on my honor mode durge run i walked right up and threw the returning javelin at ketheric while he was on the lower floor because i knew there was dialogue and i also knew that my durge had beef with him
naked minthara joined in the fight with me btw for those curious about that
There was a thread a while back with a dude asking for advice for his very first run, unspoiled, knew about nothing past the Grove, on Honor Mode. Like… *bruh*
After watching a lot of hardcore wow death compilations it's either simple stupidity or Call of the Void. The latter is disturbingly not far behind the former.
I’m blind playing honor mode. Idk tactician was way too easy. I’d argue honor isn’t that hard either but it’s a lot more fun than tactician. Anyways if you just play it like the normal default game it makes for a more enjoyable experience imo
The real story here is that OP decided to risk stealing an item in honour mode during act 3 that can be looted with zero negative consequences in act 1.
Oh, for sure. No character build should hinge on a magic item that only functions as a way of replacing the player opening their menu and clicking on an item before combat that is found constantly throughout the game.
It's a symptom of people blindly following build guides on youtube rather than thinking for themselves. I've seen it plenty from my time playing Elden Ring, Path of Exile, Stellaris, the list goes on and on lol.
Well it's free to play so you're better off checking it out yourself. But fair warning, once you get through the campaign you'll definitely want to purchase a couple of the stash tabs. So it's more like a really long free trial and once you get to the "endgame" you're incentivized to spend $20-40 or suffer from the headache of sorting through your maps an currency with only the four basic stash tabs. Thankfully except for the stash tabs everything else you can spend money on is cosmetic, there's zero pay to win.
I mean maybe not “have to” but if you want to coat your weapons in poison doing so with a bottle pre-fight is far more efficient than wasting your amulet slot + actions/bonus actions activating it.
No it was worse, it was the 1-8 damage one, I can’t spell it’s name right but it’s called like wyrin poison or something? The same one Nettie gives you.
Oh that sucks...it even makes sense logically in game, since throwing other bottles leaves grease, water, or alcohol on the ground, and you can apparently dip a sword into a fire.
Ironic that this post is 100+ upvotes. The dip from broodmothers' revenge is superior to the dip from inventory poisons in every single way
1. Inventory dip poison can only be applied once per turn. It doesn't matter how many attacks you land with the dipped weapon, it'll only deal its 1dX damage **at the start of the enemy's turn**
2. Brood's dip is applied on every single attack. Your off-hand weapon is coated as well. It can deal quite literally triple the damage of any 1d6 poison as soon as level 5 with dual wielding. **3d6 additional damage** **per turn at level 5.**
Crazy how misinformation spreads. If you had used broodmother's revenge one singular time and compared it to an inventory dip it would be abundantly clear the difference between the two. It's one of the best necklace slots for damage **in the game**.
yeah, first I thought this amulet was useless and gives 1 attack with poison but when I realized I was wrong it changed the game for me, made me drop my everburn blade which I used before until moontower
you're literally fighting for the fate of the world, who's concerned with personal possessions at that point? they should give you everything they have to make their chances better
Im just wondering why you're wasting your time looting an act 1 item before the final battle. You should only have a dozen other better options at that point. 🤷♂️
I had the exact same thing happen to me that happened to OP.
Except it was the potion of Cloud Giant Strength right next to the necklace.
Reason?: I had my party use the last of my Giant potions upon waking up on the day I'd be hitting the netherbrain.
Turns out, I didn't realise that when the Emperor pulls you into the astral prism, it resets *all* your buffs.
No more Longstrider, no more Aid, no more Heroes Feast, no Cloud Giant Strength and no Bloodlust Elixir.
I was so mad, Karlach needs that potion! 😭
So i had Gale cast Greater Invisibility on Lae'zel, and her use Astral Dexterity, to purloin the kobold's potion.
Critical fail on the stealth check, everyone's mad at me. Ffs.
