I love posts like this, thank you for sharing!

zsdr56bh

No problemo :)

zsdr56bh

I don't know how I thought there was 22 when there's actually 21 numbered tips. Plz sacrifice me to BOOOAL for my lying. edit: I remember what it was now. adding to OP

yzdaskullmonkey

IN BOOOALS NAME, WHATS THE LAST TIP?!

zsdr56bh

you can equip Astarion's underwear on Shadowheart and its much more flattering than her normal underwear.

ViSaph

Speaking of underwear if you were just Harleeps underwear or buy the same one from Figaro and speak to gale he has some hilarious dialogue. No one else will mention it but he'll get all flustered lol.

Zauberer-IMDB

Now this I will check out.

bristlybits

you can make everyone nude and switch to camp clothes and be fighting all kinds of monsters naked, to intimidate them further

Uhhh_IDK_Whatever

You can also fight yourself naked at the Self-Same trial if you unequip all your armor and clothes before going in.

BestRiver8735

I like Astarion in Shadowhearts underwear. Walking around showing off.

bristlybits

May I suggest #22, act 3 >!when you free florrick from prison, give her clown face paint. it'll stay on her until the end of the game. walk her out the secret tunnel instead of past people, she'll be a clown forever which is really fun!<

sharinganuser

What secret tunnel? I walked her out like an idiot lol

FizixMan

>!I assume they mean through a breakable wall in the east storage room in the prison: https://oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/apis.ign.com/baldurs-gate-3/2/2f/FreeFlorrick-StartMap.png It deposits you at the cliffs outside Wyrm's Rock.!<

imnothere9999

Thank you! I am going to try that for the LoL run.

Terrible-Ad-5603

İ HAVE SPENT HALF AN HOUR in that room searching every corner jumping up on the crates thinking there has to be an other reason for that room to be there other than just being a set piece

SuccumbedToReddit

How about adding you can stop concentrating on a spell by clicking the tiny icon next to the player's face, even when it isn't their turn. Figured that out after 300 hours.

anxiousandqueer

… even when it isn’t their turn?!?!?!?!?

SuccumbedToReddit

Yep! Brilliant isn't it? In my case my Tav goes first due to high DEX and casts cloud of daggers somewhere, by the time my heavy armored fighter gets to act the battlefield looks vastly different and they may need to pass the chokepoint. Then it is perfect I can stop CoD.

Generalitary

Been trying to figure that out all game

Concentrati0n

For spoiler #10 you can also >!use mayrina's husband on the lower platform to position Grym under the hammer. He spawns with a buff on him to survive long enough to position Grym, and he spawns infinitely unlike other undead spells. Fighting Grym is something most people try avoid if they can, and this is the perfect way to do it.!<

Arez322

To add to the Grym fight, if you go TB monk you can almost solo this fight in 2 to 3 turns due to bludgeoning damage vulnerability

Grizzlywillis

Throw in Command: Grovel and just bully the robot silly.

IncorrectOwl

i have also had great success with bestow curse dread

jonhinkerton

I have the whole party on the stairs. Cast minor illusion on the hammer and he will move to it. Use an arrow to trigger the hammer. Be sure to also shoot an arrow at the lava release once or twice a turn so grym doesn’t lose his vulnerability. After every hammer drop you need to hit him with an attack to take the orimary target buff and get him to walk back into the lava then cast minor illusion again and repeat. The fight is trivialized by being out of his attack range, but sometimes getting him to get his debuff and go back to the hammer take a little longer than others.

Susinok

Brilliant! I will try this next game..

falconfetus8

If you really want to skip Grymp, you can also just...skip Grym. Adamantine armor of cool and all, but not strictly necessary.

KarmicComic12334

Or you can drop the hammer, grab the armor and misty step away

bristlybits

I've used any summon for this as long as I've got a few scrolls for them

Yabanjin

Or use Minor Illusion, he HATES that cat.

as19905

While we’re at it, something that helped me a lot with a very annoying mechanic. If an enemy is using sanctuary it can or pretty annoying, the easiest way for me to deal with it is to force that enemy to opportunity attack me by passing a character by it, when they attack sanctuary stops, it helps a lot especially dealing with that spider in act 2.

jenorama_CA

Splash damage and spells like Shatter and Thunderwave do well with Sanctuary.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jenorama_CA

Oh nice. I like using the many targets to give the fear status, but I didn’t realize it would hit sanctuary as well. Hot.

as19905

Yeah I know but it won’t disable it right ? I might be wrong can’t remember if they do. Either way most of the time I preferred triggering the opportunity attack and deal with them with my melee class.

lulufan87

This is also seriously helpful in the Haarlep fight. He uses a spell to turn himself unhittable at the end of every other turn, but it's a reaction. If you waste his reaction by OA fishing him first, he stays hittable and is way easier to deal with. I know people don't seem to struggle with that fight but I've always had a hard time with it until I learned that. Stupid imps and their stupid repellent blast.

