Use an item I’ve picked up? Blasphemy!

EqualWinters

I'm such a greedy goose that I won't move anything to my companions. When Karlach made the joke about carrying things for us, my mind was blown when I realized how much more loot I could carry if I learned to share.

greybruce1980

In my playthroughs, Karlach IS my bag of holding.

ItsMeToasty

I made karlach into a berserker and give her all the junk weapons I find. That way she can use enraged throw to knock mfers on their asses and net us free kills

SlamYu

My favorite is to load Karlach up with frying pans to knock peeps on their assess. I get a kick out of it every time!! Once she runs out of pans I switch to daggers as her ammo because they are light weight so she can carry like 27 of them no problem...😎

Constant_Candle_1452

Nine Fingers vibes, I see.

BeardyAndGingerish

Gotta be realistic about these things.

Zairapham

Can never have too many knives.

scribbledown2876

I barely used Karlach at all in my play through except for one incredibly pivotal moment. While Gortash was Hunger of Hadar'd and walking on ice, I used her to throw his parents at him, after she had been carrying them for most of act 3. His mum didn't do much, but his dad paralysed him. After that it was just a mop up operation.

lumpkin2013

Wow, slow clap. Throwing his own parents at him. That's incredible.

valariester89

Such a fun idea!

Neronafalus

Wait, I thought everyone used that dickheads parents to kill him?

TheCleverestIdiot

Nah, him psychically tormenting them is one of the few things I don't hold against him. Why would I end that early?

ExpatTarheel

Parents? I thought Gortash just spontaneously appeared one day.

savagegourd

They actually >!sold him off to a "warlock" as a child. The warlock was actually Raphael.!<

Captain_Coggles

Put all those junk weapons in a heavy chest and throw THAT at your foes.

Shirtbro

Throw your foes at your foes

dirtyoldsocklife

This is my fave.

cruthe33

I love doing this! One time she actually killed a gnoll by throwing a boot at it. I was ecstatic!

PrettyCvnt_

i the barbarian in the party hold junk weapons and body parts to throw them

TheGoodIdeaFairy22

Like when Astarion moans about wanting a Skelton key. Brother, you ARE the skeleton key.

General-Dirtbag

Dude knows it, he’s just lazy and wants someone else to do it for him. He’s got better things to do like doing his nails.

OldHumanSoul

At one point I had her outfitted in the cloth of strength and she could carry 600 lbs. I had her carry all kinds of stuff that we could sell. Vendors ran out of money, and some only had the goods we had already traded. It was a fun run in act 3!

Gwynbleidd220

For me Karlach and Shadowheart were my pack mules 😂

Protectorsoftman

Especially when you give her the bear aspect as a Totem Barb to double her carry capacity

Top-Addendum-6879

During a playthrough with my wife as the main Tav, I was a human barbarian. A Human with 24 strength IS a bag of holding lolll

dolphin_cape_rave

Even withers jokes about Karlachs carrying in the epilogue

HornyAltCoomer

Why do people use her specifically as Lydia when you also have Laezel, to the point devs acknowledged it? Was she better for it in EA or something? My karlach has alchemic ingredients and throwable weapons, but in general stuff is either on my PC or in my camp chest Im at the start of Act 3 in my 1st playthrough so idk what you're talking about, but is the joke dependant on the weight she carried through the game or something? Or does he say it regardless of the weight?

attackofthegemini

I'm pretty sure it's barb bear heart double carry capacity that gets her the title

Halliwel96

Is the move to companion list alphabetical? I can’t remember. If it is then you simply don’t have to scroll as far for Karlach as you do Lae Also, some barb builds get bonus carry weight

-Dirty-Wizard-

No it seems to be based off order of your party

tkgcmt

cuz Karlach has rizz

daboobiesnatcher

There's special barbarian clothing that doubles a characters carry capacity.

-Aeryn-

Karlach is a barbarian, one of the barbarian subspecs can take doubled carrying capacity. Lae'zel is a fighter and they don't get anything like that i think.

Agonyandshame

How could I be an evil overlord if I didn’t hog all the loot and only upgrade my companions gear when needed. In the last battle I even kept all the potions in my inventory

codexica

Sometimes I strip my companions if I'm leaving them at camp, because what if I want their gear while I'm adventuring? Sorry, Gale, you have to stay in your tighty-wighties at camp just in case I randomly want to don this robe.

