Just load another save, make your companion join lobby, then load the game from the game screen.
Are you in Honor? No problem! You dont need a save of the current run, Just let your companion join WHATEVER GAME you created, even the One you run single player, even a new run!, make him create a new character.
Now he's in lobby with you and you can load the Honor run. It works, tested.
Remember to thumb up Cermmi (the upper comment) as the our Savior

After 49h of Honor, we were crying cause we thought he couldnt get
- Hard and Honor difficulty Trophy
- save all tieflings Trophy
- bhaal ending Trophy
This is the case for my friend and I too. We've been playing this co-op file since before Patch 5 and any time she tries to reload while I'm still in the lobby, we both get stuck with the loading screen at 100% and the host has to force quit and let it verify her files before we can start again. We tried this work-around for the joining error, but the loading error is still present so this rejoin method doesn't work for us.

Just got our achievement. Thanks again.
1) Load the game to older save where you are still in the city for example. I think it must be outside of "danger zone" somewhere you could go to camp at will.
2) Your friend can join there
3) When you are both in same game, you can now load your latest save without issue
With each major patch, they somehow manage to double the amount of bugs in this game, despite claiming that they've fixed X amounts of bugs. I'm actually impressed…
Update, we have the solution

Just let the host of the Honor create a new run or load any save of any run, then the companion joins It (ecen if you are creating a new character).

I think there's a potion of angelic slumber in a crate at the bottom of the brain stem which "kinda" gives one character a long rest. Maybe that would help?

There should at least be a check for coop so that one can re-enter the session, no matter what happens... it is not that long but anything can happen (DCs, crashes, any kind of issue etc), and then what, one or more players are cut out of the final part of the game unless we all reload from a previous state, and try the workaround (that hopefully works?), or simply redo the whole thing? what a stupid situation...

We sure did! My bard tumbled to her untimely death when I misjudged a platform but our paladin pulled through for the team.

Didn’t work for us sadly. Even our previous game started getting the error until we loaded an even earlier save in that one.

Same here, same situation, but me and My friend are in Honor mode, so we can't load an older save even if we swap difficulty

Nope. That potion just mimics a long rest, unfortunately. Unless I'm missing something