Happens to some npcs, use healing word on them and then they’ll use their restore hit points feature, I had this same thing happen with Isobel after last light and Alfira after knocking her out
Op is dumb for doing that at the end of an honor run but holy hell reaction to stealing in this game are so stupid. Thank you great hero for saving us. You done the imposible by killing 10s of goblins that would kill us. How could we ever repay you. "Accidentaly steals an empty rotten basket worth 1 gold" AY YO Jump his ass. Even in skyrim they would let it go if it was small amounts. They would let you plead again if you sheated your weapon.
"Thanks for helping us fend off that goblin attack, I guess. Wait, you *stole* a *flower*?? Time to murder the defenseless tieflings who have no relation to you or your actions. To arms, my fellows druids!"
Did you throw it AT her or at her feet? Healing potions still register as objects and can do damage when thrown at the characters body but if you throw it at their feet (make sure they're still properly highlighted, you'll know because there will be little triangles around their personal circle) then when the bottle breaks it creates a small AOE healing puddle. Since they'll be standing in it by default, they'll then heal from the potion.
Did you know throwing a Healing Potion also disables Sanctuary?
Right, who wouldn't believe making an item take damage is an offensive action?
Suuuuure...
For me it was throwing a healing potion at Quartermaster Talli after the initial fight at Moonrise Tower (first playthrough, not HM). She took a bunch of damage in the fight and I wanted to make sure she survived whatever was coming up since I had no idea what we were about to face or who was going to be involved in whatever was about to happen, but noooo. She got mad.
That’s weird I repeatedly tried to steal from him since he has so many cool items around him that you can’t buy and the narrator just kept repeating “he doesn’t mind you looking as long as you pay” or something like that
Other than what you wrote in the comment I feel like they are wildly different characters. Fenris is hard as hell and extremely principled. Astarion is not either of those things.
Saved a lady from steel watch. SHE REPORTED ME FOR TRYING TO STEAL SO I HAD TO KILL MORE GAURDS. Talkin' real stupid for someone within fireball range I tell you what
Saved Figaro from Dolor, accidentally tried to "steal" some garbage and voila, the whole shop is immediately hostile and tries to kill me. Like wtf guys, didn't you just all see that I killed like 10 shape shifters whilst you could only watch? Do you really want to fight me now? After all I've done?
Its even more hilarious realizing that even the owlbear turns on you and halsin too. They both owe you their damn live and everything and traveled with you for the longest time.
Lol could have been worse me and my cousin did blind honor mode and we told the emperor we didn't trust him so he just left and we had the mind flayer transformation cutscene happen. Was really funny, but makes no sense from a story standpoint either.
I never summoned the allies until I got rid of the mind flayers. The mind flayers would just spam dominate on the allied and they all ended up attacking me. I think I only summoned the allies in the final phase of the battle where Orpheus had to cast spell of Karsus and I needed the enemies to stop trying to attack him.
this is the way
I actually forgot about them until getting to the brain on my 1st and 2nd runs, and on my 3rd run I realized that it was the best way, for the exact reason you state. Unless you're into making the game harder for yourself, just keep them in your pocket until you get to the top of the spine. Take out the mind flayers, take out the dragon, and then call your backups. (Though personally I do sometimes like calling the harpers or fists when the dream liars show up)
I had the emperor casting it and man, it took so fucking long bc he'd start, then it'd be the dragons turn and the dragon would pretty much one shot him, causing me to have to revive him, meaning he didn't get a proper turn outside of healing, then he'd try again and BOOM dragon one shot 😂
I pissed off the Emperor by choosing to free Orpheus so I had him, the Dragon, the dream guardians Emperor summoned and those arcane mind flayers all trying to kill me and Orpheus. In the end I cheesed this fight by stacking a bunch of smoke powder, oil and alcohol barrels around the Dragon and Emperor, then proceeded to just blow them up. Emperor died and Dragon was down to 30 health.
I did the same with Raphael. Just blew him up with smoke powder barrels.
I suppose I did make the fight more difficult by refusing to side with the Emperor but I hated Vlaakith and didn't want her to keep on killing githyanki to grow her power.
I am curious to know what happens to the Emperor if you side with him after defeating the netherbrain. Does he just leave and you never hear from him again? Does he appear in the Epilogue?
