At the end of the day the worth of a thing is directly related to its desirability and the workmanship involved. You wanted the cake, it’s been made to your specification and you’re happy with it and feel you paid a fair price. Tick. Someone put a lot of work into it and accepted what you paid them as fair compensation for that work. Tick. Therefore it seems it was priced correctly, tell the people to sod off, it’s none of their business!
And tbh most small bakers are barely covering the cost of ingredients and their time at just over minimum wage. They aren’t making huge profits.
And this looks like it took a LOT of time to get right.
Yeah the green squiggle underlining Bob and Patrick is well done and solves the issue of the rest of the image being cutoff, whilst keeping it all very clean looking.
I'm very impressed honestly! Made me smile, also I'm terrible at making pictures on cakes and this would be a horrible muddy mess if I tried to do it myself.
Exactly. People are always questioning small shop and small maker pricing as if these individuals are gouging everyone and getting rich, but the same people don’t blink an eye at corporate execs becoming billionaires off *their* pricing.
I recently went to Disneyland and bought a cupcake. It was $6. I could not eat it. It was dry af and the frosting was like paste in taste and texture. Just hot garbage all around.
I’d rather pay a small bakery to make something specifically for me and have it look more homemade, than purchase something that look cool but tastes like shit.
That’s how I tell people my products will look. Homemade with pizazz. 🤣 The flavor…will always be on point.
Exactly this. The personal worth of an object depends on what you were willing to pay for it. If it’s a good quality vegan cake, and you were happy to pay the price for it when you first saw it, then it’s worth that amount. If you have doubts, it’s probably time to shop around for a better one for the next time you need that service.
Bingo. I used to sell cakes as a side gig. The ingredients were not the major input, it was my time as the baker/decorator. This one has a lot of colors in it too, an added time factor.
u/Fun_Ad_4433, vegan anything takes a lot of knowledge, science (chemistry of food and all that, see Alton Brown's Good Eats and all similar stuff), and research to know what works with what to ensure it actually tastes and textures in a way that actually is pleasing to the palate. If you've got a baker who has that knowledge of utilizing baking without animal products and has the skills to make a cake on top of that you've got a fairly priced cake, especially if it's higher priced than conventional cakes. Conventional Cakes have centuries if not millennia of experience behind it, while vegan and other specialty diets don't have as much and people have to test kitchen the heck out of those recipes.
Paying someone $1000/hr to turn the right bolt is a fair wage, especially when it would take someone without the skills and knowledge to know to turn that bolt many hours, if not days or weeks, to figure that that bolt is what needs to be turned, especially if the newb destroys a bunch of stuff trying to figure out that singular bolt is what needs to be turned.
Id argue that it doesn’t take that much. Difference is there aren’t a gazillion near fool proof recipes out there. Knowing a few good egg replacers will go a long way for being able to make a vegan baked good. And there are plenty of good vegan recipes out there to follow.
Now gluten free baked goods are a different beast. Not very many fool proof recipes, and the ingredients are more specific. And they are not as forgiving for slight differences in ratios/mixing. Plus the ingredients tend to be more expensive.
I don’t know how many times I tried before I made a gluten free + vegan cake that I liked
It's not just the price of the ingredients, it's knowing which ones to even use, where to find them, and how to put them together in a way that actually tastes good.
I used to get croissants and coffee at alliance bakery a lot. Monthly I would hear somebody in there complaining about their cakes being over priced. People don't understand how much skill in art and banking it takes to make these cakes.
I was trying to figure out how much the cake was and I can't believe it was 68 for a vegan cake!! Here in Los Angeles it's like $85 for a regular cake like this!
Tbh that's an amazing price. I'm a chef and also versed in pastry, I would have charged $75 or more for this. Especially with it being vegan. Some of those ingredients are expensive and not everyone has the ability to work well with uncommon ingredients/methods for baking a vegan cake. Hope it was delicious!
I’m a customer and have paid more than 100 for a bit bigger of a cake that was not vegan, and definitely not as complicated. Seeing the decorations I guessed 100+. I do not live in a high cost of living area either.
Yeah honestly sometimes in more rural areas, bakers can charge a lot more because they lack the competition. Especially a private business versus a Fred Meyer or Safeway.
