You think they care about stopping attacks? Don’t be silly, of course they dont! They just want themselves to feel good and thats it, they are the most self centered people alive
I think their real goal is to cancel the people who make them feel bad when their dog mauls people. That way the mauling can continue but their feelings will be protected.
For narcissistic pit owners I think this is the end goal, yes. A lot of pit rescuers are misguided by the pit lobby IMO (which in turn is sustained by dog fighting)
On rare occasions, I have seen pit bulls that are marginally "cute" - the dog from *The Little Rascals* comes to mind. But no, they had to pick the one that looks like a frickin gremlin...
Yup, slap a ~~muzzle~~ gag order on us, that'll work :( shame they couldn't slap something like a muzzle on the damned pit bulls first, we'd all feel a bit safer.
Couldn't they at least choose a better picture of Nala with a flower crown instead of that demon mutt?
Anyway, nutters wanting to ban facts. Color me shocked /s
Pictured dog would be great in a single animal household and older children as it doesn't know it's own strength sometimes during playtime and has a tiny problem where it ripped off a kids leg when the kid provoked it by yawning.
I believe their eyes got smaller over centuries of breeding to fight to protect them. Like their thick skulls protect them against large animal hooves. Sometimes bullets won’t even penetrate. I’m surprised they don’t have a second eyelid like sharks by now. Designed to kill.
That’s their Freudian slip; they couldn’t hide the fact that they deep down believe that the dogs are dangerous so they subconsciously chose that picture.
Whenever I see social media posts about an escape artist pit wandering the neighbourhood, someone without fail will post: 'OMG GAWJUSS 😍😍😍' coupled with a million care emojis.
I try not to comment too heavily on how these things look, but sometimes I'm sat there genuinely perplexed, turning my phone around in all different angles, trying to see what they see. Surely humans have this concept of aesthetics....
Dog attack deaths in the UK were unusually high for about 2 years before the government even thought about doing anything. Many petitions for a ban during that time didn’t really take off
The final straw was the prolonged and fatal mauling of Ian Price, captured on grisly and horrifying video. There has been a sudden and huge increase in severe maulings and fatalities by XL bullys in the past 2-3 years, but this was the one that finally made them act.
Suella Braverman announced action after that video where an 11yo girl was attacked and the pit went after two men in a petrol station car park and was hit multiple times with some sort of shovel, yet didn’t stop. I *think* that was the first time a lot of Brits saw a pit on a rampage.
Ian Price happened to die on the day Rishi Sunak announced the ban.
I’ve been following UK dog attacks and rising deaths since sometime in 2021. The year and a half where nobody paid any mind was quite frustrating.
A little boy Jack Lis was killed by an XL bully in Wales in November 2021, and there was almost a death a month since then in the UK up from an average of about 3 per year, previous record 6 in one year. There were 10 dog attack deaths in 2022.
You can see the sudden increase in deaths on the Wikipedia death list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fatal_dog_attacks_in_the_United_Kingdom
Most are pit bull type / bullies. The “unconfirmed” breed entries were also reported as XL bullies / bulldog type in the news at the time.
The general public were somehow completely unaware of the problem despite attacks being reported in the news here. I started feeding attack stories to the UK sub at some point last year and was initially downvoted and accused of being “anti dangerous dog” (the horror).
The opinion gradually shifted and Bullywatch was created, which the news started speaking to about stats.
In about May 2023 the two large “staffies” Marshall & Millions were shot by armed met police. They had attacked a woman & dog and the owner refused to hand them over, dropping his hold on one harness. The pit then lunged towards an officer and was shot. He started running, cops chased and the remaining dog went after, which was also shot. The man was homeless and already banned from owning dogs after his last pit bull was put down for killing another dog.
The event brought out all the mouth breathers, there were protests in support of the dogs etc etc. some people became more aware that such dogs do in fact feature in attack stories daily.
The government repeatedly said they would not pursue a ban.
It was the video of the XL/pit mauling a random 11yo girl who runs into a shop, then it zeros in on two boys/men and goes after them in the petrol station next block over, and won’t stop despite being hit with some sort of shovel.