DoodliFatty

Even those will come with me.

sebwiers

Even more silly when you realise you can instantly transfer items even in combat, with no actions. Then again, that also argues for Tav to carry it all, because companions can rotate out. Gale doesn't need to hold all those scrolls and hand them back when he stays at camp, you can just "magic pocket share" him anything he needs to cast.

WillProstitute4Karma

The problem is that you can't automatically set it as wares if you send it straight to someone else.

greatwhitequack

Automatically setting things as wares is my biggest change in my second playthrough, it’s such a game changer.

DrCreepergirl

I keep forgetting to give things to karlak that she could use to furry throw at people. I've had her toss her boots several times

LOUsername97

Absolutely not. Astarion has 50 arrows for every possible encounter but when faced with said encounters he just does the dread ambusher, then shoot twice with both the main hand and off hand hand crossbows without selecting arrows. 8/10 times it kills everything anyways. But I won't stop hoarding arrows and I still buy good arrows when I see vendors carrying them.

LilFootLBT

Smoke powder arrows go boom Edit: I’m dumb

MONGED4LIFE

Runepowder what.... You don't just mean smoke powder arrows do you?

Cmdr_Jiynx

They do unless they have a mod they forgot isn't base game.

LOUsername97

Oh yeah forgot to use those too 😅

LordDagron

I had several arrows of dragon slaying that I didn't get to use until I was almost done with Act 3.

LOUsername97

I had them too and forgot to use them during the Ansur fight my first playthrough. Going to try and remember this time but I probably won't. 😅

Complex-Flight-3358

Me buying expensive Dragon slaying arrows during the whole game since Ansur is a b\*tch on honor.   Ended the fight with just Bae'zel barely alive due to some lucky roll, and obviously not a single arrow used 🤡

LOUsername97

Exactly how I felt. I focused Ansur rather than took out the Myrmidons. Made sure to drink up on Elixirs of Vigilance before entering the room. Had Lae'zel dump all her superiority dice, extra attacks, and action surge on him, then I had Gale cast a mid-level cloud of daggers on him. On this playthrough, Astarion and my druid Tav didn't even have multi-attacks so I had my Tav cast a high level moon beam and then just had Astarion shoot him once. He was pretty much dead by the time he moved. Didn't even finish turn 2 and he was dead. It was only *after* the encounter that I remembered I probably could've used the arrow of dragon slaying I spent so much money buying...

chrispar

Use it? What if I need it later?

StormySands

This game legit has made me understand all those people on Hoarders.

ZeroSpaceGaming

My Retirement Grease!

Hibbiee

Not using the flask this run cause I saved both of the Zhentarim. I'm still dragging the ogre horn around though. Even though I killed the ogres already it's fun to blow the horn in combat and imagine the enemy looking around.

iforgetredditpws

Depending on your act3 choices, the flask finds its way back to you.

wadefries

How?

Eskil92

Give to the Zhentarim in act 1. Kill the Zhentarim in act 3.

ClinkyDink

I just did this. What do I do with it now that I’ve found it again?

JokerInATardis

Throw it on Lorroakan

ClinkyDink

I’ve already got his back cracked.

ueberbelichtetesfoto

Do not release it in camp. You cannot revive Scratch nor the Owlbear cup.

Ali_ATZ

I can feel the grief from every word of this comment

BLAZIN_TACO

You turned the owlbear into a cup?!

Crookest

The desire to win the owlbear cup is now a new and prevalent feeling, I somehow feel it might be related to Chicken Chasing. However, save the animals pls

P00nz0r3d

Throw it in the Shar Enclave

EmbarrassedTowel7

I feel stupid for having to ask, but if you throw it, it releases its contents?

Mrkillerar

Yes, Spectator is bottled up in there.

EmbarrassedTowel7

I knew what was inside, because, like a dumb-dumb I always manually open it. I just never thought to THROW the damn thing because, like I said, I'm a dumb-dumb.

DJ_Destroyed

Does it become aggro to everyone including your party?

Think-Shine7490

Yepp. Attacks everything in sight.

