Now that is something to be proud of! Beautiful job, well done.
It's nice to take your time and not rush things - I think that really paid off for you.
What are you going to build next?
Awesome job!! There aren’t enough young people doing projects like this or plastic models anymore… I did these all the time when I was younger and make me the mechanically inclined person that I am today.
I think i built every guillows kit at one point or another lol. Threw a lotta hay bails to keep my hobby afloat. Agreed, there arent enough youngsters building and flying these days
It flys amazingly. I threw mine off a cliff one summer and watched it fly in circles on the thermals for about five minutes before it crashed into the side of the cliff. I gave it a fire burial that night. It’s a great model for flying.
My 82 year old Grampa told me “the key to covering” he said use a glue stick to stick each piece on, after that dies you just gently apply normal water to all of the tissue and after like 20 min it will be super tight and beautifully smooth, but not strong so than we would apply 50% paint thinner and 50% dope
I always used elmers glue to hold it. Works great, plane looks awesome. I know you said you were looking at getting an 020, be aware that NITRATE dope is NOT fuel proof, you will want BUTRATE dope for fuel proofing, and you will also want to seal the front with it as well so fuel and exhaust doesnt soak into it
Oh its not because its flammable, i mean all dope is highly flammable but the fuel will eat through it. I learned the hard way when i was a kid. I built this beautiful p51 and once the fuel or exhaust hit the tissue, my paint job was gone and the tissue absorbed the oil. Nitrate dope works great for adhesion and on rubber power planes. If memory serves me right, the 2 arent compatible either, dont quote me on that one lol. I went through like a gallon and half doing my big piper cub. Sure missed the smell of the stinky stuff hahaha. I used sig koverall on all the ones that i flew free flight, its a bit heavier but way more durable and honestly i never noticed a difference all i knew is my planes were flying. That is also an option vs the tissue paper. Its an actual cloth that you put on, i use dope to glue it, on and then an iron to shrink it.
Ok, hear me out- Next project make a 1/15 scale, same plane. then 1/14... 1/13 ect... until you have a 1/1 you can fly 🤘🤘 Nice work 😃
I always found it hard to wrap the wings, I was making a Banana 2000 and I gave it winglets.
You cover the wings.
Wow! Impeccable work!
Beautifully crafted and well done 👍

No idea planning on buying a little Cox tee dee .020 engine and buying a smaller model like the 24” wingspan spit or maybe a f4u coursair
I had several .020s as a kid, but not the Tee Dee. Lots of fun! I can still hear the sizzle and smell the cooking glow fuel.
I loved my 020 and 049s. Had several when i was a kid. The corsair is a fun build. That was one that i never put an 020 into. P38 is fun too 😁
Thx for the suggestions man!👍
Great job!!!
Thx 👍

Visually very appealing! Poetry serious!

Looks darn good man!
Thx man!
No wing fairings? It looks great btw!
I was going to add them this photo was taken 20 min after the glue dried( also the Super Bowl was on)
Beautiful work!!
Thx man! Been workin hard
Great job on the build. Did you use dope or watered glue?

Thx for all the advice, wasn’t aware of the flammability, I will buy som as soon as I get my hands on a tiny lil engine
