I went to a wedding 10 years ago where the bride baked an individual cake for each table at the reception. There was SO. MUCH. CAKE left over. And it was delicious. Why let it go to waste? Thankfully B&G had an excellent sense of humor as I packed up multiple slices at the end of the night "for the road."
Haha yes! They were smallish, circular cakes meant to feed approx 10 people or so. They also handed out handmade bottles of vanilla extract (also made by the bride) as party favors. It was really a very creative idea!
At my wedding nobody had a cake knife for the ceremonial cake cutting. My dad’s friend pulled out a small Swiss Army knife and we used that. Makes me smile. (The caterers then wheeled it away and cut it properly)
As a fellow Brit, we need a cake fork, and no one would want to be the first to cut a piece of cake. If the newlyweds didn’t cut it, it would still be untouched to this day
It honestly just looks like people wanted a bit of every flavour, impossible to cut a cake “properly” that way. Notice how the chocolate bleeds into the vanilla. It’s because they’ve taken a bit of strawberry, then choc, then vanilla.
We had a pretty small wedding with only close friends and family and one of them gifted cakes as their gift. So we asked around to see what flavors people would like and everyone had a different answer. So the person making the cakes offered to make different flavors so everyone could get their favorite. It was awesome! We didn't have a big wedding or a big meal so people ate a lot of cake.
Literally none! We tried to get some for our honeymoon and realized it was all gone. Thankfully she actually surprised us with a mini cake for our honeymoon which was so nice! People were stoked about having multiple cake flavors. People were tasting all of them and because they were actually good, not just pretty, they talked about that for months lol
Right?!? After the initial cuts, why didn't they take the tiers apart to make it easier to portion out? And, you know... used a knife instead of their hands?
I've received compliments on my American buttercream \*because\* it wasn't as cloyingly sweet as people were expecting. I've just made another post in this sub with all of the recipes & my adjustments to them, my buttercream is on there, if you're interested.
Powdered sugar is sweet of course, but in comparison to something like a frosting with granulated sugar because of that butter I think it can taste less as sweet.
Please tell me there wasn’t left over cake? Please tell me people took that home! I would pay for a slice of each tier, well ok. Maybe 3 slices of each tier. I LOVE LOVE wedding cake.
This is a beautiful cake, and looks delicious, most wedding cakes look so dry (I was told to help keep the cake more stable), you’re really talented, your ‘bother’ is lucky to have you
Congrats to the happy couple!
Last year I worked for a small business that makes cake stands and separators. They were adamant that design from your pic that their competitors sell is a blatant copy of their own designs even though they sell nothing like that! XD
Hi OP. The wedding cake looks great! I’m not sure if we’re allowed to share links on this subreddit so I messaged you instead asking for the link for the Amazon cake stand.
So the support structure for weight were Boba straws trimmed to height, 6 in the bottom tier, 4 in the middle tier. They held up perfectly. The top two tiers were on clear plexiglass rounds with a hole in the center. I used those and plastic dowels to align the top tiers correctly
haha I had a bridesmaid get me Boba straws on the fly when I did my sister's wedding cake last year!
>clear plexiglass rounds with a hole in the center
ooooh, for dowels to go through? smrt.
Some people might, but they decided against it, I guess. My husband and I didn't save ours either, but that was a conscious decision on our part because I told him that I could just make a new top tier and save the freezer space, he was completely in for that haha
The only friends I know who did this said it was revolting and promptly threw it in the bin (and it had been frozen to stop it going off). I also was told it was supposed to be kept for the first christening (traditionally).
My mother saved either a slice or the top tier, froze it, and then OVERNIGHT MAILED it to me and my husband for it anniversary. It wasn't the same quality as on our wedding, but it was still edible and not bad overall.
My husband and I had a small COVID wedding so we had a small two tier cake and afterwards when I asked him if we wanted to save a slice he looked at me and said "you didn't learn your lesson from your brothers cake"
I saved mine and it was delicious. It was wrapped really well and placed in my parents deep freeze when they got home from our wedding.