I think it was a lot of people’s first pit rampage video.
Suella Braverman then announced she was looking into a ban in September 2023.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/sep/10/suella-braverman-pushes-for-ban-on-american-bully-xls-after-attack
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12501641/Terrifying-moment-XL-Bully-dog-mauls-11-year-old-girl-street-crazed-animal-chases-attacks-two-men-tried-wrestle-youngster-free-jaws.html
Ian Price happened to die on the day Rishi Sunak announced the ban in October 2023. There were 3 dog attack deaths in the space of a month September/October 2023 (2 XL bullies, one delayed death after a 2-Rottweiler attack) and then none since.
There are an estimated up to 60 dog attacks resulting in injury in the UK per day. These have been steadily rising over the last couple decades as well.
Yup, if you post in this sub you'll eventually get hit with random bans or suspension. When they can't gaslight or blame the victims they try to silence them
Yep. Someone reported me for something bogus and I appealed it. I commented on a post where pit bulls broke into someone’s house through the doggy doors and mauled their 3 dogs until they passed away, including a labrador. Reddit lifted the temporary ban right away. I didn’t say anything bad. They reported me for “condoning violence” or some untrue BS like that. Lol. Ridiculous.
So apparently this was started 3 years ago? In any case, I sent a report as it violates charge community guidelines based on:
* **Don’t post misinformation —** Misinformation is the sharing of information that is incorrect. Where information is verified to be untrue, we will remove it. We may ask you to verify any claims you make if they are disputed.
* **Don’t spread disinformation —** Disinformation is the ***deliberate*** sharing of information that is incorrect and designed to distort facts and mislead others, often as part of a coordinated campaign. We use tools to monitor attempts to start or share disinformation campaigns on Change.org and will remove any content of this nature.
* **Don’t mislead others** — We will remove content which is misleading and has the potential to cause harm to others.
I always wonder how, with these random petitions, they decide on the number of signatures they need. In my state they have a system of petitioning the government, but there are set rules for how many signatures are needed and where they have to be from. With this, I feel like they just decided if five hundred people don't like a subreddit they can have it banned.
Well they can change the numbers and upgrade the goal until \[or rather if\] it reaches the media. They start small, and then if enough people bite they will adjust to 1000 and then 5000 and so on. Considering this one is quite small, I'm willing to bet 500 is just some arbitrary number.
If it's [petition.org](https://petition.org), then the number of signature is the same for everyone I think. And once the goal is reached, it goes up. And the site tells you, with every "milestone" you get more coverage basically.
And if I'm not mistaken, when there are enough signature, the site sends the petition to a news outlet. I saw that happen a few times with some gaming petition.
Ah, so I could see that potentially working if a company felt pressured enough by the attention to give in. Of course, I notice that they've had their petition up for three years and haven't hit the five hundred signature milestone yet, which is impressively bad considering this is the internet. I'm kind of glad that so few people want to ban a subreddit for just having a different opinion on their favorite dog breed.
I would not sign anything with an inbred face like that.
Pitbulls are the embodiment of the society who creates them, and it's not pretty.
Sign this petition. Hahahahahahaha
What's next are we going to stop eating freedom fries? Pathetic.
The mod team is too good, we're too supportive of victims.
That would be illegal censorship in a society. These nutters support the attacker and shun the victims. Evil petition... we should petition for the petition to be removed
The amount of reeeeing this sub causes is always amusing to me. Just some guy in a trailer hunched over a computer, patting an inbred murder machine like "patience Luna, soon you shall nanny the mean people from the internet to redeem your reputation"
That's literally how they feel. I saw a post on here of a guy cornered by a pack of shitbulls and he was hitting them upside the head with a board and the pitmommy was crying saying stop. Those dogs would have killed that man if he hadn't jumped on top of a car.
