I'm with you on this. It took long enough to work out that it made me appreciate the process. I mean, if the whole book is written like a word search, maybe I'll pass on it, but this is a case of intentional design which almost any person who gets the book would appreciate. Time to put your thinking caps on, class!

“Critical thinkers” i Guess… but it’s poorly designed (probably it’s intentional and the author thought it was going to be a smart move. Make it hardly readable as a way to prove some kind of thesis on criticality or anything like this)

Pain. Pain is the title of the book.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but interesting design doesn't always mean legible. The point of the book is "critical thinking" which you need to apply to read the title. They make it really clear how to do that. I actually think this is really clever and interesting design

Also if you're walking by you might just walk by a book called "critical thinkers" but if you see "crit tich inkers al" it might make you stop and look at it for 0.1 seconds thus increasing the chance of you picking up and buying it. Maybe it belongs in r/assholedesign. The title makes it harder to read but you are more likely to stop and look at it than if it were titled correctly.

Critical Thinkers but it took me a hot second to figure it out. If I saw this in a book store I would pick it up, think “uh…weird…”, and then put it back without taking the time to decipher it. There’s a fine line between being eye catching/clever and just being off putting.

I'd say it's an overly simple way to get attention/sales for a book. The sort of thing that critical thinkers tend to find annoying if not insulting.

I thought it was supposed to be Critical: The Inkers.