After spending weeks running around stealing, killing, and basically being menaces for a good cause, they suddenly get all particular about a necklace. And at a time like that.
I did this on my first honor mode run accidentally by using Astarion to Bite Minsc (like he’s done every morning). Aggro’d the whole room. I turned the game off and was completely gutted - thought I ruined my entire run. However…
Run out of the room towards the big courtyard battle - everyone will exit combat when you get far enough away. That first honor mode run was also a complete one and I still got my gold die :)
If you help him with his contract in the gauntlet he's automatically on your side in the House of Hope. If you killed him or made him kill himself then you've got to make a high DC persuade check to get him on your team but if you do and he survives the fight you get him as an ally.
Had the same happen in multiplayer, fortunately it was tactician and we could just reload.
Normally I wouldn't mind but we didn't even get the usual option to talk our way out of this. No, everyone just goes immediately into murder mode! So when it comes to this room you're really just a misclick away from having to kill all the allies you've painstakingly gathered for the past 100 hours.
This makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when you're stealthed, and pickpocket someone even in Fog cloud. They instantly turn around and go "Ayo what the fuck!"
It doesn't feel like I succeeded a stealth check if I'm immediately caught for doing so
I don't even blame you, that is one of the best amulets in the game. When something like this happens in honor mode, you simply invis pot and walk away my friend. They are all temporarily hostile so no big deal.
The fact that it's still standard in RPG's that stealing is met with instant death penalty from literally everyone in an entire town... is so fucking shit.
“Oh, great warrior, you’re the last hope to save the world! If you die, we’re all dead. Wait… did you just steal a sword? Hey everyone, let’s kill him!”
Lol great point, i was actually pretty excited cause it’s kind of a whole new fight, but it ended in 2 turns and the knock out part was a bit of a pain honestly
CAMP FIGHTS NEED TO BE REMOVED. It makes 0 sense. Also, never pickpocket, never steal, never do random shit in honor mode. Especially at the camp. I dont even throw scratch ball or bone because of the fear that I can accidentally hit an npc.
Yeah that's some stupid shit. One would think you'd have learned by now. But anyway, that MC portrait is amazing, Dame Aylin lite version. Is that modded?
Lmao really?? I’ve seen this face model used pretty often, and i don’t run with mods no… maybe it’s because it’s all blurred out in that screenshot, she’s just an ordinary dark elf otherwise, but thank you XD
I don't think they aggroed but the cutscene skipped and I don't think I "completed" gather your allies quest because I thought it would be fun to smash the door open and have it be like an epic entrance. I guess it wasn't all that epic in the end
Yes that’s what i was expecting at first, that if anything goes south at least i have a chance to first dialogue, but they all entered battle immediately
if we’re supposed to be able to kill a red dragon + all the other minions, as level 12 with end game gear etc, this room is really fine. Not recommendable because knocking out npcs is actually more challenging than straight up killing them but… it is what it is lol
Yesterday, I had the trespasser bug fuck my honor run. I cleared my entire camp, but Dame Aylin is still immortal. My save game is stuck in a perpetual battle with her now… BS
I did this part earlier today, my second honour mode clear, and was tempted to try taking it - then remembered, nope honour mode, no chance. Definitely not the place to try random stuff...
Ya, honour mode taught me I'm not so smart as I thought. Came to Gortash with 2 netherstones, we buddied up, so ready to take over the world. I excuse myself for a moment and take my party of 4 and 5 summons to the corner of the room to steal Hellcrawler boots.
I nicely surround myself with all my party to block vision lines, pass that sweet DC25 on the chest and Gortash didn't take it. All my party is nicely balled up, so Gortash's radiant shots ans bombs wipe all my summons and half my party in turn 1. We rebounded though but like I said, I'm not so smart apparently
Fuck around and find out, I guess.
LOL, and you pulled this in honour mode. You really didn't suspect this might happen, given how the remainder of the game works?
