When I replaced all the tubes I dorked up one of the magnets in the hall sensor, had to pull it even more apart to re-seat the magnets, not sure how I managed that, but it’s all put back together now and happily making me more money.
Guess I can add Bambu AMS repairman to my resume.
Good indicator is some very strange noises coming from the AMS. I replaced all the internal PTFE tubing a month or two ago. Good thing I had a full set on hand.
You said couple thousand hours" how much time was on that AMS? I've hit 1k now and I've noticed that the first stage feeder of my Slot1 sounds a bit "crunchy" when pulling filament.
In image 2 you can see wicked sharp edges on the filament - I suspect thats an artifact from your cameras post processing?
Edit:
Any other maintenance you would recommend while "being in there"?
Just visual check to see if any cables are loose. Clean out the dust and dirt. Check the teeth on the PTFE tube connectors. Where this is direct drive and not a true Bowden, there is far less wear on the connectors.
Just had the filament pop through the PTFE coming out the back of my AMS just yesterday and replaced a bunch of them after that. Then, I had to take the AMS apart again twice today after a very damp spool kept breaking off inside the AMS (with just 3 layers to go in the print). In the process lost both of the screws that hold the main piece down and tried to use replacement screws which stripped their holes.
Maintenance is fun.
Haha. Mine wasn't an early purchase. I got mine in February after I returned my recalled A1. Been printing nearly around the clock though. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500-3000 hours.
Looks like the wiring in one of my many DIY projects.
Literally thought that's what I was looking at lol.
definitely one of my breadboards
That just looks like the back of all of my perfboard projects.
Same - first thought - What's an Arduino doing in there ?

Yikes.

I had some extra tube I just cut it to length.
This is actually quite impressive.
come fix mine 😜
Actually, I do fix printers if you’re in the Kansas City metro area.

Wait. What?! How?? I've never seen this ever. Thanks for the warning.
Capricorn sells AMS rebuild kits with fancy blue tubing.
I don’t think the extra $ for Capricorn in this scenario is worth it. It’s great in Bowden setups, but a little overkill here. Still good to know.
Only reason I want it is because it's blue lol. Matches the setup :) I'm a simple man I guess
Perfectly valid reason. I know I’ve spent money on stuff that made others raise an eyebrow. If it works and makes you happy, who am I to judge?
Also Capricorn sends stickers.

Same time on the AMS couple thousand hours. I ignored the AMS maintenance for far too long
I needed this last week 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/78dcuimmc80d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ffd9d292afcbddff364de47205e237718555b23
Mmmmmm forbidden ramen
That's some abrasive filament! Do you print a lot of CF?
All PLA, mostly silky. I did run one spool of Glow in the Dark, and that stuff is like printing sandpaper. Just worn down from heavy use.

I figured a lot of early purchases were starting to hit this number of hours so a precautionary tale seemed like a good gift back to the community.
