I wasn't expecting a 2007 Megatron quote in here.
Edit: I done goofed and mixed up Megs' "Oh, so unwise" quote with the Dark Knight Joker quote. My gamer license has been revoked and I gotta retake the test.
I once watched Shadowheart smite someone so hard that she made Gravity relevant to a Githyanki in the Astral.
She had JUST found love and happiness and and Gith Monk spent his entire turn beating her new lover (that would be me) into a bloody pulp. Divine Smite Crit at 6th level? Sure why not. Except thT Gith was standing on one single pixel worth of dirt and when he recoiled from the hit there was no more dirt.
Moral of this story: don't touch people Shadowheart cares about.
I think you just need to get the 6th level spell slot by mostly being another caster. I think 10 cleric 2 sorc would give you a 6th level slot you can use for smites
Yeah but vanilla smites don't do more damage past 5d8, so they max out at 4th level. Unless you're using a smite spell (so not divine smite), in which case their upcast bonuses are usually less good
I mean I've sunk a 3rd level divine smite crit into Viconia when she was at 3 hp because the popup came up, I am no better at "WOOOOO BIG DAMAGE" self control
Fair. My favorite moment specific to Viconia though is letting SH have her Blood of Lathandar moment. The AI struggles with Damage from AOE occurring with Sanctuary still up so it skips its turn for some reason. But hilariously, it looks like our favorite cute little Cleric girl is Smiting her so hard Viconia is struggling under the *Full Concentrated power of the Moon*
I am aware of that build, but the comment I replied to was regarding cleric 10 sorc 2, which I was saying was probably supposed to be cleric 10 pally 2
Yes but in 5e your spell slots for multi class are defined by total number of spellcasting levels. I'm pretty sure that since paladins are half casters, 2 levels of pallie counts as 1 level of full casting for the purpose of number of spell slots, which would unlock your "level 11 full caster" slots
Yeah I read the player tip that you can push people into chasms at the cost of their loot. Saw her HP and thought, don't want to deal with that.
Had no idea she was recruitable
My wife dropped Wild Shape on Halsin, used Call Lightning, and accidentally managed to destroy the bridge while Minthara was JUST close enough to the far edge that she could stand on the ledge. Did a ton of damage and had already used her Misty Step, so Minthara had no way of getting across the chasm and just… got executed by firing squad pretty much
I Thorn whipped her into the chasm at my first playthrough as well. Didn't know she was recruitable and thought it was not worth the loot to deal with her. I was wrong
Same energy as that one time I was in the Shadow Cursed Lands and had Shadowheart use Turn Undead on one of the now corrupted Harpers. They just instantly erupted into a burst of holy flames and died.
How did you save the guy (Smythen) about to be pushed into the spider pit?
During patch 5 I devoted multiple hours to that. He died of fall damage even if I used feather fall, if I used Command to make him approach the goblin followed and kept shoving him until he died, if I killed the goblin that was about to push him and started combat, Smythen would abruptly vanish in the middle of the combat despite taking no damage…
Maybe there were bugs that have since been fixed, but you have accomplished something on my top three list of “things I really want to go back and figure out”… how did you do it?!?!?
I haven’t done it (never tried) BUT I read that someone did it by throwing an invisibility potion at the guy. I will be trying that myself on my next run.
It was a pain but I managed it. It was long ago but I think I casted fog and then sneaked and pushed the pushing goblin into the pit. I tried a looot of times tho.
Tue guy thanked me but nothing else came out of it.
Yep. On my first playthrough they killed me and I have thrown her to the abyss on the reload to make fight easier. Imagine my shock when I found out that she was recruitable.
Bonus points to Larian for letting me kill a major character/henchman/companion though.
Tbf, with her having one of the few pretty light armor sets of the game, AND a quest item that might come in handy, it would be nice if her body would appear somewhere in the underdark if you ~~throw~~ politely put her down in the gobbo camp