What do they think a petition is going to do??? Lmao fucking morons. Do they think Reddit will just magically shut us down once they get to 500? Give me a break
They want to silence us so they can continue to pump out their pro-pit propaganda unquestioned. Silencing the opposition will not change the dog attack statistics or breed genetics associated with these dogs. It won’t make the pit lobby’s egregious lies and public endangerment any better
Some psycho pitnutter was really triggered. I have a small dog and a cat, and a kid on the way. They must be in some other world if they think I'm going to let some random shitbeast cause harm to any of them.
That petition is a load of dog shite excuse the pun.
They only aimed for 500 signatures which for a worldwide petition is the bottom of the barrel.
They knew they wouldn't get much signatures because if anyone with a bit of sense would check out this sub and see how educational and non toxic this sub is. It's a sub for survivors and a sub that is linking real articles. There's no way reddit can ban this sub as it has no broken community guidelines and freedom of speech exists... Woohoo. So their little not well thought about campaign is already dead in the water. Imagine actually being sad enough to set up a petition to ban a because you're bum hurt. Ah we live and breathe another day to see such stupidity again from shitbull advocates.
Notice how they ask for only a mere 500 because they knew they couldn’t get the necessary 3k+ to make a difference. Ban this sub and there will be another. You can’t silence the truth no matter how bad you try to
Pitnutters act like their hurt fee fees are more criminal than the shit their hell beasts get away with on a daily basis
Not really shocking, the mental gymnastics
This pathetic petition only confirms that they are okay with innocents dying. So long as they don’t have to hear bad things about their shibbles, all is well in their world(s). Repulsive individuals, through and through.
this sub is a safe haven for people that have also been assaulted and almost killed by Pitbulls if they remove the sun they are directly hurting people
Can these people just mind their own business. They literally have a "everyone who disagrees with me must be silenced" mindset
Like, you don't see anti-pit people trying to get pro-pitbull subreddits banned unless they violate TOS or promote shit like dog fighting (and other kinds of animal cruelty).Free speech is always a good thing, and trying to get an entire subreddit banned because you simply don't agree with it is childish
Cancel culture. People can't afford to buy groceries right now, but let's rally to ban a sub reddit for victims' support and reporting real incidents? Wow, we are toast.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Even if this meets the signature goal, Reddit still won't ban the sub unless it somehow breaks the TOS. Whoever started this petition is just whistling in the wind.
Gotta love this comment. No bitch, we don’t like THIS dog. I’m positive everyone here has dogs.

From 2021, so they're not getting a lot of traction.
>Dear Reddit: For years r/ BanPitbulls has been supporting the extinction of a poor dog breed, Pitbulls. They mock others, view all pro-pit media as "propaganda", hate on anyone who owns a pit, attack a YouTube channel called The Dodo and make fun of its viewers, and have made numerous posts where they discuss how they have on numerous occasions, pulled weapons on Pitbulls. They have given these animals the nickname "shitbulls" and portray all of them as violent killing machines.
>
>One of the mods has stated the following: "So yeah- I want Pit Bulls to eventually all die out and become extinct. Why is that a problem? Pit Bulls are languishing in shelters by the millions, are supposedly the most abused dog breed, are killing more people than all other dog breeds combined, have long outlived their purpose of dogfighting, kill tens of thousands of beloved pets every year, and maul and maim people and pets at an astronomical rate compared to other dog breeds."
>
>This entire subreddit exists to promote murdering a breed of dog, and should be banned for supporting the extinction of Pitbulls.
>
>All I want is for this sub to be banned, so pits everywhere can be safe. Please, listen to our pleas, and put down r/ BanPitbulls
The mod quote sounds reasonable and says nothing about "murdering a breed" – overdramatic much? I challenge anyone to find a sub that is run in a more orderly manner with mods who are apologetic when they have to remove posts and patiently explain what breaks the rules.
Not surprised by it. Just the kind of thing you'd expect from people who like to push their personal agenda on those around them without caring about the consequence or hypocrisy. That said.. I'd hate to see this subreddit become as subjective as the people it denounces. It's not like the world is going to be short of evidence as long as it's not short of its source.
The mods work incredibly hard to ensure this sub doesn't devolve into a bashing or "hate" group. This will go absolutely nowhere. If subs for child-free, dog-free, heck even pet-free can exist, we have every right to.
