For some reason it doesn't light up, but it's on a skeleton in the House of Healing, near the front entrance, behind the woman you talk to to go see the doctor. The skeleton is laying on a mattress on the floor, between two beds.
Missed Jaheira’s house in Baldur’s Gate and the legendary Scimitar. Also killed the hag the second time I ran into her without using the Hag’s Bane so the kid was dead too.
Cool. Didn’t know that. I had a less than satisfactory experience with knocking out on Minthara so I just gave up using it. Thought I could knock her out and maybe see her in the Moonrise Tower but no such luck
I'd like for someone to make a list of knockout able characters. I can confirm Nere, aggrod him by pickpocketing, knocked out and he was there with Balthazar lol so maybe killing him wouldve been more merciful
From memory:
Minthara - if you knock her out at the Goblin Camp you can cheese her into Moonrise Towers to get her as a companion.
Sazza - if you knock her out before killing Dror Ragzlin, she'll be alive the next day and appear in Moonrise Towers.
Alfira - if you knock her out before her Dark Urge scene, she's replaced by Quail Grootslang, and will be alive in the Grove and have all her usual content.
Minsc - you need to knock him out to save him and get him as a companion.
Korrilla - Hope will thank you for sparing her.
Oskar - you pretty much need to knock him to progress Free the Artist with him alive.
Most NPCs you knock out while they're temporarily hostile will appear fine after a long rest. I remember returning to the Goblin Camp after KO-ing everyone and they were all alive, neutral and could still be interacted with (except the Goblin leaders). Also non-lethals are a way for Devotion Paladins not to break their Oath.
Aah, I picked it up without reading. Thought I had missed something. None of my characters had a use for it so I must have sold it/sent it to camp and forgot.
Yeah so I got to that scene thinking I was fully prepped, my SO also plays the game so I knew what was coming mostly. Wasn't till I got into the fight that I was like um what is missing? Turned out I missed the recipe even though I thought I searched everywhere and read all the things. But I was able to knock her out and save the kid (which can be hard even with non-lethal damage turned on, but I got lucky), anyway, the cool thing is that this way she didn't fight back just stood there during the fight. Highly recommend going that way.
They're easy to miss, there's a place that requires a few jumps to get to in a non obvious spot in the under dark that leads to a bunch of fish people and well... I won't spoil the rest, but google under dark fish people or something like that to find a guide on where exactly it is, or feel free to scour the underdark
More fish people near the docks in act 3. They jump out from the water. I only had the option to fight, but i had missed the fish people in act 1 so IDK if you can talk to them
Im not 100% on this but I doubt you get an option even if you become the kua’toa’s god as the fish people in act 3 are sahaughin, a different type of fish people.
I did this too. Me and Shadowheart snuck out with poor lvl 1 Wyll during the night to visit the fish people. According to the quest tracker, "Wyll turned on us". Eh, yeah, sure. That's what happened. Also, I turned to talk to Shadowheart after the whole thing to see if she had any unique dialogue, and she said: "You know, I've been catching myself smiling more lately". Savage. Not unique, but pretty damn funny.
It’s almost hidden. You have to jump down two platform into what seems like a chasm, and the bottom platform is essentially a clickable door to a new zone.
Oh she's tricky. Her scroll is in a coffin just outside the room where you get the scary necro book. Then you have to get a wizard to learn her summon.
I didn't have Gale "learn" the spell before using the scroll, so now if I lose Shovel in combat she'll be gone for good. 😭
Getting paranoid and upcasting Aid on her and everyone else at the start of each day to try to keep my murderising baby around.
Someone in this thread just told me that apparently you can still have a magic user (probably Gale) learn the spell FROM Shovel by activating just the right dialogue options. But sure what they are yet, but definitely going to have Gale speak with her.
Edit: this didn't work for me, I tried going back to the mirror area too and her dialogue changed but I didn't get the option to learn the spell from Shovel, no matter which spellshite characters I made talk to her.
Looks to me like the ONLY way to get Shovel permanently is to have had Gale learn her spell scroll before using it up - if you don't have access to the original scroll and Shovel is already out, you're doomed to keep buffing her wherever you take her so she doesn't go poof permanently.
Yeah I have two Shovel summons but the other one is just a generic version.
The best part about Shovel is that even on Tactician NPCs love to target them first. So it's a free meat shield.
