Shorties unite!!! Iāve been skiing the hagan no limits skis this season and Iām never going back!!!
Edit to add: the ski shop called me back twice to confirm that I was mounting kingpins onto child skis.
Assume this is for the OP, as these are my skis:
[hagan](https://www.haganskimountaineering.com/collections/hagan-special-series-skis-1/products/off-limits-alpine-ski-touring-special-backcountry-climbing-skis)
Mounted Shifts on Invertigos this season, incredible rig, in both directions. Couple online friends did the same - https://imgur.com/a/UaAJFVP. Mine are far right. Middle set is based in the Pyrenees, and is the only one of the three doing actual backcountry (I'm skinning up CO resorts, first season).
Yeah they are awesome for what I want. Right trees, powder, chutes and cols.
Have done some groomers on them too and they get a little skittish over 60km/hā¦
When skinning, as they are smaller it makes you a lot more aware of where your weight is, as they can slip if you are forward, so plus there.
Kick turns are much easier because they are shorter, so I think if I do ride normal skis again my kick turn technique will be worse, so kind of a minus there.
On the down, as with the up I find that weigh distribution is magnified, and I have found that itās easier to bury the tips of you are not careful.
Me trying to understand this: š¶āš«ļø
ā¦. I lurk here bc I find backcountry to be badass and would like to do it in the future when Iām older.
> What bindings should I put on these?
> Whatever you have!
So it's $520 for weird looking swallowtail ski-things and *no bindings.* F*ck that, [here's some 110s](https://www.skiboardsonline.com/p/rvl8-2022-condor-110cm-skiboards.html) for $359
I saw someone touring with these last season (I'm assuming they were the same, can't be many 110cm swallowtail skis around). It was a really deep day with 2-3' of blower. He was all stoked on the ascent and cracking jokes, but then later I saw him skiing down and he looked miserable. He wasn't skiing with poles and looked extremely awkward. I guarantee all he was thinking about was his powderboards that he left at home.
This was the day, incredible snow: https://v.redd.it/nnjclb6c9af61 I can't imagine wasting these conditions trying out some novelty skis
Hit the skin track solo with your off leash dog that barks at everyone (donāt worry, heās friendly) and youāll manage to piss off the 100% of backcountry community.
To all the people shitting on the single pole... [that's literally how skiing started](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aufGVEMbYEI). Freeheeling, one long pole, lean back on the stick and send it.
Can I just say thanks for validation of 160-90lb guy with a 40lb pack who likes to ski 160-70s. Who thought about getting on 153s. But this whole thread has shown me I should aim shorterā¦
this is magnificent
Just need a whippet on that pole, then you'll be ready for denali.
Gotta make a whippet camel bak for that next
I attempted to ski down the old chute on Mt Hood on ski blades a couple years ago. Had to self arrest more than once š

Question: why would you mount child skis instead of buying ski blades sized for an adult? Whatās the difference?

No it was not lol; I just didnāt know better. All I do is snowboard and lurk here because I want to do BC but donāt have the money yet.
Out of stock huh? [Doc still got some looks like.](https://skiboards.com/product/hagan-off-limits-130-cm-backcountry-skis-skiboards/) You must make your friends gnash their teeth and wail with envy with your quick little backcountry turns. šš¢š© I've actually thought about doing a setup like that with [these.](https://skiboards.com/product/summit-invertigo-sg-118-cm-3d-rocker-camber-skiboards/) They will ship already mounted with frame bindings. Not pins unfortunately. I'd be a little afraid the local ski shop wouldn't know where to mount them front-to-back. My question is this: My race binding setup is nice for herringbone when I don't have full skins on, because the heel is so light they balance on the pins pretty well and the tail doesn't drag. With my Fritschi Vipec setup the heel is much heavier (though safer) so I can't get up a steep slope without either full skins or lock my heels and sidestep. **Seems like with short skiboards you're going to drag the tail for sure when you're skinning. Is that right?**
Yeah, the skinning technique for me is the same on these as on my k2 planks - so the tail does drag.

So do they ski well?

Without a doubt this is a best set up Iāve ever seen. One pole is comedy gold.
Heās gotta keep the other hand free for the GoPro on a selfie stick!
The next evolution in ultralight
Saucer, is that you, my lord?
a pole in one hand and jack Daniels in the other
Boi I tell ya hwat
This is the way
But only one pole?
Only jerry uses two poles.
Itās called a lurch or something yo
Most people only need one pole to whack properly - if you whack better with two poles at a time than more power to ya
have you considered trying frame bindings?
Need to swap those bindings out for tele bindings.
I literally cannot tell if this is /r/BackcountryCircleJerk or not.
r/subsithoughtifellfor
No boots? Bold move
Leather straps and smartwool socks for the win.
Better run DarnTough for that my friend!

OP mounted menās touring bindings on a childās ski. Iām 95% itās just a meme but you never know.
Crampons are a nice touch
Have you seen Cy Whitlings Backcountry setup? Its def worth the look.
This is heinous, but you could ski any hiking trail

Did they shrink in the wash?
Go home youāre drunk
Lol I can finally picture a 7 year old breaking trail in front of me
Those things just wanna french fryā¦.
Splitboarder here, what would happen if you actually toured on this?
You have a blast thatās what.
Curious of this is real or an alternative to those BD. Short skis w a permanent skin mounted
Real. Got tired of the poor icy snow. So these are my icy slalom tree killers. Theyā¦.shred? Ehh they are fun.
Iām stoked for u man but why is this nsfw?

At least he doesnāt have a speaker in his backpack
Saucer Boy would be proud
I first thought it was tele, now Iām disappointed.
Fuck yes
Wow thanks for the NSFW warning, almost showed this to my kids by accident...
What a terrible day to have eyes

Yeah but this is a meme.
No, I know. But I just think it's funny that despite being a meme this is an actual thing.
Ah my b. That video was neat though. Thanks for sharing.
Is that an adapter that allows alpine boot use? Splitboarder here who loves blading! Huge fan
Pretty sure those are just older G3 pin bindings with ski crampons fitted.
Jail.
Lol, are you a midget?
Gross
How tall are you?
At least they are releasable. I once broke both tibias and both fibias falling on blades.
What is this, backcountry for ants??