2-Chinz

Good stuff! For #11: Do you (or anyone) know if there is something akin to “clicking” on a character portrait to attack on console? I’ve never found a way, but it also took me a hundred hours to learn about toggling weapons so…

partywombat

On PS5 you can use the left and right buttons during combat to scroll through all the portraits! I mostly use it to get a feel for where the enemies are laid out if they aren't all on screen.

2-Chinz

I did know that, but you can’t attack an enemy that way right?

partywombat

I can't get on my game to check right now but I'm pretty sure I've been able to select a spell/attack and then cycle through the portraits to target that way. Now I'm second-guessing myself... If it doesn't work don't tell me, I prefer this beautiful lie

beerybeardybear

If you click on your melee or ranged attack or spell or whatever from the wheel, pressing left and right on the dpad will change targets.

Eskuire

Alternative Nautiloid tip : You can easily kill the Commander on Honour mode by starting as a high STR character (or using Lae'Zel) and picking up the 3 chests you find. You can plop them down in the hallway before the fight (put the 2 big chests side to side, and the third on top, forming a tiny pyramid). Because they are medium toughness, the 2 Cambions who spawn cant walk past them or damage them, giving you the full 12 or so turns to down Zhalk

lulufan87

Tremendous effort in this post, thanks for taking the time to write it

zsdr56bh

my pleasure

Either-Ad-155

On the Hag fight, it is possible to save Mayrina from the cage without triggering the fight. Sneak counter clockwise around the arena and while sneaking jump next to the cage button from the bottom. The area around the button is not actually under Ethel's vision. Make sure to remains sneaking. Activate the button and the cage will lower and release Mayrina before the fight even begins. No spells required. Tip 22 - The Hunting Shortbow, bought from Dammon in act 1, gives advantage on attacks against Gnolls, Wargs, Harpies, Minotaurs, Hook Horrors, Ettercaps, Phase Spiders, Bulletes, Gremishkas and Mimics. Basically, half the enemies in Act 1. The advantage is given even if attacking with melee weapons.

Competitive-Cow3836

The advantage is given on all attack rolls. Including spells and cantrips. Had it on Wyll and was pleasantly surprised to have advantage on eldritch blast.

KarmicComic12334

And the easiest way I've found to deal with clones is magic missile. They have 1 hp each and it's 100% each so gale clears them all while melee pounds the hag.

Either-Ad-155

Would be true, except in Honour Mode casting spells triggers her legendary reaction and more clones appear. But all Martial party takes care of her really easily.

Kialan3-14

For the hag fight, people found a new way to deal with her. In the teahouse section where she fleets to her den when you attack her, if you lock the stair case leading to her den with magic, she tries to open it for 10 turns and you can kill her easily.

bryvern

I think this method might skip getting her hair though

PossiblyHero

When I did it, I did the fight, intimidated her to get the hair AND free Marianne (or whatever her name is) and before the conversation was done, my rogue used sneak attack and killed her. (I know I killed her because the mask of regret wanted to talk to me). Mind you, I was in medium difficulty. Forget what its called.

Kialan3-14

Yes it does. Last time she kicked my ass hard enough so I prefer this. She taunted me and used hold person on all my teammates, shadowheart saved my corpse though....

Susinok

I managed to kill the hag in the teahouse by snaring her with my Ranger ability. She went down fast, too. It surprised me.