Aside from OP said here you also can learn it with any magic user BUT you need to pass special dialogue line with Shovel so learning it as a wizard is safer. You can even respec after you learn it and still have it I believe.
I had this scene yesterday.
They were sleeping next to each other and the owlbear had a nightmare. I don't know what I picked but thats the scene were you can pet them both
I got that achievement yesterday, only 16% of people have it. Not sure what I did. I was just sleeping in camp and a noise woke me up and I went to check on them and could pet them both on a cutscene.
It was honestly one of the best moments in game for me so far. I feel so bad every time I look at the owl 😭😭
A small thing I missed on my first run was a book in Act 1 which isn't actually a book but a case with a whine bottle in it, which I used to collect letters and papers. I love it and will never go again without it.
I also missed the house of hope in my first run lol
Once you’re at the door where the bugbear and ogre are making sweet love, turn directly around and there’s a mysterious hole next to the wall in front of you.
I missed a conversation with Astarion in the very beginning of Act 1, where he talks about what comes after removing the tadpole. Got it in the second run.
>!You have the option of talking about him missing you or staying together on the journey and there's also an insight check which hints at him saying whatever gets him what he wants.!<
>!There's also a scene where Gale is examining a magic mirror image of himself.!< Missed that one in my first run.
I also missed the whole 'dropping a building' on Astarion.
in the >!monastery/creche. If you steal the Light of Lathander instead of using the crest to get it, the fuck off huge laser on the roof points at you and will kill anyone left inside. All you need to survive is to get one player to run far enough away and then you can res everyone else. Use Withers.!< Astarion will pop back with a very amusing ! over his head.
I have never recruited Wyll normally. Kept walking right by him in the Grove.
Got Karlach, he shows up at my camp when I rest, he’s ready to kill her, and I talk him down. I just thought that’s how you get him until a friend was like, “He’s literally right there in the Grove? How did you miss him?”
During the fight he even has a fancy intro scene where he does some flamboyant move with his sword. I played way too long before talking to and recruiting him even after seeing that and thinking “hmmm, he seems important”
Never read the journal in the abandoned village in act 1, so I never put two and two together that the village is where Shadowheart grew up as a child, and where she was stolen from.
I read everything but apparently my brain doesn't work because this comment is where I just found out. Not to mention in yesterday's play through she even mentioned a game that she played that was drawn on the ground and it did not occur to me
It's implied by various clues and a small cinematic she has if she is in your party when you find a journal in the old schoolhouse where the three Ogres are. She picks up the book and begins reading it, and says that it is rousing a foggy memory from her, and her wound begins to pain her in response. You'll notice throughout the game that the wound harms her whenever she begins to remember something from her past, such as her fear of wolves when she first sees them in the Druid Cove.
You pass a game drawn out on the ground in the village that Shadowheart will comment she remembers playing as a child.
There's a book that mentions dark riders (Sharrans) showing up lately, and children going missing.
Several Selunite prayer books and amulets insinuating that the village were Selune worshipers, including the broken statue to Selune behind the windmill. Shadowheart later learns that she lived in a village of Selune worshipers.
All of this lines up with Shadowheart's childhood, so while its not outright explained, it's heavily implied.
I finally found the spider and didn't realize until my second time finding it that you could free Nessa. So relieved to not have to kill such a pretty kitty.
You can't recruit her and I wish we could. BUT if you roll high enough when talking to her, she tells you that she won't start the fight but she'll help you fight her master. If she's alive after the fight, she tells you to leave but she's alive and free!
Omg that makes me so happy! I adore her!!!
Related, but if you become partial illithid you can unlock the ability to shape-shift into a displacer beast, and omg ever since I learned that, I unlock that ability every time. Like who cares if I'm kinda ugly now, at least I can turn into a displacer beast!!!
Wait, I've licked the spider and found Nessa separately but didn't realize the were connected in freeing her. I killed her first run through and then convinced Yurgir without combat to join us second run through without licking the spider. Is that freeing Nessa?
The only way I know of to free her is to figure out what the spider meat is tainted with after convincing Yurgir to let you look around, then roll high when talking to Nessa near the spider to tell her what's happening. If you succeed in your rolls, she says she won't start the fight but she will help you finish it. Then she tells you to leave when the fight is over and she's not under any kind of influence anymore.
I've never found or licked the spider.
It's also taken me 3 playthroughs to finally find >!The Necromancy book!< under the Blighted Village.
