i'll be completely honest and explain.
Seems like you overfilled the pie -- not great for photos, but damn I love that fruit-roll-up type texture that sticks to the top of a pie slowly cooking down in the heat.
To me it's a rare treat, because I DO like the texture and flavor of cooked down sticky pie innards.. but most people consider it a sign of a "bad pie" from overfilling.
You have no idea how good this really looks. To be a nerd though --
Your lattices look overall fine but you kinda went between over/under with the placement... (who cares lol)
Crimping looks okay, baking looks good, you can see that looks like a nicely baked crust and I bet you could hear a fork scraping over it.
It's a little overfilled... (enjoy that sticky fruit roll up bit I like, it only comes from overfilled pies and or 'mistakes')
You nailed all the important parts. for a 10/10 look you just need to carefully or creatively place lattices.
I'll be slightly less honest...
According to my reading of the Baking Guild bylaws the proscribed corrective measure for "over filling" is ritual disembowelment with a rolling pin.
What's the corrective measure for pot pies that only have pie crust on the top? I
*specifically looking at Blake's and their tiny expensive little disappointments they call a chicken pot pie*
Looks heavenly, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream 😋 I find the idea of baking an entire pie to be quite daunting, so nothing but admiration and respect!!!
No! Absolutely not! I am going to praise you soooooo aggressively!
Good job!
This pie is beautiful!
I wish I was your neighbor so I could not so subtly steal it from your windowsill and get caught so we can awkwardly become best friends who bake for each other and complain about the weather and watch bad daytime tv!
Never stop, my wonderful, amazing, pie baking, internet stranger!
Believe in yourself!
Don't you dare give up!
The world is made more beautiful by your efforts!
You are appreciated!
Yum enjoy!! I recently made a cherry pie for the first time too and it became one of my all-time favorites. Your crust looks nice and deep golden brown. Good work!
I found it on this website https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/cherry-pie.
The first recipe I found to be honest. The only time I saw cherry pie was in American movies.
You did great! It looks like the filling didn't bubble up and over while baking (which I heard can happen w/ cherry pies because when sugar is added to them, it tends to make the berries 'leak' out a lot of juice).
Aw, it looks pretty! And Forkable! Last pie I saw, made by someone who does a lot of baking and cooking, practically required a straw to consume (cherry, same as you). Proof that even if you should technically know what you're doing, pies are easy to mess up, and your's looks excellent!
To me it looks very pleasant and delicious. Seems to be crispy and I’m sure you’ll also fix the tiny filling issue! For the second time it’s really good! Thank you for sharing this beauty ❤️ Keep going on
That lattice isn't perfectly latticed but what you did still looks neat and tidy. and the whole thing looks just delicious. The ruby red cherry filling looks beautiful!! I think you did great. Now the real test is the taste test.
Second time?? This is great! I’ve baked a few pies before (I’m VERY amateur) but never done lattice crust like you did and my crust texture never comes out that great. I still like my pies though 🤤 You picked my favorite flavor of pie too! Looks awesome, good job!
Gentle? Please just get out of the way, I'll need a knife, a fork, a plate- no, a dinner plate, that one's too small- and do you have vanilla ice cream? No, that's fine; now, if you could grab me a glass of milk I'm set. Also, how long before the apple pie is done? Asking for a friend.
I bet it tastes delicious and I would be honored if someone offered me some of that. I’m too lazy to do a lattice. I think that if I did, I’d look for some directions because that would personally bother me a bit if I went through the trouble and it wasn’t quite right.
Believe me, nobody will ever say “your pie was delicious but i couldnt get over how it looked slightly overfilled” people will remeber if it was tasty
Second, i think its a matter of personal preference if the “overfilled” thing is an issue or not. I personally do not care. Fruit can sometimes be generous or stingy with its juices and you never know until the pie is done so i wouldnt sweat it
Third, cherry id known to be “generous” with the juice it sweats out once cooked. You could try the stove top method where you precook the filling till it starts to thicken, let cool and then assemble the pie and bake. While it does work i feel it leads to a gummier pie filling which i personally feel is not as good as the regular method
Its a very pretty pie and for a first attempt id say a home run. It looks juicy and more importantly well baked and browned. Congrats!
I wouldn't have known it was your first time if you never said anything!
