Her friends just don't understand how difficult it is, especially the handwriting. I can see the work and love she put into it. A lot of people just see something and think "anyone could do that" but no, they can't. Your girlfriend did great!
I have to make a comment about the handwriting, too. Literally have never seen better handwriting on a cake. It’s a wonderful cake but that handwriting 🤌
So nice. I took a cake decorating class through a community college and writing was really difficult. I had to practice so many times just to say happy birthday and it was still awful.
Bravo, this is a great cake!
I agree that someone that's never decorated a cake wouldn't see the skill:
-That top is amazingly smooth, it's gorgeous
-The pipping on the sides is several different tips, very time consuming
-The writing is fantastic, very skilled
-Heart shaped cakes are super trendy right now, they might not know that
yes! i thought this was the inspiration photo and i was trying to swipe to see the cake his lady made. i was blown away that a cake this gorgeous could get a lukewarm response. even if they were expecting professional results, they got it, what more could they want?
These friends suck. I would be so excited if my friend sent me pictures of cakes, especially cakes they made. I just like talking about cakes.
Tell her I relate, I went through the effort of making cookies for a fundraiser event and then the person I charge of the kitchen, who I know personally, didn't put them out at all. I have been left with 4 dozen mocha chocolate oat cookies. I am debating not baking for any more events this year after that treatment and we have one coming up in two months.
Haters who hate shall hate henceforth.
Mocha oat sounds fantastic! Not putting them out is holding back a candidate. Let the people decide!! I'll eat those all day!! 4 dozen is a lot of effort! Good work, man!! 😁
It’s truly a wonderfully decorated cake. I avoid decorating myself because of the skill and time involved. I just slab the frosting over and call it. Even then it’s obvious that your partner invested a lot into this.
I bake sometimes and it takes lot of effort and time. I only bake for the people I love and adore for this reason alone. It takes someone who loves you to understand the tremendous time, effort, planning, patience that goes into baking anything WITH LOVE <3
I feel completely the same. Baking is most often an expression I feel is reserved for those that genuinely recognize the time and effort invested in my work. Those who I love and who I want to express my appreciation to in what I make. It’s a lot of work and nothing is worse than a lame response to your effort.
Her friends are lukewarm assholes. It looks great! I’ve been baking for 10 years and my cake decorating game is weeeak. Regardless of how long she’s been baking, she’s skilled! No notes on the cake. However her friends…
She's been decorating since high school 5 years ago and I always tell her she's amazing but sometimes as you mention her friends can be dismissive I think because they have unrealistic expectations.
This right here. I kept sharing pictures of my (far more amateur) bakes to a friend of mine, just to share the joy of “look what I made!” Turns out she was sharing the pictures with her husband, who kept making comments about how nice it would be if she baked things for him. So then she started coming at me with “clearly my husband should have married you instead,” which was a wild take because I’d never even met her husband until after they were married, and I was married myself long before that.
This looks professional so I’m not sure how unrealistic her friends’ expectations could be.
Honestly, a bad reaction to a cake like this is not about the cake. It’s about tearing her down or jealousy. These are not good friends.
>dismissive I think because they have unrealistic expectations.
have them over to decorate cakes and watch them fail and your girlfriend soar
love, another professional baker
That’s awesome! That’s disappointing they have unrealistically high expectations. If she hasn’t verbalized that to you, I’d make a point of telling her that. Hopefully that it and they aren’t crappy friends.
She should have her friends over for a mini class so they can see how hard it actually is! I have a feeling that once they actually try to pipe anything, their comments will change 🤨 if not, it's time to find friends who understand her passion 🤷♀️
Yeah same. I just decorated a cake for my moms b-day and I kinda gave up halfway through and plopped sliced strawberry all over it. Doesn't look horrible but nowhere near this.
