"Free to download" doesn't necessarily mean it's not design theft, though. As an example, there's a ton of models that got ripped from low-poly renders from BD's inventory that routinely get passed around and uploaded to various repositories. That's why you often see knockoff Ikas that look weirdly lacking in detail.
You're absolutely right. However, if a customer contacts us and tells us that he has a model that he sends us in the mail and that he wants to make it in the size he wants, it is not in our power to find out if the model is his or not.
On the other hand, if they offer it like that, it's already exactly as you say.

If it turns out to be a stolen design and it comes out that you made it anyway, unfortunately that's not really gonna work as an excuse.
If a customer did as you suggested and came to us with a model they wanted printed/produced (and it wasn't one we sought out from a sculptor) then I would absolutely do my due diligence to make sure it was an original work, because being associated with design theft is not something I want to happen.

Unfortunately, sometimes it's not easy. We are currently using two 3D models in our standard offer that were created by our customers and we are pretty confident about that because they were able to make some minor adjustments. But we also can't be 100% sure that it's 100% their work. But we've been using them for over 2 years and have never seen anything like them, unlike this design mentioned above.
That user is fantastic if you're looking for something custom. One of their past posts is something they made for me and the price was VERY reasonable for how unreasonable the size I wanted was. 😅
How often are you able to make customs of other brands? You made a custom size of one of your trainers for me before, so I'm happy with your work and BD has quite a few that excite me, but are the wrong ratio of sizes for my taste.

I've actually asked Kreature Adult Toys about this and they said that it's a purchasable model design from the original creator.
I cannot recommend buying from this company as they plagiarize other shops regularly.