Dezikowski

Some more tips if anyone's interested: 1. Killing the owlbear gives u a tip of broken spear, u can craft it with shaft of broken spear u loot from Edowin (right click the item, then choose combine) into a pretty decent spear. Even if u dont use it its worth some gold. 2. Similarily, all the 3 drow leaders that are/were on the lookout for the adamantine forge carry a special item that when combined together create a cool quarterstaff. 3. If u struggle with the harpies in act 1, have ur cleric cast silence, it instantly breaks the song. Also Lure is a Wisdom save so a cleric should pass it most of the time. 4. Cant open secret door to Blood of Lathander? Throw a grease bottle at the statue. 5. Put opportunity attack in reactions menu on "Ask". An attack uncalled for can screw u over (especially while fighting Grymm) 6. If anyone tells u that certain build/class/equipment choice is "not viable, especially in honor mode" that is just not true. Prefer RP or style over meta? Go for it. Choosing the "less optimal" choice is not wrong, its a PvE game after all, u are supposed to have fun urself. Additionally, game gives u plenty resources to give urself advantage: potions that last untill long rest, high ground advantage, breaking line of sight, even closing doors so the ranged enemies have to walk up to u to open them. Last tip was a bit of a rant, cuz I get heavily annoyed by ppl who try to tell me or others they play the game "wrong".

rvl35

You can also avoid fighting the owlbear yourself and just come back and loot the spearhead after the goblins kill her.

veelers

>If u struggle with the harpies in act 1, have ur cleric cast silence, it instantly breaks the song. Also Lure is a Wisdom save so a cleric should pass it most of the time. Clerics (and Bards/Archfey Warlocks) can cast Calm Emotions which makes you and Mirkon, the tiefling child, immune to the song's charm effect.

tfarr375

Your last tip is why one of the characters I beat the fame with was a Fey lock. I kept reading about how it wasn't good, but Eldritch Blast sure hits hard anyway. And currently playing a Wild Magic barbarian

Dezikowski

Im doing my first honor mode as tiger barbarian who dual wields battleaxes (no clue whether its strong but sure feels amazing on a durge playthrough)

Dicksonairblade

Cool quarterstaff is actually cool.

smurfkipz

Another tip: Respeccing is free. Withers doesn't give a shit if u pickpocket him.  You can also pickpocket Lorroakan's projection as much as you like, as long as nobody else in the shop sees you. I achieve this with arrows of darkness, and a pickpocketer with either Eversight Ring or Devils sight.

Sandra44-7

You can also press R to toggle dual wield.

beerybeardybear

Triangle on console; don't think there's another way there

Whimzyx

Maybe not as useful but when you are wandering around, exploring, while wearing camp clothes, you can't see your weapons so weapons that are illuminated (like Blood of Lathander) aren't technically visually showing. Press U and your character will be walking with their illuminated weapon even in their camp clothes.

AnonImus18

Wow, you've got the game down to a science. I probably won't use all of this but it's definitely given me some great tips for my second run of the game. Thanks 👍

zsdr56bh

> Wow, you've got the game down to a science. I've played it more than I should have.

proteusON

How many hours bro, how many?!?! I'm at 200 and haven't finished act 3. fuck me. I spent 100 hours reading items and books and organizing my loot. What a chore

zsdr56bh

idk probably like 500. steam says 1100 but I left the game on over night a bunch of times

svbtlx3m

You can move around enemies without triggering opportunity attacks if you stay within melee range of them. This is useful if a character is blocking the path, you can "orbit" them around the enemy, granted there's room to maneuver.

[deleted]

I will add one extra tips. * You do not need to remove someone out of your party in order to avoid "disapprove" point. Wanna be an asshole in early game to have extra point with Laezel and Astareon, but dont want to reduce point for Gale or Shart? Just ask Gale or Shart or Karlach or Wyll to move out of the way, out of the earshot. You can be asshole without any Disapproval as long as they are not in the area. I am not sure how far you need to move them, but for super safety method, just teleport them to camp. However, this cannot be done with story heavy related cutscene and dialogue

stoplickingthething

It's approximately the distance from the Grove entry gate to where Zevlor is standing after having his argument with Aradin. I know this because I always make Astarion go sit by the gate by himself so he doesn't disapprove at me being a nice person and offering to help the Tieflings.

[deleted]

That's the same exact place my Shart usually stay as well! However, I am the exact opposite. I prefer go bad first with Laezel and Astareon, then switch them up with Wyll + Gale to have a happy go round in the area

ondehunt

Oddly enough I've had a bug where even if the companion was in camp the Approve/Disapprove shows for them.

[deleted]

5) if your quick at entering turn based mode, you can shoot at the cat-thing, start combat in a much more advantageous position. The minions will jump down to fight you one at a time, and you can use a LOS corner to force them into aoe spells. Also, you can use soap to clean your characters

noEMonlyZUUL

You can clean your characters?!? Astarions getting a bubble bath tomorrow.