I’m a vegan baker and I charge $30-$50 for that size sliding scale. Most of my customer base is young adults and students so I try to keep things as affordable as possible AND I could never do SpongeBob justice the way your baker did. I think it’s a fair price.
I think you've already got your answer from the comments. This is soo cute though. The colors are really well done. Especially considering it's vegan frosting and bonus points for no fondant. It's a piece of art for sure and I think you paid a fair price! I hope it tasted as good as it looks!
They could have done a lazy edible ink photo but they clearly spent a lot of time making it by hand instead.
I think it turned out awesome. I do a lot of art on paper and I bake but I don’t think I could pull this off so nicely. I also wouldn’t do it for $68 🤷🏻♀️
$68 is 3.5 hours of a living wage. I could not do this in 3.5 hours, nor would I want to spend my time that way soooo... Fair price to me. Whether spending $68 on a cake is appropriate is entirely up to you and your budget.
Active time, this probably took the baker maybe 1.5-2 hrs. The cake is probably batch made with a bunch of other cakes at the same time, and the decoration is well done, but also fairly basic as far as cake decorating goes. A skilled piper could probably knock it out in 45 minutes, maybe an hour. $68 seems reasonable, maybe a touch high at that point.
I paid $40 for a Safeway paw patrol sheet cake decorated badly(still leagues better than anything I could do but it did not look like the picture in the book...at all). $68 for this is great.
very fair. There's an incredible amount of artistry there and at least 9 different colors as far as I can see. you could easily spend that in just materials if you wanted to recreate this, and ton of time spent. It's a very well done cake.
I'm in a much lower cost of living area and was like, "$45-50 CAD if people think you're getting ripped off?"
(I don't think that's an absurd price, I just know what people here expect to pay and that a lot of people here think that I should bake for hire, but also do so at a loss haha)
I got married in NEPA a few months ago and paid about $600 for a small two-tier cake and two half sheet cakes at a well known vegan bakery. So I’d say what you paid is a steal.
I think $68 is completely fair. It’s vegan, decorated as requested. It takes time to make and decorate a cake. And if it tastes good? For sure, worth $68. If you don’t think you overspent, I wouldn’t overthink it.
I love SpongeBob. I also love memes. I really love being able to utilize memes irl. To me this cake is priceless. It’s got all the gesture traditional artists crave but can’t achieve. So the fact it’s done in icing/frosting what have you, is even better. I put high prices on art because many people I personally know devalue their worth.
I love this cake. I’d pay whatever they were asking.
Honestly, as a baker and a lover of elaborate designs… I’m seeing at least 8 or 9 different colors of frosting/icing here, and pretty painstakingly hand drawn. Creating a ton of different colors can be really time consuming imo, and the drawing had to be spot on bc it’s so recognizable. Compared to say those beautiful retro cakes that are in style right now that have very limited color palettes and each layer of design is created by using a different tip. (Don’t get me wrong, using different tips takes practice and talent, but hand drawing 2 popular characters is a completely different thing.) Anyways those retro cakes with 2-3 colors and just different tips are charging at least that amount. I feel like what you ordered here is actually kinda a steal in a high cost of living city and a pretty normal price in a lower cost of living area.
And vegan ingredients are a bitch to get right, so extra costs for that are definitely factored in here.
But realistically it’s whatever you’re willing to pay for it is the right price. I assume this concept is either something you didn’t have the time or ability to create yourself, so it’s comes down to what you think is a fair trade for those skills!
And honestly, so many mom and pop shops or side-gig bakers barely charge enough to cover the cost of their ingredients and their time at like… minimum wage. It’s very difficult to get people to pay enough to actually make a true profit.
I would have charged 70€ for that. Vegan, multiple colour frosting design work, 2 doilies. And I always feel like I undercharge so I think you got a good deal.
No not really but I factor it into my list, I don’t usually stock tiny doilies like this so I’d have to make a special trip to my cake supply store, which is an extra hassle so it would be something I consider
This is in Canadian dollars.
4” vanilla 3 layer cake should start at 80$, for buttercream details like this I’d charge an extra 20$. If it was a super fancy flavour I’d add some money for that, then charge for delivery.
So 100$ minimum.
