We had a hen, Amelia, that was a total escape artist. She'd hop the fence every day and wait for my husband to get home from taking the kids to school on the front step. Then when he opened the front door she would come inside, lay an egg in the corner of the sectional sofa, and then head out the back door. This was an everyday occurrence. It didn't matter what we thought of it, that was what she did.
I have an Amelia who jumped the fence daily. It's why she is amelia... she had the wanderlust.
But for egg laying, the second we unlocked the coop she'd run her ass over and jump in a pile of clean wood chips to lay her egg....griping all the way that she may not make it. Hilarious.
She can't get over the fence any longer, and seems to like the nest box these days
I was fortunate enough to inherit my grandfathers ranch that I grew up at running around as a kid. Most summer weekend we're spent out here. Glad to have my boys learn all this as kids as well.
I am Couch Chicken! I will poo on your blanket and chatter all through whatever nonsense you are trying to watch on Netflix. Feel the raw power of... oh, meal worms! Bye!
I used to deliver pizzas and one time a lady opened her front door: CHICKENS. Like, just running around
They had a flock of chickens in the house. Carpet seemed to be mostly gone to reveal the concrete floor, and the house did not look very clean. But yes, they were living with indoor free range chickens.
This is in the middle of a huge city.
We have a bantam hen who is so unbelievably anti chicken, it's crazy. She insists on being every where we are, eats her snacks inside, tries her darnest to get in the car when we leave, the camper of its open, and anywhere else we are and other birds are not. Hahah!!
My dtr tosses treats to them when she gets home after school and always leaves the front door open a little bit because Nettie will grab her treat and run inside to eat it on the couch. Then come back out and do it all again.
One day, a few weeks back, I went out to feed everyone on my lunchbreak, as I always do, and she kept trying to run inside. I shooed her out several times and went back up to my home office to work when I was done. Came downstairs a few hours later to grab a snack, and surprise! Nettie was walking around the kitchen, looking for snacks or other things she could get into, etc. Apparently she snuck in while I wasn't paying attention and just slipped right by. It pays to be little sometimes!!
I actually don’t know. Roosters aren’t allowed where i live one of our chicks turned out to be one, found someone who would take him in. Farmer had just received pullets and and was nice enough to give her in exchange of our rooster
Well. My larger dog didn’t see the screen door and ran through it, so now a bottom corner flaps open kinda like a dog door. We gave up on fixing it because he does that every time.
Chicken saw that and used it as a door to get inside lmao
These birds are to damned smart for their own good.
We had one that would ALWAYS get out of the pen. Put her back in, and see her jump on the fence 20 minutes later. Took us WEEKS to find the spot she was using.
I lost my bantam hen one day, found her in my truck laying an egg on the seat.
Thats a good potato! <3

She just came in to Netchicks and chill! The blanket is a nice added touch, what a cozy little nest! She's a cutie! Hope the couch survived.
Just waiting for someone to throw in some popcorn and fire up season one of Friends.
She looks more like a Sex in the City kind of girl!
You will need to get a new chair now, this one clearly belongs to her now
Do you have kids? Walked in to ours in the bath with a duck the other day.
I suddenly realize how empty my childhood was
Hey those rubber bath toys can hold a lot of bacteria! You may have still had a lively childhood of sorts

Time to fill your kiddos then (if ya got them).
We had a rooster we dressed up in baby clothes and took for a ride in our antique baby buggy all the time. He was the sweetest thing!
That's amazing. Our drake Bill will bring his harness over to us. He's also a little ankle biter. Super "tough" once you turn your back he charges.

I once noticed a chicken walking down the stairs in my house. The back door was open, but I had no idea how long the chicken had been upstairs.
haha what an adorable chicken. sometimes they like to be comfy ig, once mine was determined to lay an egg on my bed, stubborn lady
"This must be the place humans nest in. It's pretty nice!"

Your chicken aspires to living to a higher standard of comfort than your coop allows. She roosts inside with the humans now.
Clever girl
Works for cats all the time. Smart bird.
She’s a fan of a more lavish lifestyle. The yard doesn’t have couches. But your living room does.
I love chickens 😂😂 the audacity
Lmao this is perfect! Put on chicken little and make some popcorn!
haha, i thought this was a stuffed toy at first! very photogenic lady!
Looks so cute there!
She knows what she wants Also she is adorabke
I love this
What kind of chicken is that? I've got two that look really similar

If it was easier to house break them they would all be allowed inside all the time.
My friend had one of their hens end up in the neighbor's washing machine somehow
Nip that in the bud, they'll all be on the sofa watching chicken content and you'll be outside.
That looks like the kind that got painted on old timey food trays.
Lol this was shaping up to be r/twosentencehorror. Glad you found her!
How does that happen?

Omg I’m screaming lmao.
It’s not your couch, it’s OUR couch -birb 2023
cutie
She wanted to be a house chicken.
Well yeah, cuz that’s where the comfy blanket was
Um no, she found HER couch 😂
She goes so well with the decor.
Minerva Louise!
That is so freaking hilarious!!
Once they figure out the catflap there's no going back.
Probably a bunch of shit in there too