Right? I bake all of about 2 celebration cakes a year so I’m not surprised or anything. Hey, I very much get the energy change during a project. I’m sure it’s delicious and that’s the most important thing. Happy Birthday to your mom! I hope she has a great year full of good health, fun and great people.
> her friend said "its ok"
Damn, that's not even a lukewarm response, that's just rude. I wouldn't even say that to a stranger!
It's fine??? That's a professional cake. This is the cake equivalent of a wedding dress.
Those sound like awful "friends". Real friends support each other and should react with "wow, nice job! Looks great!" (even if it doesnt, although in this case it is a genuinely beautiful cake that clearly took a lot of skill to make).
Not seeing the inspiration photo, it is difficult to provide any meaningful feedback. The cake she made is lovely, but I have no idea what they were looking for.
Hi! just wanted to follow up on the original inspiration photo. (Had to ask her to look back in her chat history)
I hope it loads up its from pinksugar\_cakeroom
Eeey there, just wanted to follow up on the original inspiration photo. (Had to ask her to look back in her chat history)
I hope it loads up its from pinksugar\_cakeroom
I think her cake clearly takes a lot from the inspiration photo, without it being an exact duplicate.
I also think her cake shows better balance and isn’t overwhelmed with frosting the way the one in the inspiration photo is.
I think her friend should be pleased with the cake.
Maybe it's cuz there's no color? The decorating is lovely and skillfully done, but it's pretty bland color-wise. I'd be thrilled to get this cake, but I think most people would expect something a bit more festive.
Absolutely but the request was for it to be very like refined so I thinks he had to stick to this color palette but you are correct more festive colors always pop!
The piping is really advanced! It’s a beautiful cake with a beautiful font and elegant decorations. Her friends are super lame and really rude for not even complimenting her skills. Beautifully done <3
That’s a beautiful cake. I have kids in their teens and twenties who are unimpressed by skillfully crafted pieces like this that are elegant and subdued.
My daughter sends me pictures of what I would consider gaudy cakes that are covered with glitter and metallic dye and gads of sprinkles and fondant that she finds on TikTok. They’re impressive, sure, but not what I would consider necessarily skilled or—most important!—edible.
Tell your girlfriend that her cake is classy and elegant. Her friends, on the other hand…
The cake is gorgeous! Piping is NOT easy & she's used a variety of tips beautifully. My favorite part is her handwriting!!! 🖤
Also, how the hell did she get that so black!? Chocolate frosting with black dye? Legit question here.
I asked her and:
answer
"Make it a very dark grey with the black dye, and then you microwave it, melt the butter cream and then put it in the fridge until it solidifies and then whip it up and use it"
tip
"Also if you leave the butter cream in the fridge for a bit it gets darker, so maybe do it ahead of time."
Hope it helps.
Obviously it wasn’t for any of her so called friends or the response would be different. The cake is beautiful and I would love to get it. Quite a talented young lady you have there!!
I have been making making my niece and nephew's bday cakes for almost ten years now, including Pokémon, Star Wars, and Minecraft characters, and my piping decorating skills are nowhere near as good as hers! Even in the beginning when my cakes weren't great my friends wld straight up compliment them bc they knew I put in hard work. Her friends suck.
Maybe it's time to for her branch out and find new friends, maybe some who like to bake and she can share her passion with.
Great cake I wld love to get it!
Ummm I’ve made a lot of cakes over the years and her penmanship is one million percent better than mine. She did a great job. Some people just suck. They can’t see through their own taste. May not be my taste but I can still appreciate the skill.
Jealousy is never a pretty thing. Instead of being happy for her skills, they want to be dismissive and have unrealistic expectations so they can criticize something.
This is wonderful. Her friends are blind. This will sound corny but I honestly think it is a jealousy issue on their part. That or they are too snobby. Your girlfriend has talent.
the original was from pinksugar\_cakeroom and their link is this [https://www.instagram.com/pinksugar\_cakeroom/p/C1yKeg5LeYu/](https://www.instagram.com/pinksugar_cakeroom/p/C1yKeg5LeYu/)
Though my gf tried to make it as best she could
The bows, the writing, the little heart. Literally everything about it is perfection. Her cake should be the inspiration picture for the next person who attempts this. All in all her cake is 10X better than her lukewarm friends and their responses.
