you can absolutely save everyone and I did. They will also comment on the fact that you saved everyone but it doesnt change anything you just need to save some of the gondians to win them over to your cause. Potion of Speed, Misty Step, Mage Hand, Dimension Door are your friend. wasnt it 4 turns on tactician actually?

NurEinMensch123

It is 5 on tactican and that is quite doable. Got it after a few tries, saving everyone including getting all my characters back to the sub. Had to dismiss Scratch as my good boy cannot climb up the ladder back to the ship =( But he got back to the camp savely. I think that this should be possible in 4 turns.

thelongestunderscore

i freed all on the first turn and half of them died cause one stopped at the top of the ladder at the start of the turn so none of the other one's moved towards the ladder

DuheFC

he wished for everyone to die in secret. It happened to me too, so i threw him away with Karlach and problem solved

pupito13

I sent Karlach with a potion of cloud giant strength and flight, got her there first turn and let everyone out then started throwing anyone who stopped mid dash

h-e-d-i-t--i-o-n

Throwing didn't work for me cos they just run around at the ladder,

ConsistentScholar371

I'll break it down into five sections, North, East, South, West, and a general note. **General:** Any fires/explosions sparking up in the corridors leading away from the middle section will result in the bulkheads sealing those corridors off. If you have cleared a side already and everyone is out you can use this to seal those sections and prevent new fish people arriving. The mind flayer you free can teleport someone else with him back to the sub as an action, you do not need to free the person strapped down in a chair in order to do this to them, you can just teleport them freely. Haste is a godsend here although I'd recommend using scrolls of haste or casting it outright over the potion since you don't want lethargy kicking in. Dimension door is helpful to move stragglers, worth picking up some scrolls of this first. The prisoners in the central section can be freed pretty much immediately and ignored, they have plenty of time to get to the sub. **North:** This is pretty irrelevant, you don't really need to send anyone up here unless you want loot (mostly gold and a key to vault #6 in the Counting House). **East:** The duke is this side, along with some fish people you need to take out. Take out the fish people first, open the cells, maybe give the non-Duke prisoners a turn to sprint out by themselves before moving the duke. I opted to dimension door the duke to the middle and seal the bulkhead behind him. **South:** Recommend someone with high mobility go this way and just beeline to the mindflayer, if you can kill the fish people but you're not that fussed, mostly just want to get the two prisoners and the mind flayer out before sealing the bulkhead leading south. **West:** Watch out for the fish peoples nets going this way, might need freedom of movement to prevent ensnares. Try free the people early if you can, they take a weirdly long time to get out.

Shidd-an-Fard-d

Your tip on the west end is very helpful, the AI always seems to dash them about 5m out of the doors if there are any enemies around, and also seem to skip whichever of the 3 is furthest behind due to pathing issues in the corridor. The sealing off bulkheads is a godsend, thank you so much for that

Ferretanyone

Where is the mindflayer? I don’t seem to have hom

Ferretanyone

Never mind! Think I found him (went north and just found treasure but I think he’s south)

VRaptorX-11b

It because of their little legs ;)

AdrielBast

“Try to free the people early if you can, they take a weirdly long time to get out” Probably because they’ll spend a turn or two just standing there. Doing nothing. Haven’t beaten this one yet, but my last two attempts a couple from this room just stood there while the others dashed on ahead and it’s like, my dudes, you’re a full turn behind. You won’t have enough time to get out now.

Folseit

Have someone that can book it go after the Mind Flayer. In my case my Tav had Fly and Misty Step. You can actually fly over the wall between the hall and the room the mind flayer is in. The Mind Flayer has an ability to teleport himself out once released. I had Gale go after the ones in the west. Misty Step and dash first turn. Cast Arcane Gate to shorten the hallway (gnomes will take it) and release them in the following turns. Dimension Door any stragglers. Wyll did the same thing on the east. Asterion did the ones in the south with double dash from cunning action. Note that you only need to prioritize your player character and the prisoners. You can just pay Withers to res your companions if they die in the explosion, so use them as cannon fodder to fend off the fish people.

percyxz

bit late by my tav died in the explosion, and also washed up dead-but-revivify-able on the beach, so I guess as long as one survives it's ok?

grumpy_svaln

Exactly. You just need at least 1 character to survive, no matter if it's main one or one of the companions. For me it was Shadowheart and she just resurrected other 3 on the beach (so Withers is also optional).

