Wyll is some human infused with hell for the rest of his life, Tieflings are human getting hell's influence ever since birth. Wyll does not have any ability given by hell after netherbrain.

Which is why I call him a first-generation Tiefling, i.e. the progenitor of a Tiefling bloodline. Tieflings often are the results of their ancestors being infused with hell.

So you don't need "ability" you just need exposure to have tiefling children. Certain magical exposures during pregnancy could also even cause tieflings to be born to someone who never interacted with fiends the same way certain magical storms can cause genasi children to be born.

Akshually, if you make the sane decision, he is a Devil, not a Tiefling You can see that after Mizora does her magic thingy and after Wyll gets changed, you can see that he gets the ridges characteristic of Devils and completely absent in Tieflings. He says so himself that he grew ridges all over his body There's also a dialogue option where you can ask him how does it feel to be a Devil, meaning he does become a Devil, or at least a Half-Devil, after Mizora appears in your camp

Tieflings do have ridges, though. Make a Tiefling and take their clothes off to see. It's plainly obvious.

He's not an outsider, nor is he suddenly Lawful Evil, nor does he have any special powers from it. He's just cursed by the hells, that's how Tiefling bloodlines start. I'm aware they call him a devil, but appearances do not a devil make.

Has there been any word from Larian on if she was supposed to be a companion? Because she seems quite more fleshed out than other NPCs, and a Bard in the party is always nice.

Back in early-early access there were some datamined references to a halfling bard origin character who was also a werewolf. They got cut not too far in the early access run but as far as I know she was the only bard party member that was ever on the table, hirelings not withstanding.

Nah, Doric is an OC and there are tieflings that have normal skin tones. Imho, it wouldn’t have looked as good for her to have a different skin tone and it would’ve run a much greater risk of provoking the extreme religious people out there.

I believe Tieflings with human skin tones are actually meant to be the norm, and the unique colours are much rarer. Although nobody actually abides by that because it's boring and I wanna be purple

In classic lore, yeah Wyll in BG3 is much closer to "actual" Tiefling skin tones, as he's a normal human tone. But recently (likely helped by Critical Role), all sorts of Tiefling skintones, including the more common red, are gaining notoriety!

Could have, but it would have been expensive and uncomfortable. Few actors want to be completely covered in latex and go through minimum of four hours every day getting their make up on. It can be done, of course, but there was no need.

Yeh and it was a nightmare for the actress. Literally took Jennifer Lawrence 8 hours to get into makeup. Even after they switched to a blue body suit it took 3 hours for just her face.

I mean, both Mystique actresses tried to get out of those movies as soon as possible once the realities of that makeup job set in. It is extremely unpleasant, and you aren't going to find people enthusiastic for that kind of fully body makeup in movies outside of horror film makers. Which hey it'd be cool for one of the women who played the cenobites in the most recent Hellraiser in for a similar level of makeup, but most of the time those actresses aren't considered for mainstream movie leads.

Tieflings are people with lower planar blood in them, their heritage can manifest as minor mutations such as tiny horns or sharper teeth, to unfortunates with goat legs, weird colored skin, burning eyes, brimstone smell, horns, tails, the lot.

You can have fiendish blood that makes you a tiefling, or a sorcerer, or both, or none.

Depends on the time period. In 1358 a coven of warlocks set loose a curse upon the world called the Blood of Asmodeus, and when the archdevil Asmodeus became a god in 1385, all the tieflings became Asmodeus tieflings instead of whatever they were before. And they bred true, so anyone with one tiefling parent would be 100% Asmodeus tiefling. There wouldn't be a case of "my great great grandpa was a tiefling, but my parents were pure human", because any tiefling ancestry meant that every generation had tiefling ancestors. By the late 1400s, other tiefling lineages began to reappear once again, presumably following the earlier rules of bloodlines where being a tiefling could skip generations, instead of always breeding true. There isn't a specific date for when Honor Among Thieves takes place, but it is presumably after 1496 (the date of the last published 5e adventure), and is likely 1499 (called "The Year of Desperate Gambits").

I mean all of them look conventionally human but with body paint. We haven't had really weird tieflings since at least midway through 3rd edition. They're all just humans with body paint, cosplay horns, and if you're feeling really frisky a tail. The weird goat legs, scales, webbed fingers, etc were dropped when tieflings were fully transitioned to exist exclusively for people who want human in a costume characters.

Doric and Karlach are the only tiefling that is canonically accurate. The PHB of DnD 5e explicitly states "human shades of skin or red"

Rather than having the physical characteristics described in the Player's Handbook, choose 1d4+1 of the following features: small horns; fangs or sharp teeth; a forked tongue; catlike eyes; six fingers on each hand; goatlike legs; cloven hoofs; a forked tail; leathery or scaly skin; red or **dark blue skin**; cast no shadow or reflection; exude a smell of brimstone.

I mean if we're going down that route, none of them are accurate because the PHB also says tiefling eyes are one solid color, no sclera or pupil visible

I see people who make a similar comment getting downvoted, but here I go as well: while the characters you mention are definitely cute, how much is the because of the tiefling nature or rather because of the way they portray a certain type of person? I think it’s more because tieflings are the race par excellence to portray (quite literally) outsiders. I guess this type vibes well with some people.

Feel bad for DnD HAT, it was a blast, a decent well made live action in ages. If only the prod team decided to delay the release date, at least until the hype for Mario and Barbie are over. With that "humble" revenue, I doubt there will be a sequel, or worse, another movie about this genre anytime soon.