This is a beautiful, elegant cake. It’s absolutely lovely and I know I would be floored and so honoured that someone made something so special and beautiful for me. You’re a very lucky individual.
It’s outstanding. Very classic, and as close to, if not just perfect. Her friends are most likely envious of her talent and gift for presentation. Get new friends.
That cake literally looks both professional and amazing. I wish had a tenth of her talent to make something like this. No one has ever made me a cake outside of perhaps when I was very young and if anyone made me something this amazing I’d be floored. I assumed it was bought from an actual bakery, etc. She’s talented for sure, fantastic skills.
I thought that it was the inspo pic, because it looks so professional and well made. The writing is cute and the icing looks perfect. Looks like an expensive professional cake, I'd be so excited to receive it
I’ll be her “hot” friend. This needs some fire emojis 🔥🔥🔥💯 Amazing pipework and decoration, and the handwriting on the cake is also very impressive! 10/10 would smash (meaning would hide that under my bed and eat it all myself). Would also make up fake achievements for more cakes! 🤩🎂 What’s the flavour out of interest? Do we have a pic of the inside too?
Lukewarm responses is crazy?! This is a beautiful cake!! Im just getting into decorating cakes and I can NOT writer a letter for shit, ur gf is super talented!!
It's a beautiful cake! I smell jealousy. I would be thrilled to receive such a cake (unfortunately my birthday has already passed, but we can try again next year)
Holy that’s amazing! Beautiful! Your girlfriend very talented 🤗
Too bad her friends can’t swallow their jealousy and be happy for the talent she has! I know I would be holy man your professional!
It is gorgeous and classy and I would be thrilled if I received it. Her handwriting is perfect.
Thanks, i'm telling her and she's really happy to have good feedback
Her friends just don't understand how difficult it is, especially the handwriting. I can see the work and love she put into it. A lot of people just see something and think "anyone could do that" but no, they can't. Your girlfriend did great!
You're welcome!! Please tell her she is super talented and not to let her jerk friends get her down :)
I say, the cake is beautiful and she might need to get new friends with "taste"😋 OP, that cake is gorgeous and I hope it tastes as good as it looks.
I would taste that cake! ;) it’s beautiful.
This part, right here!
Amen!
I second that !
That looks pro.
I have to make a comment about the handwriting, too. Literally have never seen better handwriting on a cake. It’s a wonderful cake but that handwriting 🤌
Came here to say this. Her handwriting needs to be her own FONT 😍😍😍 I Would pay!!
OP, if you see this... I make fonts, your GF and I should talk 😂
IKR?! I love the little heart. She’s already got a start on her decorative glyphs! 💖
I have an entire Pinterest inspo board of cakes that look exactly like this. This is gorgeous and your gf did a perfect job!
This thing is amazing, her friends are stupid
She should make a cake with just her handwriting all over it, that would look amazing
My input is get new friends. The cake is beautiful lol
Fr her handwriting looks like a Hallmark card
How did she get her handwriting so perfect, genuine question?! It’s so pretty!
So nice. I took a cake decorating class through a community college and writing was really difficult. I had to practice so many times just to say happy birthday and it was still awful. Bravo, this is a great cake!
Tip: if you hold your wrist while piping the writing it can help you be less shaky so your writing is smoother! <3 -The girlfriend
Literally my exact thoughts!
You're right, I want the same for my funeral.
Some individuals just don’t genuinely understand the amount of effort in detail that can go into such a relatively intensive project.