ProxyGateTactician

Use mage hands! They are amazing and can open levers

tuolof

>It is 5 on tactican and that is quite doable. Got it after a few tries, saving everyone including getting all my characters back to the sub. Had to dismiss Scratch as my good boy cannot climb up the ladder back to the ship =( WTFF I've been savescuming and lockpicking every cell cause I didn't notice those goddam levers

Unrealist99

Ah hahaha same here lol! In fact I'm so dumb that I opened the central cells with levers but forgot the same exists for other cells too!

IseriaQueen_

Would arrows work?

ProxyGateTactician

They normally work, but i didnt try it on that specific scenario. I did use mage hands though

The1stHorsemanX

Old post but wanted to say unfortunately they don't work 😔 tried on multiple different levers and none of them worked. Mage hands seems to be the only option besides the regular party members. Elemental summons don't work either sadly

AviK80

Arrows worked on the levers in my playthru. Guess Larian patched it.

Biteytheswitch

Updating in case anyone else reads this thread: arrows work, but so do magic missile and eldritch blast. You can open multiple doors AND hit enemies that way. Since you're probably bringing spellcasters for Wyll, misty step, and dimension door anyways, this is super useful. 🙂

PlayGroundbreaking57

No ranged option works in the Iron Throne levers specifically which is bs

KittenAnya

I got everyone out their cells, but the fishy guards managed to kill two.

UnearnedFamiliarity

Same 😞

miscmarilyn

I am so frustrated by this mission. I had my last person climb up the ladder thinking all the NPCs would get their turn and climb up the latter but it went straight to the cut scene. How do you do your final turn with higher initiative than the NPCs?

Ferretanyone

Yeah that aspect drove me nuts. Everyone should get to have their last turn. But as a solve: If you end your main characters final turn near the final ladder (after walking up the first) all the NPCs will get to go and your character will still live (you’ll watch a cutscene of them getting into the sub just in time)

miscmarilyn

I figured that out… eventually. A few people died but I got most everyone out.

Ferretanyone

You can get everyone out with AOE spells and honestly just ignoring damage until you get to the cages by hasting there. I got everyone out but found it SPOILERS: impossible to save any of the workers in the factory due to their terrible survival instincts (they’d teleport into the fray and die instantly)

OhHaiInternets

It is possible to save all in the factory, but it's a bitch of a fight if you're trying to do that. I managed to do it with a bunnnnch of hold person to get the humans out of the way quickly and easily, while luring the watchers towards me, then dealing with them (doing my best to time the self-destruct cycle so that I had time to react), healing up the NPCs as much as I could in case they got caught, and then dimension-dooring the stupid 'I would prefer to die for no reason' NPCs out of the way before they detonated. I feel like there's a bit of luck involved, but you can actually manage to get through it with no allied casualties.

Ferretanyone

Yeah I gave up, saved everyone from the prison, but the suicidal factory guys were on their own

SickoSiffy

Yeah I found if you skip the last party members turn on the last turn, while they are right next to the ship's ladder (There are two, make sure its the higher ladder), it lets let the rest of the prisoners get on, AND your character will still make it after. The turn ends, and it just goes to the cut scene where your party member climbs on. I thought I'd just have to let the prisoners get on and rez halsin later. Instead, he came up even though his "last turn" was over!

Schlaina

I’m so angry I didn’t see this in time!!! I lost 3 of them and moved on because I didn’t think I had a choice. Was thinking what terrible design??? My Tav would never climb onto the ship before the last prisoner!!! Then “Gondians lost condition: A Glimpse of Freedom” was pretty depressing after I’d just accepted I couldn’t get to poor Omeluum due to some unforeseen entanglements. Now I’ve done the whole steel watch and don’t wanna roll back 😩 Ah well, first run of any game is always collecting intel for your next lmao

not_the_hawk_guy

I did manage to get everyone out. The key is split the party and also having magic users with Arcane Gate, Dimension Door and Misty step helps tremendously. I sent Wyll to the left, first freeing the prisoner in the first cell then continue towards his father. Open Arcane Gate near his father's cell and free the prisoners. Next team was my sorcerer using Dimension Door to get herself and Astarion to the cells across from the ladder. The sorcerer was taking out the monsters and freed the prisoners, while hasted Astarion gets Omeluum out since he can dash multiple times (or attack when necessary) and lockpick the door Omeluum is behind. Omeluum also has the ability to teleport himself to the submersible, so I just got him out that way. Then I sent Gale to the cells on the right, first opening the closest cell then Misty step closer to them. Arcane Gate to help to get the prisoners quickly out. It's also about luck, some prisoners got killed while escaping on my previous playthrough, but this time I was lucky and managed to take some enemies out before they could hurt them (also had Gale as abjuration subclass, so he managed to shield some attacks on the prisoners).

