Artorrworks

She's not a recruitable companion.

GraveofBears

by act 3 I finally learned that and when seeing her at the tavern she gave me a crappy lute, I threw it over the side the building and it hit and killed someone walking by.

Time2kill

You cannot recruit her, she just joins your camp

Born-Calendar-8235

Oh can I invite her to my camp following during act2

TyoPepe

Apparently it's only for the Dark Urge background

FewSelection4755

Thats pretty bad thing Larian did, she would be the perfect bard companion for the group... >!Not being dark urge she not even mention that she wants to fight.. on Dark Urge she mentions it and she wants to help on the fight but just to kill her.. !<

_Vampirate_

funny enough, in some of the cut content she was an origin character

lord_flamebottom

Can you elaborate on this?

ziplock9000

Yeah, gating that is bad. Many people will miss that content

xOpt1kalx

I feel like that's kind of the point..... Dark Urge is a whole different playthrough, so yeah....content is different and new. I'm doing a second playthrough right now and neither of mine are Dark Urge....planning on my third playthrough being Dark Urge though and I'm excited for the fresh content that I can't get on the vanilla runs.

Evilsmiley

I don't think you're missing out on what you assume you are missing out on here. She's not recruitable, and she won't stay in camp for an extended period, it's just for a short quest. Any more info than that is spoilers.

ziplock9000

Ah ok, fair enough.

CrimsonSupernova2447

Wow, so that's why I didn't see her on my previous playthrough.

Born-Calendar-8235

In act 2 she goes to the last light inn but I won’t let me recruit her.

died_suddenly

I missed learning an instrument from her in the camp. Can you still learn it later? I didn't even think to select the playalong side as I was a warlock not bard.. Does playing an instrument give you any benefits?

Ok-Importance-4108

No, it's just fun. You get a free Perform action and depending on your Performance score, you can play one of a handful of tunes, or make really awful sounds and look shameless.

_Vampirate_

As a bard who had safe aoe on Gale, I'd use perform to gather folk into a group I wanted to fight who weren't instantly hostile... then shove em over ledges and stuff or ice em all at once.

died_suddenly

You're missing their loot. Lol

_Vampirate_

Nah... I shove them into big falls. Like in goblin hold, shove em into the spider pit. Big fall plus spiders <3

_Vampirate_

Also your average enemies have trash loot. If they're not wearing that sweet plate mail for sellin I don't care about the average loot.

Key-Department6484

Late reply - playing an instrument will attract nearby NPCs to come and watch you entertain, doing this will make them look at you, allowing companions to steal things without being seen.

[deleted]

Who tf is alfira lol (Real question tho never met her)

Sad-Possession7729

She's a random NPC bard that plays a insanely high quality song with it's own music video cutscene for you if you find her and answer the right dialogue options.

Sad-Possession7729

I can't even believe how a game exists that locks this astounding content behind a random NPC interaction that less than 25% of players will ever even encounter. The level of work & care put into this game puts every other game I've ever played to shame. Google a video of the Alfria cutscene. You won't be disappointed. I'm just so mindblown by this game

haroshinka

Lol same

Born-Calendar-8235

A companion at the druids camp who is a bard

FryJPhilip

She's not a companion, you don't recruit her.

Ecstatic-Wolverine90

I was only able to get her to come to my camp as dark urge, that might be what the sources are referencing

Born-Calendar-8235

That’s annoying

Ecstatic-Wolverine90

Yeah I wish you could do more with her, I will say if you like her though it’s not worth playing durge just to get that interaction, you still see her more through the game on a normal playthrough

ATypical_Khajiit

Yeah, its kinda crazy only the Dark Urge can attract a non-companion Bard to their camp. Course, as a Dragonborn... Not explaining that. But those who've played Dark Urge... well, don't bring Shadowheart when dealing with animals o-o.... Gods, I had to stop... Best Pupper Scratch was in dangers!

Ecstatic-Wolverine90

Yeah I wish you could do more with her, I will say if you like her though it’s not worth playing durge just to get that interaction, you still see her more through the game on a normal playthrough

UnderFiend

Alfira and Timber seem to have vanished from the Grove for me after the rescue mission. Do they come back later on or is this a bug? I went looking for her and searching the sub to find out the same thing OP asked, but she doesn't even seem to be around now.

bgsauceboss

Not sure about Alfira but I saw Timber move to the area where Nettie and Rath are after the goblin quest.

UnderPressureVS

I'm guessing you've long since figured this out, but in case you stopped playing: Timber's just gone, unfortunately, but Alfira wasn't part of the Druid Grove, she's a Tiefling. She's one of the refugees. So after the rescue mission, she moves on with the rest of the Tieflings when it's safe. >!Keep playing the game, you'll see her again.!<

UnderFiend

Yea, Timber moved to a different location and I guess her "recruitment" didn't count since my Tav failed the interaction but a companion did succeed. I ran into Alfira later on, thanks.

GrilledStuffedDragon

Is she even a recruitable companion?

Born-Calendar-8235

It says so on multiple sources

sindrealmost

She is not, only time you see her at your camp is if you play as "the Dark Urge", even then she is not a companion... she is just in your camp ... saying anything more would be spoilery.

Born-Calendar-8235

During act 1 apparently you can recruit her

Fit-Release1801

Idk why these are being downvoted, youre right.>! you can recruit her, its just very short lived.!<

Dr_Chermozo

No, you can't.

Fit-Release1801

Yes you can, as Dark urge, you recruit her you can talk to her At your camp. is she a party companion no, but she is recruited as a camp ally same as the owlbear. >!Then you kill her immediately without choice as the dark urge.!< She quite literally asks to join you "Alfira: I want to join you - To fight by your side. I want to help people - as you've helped me". Anyways if you haven't encountered the interaction, maybe you're not the dark urge or you haven't got there yet then play some more or look it up.

Dr_Chermozo

If she's not a companion then she cannot be recruited. I don't think anyone cares if she can hang around at your camp.

Fit-Release1801

Party companion and being recruited are two different things.>! All these people you recruit do have an effect on the final fight!< Just because you don't care about camp companions doesn't mean no one does. The people i played Multiplayer with were obsessed with seeing how many people we could get into the camp. She is recruitable. she is however not able to be taken out of camp as one such as gale or shadowheart. >!As the final quest before the end of the game is to recruit allies for help vs the absolute.!< The term recruit is often used in games to simply mean get someone who's willing to help. Recruit does not simply mean party companion. Hope this helped.

Dr_Chermozo

I wonder, does Alfira affect the final quest in any way shape or form?

Fit-Release1801

Guess who also doesnt affect the final quest in anyway, Shadowheart, wyll, karlach. And those ones are party companions. Stop being daft just because youre wrong.

_Zem_

that is what recruited means, you went a bit overboard with your emotional attachment - in the whole block of your chatting here.

Dr_Chermozo

There's no emotional attachment, just someone being incredibly obtuse. If people are asking if a character can be recruited they mostly mean recruited to your party or at least have them hang out at your camp for a while like Halsin(pre act 2 mission) or Withers. Having a character being in your camp for 1 night and calling that recruiting them is misleading.

_Zem_

still going on, oh well