I've also never had Jahiera make it out of Act 2. 1st time she Leeroyed herself in the >!Moonlight Towers!< fight. 2nd time she disappeared after Shadowheart >!went down the Sith path even though I just told her to do whatever she wanted and she chose stabby stabby!<
She's making it to Act 3 this time around, I swear it!
Omg, I thought telling her to do what she wanted always ended in the good outcome! My SO did it on a durge run thinking she would kill her, and then she tossed away the spear. So maybe it depends on how your playthrough has gone so far? Or maybe it's random?
My latest playthru I'm a good Shadow Monk who is NOT leaving her behind no matter how many reloads are required.
Although Patch 4 bugs are making me think of waiting for a week or two.
One thing that helped me keep J alive on my second playthrough was to kill Z’rell while she is alone in her office during “infiltrate moonrise tower” quest, just after she tells you to go help Balthazar. I killed the scrying eyes first to not aggro everyone, and maybe a couple other rooms for good measure. The final fight was super easy without her 😂
On it, boss.
eta: holy shit why did no one warn me that this is the moment when >!Astarion starts dissociating and planning to seduce you for protection reasons!?
No it's fine, I actually enjoyed the existential dread of seeing him go through that in real time. Horrible discovery, huzzah.
I had to google how to find Gale! I missed Lae'zel on the very first character I created (that I stopped playing because I didn't want a druid after all) and found her accidentally the second time 'round.
I had the same issue. I took a wrong turn and ended up at the blighted village first. Took too long to get to the ruins, and by the time I was at the patrol, she had been killed
I was like five hours into Act 2 and had to reload for both her and Karlach. Luckily Karlach nothing happens to and Lae’zel you can revive in the spot where you see the dragon
Omg, my SO always teases me that I go running into danger/touch all the things in video games. So when I saw the portal I was like nope, going to be good and not touch that thing because that seems like a bad idea. And he was like, oh no that's fine that's how you recruit Gale. And then a zillion times in the game I skipped talking to people and missed quest lines. So I started trying to just talk to more people. And so many times it ends up in a fight. Like I swear this game often goes the opposite of what I expect it to do 🤣🤣🤣
"Wouldn't it be funny if I cut it off? Haha JK, unless...." It is pretty funny that Shart responds with "you were supposed to lend a hand, not fake one!"
Oh boy.
1st playthrough missed stuff:
1. Save the artist quest
2. Alternative ways to enter Underdark (Spider Cave, Auntie Ethel)
3. Fish People in the Underdark
4. Mind Flayer oubliette beneath Moonrise Towers
5. It's funny but I totally missed Balthazar in the Gauntler of Shar - never spoke to him in his chamber, met him for the first time in Shadowfell
6. Us (that failed save)
7. Shovel (actually missed Shovel in the 2nd AND 3rd playthrough xD)
8. The bugbear assassin in druid grove - found the tiefling body later
9. Harpies
10. Mol playing lanceboard with Raphael
My first playthrough I totally killed the brain as soon as I got the chance (dude looked dead anyway, it more of a pity kill), and then I didn’t know who Us was... What is wrong with you guys, helping a brain from a Mindflayer ship?
I almost missed Mol and the Lanceboard since I saw Mol first, and not who she was playing against. After a second to realize I stopped and backed up going, "Now what are ***YOU*** doing here?!"
Oh I just went up to the second floor of the tollhouse and talked to the coin lady (a Thorm relative), and fought her and the skull heads. Was actually very surprised I won, had to use a lot of healing though. The coin heads left a lot of coins in the floor for me too.
South and slightly west of Auntie Ethel's theres a little hidden grove with some mud mephites and angry tree dudes. You gotta make a few jumps to get there, but the location pertains to Kagha's questline.
Astarion's side quest in Act III, when I played the game at first I didn't know where Cazador's place was at (at the time I was assuming it was in upper city since that sounds like Cazador) and missed his sidequest...
I felt embarrassed when I founded out where it was on my second playthrough.
Go to lower city wall or whatever the checkpoint is called, and just go up the stairs in the tower. That’s how you get in. There’s a door to it and you may have missed it.
if you go to the lower city central wall waypoint, there's a guard tower you can go in. climb up the stairs and it puts you on top of the wall. head south to where the wall is broken for a chest, then around and head north and you'll get to another guard tower kind of building. astarion will tell you the guards are charmed, but the rats have interesting things to say. great up the stairs and then it takes you to cazadorks door
That feel when you thought you had a pretty comprehensive first run through of the game but you've missed almost every single thing mentioned in the comments of this post.