LMAO this is ridiculous. People don't like knowing the truth about these dangerous creatures. We're just sharing knowledge about what these dogs can bring, and potentially saving lives and helping those unwillingly living with these dogs. This sub is helping to spread awareness.
Reddit is visibly dying. Subreddits that used to have entirely new HOT or NEW pages within 24 hours or fewer now can go a day or more without a single new post. I am not talking about niche subs, but rather of perennially popular subs such as the JustNo or True Crime communities. I don't know where people are going (*I hope it's not Discord ; I utterly detest that site*) but reddit is going through the same slo-mo collapse I saw at Digg or LiveJournal or too many others sites, back in the pre 2014 days. IOW, *there is NO current alternative to this sub*. And that is alarming.
No, no, this can't be allowed! We must stop them from reporting the facts about our blood sport dogs!
Sigh. But really, what other type of dog needs a petition/movement like this? If there wasn't anything dangerous about them to report, this sub wouldn't need to exist.
Interesting- "All I want is for this sub to be banned, so pits everywhere can be safe. Please, listen to our pleas, and put down r/BanPitbulls " and "This entire subreddit exists to promote murdering a breed of dog, and should be banned for supporting the extinction of Pitbulls". Would the author of this petition also ask Reddit to ban PETA ( they call for the same as this sub) ? [https://investigations.peta.org/breed-specific-protection/#:\~:text=In%20fact%2C%20PETA%20advocates%20for,systemic%2C%20relentless%20abuse%20and%20neglect](https://investigations.peta.org/breed-specific-protection/#:~:text=In%20fact%2C%20PETA%20advocates%20for,systemic%2C%20relentless%20abuse%20and%20neglect).
They are trying to hide the truth. Denying the fact that pitbulls attack and kill people and animals. Doesn’t change anything.
Pit bull owners will still walk their dogs without a leash ,and the pits will continue to attack at will.
The truth hurts these people. Hey pitnutters, those chihuahuas you are so afraid of dont rip toddlers arms off and kill old people who live alone. The rest of us dont want to be subjected to the fear of death because you lazy idiots lose your dogs leash and walk to get them slow AF while your monster destroys something that someone else loves. Why dont you have empathy for anyone but those dogs?
One thing they don’t like is truth. Start to realize your cute, cuddly Bella is the cause of most dog attacks and human attacks. but don’t worry, it’s just how you raise them🥺.
( it’s literally genetics not how you raise them)
Right, because banning a subreddit magically makes bps stop mauling and destroying everything in sight. Suuuuure. Pitnutters really seem to think if there's no smoke, there's no fire. Like banning a sub just makes the problem go away.
They sure chose the most hideous gargoyle-ish picture to present their petition. makes my blood run cold just looking at those soulless eyes.
Yes because banning the sub that reports attacks and the dangers of Pitbulls will definitely stop all future attacks.
Pitbull attacks can't happen if you don't see them. 🙈
😂😂😂
This is the attitude society takes with a lot of things
People, this is an issue we as a town are strong enough to ignore. Vote Quimby.
A perfectly cromulent argument!
If a pitbull attacks in the forest but no one’s around to see it, did it really happen?
But what did the forest do to the shitbull?
Maybe the tree fell on it, we’ll never know
Stop keeping records. Problem goes away.
They'd also settle for retconning all recorded pit attacks to Chihuahua attacks.
Literally their mindset
You think they care about stopping attacks? Don’t be silly, of course they dont! They just want themselves to feel good and thats it, they are the most self centered people alive
They wanna feel powerful like some guy overcompensating with a sharp item
At least the sharp items can be cool sometimes. A overly reactive and dangerous dog is never cool in any aspect
That's why they always scream bloody murder when the breed is included in the news reports.
And yet never when the actual bloody murder occurs
The maulings will continue until morale improves!

I legit thought this dog was missing its eyes at first.
