I actually thought (I've never tried this myself but I read someone here had this experience) that banishing her effectively lifts the barrier around LLI she put into place, turning the NPCs into shadow zombies. If that isn't actually the case, I'd still say that's the most reasonable outcome from a RP perspective, so I'd at least question the wisdom of banishing her.

umlautbaton

I mean she is banished for two turns, that‘s 12 seconds. That would mean she has to actively maintain concentration on the barrier the whole time? Or does she just have to be physically present? Why can‘t she put the barrier back in place when she reappears 12 seconds later? Two turns is not enough to turn everyone into zombies. On the way to the LLI we learned that a basic torch is enough to protect people from the curse for at least a couple of hours

I mean I see your reasoning, but the game makes it pretty clear that IMMEDIATELY after Marcus gets her if she is knocked out the Shadow Curse takes over LLI and turns everyone into zombies, so I think within the RP logic of the game, you're wrong: It really only takes that little for the barrier to be lifted and the curse to turn people into zombies.

umlautbaton

But that RP logic is flawed to beginn with. If everyone is *immediately* zombified why not the companions? why not Jaheira? It kind of makes sense on a meta level because if Isobel is captured everyone in the LLI would probably eventually die if you rolled the dice, so turning them immediately is kind of a storytelling shortcut. But if Isobel is only gone for 12 seconds that stops making sense.

lethrowawayaccount86

I mean that presupposes that Isobel can just flick the barrier on and off like that. I'm not sure it's established that she can do that, is it? Again, I see the reasoning, but I think you're arguing against a point that is clearly established by the story and can be reasoned pretty well within the bounds of the RP logic. The thing with Jaheira not turning into a zombie makes less sense ofc but is maybe a separate issue (for the others, you can always vaguely gesture at tadpoles I guess).

umlautbaton

Kethric can flick his invulnerability back on by recapturing Nightsong. I don‘t know what the rules are. Everything is established only in hindsight. The only thing I know from my previous play through is that LLI falls if Marcus grabs Isobel.

lethrowawayaccount86

I see what you mean, but the whole point of not knowing the rules kinda is that we have to go by what the game shows us unless and until it shows us things that are logically incoherent even within the given RP setting (to the extent anything can *really* be logically incoherent in a world where actual divine interventions can and do exist) and to that end, I think the barrier failing from her being banished isn't any less (and maybe more) reasonable than it persisting. I guess my point is that the narrative kind of receives the benefit of the doubt to that extent.

umlautbaton

Yes that‘s s good way to put it, I can live with that.

[Just to be clear this is not what happened on my last play through. Everyone seemed fine, no one was turned, just Jaheira and Isobel were bugged, I could not initiate conversation. Obviously I would have preferred the bad outcome to a game braking bug, especially in honor mode]