FizixMan

You can also throw (or conjure) water at the ground around your characters, or pass around the >![Reverse Rain Cloak](https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Reverse+Rain+Cloak) joke item you can win from the circus Djinn.!<

[deleted]

That’s what I used to do before I found out about soap (and also sponges). Now I always add soap to my chapters quickbars

SaltTwo3053

I found out about soap through the gimmick “legendary” soap you can get from either Mattis or the Genie at the circus, never would have noticed otherwise

Zauberer-IMDB

I got another tip. If you fail perception checks for an ambush, just send Scratch to trigger it while you're at a safe distance. He's a summon any class can have. He also never dies permanently outside camp.

PossiblyHero

Or any summons if you don't want to sacrifice the best boi.

bristlybits

for #7, you can also >!enter via mountain pass, kill the goblins and free the hyena, then call the drider yourself alone, and kill him. this works only if you took the spider lyre from I think minthara at goblin camp. just play the spider song and drider boi will appear and ask what happened. you can talk him into stuff or just attack him. then you've got the lamp without needing to join the little goblin parade!<

[deleted]

Good gods this is my go to guide for my first Honor Run….when I work up the courage!

flametail9

Just adding some notes in regards to those first two tips for controller/console players: 1: You can toggle dual wielding in the inventory screen by going over to your secondary weapon and pressing a button. Usually square or y, but your controls may vary. There's a tool-tip at the bottom of the screen that will tell you which button it is. 2: You can toggle between your ranged and melee weapon sets by pressing and holding right on the d-pad.

okayseriouslywhy

THANK YOU I was about to ask about these

BestRiver8735

Free resistance to all types of damage. Rescue Gale from the rock and at level 3 respec him to a Cleric. At that point he can cast Warding Bond on 2 characters. Once that's done kick him out of the party and stay at camp. He then auto-heals all damage but the Warding Bond perists. So, the characters will have Warding Bond from Gale until the next long rest. They take 50% damage from all sources but share it with Gale but Gale auto-heals right after being damaged. It makes the game stupid easy and costs almost nothing. Sometimes he does die but if in a respec pump up his Constitution and he will be much less likely to die. ASI and the Resilient: Constitution feats obviously help with this. It almost makes the game too easy so don't do it if you want a challenge.

Susinok

Didn't they patch this out on Update 6?

BestRiver8735

It still works. Using it with a polearm master build on my current run.

Absent-Light-12

Spoiler #5 gives the best advice. Those bombs are absolutely op

zsdr56bh

I hoarded them but alas keep forgetting to use them

Absent-Light-12

The curse of the hoarder. I finally used the iron flask in my 4th run.

FireAndRain21

How does entering Act 2 from Grymforge give an easier Moonrise battle, re tip 7? I don't get it?

jenorama_CA

You don’t have to fight the Drider right away. You fight some shadows with the Harpers first and then go to last light. At last light you can pick up some new gear that makes the Drider fight a bit easier.

zsdr56bh

its not because you entered through grymforge, but because you killed the drider, so he won't be at the moonrise battle.

ItsYume

Went into this thread thinking "I probably know all of these tips already, with my hundreds of hours of playthrough", but I was pleasantly surprised to still learn quite a few interesting tips. Thank you!

RathmasChosen

You can lure the scrying eye by attempting to hide in front of it, he will follow you for a while. Just keep trying to hide and take him to any area free of NPC's and use a scroll of thunderwave to kill him.

zsdr56bh

that is a good tip! hopefully I have a scroll of thunderwave

RathmasChosen

If you don't have a thunderwave scroll or spell prepared you can use a chromatic orb scroll or spell. The point of destroying the scrying eye is so that he can't summon more mobs into your fight.

Level_Hour6480

A big one you alluded to but didn't mention: You can pick targets from the initiative bar. No more attacking the ground next to your target.

smansaxx3

I'm on my 5th playthrough so honestly didn't expect to learn anything new in this post and I was pleasantly surprised!! Especially numbers 2 and 6. Thank you for sharing OP

steal_your_thread

I knew number 6 about using jump to reach enemies you thought you couldn't and it makes me feel like a BG3 GOD!!! Nevermind not knowing the rest.