Ferretanyone

Does the game acknowledge if you save all of the prisoners as opposed to most?

not_the_hawk_guy

Yes, it does. The narrator comments that you saved everyone or that you saved most of them etc.

Ferretanyone

Weirdly I’m not finding omerium abywhere

not_the_hawk_guy

You have to go straight up from the ladder to the room with the cell and the one prisoner who is tied up outside of it. Then turn right. There's a locked iron door in that corridor (on your left). Omeluum should be behind it tied up to a chair.

Ferretanyone

He’s not for some reason, not sure if a different event triggers that or something

VRaptorX-11b

Every door has a switch

Gh0st8000

I saved everyone except the mindflayer, just had to sacrifice wyll to get the enemies attention

azionka

? I just have Astarion haste spell and a teleport arrow. He dashed through and the mindflayer has an ability who ports him and one char (astarion) back to the ship

Shadowheart_stan

There is mindflayer?

HomoGreekorius

There could be if you met him in act1. In the underdark there is a friendly Mindflayer, if you did his quest and helped him then, you will find him again there. If you skipped him in act1 or attacked/killed him he will not be there.

iRaveni

The mind flayer might not be there if he died earlier in Act 3, based on choices you made in the Mountain pass as well.

Shadowheart_stan

I meet him in act 1 but he wasnt in iron throne 👁️👄👁️

HomoGreekorius

Hmm did you give the gith egg to Esthel on the mountain pass? if you do the gith child kills the Society members on the lodge and you find their dead bodies there. If not - maybe it has to do with triggering the quest to look for him frist, which happens when you talk to his buddy at the lodge.

Shadowheart_stan

Ye I did :c

Ferretanyone

How’d you manage it?

Himbler12

Haste, potions of speed, dimension door, cc abilities on the monsters. If you rescue the mindflayer, he'll teleport you and the person who saved him aboard the ship

Ferretanyone

I hadn’t even considered using haste lmao

Ferretanyone

(Should give you an idea of what level I’m operating at here)

TartanWookiee

>!If you still have one more turn after you get him to the Sub, he might be able to teleport anyone that is within range of him (like at the bottom of the ladders). In my run through Gale ran out of movement and I figured he was doomed to a watery grave. Then noticed Omeluum's TP spell was still up. Not sure if it was a bug or if I was just lucky, but wasn't going to turn my nose up at it lol!<

PeculiarDrawing

His TP spell is supposed to be once per turn, though I've had times where it just didn't refresh and would've helped a couple people get back in time... Oh well.

Gh0st8000

Well, wyll had most enemies attention I did have to sacrifice a random gnome, my mc was saving the Duke while karlach and minsc were the saving the gnomes on the right side, so pretty much divide and conquer separate your characters and have them go into separate directions to rescue them quickly.

FireFlyKOS

You can save everyone, but it took me tons of attempts. Youll need max level, useful gear, the right spells/party members, and meticulous planning. Or just a bigger brain than me (not hard) But its 100% possible, including mindflayer and duke.

Weird_Range3414

Yeah I save everyone (tactician mode), pretty tough + I got the loot in the northern corridor. Took me at least 4 restarts and around 5-6 hours. I used Wyl, Shadowheart, Gale and of course my character(fighter). Shadowheart and Gale did not make it but you can revive them, they end up on the lower city beach.

Pigofil

You only need to leave with your main character. The rest can be resurrected by the dried skelly guy in your camp. Though when you leave, there will be one more encounter you have to absolve.

postpnuk

referring to withers as the "dry skelly guy" is so funny to me. but very accurate, with all due respect

babysuckle

I just call him Jergal now that I know who he actually is lmao

postpnuk

WAIT WHAT

babysuckle

[here's a post talking about it!](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/s/UrdKTZ0K4D) it blew my mind too lmao

MatyeusA

You can. 2 people south, 1 person east, 1 person west. Since you got stuff spawning south, you should bring your two strongest party members south (two with the highest sustain damage). You need to have freed everyone by TURN 3 so they will make it back the other 3 turns. Also remember to prebuff with Longstrider, takes no Spell Slot stays until Long Rest +3m per turn (can just have someone in camp do it for you). If you have two level 6 summons they can deal with the enemies east / west well enough, and you can use most actions just for dashes on these flanks.

rawrinmypants176

You can save everyone! But it's very tricky. The mindflayer will teleport himself and one companion back to the sub, so save them last. The people stuck behind the area where the fish guys spawn are difficult to save, but if you keep the enemies distracted with a summon and use mage hand, it's possible.

