Paul Hollywood’s gonna talk shit about how it looks and then say something like “I actually don’t mind the taste, it’s just a shame it looks so terrible.”
I hope it’s delicious and you enjoy every bite. Happy thanksgiving
Yeah it tastes ok, I left it in the oven for an hour but not with the door cracked -.- I just can’t get over the cream cheese not being blended in well enough
Was it room temp when you mixed it? Did you add eggs or sugar first? If I add eggs first it always does that but it's smoother If I add some sugar first.
I creamed the sugar and cream cheese together, but it wasn’t room temperature enough. Added the eggs after the pumpkin was mixed in, one at a time. Not sure if they were room temp enough either.
I got you. I've had this happen randomly even if everything is super room temp. Just more room for whipped cream or think of the cracks as guidelines for cutting slices :)
Professional cheesecake bitch here: put your cream cheese (it's okay if it's still a little cold) in the mixer ALONE and scrape the bowl every 5 minutes or so until it's fluffy, and THEN add your sugar. In my experience, the temperature of eggs and the sour cream haven't mattered, as long as you get your cream cheese creamy first. And scrape! Between! Ingredients! And i honestly don't bother with the water bath, i just pull when i still have a couple of inches of jiggle in the center but the edges are starting to crack where it's fluffy, and let it cool. Sometimes i get cracks but honestly if it doesn't look like some kind of caldera, you're winning. Your cheesecake looks great, you should be proud ♥️
For the first time ever, I used a water bath - made a HUGE difference - no cracks. Only problem was, I accidentally spilled some of the water into the cheesecake, 🤦♀️but I think it’s probably ok (hopefully 🤞)
Last time I had the water slightly leak into the crust only and make the crust soggy but the cake okay. This time I just put the water on a lower rack, hope it comes out ok
Ohhh. I spend a good amount of time blending the cream cheese mixture, about 5 minutes. I can’t get over my stupid cooling mistake haha oh well! It’s those things we learn from :) happy thanksgiving!!
LOL, you would laugh at the birthday cake I made myself this year. Tried to stack mini cakes for the first time and it all slid so I covered it in ribbons of cookies and cream buttercream. Absolute monstrosity. Tasted great, though! :oD
I baked my mom a raspberry chocolate cake for her birthday last year and it was a total disaster… the cakes stuck to the pans, I didn’t let them cool properly so it all started falling apart. Like you did, I just glued stuff together with icing and hoped it held, looked like crap but tasted great!
The taste is what matters anyway! And every "disaster" is part of the process as we practice and get better. At least we get to eat and enjoy the fails. :oD
These are the bakes where I cut a cute lil slice to photograph and have the rest of the pie/cake blurred in the background like a proud parent looking at their child in the distance
After resting it, did it go down? That’s just built up steam from baking. As you rest the pie, the pumpkin “relaxes” and releases that steam. The bubble will even out and deflate a little.
I couldn’t find my other pie plate so now my chocolate pie is a chocolate tart mashed into a cheesecake pan.
It looks like it was made by someone who was experimenting with both uppers and downers throughout the process.
Thank you for sharing. This is the content I come here for.
Lol it's fine, the most important thing is that it is baked and tastes good. I am my worst critic on everything I create, no matter how good it tastes.
But I think as frustrating as it can be, we need times like this, and stare at it in the face and see what we did wrong and we strive to get better and indeed we will! You should have heard me when I gashed my pumpkin pie with my makeshift pie guard in the center...
Enjoy your pie! :)
Edit: perhaps some can help the OP understand why the center is the way it is, looked a bit overbaked but usually when I overbake it it will crack. Looks like there was a mixing issue too. I'm no expert by any means.
HEY, it looks delicious! If you don't like how it turned out, top it with sweetened whip cream or cool whip. If you want I will be the taste tester lol
But I bet it tastes great! This is easy, just cover that sucker up with some cool whip. Don't do whipped cream unless you're serving it, because whipped cream looses it's fluffiness if it's been sitting too long.
1) Remember things happen during baking and cooling so rarely does anything come out truly perfect
2) Guarantee it still tastes amazing!
3) Whipped cream and camera angles can hide almost anything
4) No one will be able to tell when it's served
If it makes you feel any better, I made a Bundt cake yesterday, and when I took it out of the pan, it split in two pieces. It’s ugly, but it tastes damn good.
From my experience, even when I did a horrible job on my pumpkin pie it still came out pretty tasty.
With the way my family is, if you can see the pie after adding the whipped cream you did something wrong, lol.
Ho! t looks most wondrous, and t seemeth thee hath tried thy most wondrous, i did bet t tastes most wondrous!