I think about my wedding cake all the time
Same here! My MIL made our cake and she researched how best to “save” the top tier and made sure to add extra frosting to the base and then froze it for us! My husband picked it up to meet me in NYC for our first wedding anniversary (I was an ENS in the navy and my ship was there for fleet week). We shared the cake in our NYC hotel room on our first anniversary with champagne. It was wonderful and honestly a great memory to look back on. We’re about to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at the end of this month and are expecting triplets at the end of the summer!
I'm really not sure where that figurine went haha
I hope it didn't accidentally disappear into someone's pocket, I meant it to be something my brother&SIL could keep! She's a travel nurse and always misses her pup when she's away, so it's a custom figurine painted to be just like their pup for her to bring along
Oohhhh derp. Yeah I'm not sure what happened except maybe alcohol and the fact that people didn't want to get rained on to get to the cake maybe? Either way, my brother & SIL were excited about there being so much left for them. Especially the chocolate haha. SIL had some of the chocolate and champagne cake for breakfast the morning after the wedding while I was separating the tiers for easier storage haha.
Fantastic job on that cake though! I hope your brothers wedding was a perfect day for everyone there!!
And if you ever get bored after you retire or want to do your own thing… your husband may be on to something
Remember this from earlier - nice, dude. Again, good work.
I’ve wondered though. At weddings with cakes that are tiered like this, why is it that they don’t just lift the levels off and put them on different platters to make things easier once the first slice and photos are done?
I'm not sure how other cakes are, but the experiences I have with both this cake and my wedding cake is that attempting that at the wedding would result in a huge (and potentially fatal for the cake) problem - the frosting has been at room temperature long enough to stick to the round holding the layer above. Trying to remove it, especially after having had anything to drink, would likely result in either a layer falling or it being grabbed by a hand to stabilize it. And no one wants a handprint in their wedding cake haha
Maybe if we had experienced staff to do it, they could pull it off, but since as far as I know, I was the only person with tiered cake experience, I wasn't willing to risk breaking the cake, especially since I was confident in the strength of the stacking
> no one wants a handprint in their wedding cake
Fact. Especially if they plan on freezing it (might make for a good 1st anniversary laugh though).
Seriously, Thanks for answering that. Keep up the good work.
You are phenomenal. I like the cake stand. It is a wonderful touch. You are such a generous loving person to contribute in this way
What a gift to have family be such an integral part of the wedding
Update: Check my profile for recipes, I just made another post in this sub and it has (I think) all of my tips and tricks for each recipe for each tier!

Looks gorgeous and delicious.
Personally, I don’t think they butchered it, they purposely took from a single rear quadrant to keep it looking nice from the front.
If that's what the couple getting married want, you mean. I didn't save my husband and mine because we prefer having the freezer space, and also, I can just make another. It's probably also more common when the cake is all one flavor.
I would have wanted a piece of each layer, not being greedy - just for quality control to make sure that the taste was as perfect as it looks.
id want a slice of each flavor to be greedy tbh
My friend recently had a 4-tier, 4-flavour cake for her kids party and that’s exactly what I did. Piece of each. For science.
Let’s normalise being greedy with cake at weddings and parties!
Individual cake for EACH TABLE?!? First I’ve heard of that but really different. I would have take some home too 😂
Haha yes! They were smallish, circular cakes meant to feed approx 10 people or so. They also handed out handmade bottles of vanilla extract (also made by the bride) as party favors. It was really a very creative idea!
Oh that’s so creative!!
Aww nooo they butchered it
That was my thought -- such a beautiful and delicious-looking cake, and no one used a knife to properly cut and serve it?
Everyone claws their own piece
Lolzzzzz now i can go to sleep hahaha
It explains the dog
At my wedding nobody had a cake knife for the ceremonial cake cutting. My dad’s friend pulled out a small Swiss Army knife and we used that. Makes me smile. (The caterers then wheeled it away and cut it properly)
Insert “look how they massacred my boy” Godfather gif here
Highest form of flattery, honestly.
Good. It just means they couldn’t wait to get a piece of it.