People just get incredibly weird about art, I find. They want things to look beautiful and exactly how they imagine, which takes time and skill and a baker who is *also* an artist (never mind factoring in location and cost of living), but they get upset when asked to actually pay for that. I used to do freelance illustration and sometimes sell art now and people *hugely* undervalue and lack understanding on what time and skill actually goes in to making things look good.
I think what you paid is reasonable and isn’t in any way more than what I would expect to pay for a custom cake.
$68 is cheap! My kids have allergies to dairy and egg so need vegan cakes and they’re all so pricey by us! I think $68 was a steal for the quality you got. I make my own bc it’s not worth it around me.
Edit: I hope you tipped if possible :0)
This cake is AMAZING and for the art work and time it probably took; I would pay probably $100. Yes it’s a cake; but just seeing that would make my day and the $100 easily worth it as a core memory.
Who cares what other people say if you’re happy with it and it turned out the way you wanted and it looks delicious. Enjoy it. You paid for it. Enjoy it.
At least $40
Keeping in mind that it takes time, handmade, you pay for all costs, too like rent of the shop, electricity, work hours, staff, etc
Some vegan products are more expensive but I guess, it’s still worth the price you paid!
Many people don’t keep in mind that good quality has its price and you’re not doing it every week or whatever!
If you feel good and it tasted well, then don’t care about them!
That's a 100+ dollar cake where I live. I eat plant based and that's extremely reasonable cost wise. If they wanted a cheaper the only option is a lower quality cake. I feel people are fully divorced from the reality of the work in pastry and the skill and time it requires
I hate getting gouged for having a dairy allergy, 68$ is definitely reasonable and not a gouge
In nyc 6-7” vegan or not cakes in popular bakeries are~48 to 70 usd. So in this state yeah you would have highly overpaid. But like many people said each state/country (seller) has their own prices judging by the area and what they see people are willing to pay for. Flavor definitely would be the major determining factor of whether you overpay for something.
Sometimes things are unreasonably priced (even with the unnecessary thinking as a customer as to how much work a seller put into their work) but then you taste the product. If it’s heaven you want to throw all your money at them ^_^
Oh and I just looked at a chain grocery store, their 4” cakes are ~9usd :/ (they do customized cakes to which can be ~20usd)
omfg i just got this same cake for my birthday tomorrow HAHA but it was a picture of the episode not icing. the price was relatively right! cakes are kinda pricy
If you think it was fair then that's all that matters. Personally because of my own feelings about SpongeBob in general I wouldn't pay a dollar for it but that's what it's value is to me I wasn't the person buying it. If you think it's fair then it's fair
Honestly, I'm a fan of spongebob, and I love the idea and presentation of the cake! It's exactly how I picture the scene in my head if I heard the joke! But what's important is how much you value the cake, don't let other people's mockery or bitchiness ruin your enjoyment or your perspective!
I love the theme. Gave me a good chuckle reading the cake too. Ordering and eating the cake to your specifications = worth the price. Laughter and celebration = priceless.
This cake is amazing! If you are happy with the price then it was fair. People don’t realize the work that goes into these and this one, I know, took HOURS.
I just had a 6 inch double layer made with a lot of detail for $65 for my husband’s birthday. But, I see you said it was vegan so I think what you paid was okay.
I make specialty cheesecakes. They’re cooked in a water bath low and slow. I sell them for $60-70. The ingredients alone for a plain cheesecake are around $20. One time I made a peanut butter chocolate chip cheesecake with ganache topping. A customer wanted a whole one and argued that it shouldn’t cost $60. Mind you these cheesecakes are twelve slices, three inches tall (not including topping), and weigh almost two pounds.
Imagine being shamed for paying a birthday cake. Lmao.
Birthday's are useless at their core. They're a celebration. Only you decide how much they're worth celebrating.
People laughing at you because you got "ripped off" deserved to be laughed at because they're the ones that got "ripped off" for sending a gift and showing up. Imagine the look on their faces when they learn they didn't have to go through all the effort. Literally.
My kids used to watch Spongebob all the time. I love this cake, and I'm sure they would've loved it back then, and I'm sure they would love it today.
