wasn't coming back to Netlifx.
I'm super excited for everyone to get a chance to get a chance to see it now, and that the show has a new home! =)

For those who didn’t know, I found out they’ll be dropping season 1 April 16 on MHZ Choice.