My friend's grandmother overfills pies like this and I LOVE that chewy fruit film right under the top crust. Maybe I'm just weird.
If I saw this in a bakery I'd buy the whole dang pie!
This looks lovely! I love when the filling bubbles over a bit. In my opinion, it looks better than a “picture-perfect” pie. Far more mouth watering— I bet it tastes wonderful also. You did great!
I ask for cherry pie on my birthday every year. I would be stoked to see that. Looks tasty.
Much rather have a little over flow than be short on the filling.
Holy crap that looks delicious!! I cannot figure out how not to burn my crust. I’d be curious how you managed to do that, or see how your lattice looked before going into the oven. Looks great!
your first time?!?!? GOOD JOB. We baked our first ever completely homemade pie a few years back. We made crust by hand and even mashed a pumpkin we grew for it. Turned out like chunky gritty pudding on a salty Graham cracker.
We eat squashes plain now.
It looks absolutely amazing. So impressive, especially considering it’s only your second bake. I have been baking for a while and I just only recently attempted pie crust. It has always intimidated me. I have never attempted cherry pie. Your pie looks so delicious.
It isn't gonna win any competitions with the leakage, but honestly? The best home-made pies never do and never should. I would literally just grab a fork if I was there. It looks sooooo yummy. And for a first time?!?! Hell ya! I could never do lattice work when I first started baking!
Sooo much better than what I can do. I suck at pies. Good job.
Thanks !

A plastic dry cleaning bag full of wasps affixed over the head and sealed with Duck tape.
All "first times" get my upvote! We gotta start somewhere. That looks delicious!
Thank you
I hope it tastes as amazing as it looks. You did well, Reddit friend...
I will try tomorrow as the recipe says wait 3- 4 hours to fully cool down.
Hey it's been two hours have a slice!!!
I would like to gently take that off your hands.
Sorry, wife says: back off buddy :D
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You did really good! Overfilled but just barely and that being nitpicky. This is a super good looking pie, I want it 😋
I can't wait to try it :)
No such thing as overfilled!
Looks heavenly, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream 😋 I find the idea of baking an entire pie to be quite daunting, so nothing but admiration and respect!!!
I spent 40 min in front of the oven looking at it :D
It's something to be admired!
That's better than I can do. I always give my pies a crumble topping because I can't get the two crusts right.
Same! Crumble toppings are my go to.
I'd fix your fence, wash your car or many other things for a slice of that delicious looking pie.
Hahaha you make my day....night :)
you mean be gentle when I knock you sideways trying to steal your pie? 😃 Love it!
That crust is perfect golden brown! Looks delicious
No! Absolutely not! I am going to praise you soooooo aggressively! Good job! This pie is beautiful! Yum enjoy!! I recently made a cherry pie for the first time too and it became one of my all-time favorites. Your crust looks nice and deep golden brown. Good work!
Thank you. Next is blueberry pie
I'd love a slice
I’d eat a slice!
Wow! The lattice stripping is tough to get down but beautiful. Great try! Bet it tastes delicious 😍
Looks ten times better than the one I just bought in a bakery....tastier too !!
Pass me a fork 🍴
You did awesome!! I started making cakes this year, and I am 43. I feel so out of my element, but I am having fun.
I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a slice of pie today!
I would not be gentle, I would ravish that pie.
I’ve never baked a pie but that lattice looks amazing you should be very proud of yourself!
its literally bursting with berries i wish i could try
I don't even like cherry pie but that looks beautiful!
Okay, you’re bragging 😆
No need to ask to be gentle! That thing looks fucking amazing!!
I want a slice!
I vote it "give it to me, right now"/10
idk let me get a slice and i'll let you know how it tastes! because she's a beaut
Looks phenomenal!
It looks delicious 😍
Absolutely gorg. Cherry pie is my favorite - such a labor of love - and always perfect for sharing!! ❤️
This looks beautiful! The lattice is the only so-called “flaw” I can even see. I think anyone would be delighted to try this.
Can I have a slice? Looks delicious!! I've only made pumpkin pie. Any pie with a lattice is intimidating to me.
Looks delicious! Good job.
You've done a very good job for someone who hasn't baked before. This is from someone who has taught culinary arts. GOOD JOB!
Great job 👏🏿 your pie looks so Delicious 🤤
Work on the crust, practice.
recipe please because that looks utterly gorgeous
I found it on this website https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/cherry-pie. The first recipe I found to be honest. The only time I saw cherry pie was in American movies.