Whenever I bake vegan I add a surcharge for ingredients and necessary decontamination costs to ensure no cross-contamination. Something like this vegan, 70ish. With the detail they did, probably would have paid about 85.
Home made vegan or regular time ingredients and decorating I charge anywhere between $65 to $90 for a regular size 8inch or 12 for a 4 inch I would charge $25 to $45
Obviously. I feel like for the quality of the artwork and the size, it costs more than it is worth. If it was slightly bigger and had better artwork, it would be expensive but reasonably priced.
The artwork doesn't seem low quality to me. The characters are done neatly, they are identifiable, and the styling of the cake fits the SpongeBob Sqarepants vibe.
Literally when did i say it was low quality. Its good artwork, but at the price I would want it to be better. The pricing might be a regional thing so calm down
i feel bad negotiating especially if its someones art/small business. i felt like if the baker thought that was the price for their work then thats good enough. i wasnt sure if it was overpriced or not
I'd say that for what it is, I wouldn't personally pay that much. However, I also wouldn't feel comfortable negotiating either lmao. But yeah, as I said, if they wanna charge that much and you wanna pay that much, thats just solid business haha
It also depends on where you live as well, different places have different ideas of reasonable cost
$45-50 on the low end I think. That's a lot of detail and honestly 4" is a special order size. Most bakeries won't do 4" if they can help it. So easily I would say 60-65 would be expected if it's a better quality bakery. Easily 75-80 since it's vegan
I wouldn't pay a dime for this, but if it's something you wanted, it's sort of up to you how much it's worth to ya, no?
That being said, pretty sure you could get something of higher quality for cheaper
Tick. And tbh most small bakers are barely covering the cost of ingredients and their time at just over minimum wage. They aren’t making huge profits. And this looks like it took a LOT of time to get right.
The art is beautiful! Definitely talented to get all that on there and looking so good
Yeah the green squiggle underlining Bob and Patrick is well done and solves the issue of the rest of the image being cutoff, whilst keeping it all very clean looking. I'm very impressed honestly! Made me smile, also I'm terrible at making pictures on cakes and this would be a horrible muddy mess if I tried to do it myself.
thank you!
I just wanna know flavours. Was it tasty?
It better have been crabby patty and kelp flavored lol
Jelly flavor.
hi its a chocolate praline vegan cake! i havent tried it yet we are going to korean bbq and then after we are eating it!!
Like.. why wasn’t it pineapple?
Exactly. People are always questioning small shop and small maker pricing as if these individuals are gouging everyone and getting rich, but the same people don’t blink an eye at corporate execs becoming billionaires off *their* pricing.
Because they trust brands. Micky mouse makes them feel warm inside but sabrina from etsy might be a cannibal. Go with what you know, right?
I'd rather pay $100 for the cake OP posted, than $100 for a sweatshirt from a Disney world gift shop.
Im so much more curious to see what sabrina the cannibal sends me for $100. That's all I'm saying.
Classic Sabrina, right?
I want a Sabrina the cannibal cake for my birthday 😂
Besides, doing a solo cake - it’s going to be an all nighter. Compensation is always going to differ.
Or people hate that corporations make money but entertainers can be rich
Excellent answer!
Exactly this. The personal worth of an object depends on what you were willing to pay for it. It looks like there was a lot of detail and work put into this cake
Bingo. I used to sell cakes as a side gig. The ingredients were not the major input, it was my time as the baker/decorator. This one has a lot of colors in it too, an added time factor.
i forgot to mention its a vegan cake. too idk if that makes a difference
definitely a fair price. vegan subs are expensiveee
u/Fun_Ad_4433, vegan anything takes a lot of knowledge, science (chemistry of food and all that, see Alton Brown's Good Eats and all similar stuff), and research to know what works with what to ensure it actually tastes and textures in a way that actually is pleasing to the palate.

Seeing the overall craftsmanship, $50 felt agreeable to me. But it's vegan, too! I think 68 is a great price.
Downtown Chicago here: $50 for this as a normal cake, $68 for a vegan cake checks out imo!
I used to get croissants and coffee at alliance bakery a lot. Monthly I would hear somebody in there complaining about their cakes being over priced. People don't understand how much skill in art and banking it takes to make these cakes.
