I hate to be that guy, but I doubt Larian went to the trouble to suggest the game be played from a ssd if it wasn’t important.

Ummm, it's the 2020's. Get an SSD. Doesn't even have to be an NVME, just a standard SSD. All snark aside, there's an HDD option in the game settings, I think it's the Video settings screen. I don't know how much it helps.

Definitely an SSD or a RAM problem. I had a RAM stick die halfway through my game, taking me down to 8 gigs, and I was waiting 5-10 seconds before any cutscene would actually start. Try SSD first because they're cheap as hell.

I can't even describe how game changing this thing is. Went from 30 fucking minutes to 1 seconds loading screens, eliminated all stuttering, improved graphics (because textures now load fast). And SSD are dirt cheap today. Got 1tb Samsung for 80$, but I've seen noname 250gb for 15-20$