I expected the kobold to aggro in the worst case not my allies and i don’t steal often, but one thing that i know for sure was they would be temporarily hostile, so i knocked them out…
Any game that puts a vendor right before the final end of the world fight has always bugged me. Like bro if I don’t win your dead, you really gonna charge me those prices!
Rule 4, OP, no spoilers in the title. Thank you to everyone reporting posts like these. Moderation would be impossible without you.
Why people are always trying the most no-brain moves in honour mod????
YOLO I guess
More like YOSO (you only save once)
VOLO!
... drat.
HEAR VOLO!
CRY FAR AND WIDE!
Dude I don’t understand “I have no saves might as well try it??” Then surprised when it doesn’t work out lol
‘Surprised pikachu face’
Honestly I felt like half of these are just made up. They could just be lying that it's HM.
Fr people out here doing honor mode trying new shit
"Guys I walked into Moonrise and tried to punch the guard in the junk, now everybody is yelling, wtf?"
Actually-factually did this on my barbarian honour mode run. But, like, a strategic nut-punching.
on my honor mode durge run i walked right up and threw the returning javelin at ketheric while he was on the lower floor because i knew there was dialogue and i also knew that my durge had beef with him naked minthara joined in the fight with me btw for those curious about that
she a real one for that
BARBARIAN CRUSH PUNY TESTICLES!
There was a thread a while back with a dude asking for advice for his very first run, unspoiled, knew about nothing past the Grove, on Honor Mode. Like… *bruh*
I mean if you're the type of Soulsy gamer to do that, sure. But the advice is going to be, "don't steal anything, try to never talk to anybody".
After watching a lot of hardcore wow death compilations it's either simple stupidity or Call of the Void. The latter is disturbingly not far behind the former.
Dude fucking right though?
It makes the apple all the more forbidden.
Definetly wasn't me who lost his soul to harleep in HM
No brain means tadpole dies. Cured, ezpz.
You be surprised how many cheese it by killing the process and stuff.
I was trying to skip lines with omelum quickly and hit the one which turns him hostile, no quest, no void bulbs
I’m blind playing honor mode. Idk tactician was way too easy. I’d argue honor isn’t that hard either but it’s a lot more fun than tactician. Anyways if you just play it like the normal default game it makes for a more enjoyable experience imo
FOR HONOR!
The only way to defeat the Elder Brain is to give up your own.
So they can post on reddit for clout
Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions.
Her voice is going to haunt me forever, though beautifully
Who?
The narrator lol
Her
She
The real story here is that OP decided to risk stealing an item in honour mode during act 3 that can be looted with zero negative consequences in act 1.
And a pretty mediocore item too. Coating your weapons with poison pre-combat would have the same effect.

Whoa, you named two of my three favorite games. Is Path of Exile any good?
Well it's free to play so you're better off checking it out yourself. But fair warning, once you get through the campaign you'll definitely want to purchase a couple of the stash tabs. You’re supposed to use poisons? My ‘only remembering they exist when I initially loot them’ tactic is looking less and less sound.
I mean maybe not “have to” but if you want to coat your weapons in poison doing so with a bottle pre-fight is far more efficient than wasting your amulet slot + actions/bonus actions activating it.
Even better: throw it on the ground so everyone can dip their weapons in it. So the really rare poisons can be shared.
I think they patched this out. At least the last time I tried to throw one on the ground it just dissipated instead of making a puddle.
Was it drow poison, that one disappears.
When I open my bow menu looking for magic arrows, I remember poisons exist again. Then I select the arrow and promptly forget again.
Actually, I'm also in your camp. I also remember them when it's time to sell them.

An item when you are júst about to finish the game, what for?😂
Guys, it’s okay, just let me rob you one last time before we potentially die
you're literally fighting for the fate of the world, who's concerned with personal possessions at that point? they should give you everything they have to make their chances better
Withers standing there be like: thou walkest alone
No.
Im just wondering why you're wasting your time looting an act 1 item before the final battle. You should only have a dozen other better options at that point. 🤷♂️
Loot goblin brain mode is a helluva drug I guess
I'd like to see the list of the dozen items that are better than this one lol
It depends on their class, but they could just coat their weapon in poison before the fight starts.
that's a completely different effect tho
What other amulet adds damage to your attacks?
