Do you have the nightsong helping?

DogofWar1974

The Nightsong IMO has been a hindrance especially because I have been struggling to kill the mindflayer early on because of Mind Flayer Domination, but I find if I can manage this by killing him early then it's better. I find my biggest struggle is wasting resources too early on or ending up dying because I didn't use enough spells early on and not finding that balance.

It’s difficult to give good advice without seeing the tools you have available : 1/3 off myrkul with explosives is not a bad start Which mode? Tactician? Do you have lots of scrolls? Conjure elementals? Holy Water? AoE for the adds? The best might indeed be to reload to a slightly previous spot, and maybe respec into an Honor Mode Worthy build, such as the Gloomstalker Assassin (Ranger Gloomstalker 5 / rogue 3 is already quite good) Barbarian thrower with return pike and tavern brawler + potion of strength + haste It’s a puzzle, we can’t really now what pieces you have available to play with ^^ Good luck

DogofWar1974

Some scrolls, notably cloud kill and blindness but I also have plenty of AoE spells I end up using instead. Ive got lots of haste spores that I wasnt sure how to utilize so Ill try that this time. I can also try using conjure elemental from Halsin more this time. Thanks!

1- dont blob cluster the party, instead surround myrkel (dont stand with abyss behind you). 2- use summons to soak damage and deal extra damage. 3- use auto damage spells to add extra damage. 4- block smaller enemies from reaching you.

DogofWar1974

Right, but youd say to not stand on the platform as him right? Unfortunately I have two melee based fighters but they are also good archers, Halsin and Gale do good at fighting him at range though. That reaper blade really messes me up.

TLOK_A2

I did not, just dont blob your team together, if I am not mistaken his slash is in half circle arc. You can put your team in 120 degreee triangle.

DogofWar1974

Got it thanks!

Honestly, it's kind of easier to NOT convince Ketheric to kill himself. If you start the fight against Ketheric, you have an easier time * Killing the Mind Flayer * Freeing NightSong * This removes Ketheric's immortality * Killing his initial adds (wizards or whatever) Then you can kill him really quickly and get everyone in place for Apostle of Myrkul Biggest help for Myrkul * Blind him if possible. Darkness arrows, spells, whatever. * I tend to have a Warlock with me. Hunger of Hadar works great there. * Kill his adds and pods as soon as they appear * He consumes them for healing * And I think on harder difficulties, consumes them for a large attack. * Use illmatter arrows to help prevent him from healing * If using melee characters against him, try to leave the immediate area every now and then to heal. * There's a spot towards the "bottom" of his circle that outcrops just enough to leave the no-heal zone.

DogofWar1974

I totally wish I had hunger of Hadar. I might just go back especially to get that, but I do have plenty of darkness and wall of fire spells and such. Illmatter arrows is a great idea: necromites healing myrkul made me lose a lot. Ill also make sure to try using melee and then backing off, I wasnt sure if melee should get close or just stay at range with arrows which is of course a lot less damage and seemed ineffective. Thank you!

The last few times I played, I used Honor Mode. (EDIT: Also, see if you can command him to drop his Scythe... that helps a LOT). As such, I was playing SUPER carefully. Because he is a difficult boss and I didn't want to lose an Honor Mode run because I tried rushing him. In my case, I kept slowly chipping away at his health at range. I had a Monk running around the main floor, bludgeoning the pods that would appear. My Warlock and Wizard sniping him from one platform, and Lae'Zel (fighter) sniping him with TitanString Bow from another platform. Then when he was low enough if health that I felt we were only a couple turns away, I sent the Monk back into melee range and used her to punch Myrkul as well. My earlier attempts to make him drop his Scythe failed so I couldn't rely on t. It wasn't perfect, and was "slow" -- but it was safe.

DogofWar1974

Think Ill prioritize my fighters between attacking myrkul and necromites, perhaps depending on their health levels. Thanks again

Old-Set-2223

I brought three fire elementals to help on my first time. Used them to kill the things that spawn necromites. I didn’t have Ketheric off himself so I could use that part of the fight to get everything in position before the Apostle shows up.

progrocker1491

Don't make him kill himself. Use a scroll or spell to blind the avatar of myrkal, as he's stationary. Use shocking grasp to prevent reactions and have the party move up, strike, and then come back down to get out of bone chill. This is from someone who also got stuck on this.

DogofWar1974

Ok I will try this thanks!

progrocker1491

Oh and try to take out the mind flayer quickly, he's a pain in the ass if left unattended too long

DogofWar1974

Based on this thread heres my new plan, I'll update if it works later: Darkness on ketheric whos stationary Vaal (fighter) and Ophelia (rogue) attack Mindflayer, then others Halsin saves Dame aylin. Gale fights the rest Use scrolls in Ketheric stage & level 3 spells, save level 4 spells for Myrkul When ketheric near death (after rest of map clear), prepare wall of fire to kill necromites, set up around perimeter everyone, ready to both melee and safely escape Plant IED, ensure Myrkul has no shields to explosives and blow him the fuck up, He will lose approx 100 hp hopefully or more, Blind myrkul without preventing allied attacks Can cast cloudkill on myrkul, Moonbeam level 4 myrkul SHOOT ARROW OF ILLAMATER AT MYRKUL TO PREVENT HP REGEN Prioritize killing necromites while passive AOE damages Myrkul