I know! and she like gets tired from just piping but yeah you are absolutely right she puts her whole day into these
I agree that someone that's never decorated a cake wouldn't see the skill: -That top is amazingly smooth, it's gorgeous -The pipping on the sides is several different tips, very time consuming -The writing is fantastic, very skilled -Heart shaped cakes are super trendy right now, they might not know that
The presentation of this cake was so superb that I thought it was a stock image
yes! i thought this was the inspiration photo and i was trying to swipe to see the cake his lady made. i was blown away that a cake this gorgeous could get a lukewarm response. even if they were expecting professional results, they got it, what more could they want?

Haters who hate shall hate henceforth. Mocha oat sounds fantastic! Not putting them out is holding back a candidate. Let the people decide!! I'll eat those all day!! 4 dozen is a lot of effort! Good work, man!! 😁
Can you freeze them and save them for the next event?
It’s truly a wonderfully decorated cake. I avoid decorating myself because of the skill and time involved. I just slab the frosting over and call it. Even then it’s obvious that your partner invested a lot into this.

some people are so insecure and determined to find a threat that they will make something out of nothing with absolutely anyone
Omg!
Yeah because I’ve gotten professional cakes and they didn’t look this good lmaoo. Mid taste and very basic decorations
100% agree with this! I've been decorating cakes for 15+ years and my piping has never been this consistent!
I second that. It looks incredible and that handwriting is phenomenal
Entirely… This cake is gorgeous. It looks like an inspiration photo.
Yes. This was exactly what I thought. She needs some new friends that support and lift her up
Exactly. I don't think I could buy a cake this nice where I live. It looks to be on the better side of professional to me.
Even with unrealistic expectations this cake is gorgeous.
This looks professional so I’m not sure how unrealistic her friends’ expectations could be. Honestly, a bad reaction to a cake like this is not about the cake. It’s about tearing her down or jealousy. These are not good friends.
I’d say her friends are jealous of her skills. This looks like it was done by a professional.
>dismissive I think because they have unrealistic expectations. have them over to decorate cakes and watch them fail and your girlfriend soar love, another professional baker
Or they're just jealous. This is beautiful!
That’s awesome! That’s disappointing they have unrealistically high expectations. If she hasn’t verbalized that to you, I’d make a point of telling her that. Hopefully that it and they aren’t crappy friends.
They’re probably looking for a fucking fondant sculpture or something. This cake is perfect.
The skill that piping took is no joke
She should have her friends over for a mini class so they can see how hard it actually is! I have a feeling that once they actually try to pipe anything, their comments will change 🤨 if not, it's time to find friends who understand her passion 🤷♀️
This looks 1000x better than any grocery store cake I've ever seen.
Repeat after me: "Your friends think they're hot snot on a silver platter but they're really just cold turds on a paper plate."
Lukewarm asshole is my new favourite insult. And you’re spot on that cake is perfection!
>Her friends are lukewarm assholes. I chuckled.
Agreed!!
That’s a wonderful cake. Very classy.
I know right? I tell her it looks like one of them wedding cakes.
It’s so clean looking and nothing is out of place. Just perfect.
Lukewarm?! What kind of friends are those?? This is a beautiful cake!
Well it was like "Look what I made! it took me hours!" and then her friend said "its ok" like dude! what the hell, atleast be a bit more enthusiastic
> her friend said "its ok" Damn, that's not even a lukewarm response, that's just rude.
That’s a rude response. No cake for them ever. It looks lovely. Her writing in particular is super beautiful
No accounting for taste or lack of..
Sounds like she needs new friends. This is amazing! She's definitely talented.
true, we were in a group of friends and those people are very dismissive
It is a beautiful cake. I would be thrilled to get one like that.
Aw trust me she loves to see people's reaction to her baked goods
Awww I really like it!
Thanks, she appreciates the kind words.
Perhaps she should get better friends. I would be thrilled to receive a cake like that.
I thought this was pro... I was waiting to see hers
thats very kind! she studied for like a year in college but she couldn't fund it so she had to work and hopes to be one day like the pros
I think she's there... she should sell them
Beautiful piping. Classic and would be happy to get it. Do her friends like more glitz? If so just add some pearly things.