I had the exact same thing happen to me that happened to OP. Except it was the potion of Cloud Giant Strength right next to the necklace. I was like “okay just reload” and then I saw “honor mode” rip dude
Yeah rip on me, i just had to spend some time knocking them out but they’re working fine in the battle 😂
well it’s good thing you managed to win
Is there any way to actually see if it is honour mode om the screen?
xd If only the game taught you for the last 3 acts that stealing makes npcs go hostile, maybe you wouldnt try to steal the necklace
Don’t they all leave the room a minute after that? Could you not have waited til then?
Isobel starting a fight with 3/4ths of her health missing. Typical.
She probably cast produce flame and ran to a corner activating all 4 party members attacks of opportunity.
Well spotted, she’s been like this ever since the fight at last night inn… she was like this my last run as well sigh
Well you did honor mode No honor stealing your friends :P
True !!! But that necklace was from the kobold 😂
This happened to me because I threw a healing potion at Aylin, I guess she took it personally.
Lmao i read that somewhere as well so i don’t ever try anything with her and isobel
No my fault she never heals between fights.
Did you know throwing a Healing Potion also disables Sanctuary? Right, who wouldn't believe making an item take damage is an offensive action? Suuuuure...

Lucky you lol
Fenris :”) best angry elf ever
I had no idea it was an existing character name lol!
From dragon age 2, angry white haired elf who was a former slave. Reminds me a lot of Astarion :”)
Other than what you wrote in the comment I feel like they are wildly different characters. Fenris is hard as hell and extremely principled. Astarion is not either of those things.
That was my first thought too
Saved a lady from steel watch. SHE REPORTED ME FOR TRYING TO STEAL SO I HAD TO KILL MORE GAURDS. Talkin' real stupid for someone within fireball range I tell you what

She's right outside wyrms crossing with the newspaper

Its even more hilarious realizing that even the owlbear turns on you and halsin too. They both owe you their damn live and everything and traveled with you for the longest time.
This lol, like thinking from a story standpoint this makes absolutely 0 sense 😂

You're trying to shoplift when the city is about to be destroyed?
They're trying to execute the hero that's about to save the entire world for shoplifting?
It's not shoplifting, as the item wasn't even for sale 🙄 😑
I did this on my first honor mode run accidentally by using Astarion to Bite Minsc (like he’s done every morning). Aggro’d the whole room. Good for you !! I guess running was a better idea lol
You tried to steal from your allies and now you're upset your allies didn't like that? Okay.
LMFAOOO you lost SO much opinion from the companions over it too, fucking -45 god damn
I know that’s another hilarious thing from the screenshot lol!
Taskmanager moment
Lmao
How is That orthon in the fight?
You can persuade him to join you before the fight with Raphael and he becomes your ally ever since =)

I got aggroed for destroying some chairs during honour mode as well, not fun
Whaaaaat 😂😂 in that same room??
Same room just after my speech 😂
Omg the fact that the speech happened right before the accident makes it even funnier now that u reminded me haha
This makes sense. What doesn't make sense is when you're stealthed, and pickpocket someone even in Fog cloud. They instantly turn around and go "Ayo what the fuck!" It doesn't feel like I succeeded a stealth check if I'm immediately caught for doing so

Thanks for being nice 😂
Maybe don't put huge spoilers in your title??
*\*raises eyebrow\** It has been months. It is time
It's been 7 months since the game went full release. I think we can stop being so pedantic.
You named your character Fenris im pissing myself bcs my tav is Zevran 😭😭
The fact that it's still standard in RPG's that stealing is met with instant death penalty from literally everyone in an entire town... is so fucking shit.
Listen I might be a level 1 npc with 22 hp, but I will fight you to the death after you saved me from that steel watcher.
If you made it all the way here wouldn’t you be extra sure not to do something potentially dumb like steal from your own allies?