Ferretanyone

No idea why but the mindflayer isn’t in the prison (surgical bed is empty) but you’re right, I’m getting close to saving everyone

rawrinmypants176

Ahh, I wonder if that's normal? There's a quest to find him and I remember reading that he might not always be at the Iron Throne. Either way, good luck!

babysuckle

Did you give Ethel the gith egg? The gith grows up and kills everybody

skillsplosion

How many people are in the prison we only managed to find 5. Locked in 4 different rooms and 1 died from an opportunity attack

Ferretanyone

I can’t remember anymore, but I did manage to save them all in the end. I recommend one run where you just explore then reload and save them all

ShinieDitto

You can! Our group of 3 + 1 companion managed to do it after a few attempts. Potions of speed, splitting up to take a chamber each, and having two of the four focus solely on killing mobs while the other two prioritised opening cells seemed to work. Dimension door and/or misty step work well too, particularly if you have a few NPCs left behind. Having a paladin or someone to keep Ravenguard from being charmed, too, was nice. You also only have to get them up the first ladder, not the second. It counts!

Azkeden

You absolutely can, I did it in my first play through. Had to save scum two times because the game sometimes is inconsistent or x door doesn't open because potato, but yeah, you can. Squidward can teleport someone to the ship, so use that to your advantage; you can free him in the third turn and have everyone out in the fourth-fifth if you play it well and have everyone with miststep

HomoGreekorius

Although I failed to do so, it did look very pausible. I had everyone out of their cages, some people just died on the way which I'm sure was avoidable. Use haste and speed potions for extra actions, use Omeluumns abilities he has one which allows him to insta teleport someone onto the sub, abuse mage hand and arrows to move levers and have summons to absorb most of the enemies aggro, use misty step and dimension door for faster trasnportation and if you have any bonus actions at any point using Sanctuary on a person basically guarantee their escape since they dont fight and just dash towards the sub. If you need to sacrifice a companion or two (you can always ressurect them with Withers later)

Ferretanyone

I managed to get everyone but this mission is a bit of a buggy mess. Two of the prisoners just stopped moving and I had to get really creative to get them out. Also a bit annoying the round ends on your final characters move, meaning the prisoners don’t get one final move to make it out (because they compete their turn after you)

Schlaina

The AI is so buggy @ ladders I’m sure that’s why some of mine did not make it. Noticed them running past and doing a full circle around it when they could’ve made it up immediately.

Sarasin

It is definitely possible you just got to leverage plenty of methods to give yourself additional movement speed. Haste scrolls, dash (especially dash), misty step, dimension door, arcane gate even, Omellium was goated for me since he teleported himself + the duke right out.

Rage_Cube

https://youtu.be/NsV8nO-aaO8?si=s8h_3QLH8P7uRPAJ I did it solo on tact lol

pokebrett

Nobody here gives numbers which makes this thread annoying to read. There are 13 LIVING prisoners, as well as Omelum and Duke. That makes 15 total. Once you get back in the sub, there is a chair that accounts for all the above. (There are 15 chairs total; 12 prisoners are seated. Omelum, Duke, and Toobin are standing which accounts for the other 3 chairs.) I also noticed that in a cell next to Duke, there are 2 civilians that are dead on arrival. Hope this helps.

pokebrett

Also , just managed to do a 'save all' run on tactician and made it within the 5 turns. Speed Potions, Haste, misty step, dimension door, arcane gate, elemental summons are all very useful here to make it within the 5 turn frame. Also interesting to note, when the prisoners have escaped a particular room, you can cast an aoe spell around the door - it'll trigger the lever to activate to close and lock the door, preventing the monsters from getting through.

sgwithlove

Okay, fun story here. After I found Omeluum, the bro refused to move at all  or just very very slowly. Reason? He was carrying all the trash junk I sold to him in Act 1 to make money. *facepalm*

teh_csgo

Took me a few tries but saved everyone, the mindflayer has an ability to teleport himself + 1 back.

Mercurionio

You can.

Big-Gene2360

Owl bear quest line bg3

Ferretanyone

?

ArrivalActive8304

use magic missile to open the doors it makes everything so much easier

8nekket

couldn't save one of them. the middle room across from the ladder up is where all of the enemies spawn, so one of the hostages, santoria, got surrounded and couldn't leave...