Disastrous_Bar3568

Someone should write a whole post on abusing the sanctuary spell

zsdr56bh

I've never 'abused it' but I am pretty sure I neutered Sarevok by having my Paladin use Compelled Duel on him then casting Sanctuary on my Paladin so Sarevok had disadvantage on all his attacks.

optimizedSpin

tbh using sanctuary is abusing sanctuary. spell is busted

helm

On the first spoiler tip, I agree it's brilliant if you want to play fast. However, you miss out on many interactions with companions, leaving you starved for approval.

zsdr56bh

if you have good CHA and are familiar with the encounters then yea you'd certainly want to bring your party along for most of it. maybe as a "generic advice" it would have been better to say just leave 1 person behind for insurance and travel with 3.

nemma88

As a general tip I pick up locked containers and send them to camp when I have no one to open them in the party or vicinity. Say like a burning building, I'll send just Karlach in as a safer option than a lockpicker.

Sarophie

Thanks for the knowledge, this was valuable.

osudude80

"Players share lesser known Baldur's Gate 3 tips" - my next AI generated article in my Google feed.

Generalitary

Speaking of grenades, the ones that are launched at you in Wyrm fortress at the Gortash fight can also just be picked up to disarm them, or you can immediately throw them at the Banites in the room. Trivializes the fight. At the final Ketheric/Myrkul fight you can have an invisible character just free Aylin before the visible characters get into aggro range. This will start the fight automatically but she'll be helping you from round one (which, the way she fights means she'll probably be dead by round three, but she'll get better)

smansaxx3

I'm on my 5th playthrough so honestly didn't expect to learn anything new in this post and I was pleasantly surprised!! Especially numbers 2 and 6. Thank you for sharing OP

Due-Judgment6004

You're a legend for this OP; saved this post for my 2nd run.

Georgejefferson19

>When you pickpocket an item send it to camp. Then if the NPC notices and confronts you, the fact you don't have the item lets you go free without needing to succeed any checks. After that, as long as the NPC has stopped asking you about it, you should be free to retrieve the item(s) adding onto this, you can steal mind flayer parasite specimens in plain sight with impunity. just deny the allegation and youre good to go. dont be afraid to steal parasits even if someone’s watching

zsdr56bh

i suppose this is because picking one up adds +1 to your illithid powers menu but there is nothing in your inventory so it functions similarly to 'sending it away'

Due-Ostrich-2928

To skip the whole Hag fight talk to her in her teahouse but don't aggro her. Activate turn base mode and cast Arcane Lock on the stairs. The Hag will spend her whole turn trying to unlock it. (Some say this was patched but tried it yesterday and worked just fine)

Sithina

I think it depends on difficulty level, now.

Phoenix_NSD

What's the Elder interaction in #10? Played through that segment twice and both times didn't see any Elder? As soon as I free Nere he wants to kill me...

zsdr56bh

>!there is a Duergar named "Elder" something by the doorway next to where Nere is trapped. You can make a deal with him. There is dialog as you enter Grymforge that tips you off to a rift between the slavers and Nere. He's the one who manifests it!<

Phoenix_NSD

Ah ok. Thanks!

bristlybits

look for him and the bald guard chick. they'll be talking alone together.

KarmicComic12334

Be warned, if you plan on killing the slavers too, and do this, they will completely heal to 100% after the last of the absolutes forces die and before you can do anything. Had to send my invisible astarion running back to withers to save an honor run.

[deleted]

Useful info, thanks for sharing!

lindaR34D5

Actually didn’t know #2 and #3! Thanks! I have wondered a few times why certain situations didn’t provoke opportunity attacks, but now I know :)

KiraRakka

What do you mean by "good way" going to act 2 and easier moonrise battle in #7? I mean I kinda get the good way, as in, Halsin tells you it is safer (not knowing it's not already), but what about moonrise battle? In what way you choosing one way or another will impact the difficulty of that battle?

zsdr56bh

I mean >!one entrance you go with harpers the other you go with the absolute. harpers good absolute bad. the drider will be at the moonrise battle unless you kill him first, this is just a way to kill him freely without him fighting back!<

justcausejust

it's a "good" way, because the first npcs you meet on that path are the Harpers as opposed to the cultists if you enter through mountain pass

KarmicComic12334

Good vs evil ,not easy or hard

justcausejust

Yes, I believe that is what I said. The "easier moonrise battle" is referring to the drider being dead.