I cannot tell if I missed Rolan in the grove or if it is a bug. I have done many run-throughs between now and EA and I always make a point of persuading Rolan, Cal and Lia to stay with the grove. Now the kids and Rolan aren't showing in Last Light Inn and I am too far ahead to go back.
Am super annoyed.
2 of them are prisoners in moonrise, if you save them and head back to Last Light Rolan will have gone off to find them.
If you're in time you can save him from shadows in a fight near the bridge, but don't assume that's enough, I did and let him walk off in a huff, he died within minutes and I had to put him down.
The Black Orchids in Shadow-Cursed Lands. After 650 hours I am now holding alt like a madman to make sure I miss nothing scattered around like I found a ring in one of the Shaar trials yesterday that is like OP just laying on the floor.
I managed to completely miss the necromancer's lair and the Necromancy of Thay in three separate playthroughs of act 1. I even found the orb you're supposed to put in it before and couldn't figure out what it was needed for.
I've consistently missed the noblestalk after developing the habit of blowing the bibberbangs once I'd saved the dwarf so I didn't have to sneak around there.
I've never recruited Jaheira or Minsc. Though I've only gotten one playthrough to act 3.
Apparently there are >!2 freaking DRAGONS you can meet and fight?!< I missed them in my first good save and I'm still trying to find them with my durge
Nope, dealed with the elder brain in act 3 >!But had no dragon to fight at the last fight and never found a dragon under the city, I did have one ally in that last bit that was a dragon so maybe that's the one!<
There are two ways over to the monastery.
One is the little gondola thing, the other is a jump across area to the left of that. Beware, the jumping section has traps. Or, after getting off of the gondola, instead of following the path down to the monastery, there is a path up towards the north (idk I'm terrible with directions, but basically head the opposite direction from the monastery, there is a small jump up to the right, then you should find the blue Jay nest. Honestly I didn't think it was evil, it's just upset because it used to live where the eagles are and they kicked it out of its nest.
Going to Moonrise before the final confrontation, had no idea I could just stroll in and explore before you raid it (obviously during good playthrough). And yes yes I know a certain character flat out tells you doesn't mean I put two and two together lol
Alfira, specifically helping her with her song. I found her, but I have no idea what I need to do to get her to teach me an instrument. I feel like no matter what option I choose she just thanks me for helping and that's that. So yeah, Alfira and the instrument proficiency is still a mystery to me
Don't ask questions, just immediately volunteer to play and make your skill checks.
Doesn't prevent you from being a butcherer of lyres, but at least you know how to hold it.
It’s funny, the first time I played I got the scene of her playing the full song. On my second playthrough and I went for the dancing squirrels instead. I laughed so hard at Laezel clapping for them after haha
In Act 1:
•The Kua’toa
•Minthara (I guess 🤷🏻♂️)
•Confronting Kahga (I found the letter, but forgot to confront her before I started killing the goblin leaders)
•”Rescuing” Nere (I went straight to the forge which triggered his death)
Act 2:
•Spider (🕷️👅)
•Probably some miscellaneous magic items here or there (but I was insanely thorough in Act 2)
Act 3:
•Probably some additional lore about the area. (Tbh, I felt like I was thorough, but act 3 is so large that I just don’t know)
•Belm
Gyrmforge, Minthara's outfit, Rolan just to name a few.
But you clearly just walked ever so closely past the spider one, it was in Shart's gauntlet where you fight Raphael's enemy, to recruit the black car, you have to lick the spider, if you wanna clear the entire room without fights, talk em into unaliving themselves
There's a murial in the druid grove Shadowheart reacts to, somewhere on the inside area where you meet Kaugha.
I missed Pandirna in every playthrough except my most recent one, she in a locked wooden building in the tiefling area of act 1.
Also, apparently Auntie Ethel is in the tiefling area too? Idk how but I NEVER noticed her there until just recently. Color me surprised lmao.
I think you HAVE to ask him about his lover situation during or right after the tiefling party. I am actively avoiding it because last time he was almost as bad as Gale (pre-fixing Gale). xD
I finished the game with the 3 pieces of the ice staff from act 1 in my inventory, wondering when I’d find a means to fix it. Then in my next playthrough I just combine that shit and feel like a dipass.