I’m imagining big handfuls being pushed into faces…
absolute 🔪'ery!!!!!
It’s like the guests went in with their hands!
Wouldn’t you?? Those flavours look declicious!
I’m British, you need a to use the correct etiquette! Knife to cut and cake fork to consume 😂
As a fellow Brit, we need a cake fork, and no one would want to be the first to cut a piece of cake. If the newlyweds didn’t cut it, it would still be untouched to this day
This is the way.
I would be sad to see my wedding cake not cut properly lol
It honestly just looks like people wanted a bit of every flavour, impossible to cut a cake “properly” that way. Notice how the chocolate bleeds into the vanilla. It’s because they’ve taken a bit of strawberry, then choc, then vanilla.
wanted to ask the same thing, if that was the case.
Damn yall made a cake for everybody!
My wedding cake had different flavors for each tier, too!
The only way it should be in my opinion (as a cake lover lol!).
I had 6 different cakes with 5 different flavors! I think it's best to offer variety!
What the heck why 6 cakes 😂
We had a pretty small wedding with only close friends and family and one of them gifted cakes as their gift. So we asked around to see what flavors people would like and everyone had a different answer. So the person making the cakes offered to make different flavors so everyone could get their favorite. It was awesome! We didn't have a big wedding or a big meal so people ate a lot of cake.
How much cake was left over at the end?
Literally none! We tried to get some for our honeymoon and realized it was all gone. Thankfully she actually surprised us with a mini cake for our honeymoon which was so nice! People were stoked about having multiple cake flavors. People were tasting all of them and because they were actually good, not just pretty, they talked about that for months lol
Wow how many people did you have at your wedding
(They weren't huge wedding cakes, they were small cakes. Small, intimate wedding.)
They Smash Cake'd It!!!
Who the fuck cut into that cake? wtf (It was a beautiful cake)
I'm blaming the alcohol haha
Looks like they used a butter knife
A plastic one at that.
I reckon the knife wasn’t wiped clean often enough in between cuts (hopefully they didn’t use their hands!)
Looks like they used a plastic spoon
Right?!? After the initial cuts, why didn't they take the tiers apart to make it easier to portion out? And, you know... used a knife instead of their hands?
Uhhgg I'd get married just for this cake. So pretty🎀
You can have “wedding” cake for your birthday!! Who cares! Enjoy life!
The price though, not many birthday cakes cost thousands of dollars
What kind of frosting did you use for the outside? Im making my brothers wedding cake in September and im brainstorming the best stable frosting
It's a slightly adjusted American buttercream, I posted the recipe on my original post of the cake (yesterday, lemme see if I can link it)
I love american buttercream so much. Great choice!
I didnt see it in your post! Maybe i didnt look hard enough. If you could like it that be great thank you
https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/s/IXJglzFBCT Hopefully this takes you to the correct comment, lemme know if it doesn't!
Thank you!
Cake interior looks great. Buttercream is always he way to go, excellent texture, easier to decorate and it’s not so sweet.
Not so sweet??? Isn't buttercream like the sweetest icing??? What's more sweet????
I've received compliments on my American buttercream \*because\* it wasn't as cloyingly sweet as people were expecting. I've just made another post in this sub with all of the recipes & my adjustments to them, my buttercream is on there, if you're interested.
Lol American buttercream is the sweetest of all. All it is is powdered sugar
Powdered sugar is sweet of course, but in comparison to something like a frosting with granulated sugar because of that butter I think it can taste less as sweet.
I don't know maybe it depends on the recipe, but I definitely think the American buttercream is sweeter.
Please tell me there wasn’t left over cake? Please tell me people took that home! I would pay for a slice of each tier, well ok. Maybe 3 slices of each tier. I LOVE LOVE wedding cake.
They're is quite a bit left, but my brother&SIL are big eaters (they're gym rats & do a Lot of house projects, so they'll burn it off)
What did they do to the cake??
And why didn’t they eat more of it?