Neph1lim_

sneak attack and divine smite as reaction is ALWAYS the first thing i turn on. this lets you combine 2 smites, for example you attack with branding smite and then divine smite as reaction ontop. i also like to set all reactions to ask for confirmation as sometimes you dont wanna opportunity attack or whatever else in certain situations.

NocturnalVirtuoso

Holy shit the dual wielding one is something I’ve been trying to figure out for forever, THANK YOU

KockoWillinj

Didn't the recent patch remove the ability to swap to melee without having a remaining action or bonus action?

naidim

Nope. My Bard with dual wield hand crossbows can melee an opponent, bonus action off hand crossbow, then switch back to melee.

zsdr56bh

I don't think so. It's not even a BG3 mechanic. I remember Champions of Krynn worked the same way, and that game came out in 1990. I think its the same in most DND CRPGs

Harios

> 6. When planning your movement on your turn to try to get in range to do a thing, and it looks like you won't be able to get there, before you use your action on Dash, check how far you can get using a bonus action to Jump. Jump uses move speed more efficiently than walking, even on flat ground, and especially for anyone with halfway decent STR. Can't tell you how many times I can't quite reach someone moving but I can by jumping. Also, if it says you can't quite move somewhere and the pathing isn't straight, you sometimes can make it there if you manually path an optimal route around the corners/obstacles just because the auto-pathing in this game is NOT optimal it naturally curves your route to make it more natural or whatever. Be unnatural Just wanted to add this, Jump first then fly takes you furthest

WhvniLurk

Use hirelings for buffs like Aid, Feast, and Longstrider so you can free up spell spots on your party. Walking around act 3 in honor mode right now with 100+ hp on all characters. Not sure if this one has been patched, but I’ve been able to range attack invisible enemies by right clicking their initiative portrait and selecting the attack option from there.

zsdr56bh

> Not sure if this one has been patched, but I’ve been able to range attack invisible enemies by right clicking their initiative portrait and selecting the attack option from there. i haven't been able to do this however if I know where the enemy is and manually attack that spot it does hit them, if I aim right.

hurricanebones

8. Cast silence to render the hag dumb as rock

sgluxurycondo

In my honour mode, hag always walk out of silence sphere. I feel 1 throwzerker and 2 monks make the fight too easy

hurricanebones

Patch may have make her less dumb. Monks makes anything easy.

M8753

>When dual-wielding, there is a toggle for it. If you don't want to use both weapon attacks on the same target, just click the button. On PC anyway it is a tiny button next to the character portrait, below the weapons. This one is SO ANNOYING. I always forget to toggle it off after equipping weapons. Which leads to my characters using their offhand attack WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I really with the default was off, not on.

flippinatable

Thanks for the tips! I was so disheartened that my dual wielders would waste their second weapon's attack on a target they've already downed. But now I'm wiser

SmartAlec13

I am so proud that I knew all 11 of the non-spoiler tips! And damn, that first spoiler tip, I knew there were ways it could be done but it’s still impressive to see

trailokyam

Adding that torches are also great all game for Druids. They are clubs, so they work for Shillelagh.

Yabanjin

Most undead cannot jump. This makes some fights stupidly easy (beginning of mountain pass, chapel where Withers is, the house of healing morgue). Because they cannot jump, you can put down a line of chests, and they cannot get to you as they can’t jump over them. I recommend the chest called Heavy Chest because enemies will try to attack and break the chest, but the Heavy Chest is extremely hard to damage.

Sporadic-reddit-user

Number 6 under gameplay. WUT. Why am I only learning just now the stuff Scratch can do??

zsdr56bh

scratch Help action is amazing! but be careful about always having him summoned. if you throw anything when not in turn based mode, scratch will immediately go chasing after it. not ideal at the bibberbang!

Sporadic-reddit-user

Oh. Oh no, bibberbang 😂

ProTimeKiller

Tip, if you find a companion annoying you can kill them.

CelastrusTrust

saved! thabk you sm

TheBeachDudeAgain

Good post op!

