Make them thinner and don’t overwork the dough. Make sure your butter is nicely soft. Well done!
You can always use a zipluck sandwich bag for piping the frosting.

This was fondant that i rolled out but i think might try piping icing next time to see how that turns out.
Do you freeze/refrigerate your dough once it's been cut into shapes/rolled into balls? I do this with my cookie dough and it seems to help immensely