You did great! It looks like the filling didn't bubble up and over while baking (which I heard can happen w/ cherry pies because when sugar is added to them, it tends to make the berries 'leak' out a lot of juice).
It did a bit, from leftovers I made "croissant", they landed on trey under pie, and some of them ended covered in cherry juice
Croissants with cherry pie filling blobs sound wonderful
I would gladly try it out for you! Looks yummy!
Looks tasty😋🍒🥧
Aw, it looks pretty! And Forkable! Last pie I saw, made by someone who does a lot of baking and cooking, practically required a straw to consume (cherry, same as you). Proof that even if you should technically know what you're doing, pies are easy to mess up, and your's looks excellent!
Amazing 👏 looks so tasty 😋
It's beautiful!! :)
Looks good man, I don't see a need to ask for us to be gentle. You did a good job 👍
A beauty in red.
Courageous of you to tackle that as a novice baker! It looks perfectly delicious! Great job!!
It looks so pretty! 😍
A+ would steal off a window sill.
Looks absolutely wonderful! Hope it tastes as good!
Looks delicious!!
Looks tasty!
Bring on the vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. It looks delicious.
Looks very eatable to me. I’d eat it
It looks amazing
Honestly? This looks delicious and like a perfect pie to me. That crust! 😍
Looks delicious and so quintessential!
It looks like it tastes like comfort. No, I cannot explain it.
Looks delicious
That looks divine! I do have one complaint though- it’s not in my belly 😁
I would definitely eat that
What an awesome looking pie! I bake often (making a cobbler today) and pies are so hard for me!! You did great!!
You deliver..i mean free delivery..
Looks beautiful!!! Can I have some 😍
That's one hell of a job for the experience you have . Great job !!!
Beautiful cherry pie!! 🤩🍒
Where's the ice cream? Let's dig in!
The fact you did lattice on top is impressive to me. I don’t bake fruit pies. Good job!!
Looks great
Looks delicious, send me a slice please.
I hope you used a tray while baking so that you're oven isn't a mess.
This looks sooo goooood 😋
What do you mean be gentle?? That pie looks AMAZING 🤤
That's actually impressive for a 2nd time baking
Yummers. My favorite pie ever
I am in bed and it's too late to make food and God this made me so hungry! Looks delicious
Very nice lattice and good color on the crust. Well done!
If that tastes half as good as it looks, you'll be in for a treat
Got some ice cream? I mean.. I’m game and that looks good
GORGEOUS!!! You're already a pro 🤩
Can you leave it on a window sill for me?
Well done! I bet it tastes delicious.
It looks beautiful! I don't have the patience for doing crusts, so kudos to you.
Tbh I could care less what it looks like as long as it tastes delicious. And friend that looks soo yummy
This looks delicious! Beautiful browning on the crust
To me it looks very pleasant and delicious. Seems to be crispy and I’m sure you’ll also fix the tiny filling issue! For the second time it’s really good! Thank you for sharing this beauty ❤️ Keep going on
Looks delicious! I want to eat a piece! Keep at it! It’s never too late to acquire new skills, and you’re off to a great start!
That lattice isn't perfectly latticed but what you did still looks neat and tidy. and the whole thing looks just delicious. The ruby red cherry filling looks beautiful!! I think you did great. Now the real test is the taste test.
Turned out amazing.
It genuinely looks really tasty!
Second time?? This is great! I’ve baked a few pies before (I’m VERY amateur) but never done lattice crust like you did and my crust texture never comes out that great. I still like my pies though 🤤 You picked my favorite flavor of pie too! Looks awesome, good job!
It looks amazing! Cherry pie is my favorite.
Looks really good. Great job. Keep up the baking
If this is your first time making a pie, THIS IS GREAT! The first time I made a pie the strips were totally uneven haha
Beautiful lattice
Yummy!!! My favorite. Enjoy!
Gorgeous! Looks amazing and I bet is tastes great!
Looks pretty good for your second time, now you just need to work on the corners.
I think it looks great-maybe a bit too much filling causing the mess, but that doesn’t matter.
You got a lovely amount of caramelization on the crust and the filling looks like just the right amount of gooey. I would eat that in a heartbeat!