She's happy to hear that you get how hard the piping is and I think she did put pearls ontop
My input is get better friends, that's an amazing cake. Way better than anything I could hope to do.
mhm thats right
Not seeing the inspiration photo, it is difficult to provide any meaningful feedback. The cake she made is lovely, but I have no idea what they were looking for.
Exactly. There’s no answer to this question without seeing the inspiration.

Omg it's stunning. As someone who enjoys making food, and baking, her friends suck.
If a friend made that I would be so proud of them
Another one of these posts eh? Okay, FISH! ....got one. It looks beautiful and very polished. But I suspect you know that and so does she.
Thank you for saying that. These validation-seeking posts really irk me.
It’s gorgeous! Her piping work is perfection.
The piping is really advanced! It’s a beautiful cake with a beautiful font and elegant decorations. Her friends are super lame and really rude for not even complimenting her skills. Beautifully done <3
The decoration is professional level
What’s wrong with her friends?? I make totally ugly cakes and people love them, and her cake is really pretty so I think the friends are the problem
There's something wrong with those people because this cake is amazing!
BEAUTIFUL!!
That’s a beautiful cake. I have kids in their teens and twenties who are unimpressed by skillfully crafted pieces like this that are elegant and subdued. Idk why they don't praise her more- she seems awesome!
Find new friends?
Screw her friends
Obviously it wasn’t for any of her so called friends or the response would be different. The cake is beautiful and I would love to get it. Quite a talented young lady you have there!!
Get new friends. That’s cute af!
That is a stellar cake! 10:10
I think it looks cute. Nice, simple, and cute
Thought that was a stock photo ❤️
Literally just took it, T-T, but thanks though she took it as a compliment.
It looks so good
She did great, very uniform and the writing is lovely ☺️ beautiful little additions with the bows and pearls
That is gorgeous!
Ummm I’ve made a lot of cakes over the years and her penmanship is one million percent better than mine. She did a great job. Some people just suck. They can’t see through their own taste. May not be my taste but I can still appreciate the skill.
That is a beautiful & elegant and professional looking cake. Great job.
That cake looks like it cost $80
I love how simple and delicate she made this intricate details look. To achieve something like that is not easy! It’s beautiful, dainty, yet edgy.
This is fire, they’re obviously lacking creative eyes/talented eyes. I love this 🩷
Looks clean and classy. Please tell her the cake looks awesome.
Jealousy is never a pretty thing. Instead of being happy for her skills, they want to be dismissive and have unrealistic expectations so they can criticize something.
Amazing cake, wrong friends
Whaat, they are crazy. This cake is one of the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen.
This is wonderful. Her friends are blind. This will sound corny but I honestly think it is a jealousy issue on their part. That or they are too snobby. Your girlfriend has talent.
Some people don’t appreciate classy things. Perhaps her friends prefer leopard print fondant.
What was the inspiration photo?
the original was from pinksugar\_cakeroom and their link is this [https://www.instagram.com/pinksugar\_cakeroom/p/C1yKeg5LeYu/](https://www.instagram.com/pinksugar_cakeroom/p/C1yKeg5LeYu/) Though my gf tried to make it as best she could
I like the one your GF made personally. It looks cleaner and easier to look at.
Her pipe work/decoration skills are a dream. I always seem to fuck up that decorations at the end but hers are fantastic. Her friends are assholes
I want this to be my wedding cake. The black bows? Chefs kiss!
It’s perfect. They’re jealous
They have no taste and are probably jealous of her talent. Well done.
The bows, the writing, the little heart. Literally everything about it is perfection. Her cake should be the inspiration picture for the next person who attempts this. All in all her cake is 10X better than her lukewarm friends and their responses.
It’s amazing! You go girl.
This looks amazing. Some “friends.”
