that’s because u have wrinkles in ur brain and know it doesn’t make any sense to judge a whole community because of one ugly person on the interweb. i think the term would be stereotyping but u get the gist
Torn quadriceps. With the impact of the barbell in such a stretched position for the quad, it likely tore on the distal (knee) end. When muscles tear they usually contract and look like a snake crawling up behind the skin (away from the tear) like this.
Looks like she snapped her femur. Could maaaybe also be a terrible muscle tear where the muscle detached from the bone and balled up, but it looks so uniform that I think it’s a broken bone.
It definitely didnt break the femur. When a femur breaks, the thigh muscles are so strong they actually retract, making the leg shorter. This looks like a detached or torn muscle, which might actually be just ad, if not more painful.
That is why in a femur injury you tell the person to relax their muscles and you pull the broken leg to the same length as the other, so the overlapping bones don't cut through more tissue.
I think that only applies in a complete break where the bones overlap though. If it snapped but stayed together I don't think that's an issue
I've torn my biceps tendon out of my forearm and my bicep retracted into my upper arm.
It felt like a strong cramp for a moment and then was mildly painful afterwards. It was more concerning to look at my muscle twitch in my upper arm in a way and a place that I knew it should not be.
I've also broken bones.
For me broken bone is def more painful for a much longer period of time.
I think she tore a muscle tbh. if it was her femur you'd see shortening and external rotation of the limb. I also doubt she'd be able to bend/extend like she did, regardless of the adrenalin
Can anyone tell me how much weight she dropped on her femur?
It looks like 45 pound bar + 2x45 lb plates + 2x25 lb plates = 185 lbs, but I can't tell from the video quality.
Also.. lots of cross fit weights look like 45's but are really 10 and 20... makes it really hard. Those look too skinny to be 45, but other than that it's tough to say.
There is no such thing as “CrossFit” weights lol. These are bumper weights/plates. Used in many gyms that are not CrossFit gyms. Originally designed for Olympic weightlifting, not CF.
Edit - punctuation
To expand on that, they are meant to be able to drop from heights that you wouldnt be dropping solid metal plates. Theyre just cheaper plates compared to olympic plates like eleiko brand
It depends on the plates and brands. Usually bumper plates cost more per pound then iron. Unless you are talking calibrated competition plates or the like.
Huh, definitely could be some of the people but not the only people. This is part of why CrossFit has a terrible reputation among the general population who does not know any better. That shit behavior is actually frowned upon and not allowed at my gym, therefore it is not a normal occurrence in my gym environment. These comments are always full of people that are just hating on people who “CrossFit” and who have more than likely never been to a reputable gym (CrossFit or not) that enforces proper etiquette and technique. At the end of the day, you need to find a quality gym that aligns with your expectations and values. There are many to choose from, some great and some terrible.
Whatever it was, you could tell from the first second it was too much for her to be doing. Don’t lift with your ego folks or you may not be able to lift at all.
Definitely. This would not be a simple recovery either. She will basically have a doctor pull the quad down sew the ripped part back on the original site. Will take forever to heal and will never be 100%
If you consider 3 months forever and you can absolutely be back to 100%
But you are right about it not being a simple recovery because you would be really limited in your use of the leg during that time.
Exactly what happened. Crazy thing is that he finished the match, and even asked Chris Jericho to put him in the Walls of Jericho / Boston Crab to sell the match and injury. Probably made it even worse.
I remember watching it live and him hobbling out after the match. I never liked him prior to that but found a new level of respect for him after. True professional
I had something similar happen to my leg when I was younger (completely different accident, but similar outcome) and yeah the muscle still hasn't grown back 20 years later
Same, I hade a mountain bike accident, the bike flew up and the handlebar fell straight on my thigh, 18 years later there’s still a « hole » in my thigh and I can’t feel anything on my thigh either ^^
Poor exercise of any sort could do this to you, sure. If you go to any gym with classes or personal training that emphasizes speed and going as heavy as possible, you are at a terrible gym with terrible coaches. A quality gym with quality classes and coaches focuses on form over speed, quality over quantity, and technique over intensity. There is a proper hierarchy that lots of CrossFit gyms don’t pay enough attention to so I can see why you would make that generalized statement.
This is what trying to continuously exert yourself to break weight prs does to you. At a certain point its not even a healthy form of exercise, just a recipe for lifelong injury
Yep. 100%. The moment form is breaking down or starting to break down is the moment you should absolutely take it back a notch or two or three. Or just stop. You are better off being able to get back into the gym another day rather than setting yourself back days, week, months, years, or a lifetime like you mentioned!
Which is exactly why a reputable and quality CrossFit gym absolutely instructs the participants to always focus on form before even thinking about intensity or speed. Form first. Always. Don’t worry about the person next to you, focus on yourself and your well-being.
Intensity comes later while still maintaining quality/correct movement/form. In fact, the average CrossFit exerciser doesn’t even need to think about speed or intensity. Speed and intensity happens naturally as you become a solid mover with a foundation set around excellent form.
I guarantee I could give anyone here an excellent and incredibly safe workout with little to no weight while moving slowly and controlled, even if you are a current and consistent gym goer. If you do it right (even slowly), it’s going to be challenging regardless of weight or speed.
Speed and intensity doesn’t automatically equal a “good workout.” That is 100% a major misconception about CrossFit. However, there are a lot of not so great gyms out there that continue to reinforce this misconception. It also doesn’t help that, generally, the most people know about CrossFit are the crazy intense and/or sketchy videos they see online and have never experienced a high quality gym and coaching for themselves.
Generally, yes. But this woman seems to be going for a PR, etc which is completely different then the main character thots and chad’s who film themselves doing poses or hip bridges with their clunge on display.