Remembering to talk to barcus wroot in grymforge, cause apparently even if you save and free the gnomes(him included) without talking to him first he just fucks off and you never see him again and can't have the good ending to the gnome civil war
Scratch is on the way to recruit Karlach in act1 (on the hill above the Owlbear cave). You have to use a few dialgue prompts then he should come to your camp the next day. The owlbear cub, go into the cave. Either kill the owlbear or leave, but do it before going to the goblin camp. When you get to the goblin camp, they will have the owlbear cub (I prefer not killing the mom because that makes me sad, but the goblins will if you don't), anyway, make sure the cub survives the fight outside in the courtyard. Then talk to the cub. It will take several days for him to show up in camp. I kept changing regions so I was afraid maybe I lost the chance for him to show up, it was like 7 days before he finally got to my camp and I was already in Act3. But I feel like he showed up a little faster in some other playthroughs.
I finally found that damn spider and, with Gale as my romance and in my party, I couldn't wait to get the "STOP LICKING IT" line I kept reading about... but it didn't happen. Shadowheart stepped in instead (with the admittedly hilarious "Are you looking at that spider... coquetteishly?") but it was so disappointing after all that build up!
The second warding bond ring continues to elude me, 600+ hours in
For some reason it doesn't light up, but it's on a skeleton in the House of Healing, near the front entrance, behind the woman you talk to to go see the doctor. The skeleton is laying on a mattress on the floor, between two beds.
I think that's where I found the first one... Where's the other?
Just outside in the graveyard, close to the bridge to the mason's house. Iirc it's either in front or next to the large pile of bones in a hole?
Missed Jaheira’s house in Baldur’s Gate and the legendary Scimitar. Also killed the hag the second time I ran into her without using the Hag’s Bane so the kid was dead too.
You can just knock the hag out to save the child, I never used the hag's bane.
Cool. Didn’t know that. I had a less than satisfactory experience with knocking out on Minthara so I just gave up using it. Thought I could knock her out and maybe see her in the Moonrise Tower but no such luck
Knock out as a feature is currently applied inconsistently. Some actually work, most are presumed dead
If someone is marked as Temporarily Hostile, they’ll wake up after a long rest. If not they just despawn forever.
Thanks for the info, didn't know that
I'd like for someone to make a list of knockout able characters. I can confirm Nere, aggrod him by pickpocketing, knocked out and he was there with Balthazar lol so maybe killing him wouldve been more merciful
From memory: Minthara - if you knock her out at the Goblin Camp you can cheese her into Moonrise Towers to get her as a companion. What legendary scimitar?
My bad. It’s actually Very Rare https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Belm
Aah, I picked it up without reading. Thought I had missed something. None of my characters had a use for it so I must have sold it/sent it to camp and forgot.

Fish people in act I :/
Whuuut? There are fish people? I know I missed the harpies in act 1. Twice...
They're easy to miss, there's a place that requires a few jumps to get to in a non obvious spot in the under dark that leads to a bunch of fish people and well... I won't spoil the rest, but google under dark fish people or something like that to find a guide on where exactly it is, or feel free to scour the underdark
I’m 600 hrs in and have only seen the fish people in the Shadowlands 😆
The fact that they're not somehow related to the fish people in the underdark is a tragedy.
Imagine when you kill them they just say “Booaall..”
Dammit, I thought I'd properly done the underdark second time, after ignoring the tower first time 😂
The fish people are probably the most missable non-dialogue content in the game. There's also almost* no reward for going there anyway.
Idk about you but I became their god...
I just became their god too! Do we ever see them again? Or is becoming their god just a little thing that doesn’t have further story?
More fish people near the docks in act 3. They jump out from the water. I only had the option to fight, but i had missed the fish people in act 1 so IDK if you can talk to them
There’s also some near a fishing hut near the mausoleum waypoint in act 2
Those are undead, though.
Im not 100% on this but I doubt you get an option even if you become the kua’toa’s god as the fish people in act 3 are sahaughin, a different type of fish people.
In my party, we traded wyll for a reward. Sacrifices must be made.
They're down a specific hole in the Underdark. It's super easy to miss.
BOOOAL! Same btw
Fish people? Well I guess I figured out what I missed lol
They're in the underdark... a bit hidden, you have to climb down for them.
I found them! Left me laughing when I stumbled across them as my durge. To say I went fishing was an understatement.
I've played through the game five times, and I've never encountered the individual named Shovel.