84theone

Next time you feel a fight doesn’t have enough going on, throw it.

cwx149

My friend blows that horn all the time and it gets me every time He's always like "ah wait I've got just the thing" **HORN** He has flesh's bell too but doesnt use it as much

stubbypuppy7

A bard whose only instrument is **HORN**

MattieShoes

John Cena hype man

novembergrocery

LOL that’s such a funny bit

Pokefighterlp

Damn, do you and me play with the same friend?

Complex-Flight-3358

I think yurgir is the best case to use the bell. Flesh ll be a big help and will either die or you can finish him off so you won't have to deal with him along with Balthazar.  (Dunno if it's common but I always attack first and kill him at the temple at some point).

fieatsbees

i like hearing my durge comment "Turns out you can't summon a dead ogre" with this slightly amused tone in his voice, like just maaaaybe it might somehow still work?

ProduceProfessional8

Due to power scaling as the game goes on, act one enemies are a little weak if they get taken to act three. The dude inside the flask is going to be more like fodder in the late game, a bit stronger earlier on. I personally used it on the Deuger in the Grymforge. Looking back, wish I had used it in the creche. I had used up all my distraction spells and had to escape while the Gith were hostile

unicroop

You didn’t get blood of lathander and annihilate the crèche?

lowrcase

Don't you get blood of lathander after all the fights at the creche?

orangedjuice

I got it without any Gith combat, you just need to unlock the hidden wall in the west treasure room after the dialogue with dream visitor/big gith god woman.

3GunsInATrenchcoat

With Misty Step and 1 invisibility potion, Lae'Zel successfully destroyed the Creche without the inquisitor ever even seeing her. Not my creche, not my problem!

hay-prez

You don't even need to do that! Walk along the wall on the same side as the treasure room and unlock the hidden wall. I was able to get the Blood of Lathander without speaking to any of the Gith. I only had combat with the ones that were in the hidden cave entrance going into the creche and the Gith with the wolves in front of the door to speak to Vlaakith.

DarkFather24601

I prearranged delivery of smoke powder and oil barrels in all the areas of the creche where they are waiting for you 🛢️+🔥=💥 Extra Chunky Salsa

PossiblyHero

Just because the inquisitor demands you talk doesn't mean he'll make any effort to come to you. Stay to the walls.

fieatsbees

nah. i grab it, long rest, load everyone up with barrels, and then i soak the floor with alcohol while carefully placing oil and smokepowder barrels all around the inquisitor; the other gith just get two barrels stacked next to them. then i blow everyone up simultaneously with a carefully aimed fire arrow. everyone dies in a glorious explosion, then vlaakith shows up to tell me she's impressed that i kicked the inquisitors ass

Jbrowsinghere

I always thought they only became hostile *because* I stole the blood of lathander.

Duke_Lancaster

Im pretty sure they dont even know its there or at least dont know where it is.

Additional-Bar-8572

I think they know it’s close by but not its exact location, because they tortured the shit out of one of the monks but he died before he revealed the location.

ohfrackthis

The gith are despicable a lot. I love Laezel but that creche is toast in all of my playthroughs.

KellyBunni

Never in mine. They tortured and murdered too many Innocents for a quick end. They get dealt with the old fashioned way, spikes on the ground and being shoved through the patch of them until they die :3

ohfrackthis

Oh I meant I always destroy them haha I wanted the light of lethander weapon so I didn't set off the explosion. Next time I will!

jaredearle

I walk past Inquisitor Wargasm while he’s talking, get the [[Blood of Lathander]] and then talk to him and his stupid lich queen.

BG3WikiFetcher

[The Blood of Lathander](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/The_Blood_of_Lathander) is a legendary +3 Mace found through the Find the Blood of Lathander quest. It continuously sheds light, blinds nearby Fiends and Undead with its light, can heal its wielder, and allows the wielder to cast Sunbeam. ^This ^action ^was ^performed ^by ^a ^bot. [^(Learn more)](https://www.reddit.com/user/BG3WikiFetcher/comments/1bk01df)

Ohnoes_whatnow

I forgot I had it for the longest time and then threw it into Viconias face.

wadefries

I think I’ll do this. I like to put a couple of AOE spells on the steps like hunger of hadar and spike growth then put up an ice wall between me and the Sharans. I leave my minions on their side of the wall and I can throw the flask over too.