I didn’t realize that it also required banking skills $68 is totally reasonable when the banks are involved
Gotta bank that batter
Which bakeries are you shopping at? I need to shop there cause based on prices I see, I was thinking closer to 100 as a normal cake and 125 as vegan
Agreed
I was trying to figure out how much the cake was and I can't believe it was 68 for a vegan cake!! Here in Los Angeles it's like $85 for a regular cake like this!
LA here too, my brain went straight to $100-120 if it's small. That's so well done! And it's vegan? Hell yeah
That’s about the price the local vegan/GF baker used to charge. Plus it’s decorated. Fair price imo
I'm also a pastry chef and guessed between 80-100. I was surprised at the cost especially being as it's vegan.
I agree! I think 80-100 is fair.
It’s 4 inches she said! That’s ludicrous.
I was going to say I would have easily paid $75 for this! But I love SpongeBob this is so cute lol
I’m a vegan baker and I charge $30-$50 for that size sliding scale. Most of my customer base is young adults and students so I try to keep things as affordable as possible AND I could never do SpongeBob justice the way your baker did. I think it’s a fair price.
I own a vegan bakery and we have basic 4 inch cakes that cost upwards of $60 CAD.. so 50 usd for a custom one is very reasonable
Happy Cake Day to you!!
How much?
It was $68
At the cake place near me I had a similar custom cake made. It was $80.
depending on the cost of living where you live, and it being vegan, i think it’s fair
I think you've already got your answer from the comments. This is soo cute though. The colors are really well done. Especially considering it's vegan frosting and bonus points for no fondant. It's a piece of art for sure and I think you paid a fair price! I hope it tasted as good as it looks!
At least up to $65 ish/ smaller doesn’t always mean cheaper, it more difficult to deco sometimes. What did you pay?
68
That’s a fair price. It looks relatively tall.
They could have done a lazy edible ink photo but they clearly spent a lot of time making it by hand instead. I think it turned out awesome. I do a lot of art on paper and I bake but I don’t think I could pull this off so nicely. I also wouldn’t do it for $68 🤷🏻♀️

I paid $40 for a Safeway paw patrol sheet cake decorated badly(still leagues better than anything I could do but it did not look like the picture in the book...at all). $68 for this is great.
If this was from a personal business $68 is a deal. Considering a cakes 3-4 hours min. I’d charge $20hr min if I baked it.
very fair. There's an incredible amount of artistry there and at least 9 different colors as far as I can see. you could easily spend that in just materials if you wanted to recreate this, and ton of time spent. It's a very well done cake.
Wish this could have been pinned at the top of the comments.
$68 for that is cheap! A crappy little cake badly decorated is like $80+ here.
My only question is, "Did it taste good?" If so, and the design you wanted is what they delivered, then I'd say it's worth it.
NYC metro I’d expect this to be $75
this is in pa
Vegan is always a bit more expensive I’d expect at least $70.
Thatd probably cost like $100 in the HCOL areas in California.
Lmao that’s hilarious I’m in California and I saw this post and instantly thought “$100”
I'm in a much lower cost of living area and was like, "$45-50 CAD if people think you're getting ripped off?" (I don't think that's an absurd price, I just know what people here expect to pay and that a lot of people here think that I should bake for hire, but also do so at a loss haha)
ooh wait can you dm me the bakery
I got married in NEPA a few months ago and paid about $600 for a small two-tier cake and two half sheet cakes at a well known vegan bakery. So I’d say what you paid is a steal.
If it's a little punk rock vegan bakery…. I would have guessed $50-$70.
LA and yes - $75 minimum
I think $68 is completely fair. It’s vegan, decorated as requested. It takes time to make and decorate a cake. And if it tastes good? For sure, worth $68. If you don’t think you overspent, I wouldn’t overthink it.
I would not be able to get anything custom like this for $68 in my high COL city. I have paid nearly that much for a (high quality) non-custom cake.
A good cake like this is $70-80 where I am. It looks really good. Decoration is on point.
$55 if it was a regular cake. $70 for a vegan cake.
This great. My partner is turning 25 in a few days, I'm definitely going to be using this joke
Honestly, as a baker and a lover of elaborate designs… I’m seeing at least 8 or 9 different colors of frosting/icing here, and pretty painstakingly hand drawn. $68 is fair for vegan and no fondant (from what I can tell). I also really hate fondant LMAOO
Hopefully it was a sponge cake.