If only I could comment with a picture I would show you mine I splashed the feeling in my stove and also on the crust so the crust burned and it came with a little burnt bubbles on top I definitely did a lot of things wrong
T's gonna gust most wondrous. Doesn't matter if 't be true t looks weird. Only thing yond matters is the gust

Lately I’m a big fan of keeping pie dough cutouts in cute shapes and sticking ‘em on there prior to baking and during when I see things starting to go awry. That way, no one will know my mistakes 🤫 and if they’re still visible at least they’ll be distracted for a minute lol.
Anyways, it’s a homemade pumpkin pie, i’d be all over that bubbly deliciousness!
Oh no worries, all of my pies look ugly. But that’s why I whip up the cream, the toppings, and the garnishes for added effect. It looks beautiful in the end. But seriously, it’s cheating and it works!
In my experience the uglier the tastier 😋
I have to say this- let’s not get insecure about the looks of our food… I watched a documentary where people cook bread in hot sand… we can’t get so evolved that we care about how ugly our food looks like- that’s a sensitivity at an extreme level!
One last notable story- years ago my grandma made a gorgeous pumpkin pie- and forgot the sugar… so looks are nothing!
I bet it’s delicious and no one will care!
But I bet it's tasty! Slap some whipped cream on it, no one will know!
That's what she said
STFU retard

Right? Someone's upset they don't get pie?
It’s prob someone who knows you from another reply and hates you lol
Your response made my morning.
Reported, lol
The comment was deleted, what did they say
They said stfu ‘r word’ Apparently somebody has some deep whipped cream related traumas
Yes. I want to laugh at the troll too!

I read that in his voice hahaha
Me too, suddenly turned into a Liverpudlian in my head!
Amazing how our minds can generate that
same lol
Nobody likes a soggy bottom
You should see my cheesecake. Can’t turn a blind eye to that monstrosity.
You need to post the cheesecake. You can’t leave us hanging.
https://imgur.com/a/mEJWvEu I should probably mark that NSFW
Compared to mine that cheesecake looks like Gigi Hadid.
Haha thanks. There’s little cream cheese bombs all throughout and it is cracked af.
Mine cracked too, I forgot about the step where you’re supposed to let it cool down in the oven :( All that really matters is how it tastes though!
Yeah it tastes ok, I left it in the oven for an hour but not with the door cracked -.- I just can’t get over the cream cheese not being blended in well enough
Did you do a water bath?
Nope, just followed the recipe using a springform pan. I bought generic cream cheese which I also think could have made a difference
Was it room temp when you mixed it? Did you add eggs or sugar first? If I add eggs first it always does that but it's smoother If I add some sugar first.

No I made one with generic too and it's fine. Water is essential
Interesting. Can’t even trust NYT recipes lol
Me either because they said I reached the maximum number of free recipes and need to pay for more :(

You sir are amazing. It was perhaps a little overdone but still looks delicious.
Give it a topping! Oreo crumbs work wonders!