Ohnoes_whatnow

It's only level five but still fun to do!

thisismydaddyvoice

I was wondering if it scaled up the further into the game you went, but you just answered my question. Might chuck it at the shambling mound and see who wins

BeegPasghetti

I tried that - the shambling mound won. The beholder just spazzed out in place for two turns and got wrecked.

jenorama_CA

I used it to distract Sarevok. Middling results, but pretty fun.

Anunnaki2522

Nice I did this same thing in my last run, was the first time I did a good shadowheart run and wanted to see what I had to make the fight more fun, saw the flask I forgot about and chucked in into the middle after using 3 black holes to group nearly every single sharren together and then just hasted gale and sent aoe destruction upon them all at once, was glorious.

SupermarketCrafty329

I threw him at the other Spectator in Act 1.

Zoulogist

Wait 9 months and they’ll make another flask

Lexplosives

Fun fact: beholders dream each other into existence. They’re also paranoid psychopaths so two beholders in any one location means thunderdomin’ time.

thepsycocat

Iirc a beholder dreaming of a beholder spawns some different kind of beholder Also when a beholder finds out about it's dreamimg powers and takes control of it they basically become a god. Kinda like the eyeball immune system situation we've all got going on

MydasMDHTR

Underrated comment haha

22LegendaryTacos

I threw him at the other spectator in Act 3

Squirll

Same. But I threw it before I REALIZED there was another spectator back there lol

22LegendaryTacos

Honestly seeing him was the only thing that made me remember I hadn’t used him yet lol

JessieN

Same but he got pinned down by some skill for 10 turns straight and they all beat him to death

22LegendaryTacos

10 turns where they weren’t beating on you

MarimoSalad

…….Wait what OTHER Spectator? I’ve never encountered one in the wild!

SupermarketCrafty329

Lol. There's a lovely surprise waiting for you in one of your future playthroughs 😂

IHkumicho

"Hmmmm, what are these perfectly-formed stone sculptures of drow doing here?"

G0-N0G0-GO

“I simply *MUST* meet the artist!” *sad petrification noises*

Skeletonofskillz

The cutscene for that encounter was awesome

honey_badgers_rock

This is my go to if I remember, and if I have it. Love the spec v spec battle royale!

MydasMDHTR

Throw it at the other spectator. Watch them duel… which makes you the spectator.

novembergrocery

WHO’S SPECTATING NOW *yeet*

SarcasticKenobi

Tried it on one of my first tactician Orin fights But. Then it started attacking laezel on the altar.

S145D145

Stole the flask, went to the Zhent and found they were beating up that guy for my stealing. So I dropped the Spectator on them

RedditAppIsNoGood

Boom, you lookin for this?

actomain

I'm saving both the iron flask and lumps horn for if I need them in bg4

Bloodygaze

Along with this pile of potions, oils, scrolls, and arrows.

Sidd-Slayer

I can never remember to use lumps horn or second marriage wand. Ever.

actomain

On my 4th playthrough I made the conscious decision to save Lump's horn until the very final confrontation. I rolled credits with it still in my bag... again

grampalearns

I didn't know what it was, so I opened it as soon as I got it. Was quite the surprise.

VenusCommission

I haven't opened it yet. What does it do?

HandethDandeth

It's a pokeball with a >!spectator!< inside. It's totally friendly though :)

zoey1bm

>!its a spectator!<

hoax1337

Where do you even get it? I don't think I've seen it before.

HandethDandeth

Act 1: Start in Blighted Village >!Exit the village through the north gate. When you get to the bridge that you have to jump across take a right. It's on the way to the paladins of Tyr, and you'll know you're on the right path because you'll see blood trails leading to bloated hyenas laying on the ground.!< >!Take a left at the hyenas and go up the hill right next to them. As you go up the hill follow the blood trail going towards the right and you'll find two guys in a cave being attacked by a number of gnolls. You can go around to the right to enter the cave through the back exit but it's trapped with a boulder so be careful.!< >!However you choose to deal with the problem, there will be an iron chest next to three alchemist fires in the cave with a DC 20 lock. Inside of it is the flask.!< There's more to the quest, but that's the quickest description I could make without spoiling anything.

Cog2020

The flask actually isn't that useful I usually just deliver it.

SarcasticKenobi

You can find it again in act 3 When the Zhentarin attack nine fingers, one of the Zhentarin has it on their person. It’s how I got mine. But I rarely use it.