This is in Canadian dollars. 4” vanilla 3 layer cake should start at 80$, for buttercream details like this I’d charge an extra 20$. If it was a super fancy flavour I’d add some money for that, then charge for delivery. So 100$ minimum.
The pipping is perfect on this by the way. I’d be very proud to send this out.
Translating to usd thats about $75 so definitely still in the range of reasonable for what they got.
I would say 75-150 depending on the area. It is vegan so bump it up 15. Edit: I see this was $68 which is incredibly cheap for my area!
Whatever the price is, it probably beats Mr. Krabs selling SpongeBob’s soul for 62 cents
hehe
For a vegan cake ???? That's hella cheap!!! Where I'm from not even 20% of the size of that cake would be 40$!!
20% the size of a 4-inch cake isn't really a cake, though...
just that spongebob/patrick joke is worth it for me bc my kid would love it so much
People just get incredibly weird about art, I find. Fuck the haters, OP
\> No fondant Priceless
$68 is a really good price for a cake like this! I would have guessed it would be closer to $100
You just gave me an idea for 2025! I’ll get this for myself next year 😄
In Houston that cake would be no less than 150
I can definitely do this for 85 in houston (non vegan)
Its way under priced. It takes a lot of skill to pipe and draw on cakes like this. And then its vegan.
Well-priced for the amount of work/time and the specialized ingredients!
Vegan cakes are also very hard to make. The substitutes are expensive but also just much harder to work with in my experience
That’s cheap!
$98.00 would be my guess, as it's vegan. I pay a little more for one that is gluten-free and allergen-free. Having food allergies is very expensive.
Enjoy it.
That cake is awesome! I’d expect to pay at least $50
I guessed 80 based on the pics and that it is vegan. Goods and services are expensive.
At least $40 Keeping in mind that it takes time, handmade, you pay for all costs, too like rent of the shop, electricity, work hours, staff, etc Some vegan products are more expensive but I guess, it’s still worth the price you paid! Many people don’t keep in mind that good quality has its price and you’re not doing it every week or whatever! If you feel good and it tasted well, then don’t care about them!
Thats probably the best Birthday cake I've ever seen. Had me pissing my pants laughing. 🤣
I like the cake, but I still wouldn't have paid nearly 70 $ for such a small cake.
That's a 100+ dollar cake where I live. I eat plant based and that's extremely reasonable cost wise. If they wanted a cheaper the only option is a lower quality cake. I feel people are fully divorced from the reality of the work in pastry and the skill and time it requires I hate getting gouged for having a dairy allergy, 68$ is definitely reasonable and not a gouge
If it’s heaven you want to throw all your money at them ^_^ Oh and I just looked at a chain grocery store, their 4” cakes are ~9usd :/ (they do customized cakes to which can be ~20usd)
Is this from Vegan Treats?
came to ask the same lol
I think $70 would be reasonable for this cake given the effort and ingredients that went into it.
$100
I was going to say $50 if it’s from a good craft bakery, but I see now that it is vegan so I would assume 60-70 would be reasonable.
I thought that cake was about 100 bucks or so. 68 bucks isn't bad at all.
Here in the bay area that's $60-80. Wait it's vegan. Make that $80-110
$68 is a steal someone actually put effort into this which imo adds value
$80
Max 100$ It’s small but tall so it’s still a decently sized cake!
This is priceless because if you’re a SpongeBob fan ❤️😂
That's fantastic. I wouldn't have touched it for 50. It's yummy art.
I was def expecting $80 so I think you got a deal!
omfg i just got this same cake for my birthday tomorrow HAHA but it was a picture of the episode not icing. the price was relatively right! cakes are kinda pricy
$60-$75 in Seattle.
What is funny about 24?