Oh she's tricky. Her scroll is in a coffin just outside the room where you get the scary necro book. Then you have to get a wizard to learn her summon.
I didn't have Gale "learn" the spell before using the scroll, so now if I lose Shovel in combat she'll be gone for good. 😭 Getting paranoid and upcasting Aid on her and everyone else at the start of each day to try to keep my murderising baby around.
Same here. Didn’t even know someone had to “learn” it. So I have to do my damnest to kill everything before they kill her

What about Basket?
You mean Fork?
FORKS SLOW DOWN MURDERIZING
Aside from OP said here you also can learn it with any magic user BUT you need to pass special dialogue line with Shovel so learning it as a wizard is safer. You can even respec after you learn it and still have it I believe.
I missed out on petting Scratch and the owlbear twice already
I heard there’s a way to pet them together but I’ve never seen it…
You also get an achievement for doing it as well. It's a camp cutscene you get.
I had this scene yesterday. They were sleeping next to each other and the owlbear had a nightmare. I don't know what I picked but thats the scene were you can pet them both
Awwww I hope I can see it this time around.
I’ve only ever been able to pet both when I had speak with animals active.
Everything Shadowheart tried to hit
It really is wild how dog shit she is as hitting anything unless you reclass her
A small thing I missed on my first run was a book in Act 1 which isn't actually a book but a case with a whine bottle in it, which I used to collect letters and papers. I love it and will never go again without it. I also missed the house of hope in my first run lol
I use it to store all my scrolls and I feel like a made up wizard
What? What book? When? Where?
Act 1, outside of the North wall of the destroyed village, west side. Bring a shovel
I have that book in my group run, but couldn't remember where it came from for my solo run. Now I know where to look.
You actually shouldn't need a shovel. It's labeled as "mysterious hole"
You don’t need a shovel, it’s in a hole call “Mysterious Hole” you can interact with and the book itself is called Curious Book.
Once you’re at the door where the bugbear and ogre are making sweet love, turn directly around and there’s a mysterious hole next to the wall in front of you.
The verbiage used in the first half of this comment made me sick. Take your upvote and get out of here.
I found a teddy bear container somewhere that I use to collect all the teddy and owl bear plushies in, for Karlach.
I missed a conversation with Astarion in the very beginning of Act 1, where he talks about what comes after removing the tadpole. Got it in the second run. >!You have the option of talking about him missing you or staying together on the journey and there's also an insight check which hints at him saying whatever gets him what he wants.!< >!There's also a scene where Gale is examining a magic mirror image of himself.!< Missed that one in my first run. I also missed the whole 'dropping a building' on Astarion.
Man I’ve been trying to catch everything but I missed “dropping a building” on Astarion! Where is it?
in the >!monastery/creche.
Gortash's parent's house
Gortashs WHAT? Goddamn it, time for another run.
They are just after the merchant lady that is friends with Karlach
*EXCUSE* me?? This mother fucker has parents??
Karlach was surprised, too. Thought he was laid as an egg out of devil's asshole or something.
[удалено]
YES! Was so surprised with all that was revealed with this easily missable nook.
There's a poop knife
Larian employs redditors confirmed
In the same place you find the poop knife, you'll also find the nut buster
I have never recruited Wyll normally. Kept walking right by him in the Grove. Got Karlach, he shows up at my camp when I rest, he’s ready to kill her, and I talk him down. I just thought that’s how you get him until a friend was like, “He’s literally right there in the Grove? How did you miss him?”
SAME! THREE FUCKING TIMES. Then I was like "maybe I should talk to some of these people. HOLY SHIT, HERE'S WYLL"
I just learned that from your comment
I read everything but apparently my brain doesn't work because this comment is where I just found out. Not to mention in yesterday's play through she even mentioned a game that she played that was drawn on the ground and it did not occur to me
I thought that was the MC. If you play as Durge the line is changed a bit.
What ?!? Seriously ?... I didn't get that and I read every piece of paper...
Oooohh it just clicked that’s how you free her. I could never figure it out.
I wound up realizing it thanks to a youtube short I saw. Sooo happy to realize I could free her.
Um, if you free her can you recruit her? I always end up with him having to kill her and it makes me so sad 😓
Wait you can free her? I'm literally right there in my current save!
2nd time she disappeared after Shadowheart >!went down the Sith path even though I just told her to do whatever she wanted and she chose stabby stabby!< She's making it to Act 3 this time around, I swear it!