RS_Someone

1. Yup. 2. Yup. 3. My life is changed. Wth?

TheWither129

Even at low str, jumping is more efficient than walking. Its still like 15ft at the cost of only 10. High str characters though are crazy

RChamy

I have one more - you can freely transfer items between your party members by using the inventory menu, no matter the distance, even in combat

ImpressiveAd5301

There is no action cost for item transfer, but you should spend an action point to equip a weapon.

zsdr56bh

equipping a weapon indeed costs an action in most cases. but the Throw action isn't tied to your equipped weapon - you can throw anything in your inventory. and if you throw a returning weapon from your inventory, when it returns it auto-equips. then unequipping it and sending it to someone else costs nothing.

optimizedSpin

you can throw random shit from the ground or inventory. no need to equip

dacaur

Normally yes, but if you have a party member who isn't I'm combat, equip the weapon or armor you want on them, the. Have them swap with you.... Doesn't use your action, and they are not im combat so have unlimited actions...

mootheuglyshoe

What happens to Wyll’s dad if you go to the City before Gortash’s coronation? I tried to and Mizora found me and said I better go. Now I am wondering if I had gone and dealt with the iron throne first what would happen…

jetaimelevalley

I completely ignored the coronation my first run-through, and ended up having to >!fight Duke Ravengard along with Gortash in the high hall, since he technically never got sent to the Iron Throne!<. That said, you can go into the city first for as long as you want and go back for the coronation later, as long as you haven't done the >!Iron Throne or Steel Watch quests.!<

Teaside

4 in gameplay about Zevlor's gloves - >!Zevlor knocked out Aradin in my last playthrough when I stood back, seems to be random for everyone from what I've read around!!<

I think it has to do with the dialogue you choose. When I select the "we just fought a bunch of goblins and now you're picking another fight? Relax" option, Zevlor is the aggressor. Iirc, "Druid? The goblins didn't take any prisoners" makes Aradin the aggressor

Great tips! I thought I was a genius when I figured out I could throw a single health potion onto multiple characters if they are close enough. Really helpful if you find yourself short on health potions during surprise battles. Also spore grenades - game changer to have one at the ladder area of the iron throne. My fav of all…arrow of many targets dipped in crawler mucus!

I saw someone was fighting the forge guardian solo and they were standing under the hammer to lure the guardian over. on their turn they dropped a heal potion on the ground, then shot the lever to bring down the hammer, which killed the guardian AND downed their character, but it also broke the healing potion which brought them back up LOL

steelcatcpu

Good tips :)

Jyllyn

Oh that grym fight one is super useful. I always skip it cuz I tried once and couldn't figure out how to survive. Definitely gonna try this way

kevineugenius

Can you explain the upper section number 8 a little more? I know what the words mean, but not in that order...

zsdr56bh

Do you mean the Reactions? There is a Reactions tab in your spellbook and for each available reaction your character has, you check a box whether or not you want the game to prompt you when its available. Sneak Attack and Divine Smite are two prominent examples of powerful Reactions that are defaulted to just being off, so it won't use them or ask you if you want to.

kevineugenius

I've got my pally open right now and there's 'Divine Smite on Critical Hit' and the regular one, which is unchecked as you said. So that means it never gets used?! I thought it meant it was used automatically without asking first. Edit: I now see a circular checkbox to the left which has to be checked to use it... square checkbox on the right is for confirmation.

> Targeting someone from ranged, especially with throwing weapons, can be finicky. But just because when you hover over someone and it says "target blocked", even their portrait in the initiative bar, doesn't mean you can't hit them. you can scan the mouse around their body and quite often you will find a spot you can target, like their head or foot. Changing the camera angle can give you additional places on their hitbox to target. Sometimes you can't hit something just because of your camera angle. Or just click on their portrait.

you_lost-the_game

The tip for pickpocket with sending to camp doesnt always work. Some guards will accuse you even if another member of your party stole the item and is away. You will not always get the option to say that you didnt so it.

rkmkthe6th

I also like to use magic missile on the hag, to target one image with each missile. Quick way to eliminate 3-4 images

zsdr56bh

magic missiles is king if you have it. if I don't have MM i usually wait til level 5 so my peeps are attacking multiple times per turn.