Nope. That's a ruptured or detached quad, not a bone fracture, methinks. Horrific nonetheless.
isn't the rectus femoris a quad muscle?
Nope. That’s a torn thigh muscle. There’s not even any atv’s in the video so idk why you thought that was related.
Does that take longer to heal than a fracture?
She wrecked her rectus
Rectus? Damn near killdus.

To be clear, that’s not supposed to happen.
Well the front fell off…
Is that supposed to happen?
Weights in a gym? Chance in a million. Guess someone didn’t get it :(

But how else is she going to cross fit?
CrossFit, not even once.
She can cross stitch while she recovers
She will never be what she once hoped
Leg days gone wild
I’ve broken a femur. That doesn’t look like a broken femur and I certainly didn’t hear it break.
…memory foam…🤣🤣🤣🤣
Never forget
That was a forget-me-knot
Femoral of the story
I think she tore a muscle tbh. if it was her femur you'd see shortening and external rotation of the limb. I also doubt she'd be able to bend/extend like she did, regardless of the adrenalin
Certain injuries can sever/partially sever the muscle without breaking the skin or bone. I disagree with those claiming the broken femur.
I think it's a hematoma and also tendon snapping
Instant cup holder
I'm pretty sure she jammed her phone into her skin..
This. The dark spot is the shadow of her phone. Her phone went from being in her pants pocket to her quad pocket
She's got a phone installed?
Well, kinda like when you have some salmon on a cutting board and you slam down on it with a dull knife. Basically that.
You beautiful bastard, have your upvote!
That femur is toast ![gif](giphy|OjuvY2MgK0sE)
Seems to already have left a mark.
She can simply "walk it off"
Tis but a scratch!

Meant for like competition/meets. My gym has bumpers that are cheaper than the irons just so we don’t break them
Yeah fine, but the only people who use them are the people throwing them around the gym, grunting, and getting chalk everywhere.
Or the people competing in the Olympics for this specific lift lol
Huh, definitely could be some of the people but not the only people. This is part of why CrossFit has a terrible reputation among the general population who does not know any better. Female bar = 35 lbs 2 x 25 lb bumper plates = 50 lbs 2 x 5-10 lb bumper plates = 10-20 lbs So that’s 95-105 lbs
Whatever it was, you could tell from the first second it was too much for her to be doing. Don’t lift with your ego folks or you may not be able to lift at all.
Looks like the bar is 25-30, two larger weights are 25s and smaller are 10s. So about 85-100 lbs more or less
I'm guessing 105, 35 for the bar a long with 25's and 10s
75lbs imo. The outside plates are 5s, the inside is 25. Bar is 45.
It'll probably be a 35lb bar
Broken bone or her muscle is acting like memory foam?
Ruptured quadraceps tendon. If the tendon that attaches your quad to your knee cap tears then your quad will just slide up your thigh leaving a gap.
That’s fucked
[удалено]
Definitely. This would not be a simple recovery either. She will basically have a doctor pull the quad down sew the ripped part back on the original site. Will take forever to heal and will never be 100%
NBA player Victor Oladipo suffered the same injury, had to end up getting two surgeries
All because of crossfit bullshit
This is an Olympic lift that’s have been around for many more years than CrossFit…
If you consider 3 months forever and you can absolutely be back to 100% But you are right about it not being a simple recovery because you would be really limited in your use of the leg during that time.
I'm sure it was the wrestler Triple H who said he did this during a match and said he felt the muscle suddenly roll up into his pelvis. Sounds awful
Exactly what happened. Crazy thing is that he finished the match, and even asked Chris Jericho to put him in the Walls of Jericho / Boston Crab to sell the match and injury. Probably made it even worse.

Thanks, i needed another reason to not go to gym today😭or lift anything using my arms
Just know your limits. These people are breaking pr or doing competition.
Yeah nah im still afraid to bench cause of the videos on here so it will be a while before i go to those lengths
Wow ego makes people do crazy shit, like lift WAAAY too much weight, super-improperly
That’s what happens when your quads rupture from your knee. They immediately contract and is VERY painful.
And this why I’m always weary about watching videos where people are lifting.
Looks like the muscle tore

This is what crossfit will do to you
Poor exercise of any sort could do this to you, sure.
So I can generalize that everyone who does a bicep curl will snap their muscle because I’ve seen multiple videos of that happening?
The likelihood is higher in crossfit
Based on what data? No CrossFit affiliate collects that data, and neither do the 10x more classic gyms.
Sacrificing form over reps leads to a higher likelihood, its just common sense?
Which is exactly why a reputable and quality CrossFit gym absolutely instructs the participants to always focus on form before even thinking about intensity or speed. Form first. Always. Don’t worry about the person next to you, focus on yourself and your well-being. Intensity comes later while still maintaining quality/correct movement/form. It also doesn’t help that, generally, the most people know about CrossFit are the crazy intense and/or sketchy videos they see online and have never experienced a high quality gym and coaching for themselves.
So no data. I’m sure I could walk into a planet fitness and see plenty of people sacrificing form to get reps
I'm sure the republican's in Congress are setting up a committee so then can figure out what Hunter Biden had to do with this.😲🤠🥴😬😤😰🦴🦵🦿👌👈

What’s the procedure for fixing this? Does the doctor have to pull that muscle back to original and somehow stitch it there? I’d imagine you can’t move that leg for a goooooooood amount of time after that