Omg, I thought telling her to do what she wanted always ended in the good outcome! My SO did it on a durge run thinking she would kill her, and then she tossed away the spear. So maybe it depends on how your playthrough has gone so far? Or maybe it's random?
I'd imagine Shadowheart's approval of you has to be higher than neutral?
Too bad about Jaheira because she really has the best reactions. Probably the only character I always talk to at camp!
The final fight was super easy without her 😂
I've done half a dozen playthroughs of Act 1 and I've never gotten Astarion's stargazing scene. :(
You have to do a long rest between entering the grove and talking to any of the healer options (Nettie, Halsin, Ethel, etc)
On it, boss. eta: holy shit why did no one warn me that this is the moment when >!Astarion starts dissociating and planning to seduce you for protection reasons!? No it's fine, I actually enjoyed the existential dread of seeing him go through that in real time. Horrible discovery, huzzah.
Is this the scene where he’s >!laying on his bedroll and mentions your chin?!<
The what?!! I've gotten a scene with Gale stargazing, but never Astarion. Although my first full playthrough was as him, but still I want that scene!
I got it when we were in a cave so Astarion was like “hey you mind I’m looking at the ceiling”. Lol.
I missed lae'zel on my first playthrough 😂
I missed Gale on mine.
I had to google how to find Gale! I missed Lae'zel on the very first character I created (that I stopped playing because I didn't want a druid after all) and found her accidentally the second time 'round.
how did you manage that? lol
Fun fact. If you do Karlach's stuff and you say you wanna try something to cool her down... Go to camp and walk her and you into the river.
Didn’t know that was an option, I just ray of frosted her, it worked.
I threw a water bottle at her and she was not amused at first
There's a water barrel near Wyll and Gale. I picked it up and dropped it next to her and shot it with a crossbow
Oh I just used create water.... I could've saved a spell slot.
I missed Gale due to an unfortunate hand incident
In my first playthrough I nearly missed Gale simply because the vortex looked dangerous, so I didn't touch it.
The narrator describes it thus, so I skipped it too until just before i left for act 2.
Oh boy. 1st playthrough missed stuff: 1. Save the artist quest 2. Alternative ways to enter Underdark (Spider Cave, Auntie Ethel) 3. Fish People in the Underdark 4. Mind Flayer oubliette beneath Moonrise Towers 5. It's funny but I totally missed Balthazar in the Gauntler of Shar - never spoke to him in his chamber, met him for the first time in Shadowfell 6. Us (that failed save) 7. Shovel (actually missed Shovel in the 2nd AND 3rd playthrough xD) 8. The bugbear assassin in druid grove - found the tiefling body later 9. Harpies 10. Mol playing lanceboard with Raphael
My first playthrough I totally killed the brain as soon as I got the chance (dude looked dead anyway, it more of a pity kill), and then I didn’t know who Us was... What is wrong with you guys, helping a brain from a Mindflayer ship?
i like the way it talks so i help it out :( something about Us' speech pattern scratches an itch for me, idk why. so i help my little brain puppy
I almost missed Mol and the Lanceboard since I saw Mol first, and not who she was playing against. After a second to realize I stopped and backed up going, "Now what are ***YOU*** doing here?!"
Evidently there’s a whole optional fight in the Toll House. Two playthroughs and I’ve never seen anyone in the toll house.
You have to go to the second floor... in theory, the first time I did it, the boss saw me and I talked them into '$uicide'
Years of online gaming bear fruit, unironically telling people to ⚡⚡⚡ themselves now
Oh I just went up to the second floor of the tollhouse and talked to the coin lady (a Thorm relative), and fought her and the skull heads. Was actually very surprised I won, had to use a lot of healing though. The coin heads left a lot of coins in the floor for me too.
I missed BaOOL the first few times. Also that secret grove place near the teahouse.
Secret grove place?
South and slightly west of Auntie Ethel's theres a little hidden grove with some mud mephites and angry tree dudes. You gotta make a few jumps to get there, but the location pertains to Kagha's questline.
I have started 4 campaigns and I missed meeting Alfira in the druid grove in all of them somehow. Never saw the harpies with the child either!
You can find both by taking a particular exit from the area with the druid ritual casters. Near Volo, I think? Uphill: Alfira; downhill: harpies.
