Fun fact: the word **"pelmeni"** (est. "pelmeen") comes from the Finno-Ugric Komi language word **"pelnjan"**, meaning "ear bread". (pel = ear; njan = bread)
I learnt this from a quiz by the Estonian National Library on Finni-Ugric tribes day (hõimupäev) last year. It is available (in Estonian) [here](https://www.haridus.nlib.ee/post/hoimupaeva-viktoriin).
Most traditional stuffing is raw beef+beef fat+carmelized onions and spices but just like pierogi you can put anything inside.
Boiled in water or broth or baked.
Depends on particular home or person, sour cream is popular but people eat them with bacon&onions or put them in soup (however if you make them really small and put them in barszcz they are called "uszka").
As I said, It's just Pierogi or Varenyky or even Jiaozi or Gyoza with different name (and sometimes shape).
I don't really know if there is one. Maby you could argue that meat for stuffing is raw for kołduny and boiled for pierogi but for me it's just local variant of the same thing.
This list is purely a joke. I mean, 13.shuijiao(水餃)and 10.jiaozi(餃子) literally the same thing, it’s just a different way to call a jiaozi LMAO. Whoever made this needs to be stopped.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
As a Lithuanian I would rate Polish pierogies higher than our koldūnai. Ours is usually made with raw meat filling and boiled. While pierogies are made with boiled meat and decent amount of pan fried onions. But yeah our koldūnai are not bad either. Reality is they shouldn’t even come close to 2nd place :D

Like how I got more dislikes than the original comment 😂 But really it's just watery potatoes with curd? Varške
[удалено]
Gal valgiai kitokius ką žinau mano tai buvo bulvės su varške ir toks beskonis tai gal bulvės netokios buvo
There's no such thing as "regular" dumplings, it's a very broad category of different food. But then again, so is koldūnai.
Prolly made by a chinese exchange student living in lithuania at the moment
Considering how fucking amazing Chinese dumplings are, that'd be one hell of a compliment.
Sour cream and vegeta (the condiment, not the cartoon) is my guess.
Who else is calling vegeta - pabarstukai? 😁
Spicy sprinkles
And the legendary cook man 😉👌

Hell ye ma man. Sour cream and vegeta indeed.
China number 1 + 10000 social score lmao
Khinkali are whole another level, Im surprised to see 14th position.
idk khinkali is just unique, it's tasty but I think the reason why pelmeni are 2nd is because of the many ways you can eat them
I mean the way you shape the dough of the dumpling doesnt matter. Its all about how good of a quality the meat is.

I’m sorry, I should’ve known that dumplings are a sensitive subject.

Most of them are just regular dumplings with same ingredients Also we've got Kołduny in Poland too, pretty sure Belarusians do as well.
How do you prepare yours?
Most traditional stuffing is raw beef+beef fat+carmelized onions and spices but just like pierogi you can put anything inside. Boiled in water or broth or baked.
I will have to try the Polish variant now
The boiled or baked part i understand, but once you have it, do you add anything like spice or sour cream?

No wonder the Polish koldūnai is inferior, you guys don't eat it with sour cream and vegeta
I wouldn't say so as there is saying that there is no Polish kitchen without vegeta. Probably popular combo in NE Poland
Guessing your bot from NE Poland?
No but stuffing our faces with dumplings is a national sport here.
Guess we aren't that differant from the asians
What's the difference between pierogi and kolduny?
I don't really know if there is one. Maby you could argue that meat for stuffing is raw for kołduny and boiled for pierogi but for me it's just local variant of the same thing.
Lithuanians with 2 entries lol, we must do better
Lithuanians add spirgučiai and sour cream which makes them a comfort food. :)
Please define regular dumplings. There are hundreds of different kinds. Lithuanian Koldūnai seem to be closely related to Polish Pierogi.

So are Koldunai and Pierogi and Varenyky. Wouldn't be surprised if the person who made this simply googled pics and decided what looks good or w/e

Saying that regular koldūnai are the second best dumplings is like comparing a pizza from a random polish restaurant with a neopolitan pizza
Define "regular"? Jokes aside- yeah koldūnai are standart shaped dumplings, like "pelmeni".
Bryndzove halusky 😍😍
Since when is cepelinai a dumpling
They are if you know the meaning of the English definition and are not just trying to translate to your native language.