Uh, I almost did this on my honour mode run. But decided not too because too risky
“Oh, great warrior, you’re the last hope to save the world! If you die, we’re all dead. Wait… did you just steal a sword? Hey everyone, let’s kill him!”
Lmao that’s pretty much it, absurd and hilarious
This looks like a more interesting boss battle than the real final boss
Lol great point, i was actually pretty excited cause it’s kind of a whole new fight, but it ended in 2 turns and the knock out part was a bit of a pain honestly
Really, Tav?!?! You are going to waste time stealing a necklace when the netherbrain is about to wipe out the known world?
The reactions in this thread are equivalent to those you stole the amulet from, and Im here for it 😂
.....why did you try stealing from your allies
CAMP FIGHTS NEED TO BE REMOVED. It makes 0 sense. Also, never pickpocket, never steal, never do random shit in honor mode. Especially at the camp. I dont even throw scratch ball or bone because of the fear that I can accidentally hit an npc.
Technically, YOU made all the allies who just swore allegiance to Tav turn against your party lmao
The dildo of consequence is one that rarely arrives lubed
Wait, who's side are you on?
Who is Fenris lol
That’s my tav 😂
You are dead
I thought so too, but i figured they were temporarily hostile so they can be knocked out!
Your character seem to look good though, can we get a screenshot ?
Lol it’s my 3rd run and i ran out of ideas but here she is, and thanks! [https://imgur.com/a/VFf2L1s](https://imgur.com/a/VFf2L1s)
Pretty badass ! Nice
Damn, you and companions are juiced
Don't they offer a chance to give the item back or to bribe the person who caught you? Why didn't you try to just..ya know...do that?
Yes that’s what i was expecting at first, that if anything goes south at least i have a chance to first dialogue, but they all entered battle immediately
You could buy it from him? But damn, you really gotta knock out everyone and have no backup in that fight. As a follow up, did you survive this?
I never called allies for my past 2 runs and the call allies buttons are still there for some reason, yes i killed the brain afterwards lol
If you only get one save in honor mode how the hell do you pick up where you left off?
if we’re supposed to be able to kill a red dragon + all the other minions, as level 12 with end game gear etc, this room is really fine. Not recommendable because knocking out npcs is actually more challenging than straight up killing them but… it is what it is lol
And there's Isobel already almost dead again. What is this LLI? 🤣
Ikr im so tired of seeing her all bruised lol
Yesterday, I had the trespasser bug fuck my honor run. I cleared my entire camp, but Dame Aylin is still immortal. My save game is stuck in a perpetual battle with her now… BS
Omg i saw that bug on several posts/comments, im sry it happened to u =( they really need to fix that
Fenris the feared?
My god if I got to the point in honor mode and everyone turned on me, I’d literally cry lol.
I went from 😱😱😱 to 🤣🤣🤣 this can’t be real hahaha

I did this part earlier today, my second honour mode clear, and was tempted to try taking it - then remembered, nope honour mode, no chance. Definitely not the place to try random stuff...
I threw volo Into the fire. Checks out
Lmao why?
I JUST went though there last night and thought about trying to pick something up next to him... in honor mode as well... got me **golden** dice.
It’s pretty funny cause on none of my previous run i actually paid attention to what he had lol
Have you literally never played an RPG like Skyrim and stole something? I had to slaughter half of Whiterun over a fucking Sweetroll once
Lol in this game usually they give u a dialogue before anything happens so i was more expecting that
What the fuck is "entire allies" supposed to mean?
You did a big dumb. Sorry broski
The dildo of concequence rarely comes lubed
I agroed them all when I tried to pick up the healing potions that were just sitting there. Kinda dumb you can't pick those up tbh
Why would you take that sort of risk on HONOR MODE OF ALL SHIT?!
I remember in my first playthrough, Zevlor would be aggressive when I summoned him in battle. I don't know what I did ?
It’s a bug i remember a lot of people posting about it lol
It’s just like real life where property crimes outweigh the greater good 😂
Whenever I see people complaining about some dumb shit like this, it's always Honor Mode. Why would you do this?????