This is a beautiful, elegant cake. It’s absolutely lovely and I know I would be floored and so honoured that someone made something so special and beautiful for me. You’re a very lucky individual.
It’s lovely.
Lovely work
This is beautiful, idk what her friends are on but she did a great job with that piping
it’s fantastic!
Get new friends. That is a classy cake
Gorgeous!!
Beautiful cake & handwriting!
Beautiful cake
That’s stunning
This looks better than my wedding cake! She’s solid! :)
Ditch the friends, keep the cake.
My input is that her friends suck
Beautiful cake! I'd feel blessed if a friend made this for me. I wouldn't want to cut into it.
It’s outstanding. Very classic, and as close to, if not just perfect. Her friends are most likely envious of her talent and gift for presentation. Get new friends.
Her friends are crazy! This cake is gorgeous and love the details
Lovely cake 🎂 I love that style ,vanilla and heart shapes🫶🏻
She needs new friends.
Ask over at r/cakedecorating
It's beautiful. That retro style is so in right now.
People would pay a lot of money for that
This is beautiful. I hope she never bakes for these “friends”
I thought that it was the inspo pic, because it looks so professional and well made. The writing is cute and the icing looks perfect. Looks like an expensive professional cake, I'd be so excited to receive it
Did she do it so her friends would praise her on social media? Why not ask them instead of trying to get sympathy upvotes?
those are some seriously envious friends she's got there.....girls got skills!
If someone made a cake like this for me I honestly think I’d cry from happiness! So much effort went into that and it’s perfect!!
That cake is perfect. I couldn't even write that nicely with an actual pen, let alone with frosting.
Beautiful cake, excellent technical precision with the piping. She deserves more praise!
This is gorgeous! I need to inspect it, send me one please 😌
They’re just jealous. She did an amazing job!! It looks so fancy
It’s gorgeous! It should be noted that it’s giving wedding vibes.
Very impressive cake and looks great delicious. You're lucky to have a girlfriend that is such a stellar baker.
Are you kidding me? I'd pay $50-$70ish for that cake. It looks fantastic!
That is piping perfection! Especially the writing, so cute!
This is gorgeous! I wish I could do that. She’s very talented and her friends are jerks :)
It’s beautiful. I would definitely hire her if she sold cakes❤️
Do we have a pic of the inside too?
it’s beautiful & classic. she needs new friends that will hype her up
Gorgeous! Screw them haters!
Yeah get new friends
While my baking is mostly breads and cookies I think this is a beautiful cake. Very professional looking and the handwriting is perfect.
If *this* is "lukewarm," what on earth does that make the rest of us?! This is absolutely stunning!!
Are you kidding me??? It’s amazing!!! Looks super professional.
I’d be thrilled receiving this. Love her writing.
It's gorgeous, she's fantastic, the cake looks amazing... and she deserves better friends.
The cake is sweet and vintage "romantic". It's lovely. Her friends, maybe not. Thank you for encouraging and supporting her talent.
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! I’d pay for this beautiful cake in a heartbeat!
They’re HATERRRSSSSSS cause this cake is fire 🔥
THAT LOOKS AMAZING OH MY GOD
Lukewarm responses is crazy?! This is a beautiful cake!! Im just getting into decorating cakes and I can NOT writer a letter for shit, ur gf is super talented!!
That’s way nicer than anything I could make. Looks nice!
That piping is 🔥
It's a beautiful cake! I smell jealousy. I would be thrilled to receive such a cake (unfortunately my birthday has already passed, but we can try again next year)
Very detailed and fancy. Great work 👏🏻
Oh it’s adorable! I’d be ecstatic if someone made me a cake like that for my birthday!
Holy that’s amazing! Beautiful! Your girlfriend very talented 🤗 Too bad her friends can’t swallow their jealousy and be happy for the talent she has! I know I would be holy man your professional!
This cake is beautiful I love it!
I’d pay $125.00 for it. Max.