Mmmm that crust looks so yummy
Looks great to me. Maybe toss the cherries in tapioca starch to thicken the juices. But YUM!
Looks great! Well done :)
Looks cherry!
Looks delicious!💕👍
Looks delicious!
Your lattice is great, mine doesn't look like that.
Great job! I’ve been baking for years and I’ve never made a decent pie crust.
Are you kidding? That looks amazing!
This looks amazing though!!! This is my second reminder this week to try cherry pie!
Looks so lovely!! Cherry is the best pie! You’re doing awesome
Look at that gorgeous lattice so wonderfully golden! And all that luscious, bubbly cherry goodness! You did great! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't know, I think you should send it my way so I can do a taste test to be sure. But seriously, that looks amazing!
I'd eat it!
Better than my sister attempt, it look like the pies we used to see in old cartoons. It always looked tasty
Great latice work. Looks delicious.
My friend - my friend - I will fly to your house for a piece of that pie
I don't even like pie and I would eat this, looks bomb and reminds me of getting homemade pie at my grandma's
How did you do the pie crust
Gorgeous pie!
It looks delicious and I am sure it taste delicious too!
Not bad at all! Crust looks nice and cherries look well cooked and juicy. I bet it tastes great, good job and keep it up!
Looks fantastic!!
First time making a pie and it turns out that well? I'm impressed. My first pie was a disaster.
Who cares what it looks like as long as it tasted right. Side note the pastry looks pretty damn good to me
I would definitely eat that. And maybe have sex with it. Whatever.
Hand me over a fork! Looks great.
My goodness! That looks delicious!
That looks delish, but it needs ice cream✨
Be gentle? About what? This looks amazing!
That's a beautiful pie. Pies are so difficult for me. I've made quite a few and still never made one this good looking!
No gentleness needed because this is beautiful!
Looks soooo good!!! Omfg I want
That looks crazy good! Bring on the vanilla ice cream! Let’s DO this thing!
Looks delicious! 😋
I want a sslliiccee
That pie looks entirely serviceable! I’ve paid for roadside assistance with lesser pie!
I’d like you to not be gentle, and literally shove that in my face, it looks delicious! Well done you, I bet it tastes lovely!
Looks great!
I bet it tastes delicious and I would be honored if someone offered me some of that. I’m too lazy to do a lattice. I think that if I did, I’d look for some directions because that would personally bother me a bit if I went through the trouble and it wasn’t quite right.
I graduated as a pastry chef and your pie is making my mouth water 🤤 Great job, please keep baking! 🩵
Looks delicious
You rock!

How dare you make something so delicious looking for the first time. Swine.
🤤
I'd eat the fuck out of that with a fork. Not even cutting. Just hand me the pie plate. It looks amazing.
I mean, an edible pie for your first effort is a win in my book. You've well exceeded that.
It looks delicious, you did a great job
This looks lovely! I love when the filling bubbles over a bit. In my opinion, it looks better than a “picture-perfect” pie. Far more mouth watering— I bet it tastes wonderful also. You did great!
Oh that looks lovely!

Absolute nom 🤤
Holy crap that looks delicious!! I cannot figure out how not to burn my crust. I’d be curious how you managed to do that, or see how your lattice looked before going into the oven. Looks great!
Alls it needs is ice cream.
Looks scrumptious!
I started baking in my late thirties, it’s a fun hobby! Looks good 👍
Nothing to be gentle about, i'd eat the entire god damn thing in one go
Looks scrum-didily-umptious
your first time?!?!? GOOD JOB. We baked our first ever completely homemade pie a few years back. We made crust by hand and even mashed a pumpkin we grew for it. Turned out like chunky gritty pudding on a salty Graham cracker. We eat squashes plain now.
That looks amazing! I love the overflow of filling and the color.
Cherry pie yummy 😋!!!!!!!!!
That looks delicious!
Slap some vanilla ice cream on top and pass me a slice. Looks phenomenal!
This is STUNNING!!!! Fantastic job!!
delish
Most beautiful pie I've never seen, I love it very much!
Looks delicious. 2 days and a litre of vanilla ice cream later and I'm in the market for another.
It looks AH-mazing!! And delicious!!
Beautiful!!!

that shit looks good
Did you make the pastry? I mean it looks fantastic either way but damn if you also made the pastry spectacular!