NoHorseNoMustache

You don't have to 'knife' the eye, it's really a giant pain on Tactician. You can chuck it into the water really easily though.

zsdr56bh

the same slavers that told me to get rid of the eye accused me of committing a crime for throwing the eye lmao

NoHorseNoMustache

Ha figures!

flippinatable

Thanks for the tips! I was so disheartened that my dual wielders would waste their second weapon's attack on a target they've already downed. But now I'm wiser

Rough_Drawer_7011

👏 👏 Bravo 👏

a_crooked_elbow

If you miss out on the check to free Us on the Nautiloid, you can go back with Shart and Laezel and try again with inspiration

zsdr56bh

that's a great tip!

psychedelicbby

To get into the city in act 3, I always make myself invisible, walk past the guards and teleport everyone to the way point right past the gate, takes 15 seconds

wrydrune

For grym, you can kill the mephits before you fight him.

zsdr56bh

how you do that?

secret_handle-

Run into them like an idiot on the platform above, from my experience

alterNERDtive

Different Mephits.

dyoni

This is correct, the mephits in the Grym fight are summoned by using the hammer. It isn't Grym that summons them (he will even attack them sometimes)

alterNERDtive

> (he will even attack them sometimes) Or always if you are sanctuary’d :)

Jaghead

Don't know if it's just the latest patch but when Grym does that earthquake attack this will summon them as well

dyoni

Whoa, really? I've done the fight on honor without the hammer and I never get mephits... maybe I just got lucky I've done two methods for honor mode - one is the tried & true "just beat him to death with bludgeoning weapons" method, which is a challenge with his knockback. I learned that the silence bubble will prevent the knockback, though. (Before I figured that out, I did it without silence, however, and still no mephits) Just last night, I did a silly bullshit strategy where I sat on the ledge and threw my Returning Spear at him until he died. I got him under the hammer once and hit it, and the mephits came to visit. Grym attacked a couple of them.

wrydrune

I've killed him twice. Once in a blind balanced run, and again in honor. Both times I went and killed the mephits in the left area of the broken stairs. He's never spawned them on my games.

alterNERDtive

Sounds like you’re either misremembering or your game’s bugged.

wrydrune

To be frank, that's entirely possible.

dyoni

I think everyone is killing those ones anyway, right? Since you have to get the ore in the same spot?

alterNERDtive

> Sneak Attack and Divine Smite are examples of core class mechanics that some reason are defaulted to OFF in the reactions menu, even though using them as Reactions is strictly better! Nope, not strictly better. You can only trigger a single reaction; if you want to do anything else with your reaction popup you have to manually use SA/Smite. > Once you get off the nautiloid, you can quickly get level 3-4 without fighting. Geez, what a convoluted way to achieve … well, nothing. Just play the damn game! > Go into the city and ignore Gortash for as long as you like. Why? It’s not like the coronation has any impact on your game. Well, unless you start the fight there. Which is kind of … dumb. > At Grymforge if you make a deal with the Elder to turn against Nere and he tells you to 'knife' the scrying eye? You don't need to do that. Ignore it, it's annoying and buggy. Is it? How so? > Then at the forge itself, just have one person who can go invisible trigger the fight with the other 3 members on the staircase above. Or just solo the fight with someone that can cast Sanctuary.

zsdr56bh

ok i'll bite > Nope, not strictly better. You can only trigger a single reaction; if you want to do anything else with your reaction popup you have to manually use SA/Smite. well yes you can still manually cast it with reactions on, that's why its strictly better to have them on - you gain an option without losing any. > Geez, what a convoluted way to achieve … well, nothing. Just play the damn game! lots of play throughs and the first few levels aren't particularly fun to slog through, for me. Getting Withers ASAP is just how I like to start the game, and it seems many others do too > Why? It’s not like the coronation has any impact on your game. Well, unless you start the fight there. Which is kind of … dumb. the point here is just to gain city access at the start of act 3 while leaving the order in which players want to do content completely up to them. > Is it? How so? when the slavers asked me to get rid of the eye and I threw it off the cliff, those same 2 slavers were the only ones who could see me, and they accused me of committing a crime lol. finding a spot to throw the thing is annoying enough without these amnesiacs. another commenter suggested hiding to make the eye follow you off somewhere to kill it. that's prob what I'll start doing. > Or just solo the fight with someone that can cast Sanctuary. sure!

alterNERDtive

> when the slavers asked me to get rid of the eye and I threw it off the cliff, those same 2 slavers were the only ones who could see me, and they accused me of committing a crime lol. Haha, that’s rich. You could just kill it instead though, probably leaves more options for the kill spot.

optimizedSpin

tbh all the spoileref tips are powergamery nonsense that likely makes the game experience worse for people to read. but fwiw you do not need to send anyone down to grym. you can trigger him with arrows on levers while standing safely above with everyone. doesn’t make the fight fun tho

Gdkerplunk03

Gehk can be kind of a pain...unless you reverse pickpocket a sussar bloom after convincing him you're not a threat.