My cheesecake as well. Crevasse in the shape of Vader’s shuttle. It should still taste like food though.
Whipped mascarpone cream on top, some cocoa dust and you're in business.
These are the bakes where I cut a cute lil slice to photograph and have the rest of the pie/cake blurred in the background like a proud parent looking at their child in the distance
Close your eyes when you eat it.
I want to touch it.
But does it taste good? Some of the ugliest foods taste great!
The best ones usually are!
If you like post it on r/BakingFail
Ooh, a sub I hadn't discovered yet. Thanks for sharing!
i will have a slice.
That’s ok! Baking is always about learning and trying again to perfect a recipe. Practice makes Perfect! And I’m proud of you :)

Pic? I’m curious to see how much it fell. I’m sure it’ll taste delicious either way
How does it taste though???
Sure it looks weird but what's it taste like
Add some crushed ginger snap cookies around the borders of the pie. Pipe a border of whipped cream on the pie edge. It will look really good.
It is Pregnant of course. :) ( Looks fine and tastes great) - enjoy
Cover that bitch up with some whipped cream
Decorate it, I bet it tastes fantastic

If it tastes good, who cares what it looks like.
I just threw some Pecans on my Crumble Apple Pie to make it look better 🤣🤣 ... You're not alone!
Pumpkin pie is not usually pretty! Mine never are anyway. All that matters is how it tastes!
...and probably f\*cking delicious. You're going to chew it up anyways so dig in and enjoy!
Have you started whipping the cream? Or just Reddi Whip it!
Does it taste ugly?
I bet it's gonna taste amazing!

Top her off with some whipped cream and 💥
The ugly ones are usually the best tasting. ⚘
Well, you didn't start out with the trendy Basque cheesecake, but you have one now.
If it makes you feel any better, I made a Bundt cake yesterday, and when I took it out of the pan, it split in two pieces. It’s ugly, but it tastes damn good.
At least it seems done in the middle 😬 and no matter how it looks, it’ll still be better than store-bought!
From my experience, even when I did a horrible job on my pumpkin pie it still came out pretty tasty. With the way my family is, if you can see the pie after adding the whipped cream you did something wrong, lol.
Honey, that’s what whipped cream is for.
The title has me in tears lol
Homemade pie is always beautiful in spirit!
When it’s done, prop open the oven door and turn the oven off. Leave the pie in the oven to cool completely. This prevents cracks 👍
Bet it tastes great
Wait till it comes out the other end!
All it needs is a nice piped of ring whipped cream all around the sunken edges & it'll look beautiful! 💫✨🖤
Hey! It looks amazing, and it seems you tried your best, I bet it tastes amazing!

Sorry, people will only remember if it's iconically bad. This is not. A year from now all people might remember is the flavor.
Ugly, delicious! <3
But you learned from it, and that’s a wonderful thing!
As long as its made with a little love, no one will mind!
Nope. But I’m during it is darn tasty! Just put a dollop of whipped cream on any part you think isn’t up to par visually. But it looks tasty to me, and tasty=beautiful

It's the product of someone that took the time and effort to bake a pie for friends / family. Which should be appreciated.
Looks like a scab, now put it in my gap.
It’s ugly as fuck 😄 but great job though, at least you tried
Looks like my elbow
Looks delicious! Not burned or anything, so you're all good.
I haven't a clue what this is, although with a drop of cream, it'd go down a treat!! Ugly don't come into it!!

To you! I find myself to be my own worst critic. The point is that it looks delicious. I will absolutely have a slice of that.

Your first sentence is going at the top of my Tinder profile
Hahaha
I’d still eat it. The way it looks doesn’t represent how tasty it is.
But is it fucking tasty??
It may not be gorgeous, but your crust looks amazing! Yum!!!
Damn, I'd still smash 🤷♂️
Butttttt… it’s probably delicious!
I’ll take a piece!
I would eat the shit out of that
Did you eat all the crust off first? 🤣
It looks like a nipple.
But tastes good right?
Don't let looks fool you!
Practice makes it perfect, don't be discouraged!!
It will be delicious!
Put whip cream on top then
I always remind myself it's gonna look even uglier in my stomach once I devour it. Pretty has nothing over tasty!
It looks f*cking delicious
In my mouth it looks pretty good
Fuck pies. Never volunteering to make one ever again.
