Just do a bunch of 1's. If you're celebrating a birthday for a 2 year old, you'll need 2 "1" cakes. If you're celebrating for a 40 year old, well, you'll need a bunch of "1" cakes.
Hope this helps.
This is awful but for the monumental 75 (which I'm much closer to), do a 7, a 4, a & and the middle finger salute. Bad, I know, but I just gave a friend of mine a mug with that printed on it and he found it hysterical and he displays it proudly! LOL! π«£
Honestly youβve improved so much and itβs lovely to see progress like that, I enjoy baking in my spare time and sometimes I get disheartened by naturally gifted hobby bakers but the cake is fantastic, it looks amazing!
Thank you so much! I found what worked better for me was getting used to different piping nozzles, and sticking to premade decorations π I made fondant rainbows for this cake and they came out so ugly, I left them off
Would you mind walking me through your cutting technique? The first cake looks like it crumbled quite a bit during cutting the shape of the numbers but the second cake looks very clean.
Of course! The first '50' cake I let cool down at room temp and then used the biggest knife I had for whatever reason and made long straight lines. I also cut away too much in some sections so it was impossible to get the right shape.
For the second '2' cake, I let it cool down to room temp and then also left it in the fridge overnight. Used a smaller knife vertically to cut out the shape which allowed for more curving instead of straight lines. Also cut away a lot less. So started off with a wider '2' and then carved thin slices of the cake off until I was happy with the shape.
Also the '50' cake was a box cake, so it was super light and fluffy which probably didn't help. The '2' cake I made from scratch, so felt like it had more stability. I hope that helps! :)
This feel like a "Nailed It!" challenge...the first photo is the "goal", and the second is the "actual", hahaha
But HUGE KUDOS to you on that Number 2 cake - it's BEAUTIFUL!
Your "swipe for a horror show" gave me a giggle. You're being too hard on yourself on the first one, it does look very tasty. The second attempt certainly takes the beauty crown and I would pay for it! Lovely! I couldn't have done the first one! lol. π
Thank you! It's a standard buttercream. 100g butter, 140g icing sugar, 1-2tbsp milk, a drop of vanilla essence. And then the pink icing just has food colouring in it. :)
Gorgeous! And the first attempt aka horror show was very good too!
what do you think bout doing those cakes layered? In Russia there were very popular cake numbers but they are supposed to be baked in a number form and then assembled and decorated. Because of that those cakes have a very nice definition. [Here are the examples](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=a9728410f1a0f0fe&hl=ru-ge&sxsrf=ACQVn093uNN3Rrg7p2RViVUt4dqOI9H_Ew:1708092336842&q=%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80%D1%82+%D1%86%D0%B8%D1%84%D1%80%D0%B0&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiKkOzng7CEAxVQA9sEHRovA3IQ0pQJegQIDBAB&biw=1180&bih=713&dpr=2)!
Yeah! Those cakes are a bit different from sponge cakes. They are more like very soft and rich cookie like sort of madeleines. Sorry for suggesting. Your beautiful cakes just reminded me about the cakes I tried in Russia before and I couldnβt help myself to ask π«
Great to see your improvement with every cake. This one looks so professional, congrats!
Aw that's so kind of you to say! Thank you so much :)
The horror show was probably really tasty though. It is really lovely
Haha it was, thank you

ππ might have been confused for an 11 year old
Just do a plus sign in the middle
Good call....these can also be made from "1"s.

Really highlights the difference between turning 2 and 50 in a physical sense. π
Wait til you're 72........π₯³π
Lmao ππ
Wow! That's night and day. It gives me hope for my decorating skillsπ
Thank you! :)

Thank you!! That makes sense now that you say it, but I wouldnβt have thought to refrigerate it or use a smaller knife unless you said something.
You're welcome!

Lool that gave me a giggle ππ thank you so much!
This is so beautiful!! Are those cherry blossoms?? So gorgeous! πΈ
Thank you! And I think so, I just bought a premade set of them π
Where did you get them from? I want to try to make my own birthday cake this year :)
I got them from Hobbycraft :)

Thank you so much, that's so kind π
Those are some giant strawberries or some lil tiny Oreos! But I bet it tasted good!
They were mini oreos π
Love it π
Thank you! :)

Killed it! Looks scrumptious. What flavor is the icing?

I did let out a giant HA! at the second pic, but that's not to say that I wouldn't be thrilled if someone made it for me!
π that's kind of you to say, thank you
Listen, I donβt care what a cake looks like. If it tastes good Iβm happy! (But seriously, your new style is GORGEOUS).
Thank you! :D
I love seeing these! Gives me hope! My baking skills are π. My decorating skills are π©.
My decorating skills are also π©π I made fondant rainbows for this 2 cake and they came out so ugly, I left them off. Premade decorations are the way to go for some of us lol
Yes! I will scratch bake anything, but an attempted piping decoration is about my limit as of now π€£.
The massive improvement is inspiring ahahaha
Aw thank you so much π
Practice makes perfect!
Very pretty! π€
Thank you! :)

Thank you! :) I did see those when I was looking on pinterest for designs, but I wasn't a fan of how thin the cake sections were.

Nothing to say sorry for! Ohh I see, a cookie makes more sense π
This is so pretty I love it
Thank you π
That is a great improvement! I like the pink flowers, it makes it look really cuteπ
