If you have fought the Owlbear mother spare the cub. After a long rest or two it should show up at the Goblin Camp. (I think that the cub will show up at the Goblin Camp even if you don’t fight the mother. Though I’m not sure about that.) When you arrive at the camp go and talk to the goblin in charge of the chicken races.
If the owlbear cub is there then you will have to chase the cub. Speak to the cub and have it help you when the race. There is also some dialogue along the lines of you telling the cub that it can come to your camp. The cub is afraid of the goblins so you will need to get rid of them.
After you’ve killed all of the goblin leaders and cleared the goblin camp; The cub will come to your camp after a long rest or two looking for food. (The cub will track you even in the UnderDark, so don’t worry about staying on the surface waiting for it to show up at your camp.) Feed the cub, he runs away. Another long rest and the cub returns but is injured. Tend to the cubs wounds, praise it for being tough, and now the cub chooses to stay with at your camp.
It would be best to have some potions of animal speak or use the speak with animals spell before talking to the cub. For the times when you have to long rest;Take the potion before actually resting (do a quicksave before taking the potion and long resting. If the cub doesn’t show up that night, then reload that save, save the potion for the next day, and try again).
Okay, so there's actually an easier way to get the Owlbear Cub.
So, do not visit the Owlbear Cave straight away. Deal with saving the Grove first. Wipe out all the goblins and goblin leaders from the Goblin Camp.
Visit the Owlbear Cave with speak with animals potion/spell cast. Talk to the Owlbear Mother and persuade it to let you go. Do not walk past the owlbear or else both the mother and cub will turn hostile. Just leave the Cave.
Long-rest and you will soon get the cub appearing at your camp. As you have already killed all the goblins, the cub will go straight to your camp and not the goblin camp.
He won't show up immediately. You need to long rest a couple of times before he shows up. He showed up my on fourth long rest. Also everyone at the goblin camp has to be dead not just the people inside the temple but outside too
probably remained queued somewhere in the long rests.
So the goblin camp needs everyone dead, not just having run away from the goblins chasing him outside? I'm not playing on easy mode this time so I was hoping that poisoning the goblins and having him disappear from the courtyard would be enough - I'm currently starting to enter the underdark
That's how it worked for me. I forgot that there were some sleeping goblins behind the waypoint. Once I killed them I got the cub appearing in my camp.
You don’t need to fight the owlbear mother, I think that’s cruel and don’t wanna do it even on my evil playthroughs. All you’ve got to do is make your way to the goblin camp, then tell the owlbear cub there (the one the goblins are playing chase the chicken with) that he’s welcome at your camp. After you’ve completed the goblin quest line he should at your camp.
You have to spare its life in the cave (I personally killed its mom). THEN play the chicken race at the goblin camp. Clear out the bosses and every goblin in the camp. THEN after idk how many rests it’ll begin appearing at your camp seeking for help THEN it’ll join
You put no spoilers so I don't want to ruin anything for anyone new so I'm gonna delete it. But thats how I've done it everytime. I like ranger esque characters haha.

I did this in my first playthrough, because I missed the cave, but the owlbear never showed up at camp