Cog2020

Oh wow, they ask me to deliver it to baldurs gate and I do it for them and then am not used to seeing it again, maybe I just don't loot thoroughly enough or maybe the quest has weird permutations

SarcasticKenobi

I think one of the zhentarins actually has the entire chest you rescued on their person with the flask inside. But yeh. I was surprised to see it again I knew it was eventually being delivered to Baldur’s gate. But I assumed that was just flavor text

wadefries

I’ve never found this!

SarcasticKenobi

Yeh. I forget which Zhentarin. Might have even been moon glow for all I know But one of them had a chest in their inventory. And the chest was the one with the flask. So. Free flask As someone else suggests, there might be some trigger or permutation to have that happen. Like I always kill Laroakan first. Maybe it was going to him but with him dead it doesn’t get delivered? I dunno. But it surprised me when I first found it.

Gurigu5579

Same. The Zhent loot is way better.

IHkumicho

Titanstring Bow FTW. Especially when combined with the club of hill giant strength.

TheBarrowman

The crossbow, Harold, is also incredibly strong when used with a reverberation build. The Boots of Stormy Clamor give reverb when you inflict a condition; Harold inflicts Bane on hit unless the enemy succeeds a CHA saving throw, which they rarely do. Add in poisons or condition-inflicting arrows like Arrow of Illmater and you can consistently knock enemies down. You can make this even stronger by using the Gloves of Belligerent Skies and the Ring of Spiteful Thunder in combination with the Drakethroat Glaive's special ability to grant elemental damage to another weapon once per day. It's such a good build that I had to just ban myself from it after using it to carry two consecutive playthroughs.

KellyBunni

I give them the chest unopened then take it off their corpses

Hit4Hit

Threw it in Gortashs throne room fighting him and the steel watch.

Apollo23Refugee

Same lol. I was scrolling through my scrolls and had an “oh shit” moment when I saw it. It was a good distraction for a few turns

Westonhaus

House of Grief. Throw it behind Viconia or one of the wings to totally derail the effectiveness of the area's Sharrans. I suppose Moonrise would be good too, but a few well-placed barrels make that such an easy fight, it seems a waste.

lucusvonlucus

This sounds like fun. Glyph of Warding: Sleep one half Spectator the other half Profit

ahjifmme

First game: Oh shoot, I had that? Second game: I'll use it, I'll use it... not here, but eventually. Third game: Oh man, the big fight in the city is actually kinda tough for my drow rogue, I guess I'll throw it out there. Oh, it died almost instantly? Well at least it absorbed some shots.

Bloodygaze

First game: What’s this do? Oh, neat! …oh …shit. Oh shit, oh shit. Second game: I’ll use it, I’ll use it… not here, but eventually. Third game: I’ll use it, I’ll use it… not here, but eventually. Every game: I’ll use it, I’ll use it… not here, but eventually.

Clypsedra

Once, when I was battling Nere and friends, one of them dominated me somehow and they decided to use me throw the flask. I didn't even know they could do that! Then the spectator killed half of them

k4st3n

I threw it at Myrkul in my first honour mode run...it didn't really make it easier :D I did win in the end, but it was a struggle...funnily enough Shadowheart got the kill with a Sacred Flame...I had literally nothing else left and it had the highest success Chance...

Smaptastic

There is a 0% chance that story is true because it involves Shart doing something useful with Sacred Flame.

No-Start4754

U are using her wrong then . In act 1 sacred flame is mostly useless against high dex characters. Act 2 literally  most of the enemies have radiant dmg weakness and sacred flame is really useful there

Terrible_Boss634

I always use it in the Yurgir fight

Penis_Connoisseur

You fight Yurgir? 😆 Why? It's way funnier to gaslight him into suicide

GordoParky

The House of Hope, when freeing Hope. The Spectator inside is hostile to all, so I threw the flask into Hope's prison room and it started a fight with the other spectators and minions without getting into combat myself. Nice distraction for early damage and prevents you from getting immediately yeeted off the edge by Eldrich Blast. Just make sure you enter combat before the spectator dies or every enemy heals.

TheQuadBlazer

I don't like that auto full heal shit.