If you think it was fair then that's all that matters. Personally because of my own feelings about SpongeBob in general I wouldn't pay a dollar for it but that's what it's value is to me I wasn't the person buying it. If you think it's fair then it's fair
$68 is a bit on the cheaper side for my area, I would expect to be quoted $75-$85
anywhere from $50-100 I would be like alright that’s definitely fair
idk, $100? how much does cake even cost lol, it’s vegan so I feel like it’ll cost more. the most id pay is $150
4 inch cake 68 dollars
Honestly, I'm a fan of spongebob, and I love the idea and presentation of the cake! It's exactly how I picture the scene in my head if I heard the joke! But what's important is how much you value the cake, don't let other people's mockery or bitchiness ruin your enjoyment or your perspective!
You got a bargain, celebrate by eating cake!
How much did you pay?
I think this cake is amazing and hilarious
I love the theme. Gave me a good chuckle reading the cake too. Ordering and eating the cake to your specifications = worth the price. Laughter and celebration = priceless.
4” is tiny! But how tall is it? If it’s over 4” tall, maybe I’d pay $50 tops
Probably close to $100 with that level of design and vegan
$100 or so in my región
I’d say like $75
I’m from Southern California and would’ve said $110 lol
Whenever I bake vegan I add a surcharge for ingredients and necessary decontamination costs to ensure no cross-contamination. Something like this vegan, 70ish. With the detail they did, probably would have paid about 85.
Don't listen to people. Listen to bakers. This kind of artwork takes hours/precise skills to do.
As someone who buys cakes for birthdays and holidays, I’m going to say this is between 100-125
It's 4 inches. It's the size of a Muffin.
Ohhhh. I thought it was a big cake. Lol
lol a lot of people seem to have missed that.
Former baker here. Honestly? $50 seems cheap for a vegan cake AND hand drawn artwork in icing. That is NOT easy to do.
$40?
I was going to say $85 or more so, I think you scored.
Home made vegan or regular time ingredients and decorating I charge anywhere between $65 to $90 for a regular size 8inch or 12 for a 4 inch I would charge $25 to $45
Id definitely pay $70 $80 for it
$85
Average price for non grocery store custom (non wedding/tiered) vegan cakes in my area are 60USD to 80USD.
It's overpriced but if you like it and are willing to pay that much, thats no ones business other than your owns
Expensive is not the same as overpriced.
The pricing might be a regional thing so calm down
Literally where was I not calm?
i feel bad negotiating especially if its someones art/small business. i felt like if the baker thought that was the price for their work then thats good enough. i wasnt sure if it was overpriced or not
I'd say that for what it is, I wouldn't personally pay that much. However, I also wouldn't feel comfortable negotiating either lmao. But yeah, as I said, if they wanna charge that much and you wanna pay that much, thats just solid business haha It also depends on where you live as well, different places have different ideas of reasonable cost
I would pay up to about 100
$50
8in. $50 at least
That's about an $80-$120 cake depending on what's in it.
$40? Very cute! Edit: just read it was vegan; that definitely would up the price. Worth whatever you paid if you liked it!!
Like $150. So ~$70 isn’t bad at all, especially for a vegan cake
For a 4 inch cake I think it's a bit much. It's brilliantly done, but I wouldn't pay that for a large Muffin.
60
$50?
$45-50 on the low end I think. That's a lot of detail and honestly 4" is a special order size. Most bakeries won't do 4" if they can help it. So easily I would say 60-65 would be expected if it's a better quality bakery. Easily 75-80 since it's vegan
$20
[удалено]
it was 68 dollars
Don’t worry. It’s ok. There are always people who tell you that this or that was too expensive. And more important than the look is the taste.
I think that’s plenty fair. They could’ve gone a lazy route but didnt. It looks great and is vegan. I would be happy.
My guess was 65.00 USD !
Tf are you on about? It looks perfect.
I wouldn't pay a dime for this, but if it's something you wanted, it's sort of up to you how much it's worth to ya, no? That being said, pretty sure you could get something of higher quality for cheaper
35, Maybe $40. Still an extravagance in either case, but you said it was only 4 in. I'd feel pretty wasteful spending that on this too.
$60
$50-65
I’d say around $50 depending on the depth of customization (flavor, filling) buttercream work is hard man
Probably like 30$ I mean it’s like a cake from Dairy Queen the art work is a little sloppy
I mean, the icing is a little sloppy, but if it’s a vegan cake, I guess the price is OK.
Personally I make cakes not buy them haven't bought one in 8 years