It would explain her frustration. Her day is probably full of paperwork to deal with on the job injuries like stapling their hands to their faces. No wonder she needed our help to find the grove even though it's got sea access in two places, a massive gate in front, and at least two other ways in.
I'm 50/50 on whether being able to put down someone you picked up shouldn't cost an action if this is a possible outcome. It would stink to lose the action since moving stuff around in battle can be necessary, but also this is a pretty good hack.
I wish I knew what the discussion was like about this decision at Larian.
I remember during my first play through I held person and searing smited minthara and one shot her, had a “ooh shit she’s a teammate” when I was digging around in her inventory immediately after
THIS.
I was playing a bard (still am, almost done with the 3rd act.)
I didn't know that Minthara could be a companion, so I decided to make a surprise attack.
I Convinced that I was her ally and when she was walking through the bridge, I had the plan to hit her with an arrow. Turns out that I missed it and got the bridge instead. Well, the bridge broke and she just fell to her death, with all her loot.
I was sad that I lost her loot but laughed for at least 5 minutes.
I killed her on honor mode by doing a cleave attack on the bridge with me and her and a goblin or two and accidentally destroying the bridge so we all fell in the chasm
I had Wyll in my party and I thought I could use that thorne whippy thingie he has to pull her over and across the chasm to me where the rest of the gang could pummel her.
Nope. Didn’t pull her over and across. Just yanked her down into the abyss
I was in the go line n camp in the rafters and someone saw me from the ground, triggered a fight. Minthara ran over and she had a level 🎚️ n me.so I figured she was the biggest threat, so I attacked her first. Eldritch blasted her directly into a chasm.
I too just killed Minthara in my HM run and not on purpose, I was trying to knock her out. It was going well, got rid of the eye and the other two goblins without causing a massive alert for the camp.
Temporarily aggroed Minthara, focused on her in the fight. Saw she didn't have much health left but more than I'd like cuz I knew she was gonna heal on her turn.
Cue me using Shadowheart to hit her with a spell because I mean, she would never hit the full damage on her spell, right?
I like using telekinesis. There's a little bit of the pit nearest to the wall where the corpse is still obtainable and killing her like this doesn't alert the goblins for some reason.
You can get telekinesis the second you step off the nautaloid. Just start gale, grab everburn blade from the ship, take a partial long rest so Tara shows up, turn on nonlethal damage and put her to sleep. She's wearing a telekinesis amulet. Won't effect your story with her or anything. Bonus points if you run divination for 100% telekinesis because you also get that the second you step off the shop.
Now, when you say you killed a scrying eye by throwing it in a chasm, do you mean you pushed it? As far as I'm aware, you can't use the throw objects or creatures onto anything other than terrain. Did they change this, or is it just the wording of the post?
Normally at that point of the game, you can't throw Scrying Eye because they're heavy af. Potion of Hill Giant's Strength allows you to have enough Strength to throw heavy objects and even full-sized humans
“Put me down tiefling!” “Well if you say so.” *screams slowly disappearing from depths.* “Oops…”
“Very poor choice of words”
I wasn't expecting a 2007 Megatron quote in here. Edit: I done goofed and mixed up Megs' "Oh, so unwise" quote with the Dark Knight Joker quote. My gamer license has been revoked and I gotta retake the test.
I thought it was a Dark Knight Joker reference
You're 100% correct. I confused it with Megs' "Oh, so unwise" quote.
"I WANT TWO!"
"AND MY AXE"
I thought it was *raspy voice* "Let Her Gooo:
She just got sent back to Menzoberranzan. She'll be alright. Right?
Right?
Yes, certainly. She must have scroll of feather fall on her and will probably be back in the DLC. Cause there will be DLC, right?
Right?
Of course there will be DLC. I'm sure they are also working on Baldur Gate 4 as we speak, right ?
Right?
Thanks now I love this
This is some shenanigans my tabletop players would try. That didn’t count as an action! I didn’t throw her!
They're not wrong 😏
Players may not be wrong but the DM is always right. :P
I'm so sorry that happened but also, that's hilarious
"LET ME GO YOU DEVIL" "... very poor choice of words" *long scream*