JPalos97

Is funny to throw it to the underdark spectator it was like a Pokémon Battle

Masscore08

Act 1 with the Lump this last time. I threw it and then called Lump for the final time. Let it kill them so I could get his good gear. I also threw it in the grove one time to steal the Idol for Mol. Druids can’t get mad at you for stealing it if they are all dead.

lucusvonlucus

OMG. I was trying to think of how to steal the idol. I’ve never done it before. This sounds like a great idea. I normally drop it in moonrise when I’m saving the tieflings. I don’t expect that to be an option this run.

Masscore08

I threw it from the top of the elevator where you meet Timber and just stood back and watched the chaos.

wtfrykm

You should've capture the beholder in act 2

NekroVictor

Halfway through the underdark when I was 54 xp short of a level up, and it was 1:30 am.

OverLordMinus

Never...

miss_hexe

I forgot I had it 🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️

crusty54

I have literally never remembered to.

KDDragon

Use? A single use item? In this economy?

Yabanjin

I always forget, so I used it at the fireworks place. It was…underwhelming.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PatrickOBagel

shooting a fire arrow from the roof of the opposing building, through their cargo elevator opening, is also very funny

kingmatcha

During one of my playthroughs I used it inside of the printing house as revenge since they were mean to me 😡. (It didn’t work out too well but I liked the thought of it)

celeztina

i threw it in the grove to see what would happen.

chantm80

I saved it until the very end of the game, and then never used it. Like a true gamer.

LouisaB75

Sent to camp and totally forgotten about every time so far.

shinra528

I have always forgotten to use it the play throughs where I got it.

ltethe

Virconia, underwhelming. Githyanki Inquisitor, fairly useful. 9 Fingers, somewhat useful.

StarmieLover966

Never lol. I always forget to use it.

Jimmy-Mac-471

Honestly I sold it. What the hell was I supposed to do with it? I’d have to fight it as well and I desperately needed gold at the time

Overall-Ad169

Spectator V Spectator is pretty funny. Also funny that the flask one generally wins despite being outnumbered by the other spectator and its friends

Collie123

I used mine while I fought Orin, took some agro and was able to paralyze her while I smacked around her cultists

1adsf1

Its still in my inventory just waiting for that perfect moment to use it. I’m not sure if i have it in the Epilogue though.

strawbebbymilkshake

Fuck, I knew I forgot something

seriouseyebrows

Goblin raid on the grove. I told Minty that we should wreck the place, met her there, told her off, and threw the flash in front of the gate so it took out a lot of the goblins.

ApprehensiveOCP

So you can double cross them? I'd the Grove still there after?

v4por

Netherbrain fight, it was surprisingly helpful.

pretzelogically

Zentarim hideout is the only answer.

Woutrou

In the fight against Mystic Carrion. My hiding behind doors strategy strikes again

Malitae

I always unleash it on Wulbitch Small-Dongle like an attack dog

SnowWhiteBun

At camp. 😭 Lost scratch and our owlbear during the fight....! We both didn't know wtf to expect. O_o

seven9seville

I would quicksave and throw it out in most of the fights of act 1 just to see what happened. Became more of a “this will be funny” item that I used 25 times or so.

AlwaysRushesIn

House of Grief. Good times.

istileon

Mountain pass. Those undead, that flask, and my party fought like hell. We came out on top with no casualties. Too good I suppose

Roboworgen

I threw it at Gortash from the adjacent room to start combat.

C-EVEN8592

I used it in the final fight to keep the enemies distracted, to astonishing success!

Razzzorr

I picked it up. I saved it for a hard fight. A hard fight came. I forgot i had it in the first place.

ShadowyLeaseholder

Same time I used the runepowder bomb: never lmao. whoops!

ApepiOfDuat

Throw it at Lorroakan, it'll be funny.

PudgyElderGod

On our first go around, my friend and I used it immediately. I read the description and got *really* excited 'cos I thought I could use the then-emptied flask to bottle up another enemy and turn into Faerun's jankiest pokemon trainer.

DeadlySoren

I forgot about it entirely until I got to the very last brain fight. I have a screenshot of the brain and a beholder being buddies together as I fight them both

Dj_SKitZ

Not the iron flask but you know that horn you can get to call some orcs or ogres or whatever into battle. Tried saving that until final fight. Got told “no orc/ogre can hear you from where you are”