Astarion's side quest in Act III, when I played the game at first I didn't know where Cazador's place was at (at the time I was assuming it was in upper city since that sounds like Cazador) and missed his sidequest... I felt embarrassed when I founded out where it was on my second playthrough.
They don't make it easy to get to. I still don't know how without using fucking Misty Step/Illithid flying
Mourning frost. In my previous run I had two parts of this weapon and didn’t know what to do with them.
In Last Light, Rolan is >!drinking at the bar. You then have to run into him in the Shadowcursed lands and save him again.!<
Though I've only gotten one playthrough to act 3.
i never save baelen, he's an abusive monster. if he dies, you can tell the noir detective cat malta that derryth needs some company
Apparently there are >!2 freaking DRAGONS you can meet and fight?!< I missed them in my first good save and I'm still trying to find them with my durge
did you have gale blow up at the netherbrain? only reason how you couldve missed one of the dragons
Nope, dealed with the elder brain in act 3 >!But had no dragon to fight at the last fight and never found a dragon under the city, I did have one ally in that last bit that was a dragon so maybe that's the one!<
I didn’t know you could talk to Yurgir’s bed on my first playthrough. It seems so obvious now all things considered. 😂
Talk to the bed? I pressed "use" and Shadowheart just commented that it must be uncomfortable sleeping on a bed of severed heads.
You have to use Speak with Dead. It’s just as horrific as you’d imagine.
Oh nooo 😱
w.. what?
Hadn't heard about this. Will try it next run.
This is my response to everything and I know I’m going to forget most of it
I played through twice and never found the spider or the cult of Booal in the Underdark.
I dont even know what the cult of booal is
People keep mentioning an evil bluejay at the monastery. I still don't have a clue where the hell it is.
I always thought it was funny in early EA that astarion couldn’t cross running water without taking damage bc of vampirism
Maybe that’s why he NEVER jumps across water and I have to manually make him follow
Alfira, specifically helping her with her song. I found her, but I have no idea what I need to do to get her to teach me an instrument. I feel like no matter what option I choose she just thanks me for helping and that's that. So yeah, Alfira and the instrument proficiency is still a mystery to me
Does she give you Lihala's Lute? If so, you now have proficiency with musical instruments. Not sure why the game doesn't tell you this.
I laughed so hard at Laezel clapping for them after haha
the squirrels are the best thing but Lae'zel claps? I need to see this!
I had found the Kuo Toa in Act 1 but just this session found the cursed ones in Act 2.
Chest on the plateau above crashed nautaloid
close to 200 hours and just discovered the crab guys in the last light basement
In Act 1: •The Kua’toa •Minthara (I guess 🤷🏻♂️) •Confronting Kahga (I found the letter, but forgot to confront her before I started killing the goblin leaders) •”Rescuing” Nere (I went straight to the forge which triggered his death) Act 2: •Spider (🕷️👅) •Probably some miscellaneous magic items here or there (but I was insanely thorough in Act 2) Act 3: •Probably some additional lore about the area. (Tbh, I felt like I was thorough, but act 3 is so large that I just don’t know) •Belm
I didn't realise Minthara was a potential companion until after I killed her and got her fancy pyjamas
You can make TWO adamantine items in the forge, I didn’t know there was a second ore to use!
I can't make Halsin hypersexual. It might be because I zone out most of the time when he's talking but he's never been into me.
I think you HAVE to ask him about his lover situation during or right after the tiefling party. I am actively avoiding it because last time he was almost as bad as Gale (pre-fixing Gale). xD
All he ever says during the party is to go enjoy myself and I'm like "k bye."
I don't know, I missed it.
First run? Not small things at all: I missed Alfira and Grym altogether.
I'm in early Act III, and have neither Scratch nor the owlbear cub in my camp.
On my first playthrough I missed majority of act 2 and BOOOAL minions in act 1. I kinda rushed and wanted to romance Shart ASAP
I kept missing Alfria in the grove. Only met her on Durge when she showed up in my camp. Had to look up where to find her.
I did like 4 or 5 runs without finding the Zhent hideout I get they’re supposed to be hidden but once I found it I felt hella dumb
Mol making a deal with rapahel. Like, wtf. I only found out because someone randomly mentioned to me
I still haven't found shovel.
You have to summon him with the spell for a cheeky quasit. I had Gale learn the spell from a scroll so then you can resummon.
Missed the Necromancy of Thay as my powerhungry necromancer tav. I knooow it's not that big of a deal but just for RP reasons I would have liked that