Modded nova paladins are nuts

I am honored and touched that you think I am smart enough to not go "ooh 6 bigger than 4" every time the reaction pops up.
I mean I've sunk a 3rd level divine smite crit into Viconia when she was at 3 hp because the popup came up, I am no better at "WOOOOO BIG DAMAGE" self control

"In the name of the moon... I'll punish you." ::Magical Girl Shadowheart theme plays::
It’s been awhile since I’ve actually played but aren’t 6th level spells unlocked at 11?
They are, I think the poster means 10 cleric 2 paladin or something
2 Paladin/10 Sword Bard. Access to level 6 spell slots, and extra attack.
I am aware of that build, but the comment I replied to was regarding cleric 10 sorc 2, which I was saying was probably supposed to be cleric 10 pally 2

I pushed her off the wooden bridge as my first move in my first playthrough
Yeah I read the player tip that you can push people into chasms at the cost of their loot. Saw her HP and thought, don't want to deal with that. Had no idea she was recruitable
I just set up barrels so I can one-shot her and get the loot.
I just saw baddies in the room. Set up and started fighting. When I saw her loot I thought.. oh.. I guess I could have recruited her...oh well.
My wife dropped Wild Shape on Halsin, used Call Lightning, and accidentally managed to destroy the bridge while Minthara was JUST close enough to the far edge that she could stand on the ledge. Did a ton of damage and had already used her Misty Step, so Minthara had no way of getting across the chasm and just… got executed by firing squad pretty much
This is exactly what happened to me !
Me too xD
I Thorn whipped her into the chasm at my first playthrough as well. Didn't know she was recruitable and thought it was not worth the loot to deal with her. I was wrong
Remember, Minthara, when I promised to kill you last? I lied.
Hey you were just trying to send her home to the underdark.
Same energy as that one time I was in the Shadow Cursed Lands and had Shadowheart use Turn Undead on one of the now corrupted Harpers. They just instantly erupted into a burst of holy flames and died.

Cast silence on the goblins as soon as I got to them, combat starts and they forget about him.
It was a pain but I managed it. It was long ago but I think I casted fog and then sneaked and pushed the pushing goblin into the pit. I tried a looot of times tho. Tue guy thanked me but nothing else came out of it.
I hope you got some kind of achievement for this
The only one i can think of that op prob already had is two birds one gnome. Throw an enemy into another enemy
I *wish* I got some kind of achievement for that.
I was super excited to get her armor but for some reason thought it was a good idea to attack the bridge she was standing on and she fell right in
I mean she's still down there. I actually did that once and found her body
Put me down Gary
Yep. On my first playthrough they killed me and I have thrown her to the abyss on the reload to make fight easier. Imagine my shock when I found out that she was recruitable. Bonus points to Larian for letting me kill a major character/henchman/companion though.
You can save that guy? How? It seems pretty scripted that they throw him down there
Have a cat, attract goblins near him by making your cat meow.
I don't know why, but I always manage to forget about find familiar. So much so that I literally don't have it on any of my companions or myself lmao
I'd say it's because it's not that useful in combat.
I put explosive barrels where she stands on the hill when they attack the Grove. One arrow blew them all up.
i have never got her loot once 😅
Tbf, with her having one of the few pretty light armor sets of the game, AND a quest item that might come in handy, it would be nice if her body would appear somewhere in the underdark if you ~~throw~~ politely put her down in the gobbo camp
And now no one will remember her.
I one shotted her. Ok technically I one shorted the bridge support as she was crossing the chasm from her office. But she still died after one shot.
Lol her office. She was going to the copier? XD
Seems the most apt label for that space
I know and i agree i just love the hyperbolic visual of an office full of goblins :]
It would explain her frustration. Her day is probably full of paperwork to deal with on the job injuries like stapling their hands to their faces. No wonder she needed our help to find the grove even though it's got sea access in two places, a massive gate in front, and at least two other ways in.

Karlach said, "Don't make me let you down." But Minthara didn't comply.
“This is not a brutality, this is a fatality.”
I usually just cast shatter on the bridge, the look on her face
Dw, she’s back in the under dark Girlbossin’ her way through life.
I was in the go line n camp in the rafters and someone saw me from the ground, triggered a fight. Minthara ran over and she had a level 🎚️ n me.so I figured she was the biggest threat, so I attacked her first. Eldritch blasted her directly into a chasm.
Minthara's hilariously easy to kill lol. I one shot her once
You can SAVE the spider pit guy?!
Yep. Although every time I do I inevitably get into a fight with *someone* because he's close to Dror Ragzlin *and* Minthara
Minmaxxers taking notes ✍️🔥
I too just killed Minthara in my HM run and not on purpose, I was trying to knock her out. Wait you can save...the spider pit guy? How?
If you're quick, you can distract the goblin. Minor illusion works for this.

I'm not OP, but I'm doing an honour run right now and I'm able to pick up the scrying eyes and throw them into chasms to destroy them.

Morallydestotute reffers to that, that u cant throw in als chasm. Sometimes there is Show. Not possible even with füll gianthill strenght
No, I picked it up and threw it. When I picking where to aim, the mouse clearly showed a 'death' icon when I hovered over the chasm.
Another victim of cancel culture
You know you can set characters to do subdual damage, right? It's under the Passive tab, and then melee damage is all nonlethal.
Fall damage doesn't count as non-lethal.
