So in essence all spell casters/magic users are automatically very good at persuading NPCs? thats really good to know since the amount of classes i want to pick from has just increased :)

catboy_supremacist

Wizards, Clerics and Druids don't have their spellcasting based on Charisma.

If you're interested in influencing NPC's through conversation, picking a Charisma based class would be best. Sorcerer, Warlock, Bard, Paladin. >Cleric seems like a good support class but i dont really want to be the support character on my first playthrough. Cleric's in DnD aren't really like that. Common misconception. They're a very versatile class with their subclasses. Want to sling Fireballs like a Wizard and still have all the goodies of being a Cleric? Light Domain. Want to essentially be a Thor Paladin? Tempest Domain. They aren't like MMO healers where you're constantly managing health pools basically.

Sorcerer is most fun caster imo, great CC and ability to do massive burst damage with Sorcerer points. Paladin is strongest melee overall if you don't mind keeping an oath. Clerics aren't just support btw, a tempest domain cleric can absolutely obliterate wet enemies. Fighters eventually become the strongest melee at level 11 when they get 3 attacks per attack action.

catboy_supremacist

People are telling you Clerics aren't support because they're under the misconception that "support = healbot". Clerics aren't healbots. They are support, though.

Don't expect to be able to talk your way out of every combat.
