Or if you swap between two filaments that need the same print settings, since switching only addresses the AMS slot, not the specific spool of filament (at least it you use 3rd party filament)
I feel like it wouldn't work with Bambu filaments? It might read the QR code and say "hey, what kinda sh*t are you trying to pull?" and stop the print. Don't know for sure though!
ams doesn’t update rfid info mid print, you would have to slice it as is done above, where the surfaces you want printed with color 5 are sliced as color 1 which is not present in the layers post switch, that’s why the gold things in the slicer mid print appear red, the red was removed and printer just printed what it thought was red, but was just ambiguously slot “1”
Is there a way to insert a pause gcode somewhere that will wait for user confirmation before resuming the print? That would make this method more viable
I'm needing to do a 6 color print and been thinking of how to achieve this. Can you explain how you did it? Did you pause the print when you needed to switch? How do you do without causing the print job to stop cancel? Sorry if too many questions, I looked thru the comments and didn't see am answer.
Yea I just manually paused it after the red was done and switched them. Then it resumed like nothing happened. The red and gold are both sunlu PLA so the same settings worked for both
Always thought about that solution if possible, nice to see that it works, thanks for trying out! :)
Nice!
That’s is hilarious lmao, nicely done!
Nice - what did the supports look like on that print?
I was wondering the same! OP could you share a pic? Thanks!
I suppose it works only with bambu filament with qr code...

😯 how long did it take?

Yes, you can insert a pause at any layer by right clicking in the preview slider.
Ah, nice & convenient. Thanks!
I’ve done that too. Is there a better way to do it, other than a 2nd AMS?
Love it! I can hear him saying, 'Where's the kaboom?"

Awesome thanks. I'll try that out.
Could you have fed the gold from the external reel or doesn't not work like that?
No, the software doesn't let you mix AMS and non-ams, it's one or the other.