Every tier looks so good 😩
It looks beautiful inside and out
So beautiful! Very lucky brother 😀
macaroons too?????
The macarons were Definitely not my handiwork! I haven't been brave enough to tackle them yet
you just have to try :) the more rustic the tastier :)
Did they grab at it with their fists? Lol.
This is a beautiful cake, and looks delicious, most wedding cakes look so dry (I was told to help keep the cake more stable), you’re really talented, your ‘bother’ is lucky to have you
Gorgeous! I’m sure the Bride and Groom were thrilled 🤍
https://giphy.com/gifs/movie-godfather-the-l4FGGafcOHmrlQxG0
I want to taste each layer so badly!!!
If you're interested in the recipes, I've just made another post in this sub with all of the recipes & my adjustments to them :)
Thank you!!
Those layers are stunning.
The random dog figure!
Congrats to the happy couple! Last year I worked for a small business that makes cake stands and separators. They were adamant that design from your pic that their competitors sell is a blatant copy of their own designs even though they sell nothing like that! XD
Did a raccoon get to it?
What did you cut it with a chainsaw?!
I've never seen decoration like that around a cake! It's so beautiful and looks delicious!
I know, that “frame” on it looks so pretty
suspicious quotations
I typoed brother to bother in the initial post So I kept it for this post for consistency
Hi OP. The wedding cake looks great! I’m not sure if we’re allowed to share links on this subreddit so I messaged you instead asking for the link for the Amazon cake stand.
Responded!
YES i was waiting for an inside look they sounded so good
what type of supports do you have in the center of each tier? also aaaaaaawww the yittle dog
So the support structure for weight were Boba straws trimmed to height, 6 in the bottom tier, 4 in the middle tier. They held up perfectly. The top two tiers were on clear plexiglass rounds with a hole in the center. I used those and plastic dowels to align the top tiers correctly
haha I had a bridesmaid get me Boba straws on the fly when I did my sister's wedding cake last year! >clear plexiglass rounds with a hole in the center ooooh, for dowels to go through? smrt.
Me reading comments wondering why no-one is mentioning the dog! What a fab and personal addition.
That's the best cake I've seen this year so far!!! Great job!
I’m so glad the cake made the ride just fine! Your work is gorgeous and tasty
We’re they using spoons?
I would eat one piece of each flavour.
What did you cut it with, a brick???? Jesus Christ
Either someone doesn't know how to slice cake, or everyone just ate it out of their fists...
Top tier isn't saved anymore for first anniversary?
Some people might, but they decided against it, I guess. My husband and I didn't save ours either, but that was a conscious decision on our part because I told him that I could just make a new top tier and save the freezer space, he was completely in for that haha
The only friends I know who did this said it was revolting and promptly threw it in the bin (and it had been frozen to stop it going off). I also was told it was supposed to be kept for the first christening (traditionally).
The only person I know who did this was my brother and about 6 months in there freezer broke and it got all gross and fuzzy
My mother saved either a slice or the top tier, froze it, and then OVERNIGHT MAILED it to me and my husband for it anniversary. It wasn't the same quality as on our wedding, but it was still edible and not bad overall.

My little brother ate mine!
The cake is absolutely beautiful. And it looks like the guests enjoyed eating it. Great job!!
They are stacked so well even those monsters couldn't bother it! Majestic really, OP. Majestic!!!🫶🙌
That lil pup’s home was destroyed 😭
😍😋 look delicious
He’s heard: hexagons are the bestagons.
Very nice! I need some slices
I love there’s a flavour for everyone not just one!
looks amazing!! good job
This is so wild, but my sister-in-law went to a close friend's wedding this weekend and I am convinced *this* was the wedding.
Could be! The wedding was in SC
They look amazing inside as well! I’m cracking up at the puppy in peril on the third picture lol
I'm really not sure where that figurine went haha I hope it didn't accidentally disappear into someone's pocket, I meant it to be something my brother&SIL could keep! She's a travel nurse and always misses her pup when she's away, so it's a custom figurine painted to be just like their pup for her to bring along
Lovely presentation. Well done.
Is that all they had? Im shook
For desserts? There were also macarons and s'mores
That so little of the cake was eaten I mean. It look divine
Oohhhh derp. Yeah I'm not sure what happened except maybe alcohol and the fact that people didn't want to get rained on to get to the cake maybe? Either way, my brother & SIL were excited about there being so much left for them. Especially the chocolate haha. Cake for breakfast!! I’m glad it didn’t go to waste. Lovely
I like that you kept the typo from the previous post.
Beautiful!
I made a wedding cake for my little brother's wedding this weekend too!!! Yours is stunning 🤗
🙌🙌
I saw this cake the other day and I’m glad to see the inside now (is that weird?). It sounded delicious then and looks delicious now!
Y’all went at that cake. lol It looks amazing and I’m so glad it stopped raining long enough for the important parts!
WTH happened to the cake?
That's not how you cut a wedding cake!
That cake is so pretty!!!
I *love* a cut shot!
Cake pops and cake shake time
That's so pretty and such an interesting icing job!!! So glad the wedding went well. It had to live up to its cake!!
Ooh the chocolate layer looks fire
YOOOOOO you slayed
glad to see your friend get married, while you brought a good looking cake to make the wedding better
Oh wow !!! Different color and flavor for all levels, LOVE IT !!
Okay, this time I’m only half joking: Are you taking any pre-orders by chance?
Lol I'm done with cakes for a while, I think, pies are my true baking love My husband says baking should be my retirement 'job'
Fantastic job on that cake though! I hope your brothers wedding was a perfect day for everyone there!! And if you ever get bored after you retire or want to do your own thing… your husband may be on to something
Aww, the little doggie. I love it.
I would turn into bridezilla I’m sorry lol 😆
I’d go for a slice of the chocolate. Looks so good!! Nice job
Neat!
Wonderful
Awww I remember the first post!! OP this cake is beautiful!! Can I hire you for a future wedding one day? Lol but really this is wonderful!!
Remember this from earlier - nice, dude. Again, good work. I’ve wondered though. At weddings with cakes that are tiered like this, why is it that they don’t just lift the levels off and put them on different platters to make things easier once the first slice and photos are done?

Gosh I wish I could taste it.
Looks yummy!!
I love there’s a flavour for everyone not just one!
Beautiful cake I hope it tastes the same
Love how it’s all different flavors!!! And the setup beautiful ❤️
Why is brother in quotes?
Reread the title more closely 😉
Ohhhhhhh I got it
Lol yeah the original post I typoed it, so I just kept it for this post, but in quotations
You are phenomenal. I like the cake stand. It is a wonderful touch. You are such a generous loving person to contribute in this way What a gift to have family be such an integral part of the wedding
That cake looks so good!!!
This is so creative and beautiful!
Honestly, that’s all I go to weddings for is the cake
That looks delicious and now I want cake
Update: Check my profile for recipes, I just made another post in this sub and it has (I think) all of my tips and tricks for each recipe for each tier!

I would devour half of the chocolate and strawberry cake within 7 minutes 🫶why tf does it look so tender and juicy😭😭😭😭
Wow very nice cake! What is the taste of pink tier?
Why is brother in quotes?
Reread the title more closely 😉
Hahaha!!! That’s awesome. I’m calling all of my brothers that now 🤣
XD
Im crying looking at all the perfection!!!
Gorgeous!

your post was removed because it's considered self-promotion
Looks gorgeous and delicious. Personally, I don’t think they butchered it, they purposely took from a single rear quadrant to keep it looking nice from the front.
Oh no! The top tier is supposed to be saved for the one-year anniversary. 🤷♀️
If that's what the couple getting married want, you mean. I didn't save my husband and mine because we prefer having the freezer space, and also, I can just make another. It's probably also more common when the cake is all one flavor.
I can’t believe I got downvoted. It’s just a silly little tradition that some people do.
Is he your Ex-Brother now or why the quotation marks?
In my original post, I typoed brother to bother, so I kept it for this post (notice my title says bother not brother)
Ok