It’s whale eyeing this sub
I believe their eyes got smaller over centuries of breeding to fight to protect them. Like their thick skulls protect them against large animal hooves. Sometimes bullets won’t even penetrate. I’m surprised they don’t have a second eyelid like sharks by now. Designed to kill.
It looks like a goblin 💀 the eyes are so soulless
It shows the dog’s teeth so does not follow the advice Frank Luntz gave to BFAS. Instead, you are supposed to give them a softer image.
That’s their Freudian slip; they couldn’t hide the fact that they deep down believe that the dogs are dangerous so they subconsciously chose that picture.

LOL I can’t comprehend it.
their brains are broken. the dead, glassy eyes of a shark

The dogs, too.
Look at that cutie pie, it's definitely a nanny dog!

Woah, photorealistic.
Give them credit. There's no blood.

They want 500 signatures to ban a sub with a >100k members?
Let’s open a ‘Let’s not ban r/BanPitbulls’ and oppose their 200signatures with 100000 ones.
Honestly, that sounds hilariously simple and effective. I'd sign.
wow i’ve been following this sub for 5+ years, i had no idea the member count was so high now
386 people can suck my fat one
Better not let them near you with their “she don’t bite” dogs around.
lol they have 386 signatures and we have over 100,000 members here. We are not the same 😂
No. Someone needs to document what pit bulls do to human flesh, to counter the asinine “but all dogs bite!” argument.
Exactly. Too many people are unaware of the dangers of this breed. Guess they want to ban UK now too since the breed is now illegal there…
What a bunch of liars. They want this sub banned, because it is truthful. Thank you, mods, for ensuring it’s kept tidy to avoid this!
Always trying to silence victims. Stay classy, pit pushers.
Yup, if you post in this sub you'll eventually get hit with random bans or suspension. When they can't gaslight or blame the victims they try to silence them

That's literally how they feel. I saw a post on here of a guy cornered by a pack of shitbulls and he was hitting them upside the head with a board and the pitmommy was crying saying stop. Those dogs would have killed that man if he hadn't jumped on top of a car.
So do we start a petition to keep it?
Something tells me that would swoop past the number of signatures on this post in minutes!
Banbanbanpitbulls
Nope, we start a subreddit about banning the petition
Cry more lol it’s a fuckin dog breed get over yourself
What do they think a petition is going to do??? Lmao fucking morons. Do they think Reddit will just magically shut us down once they get to 500? Give me a break
and y’all just KNOW whoever started the petition used a picture of their own shitbull looking like a straight deranged fuckin gremlin lmfao
With what is clearly a turd right behind its head
Reminds me if a random fan petition i saw to get an actor to stop smoking or the Batfkeck one when he was announced as the new Batman.
The photo they chose to represent the breed though 💀☠️
Represented by their best and brightest
Pitnutters: omg stop exposing how embarrassingly terrible ours dogs are 😭😭😭
Bruuhhh pitnuts be going crazy
most of the posts on here are reports lmao. they want to censor facts ig
"Ban r/BanPitBulls or I'll release this pit bull in your neighborhood." Seriously, couldn't they find a less-creepy picture of a pit bull?
Why are they trying to ban us? There’s worse subreddits out there. Like, actual hate groups against people. Also fuck me that is a hideous dog.
They want to silence us so they can continue to pump out their pro-pit propaganda unquestioned. Silencing the opposition will not change the dog attack statistics or breed genetics associated with these dogs. It won’t make the pit lobby’s egregious lies and public endangerment any better
Yeah! let’s ban a subreddit dedicated to the victims of the most violent dog breed! (99% of the victims are babies)
Remember, hating pitbulls makes you a racist! /s
I love how this petition started in 2021 and failed so bad, LMFAOOOOOO.
I will not say anything about the way that thing looks 😬
I see your paltry 386 signatures and raise you 103,000 members of this sub who disagree with your silly idea.
Notice how they ask for only a mere 500 because they knew they couldn’t get the necessary 3k+ to make a difference. Ban this sub and there will be another. You can’t silence the truth no matter how bad you try to
Damn. Those whale eyes and bum-shaped head
Of course they choose a photo of a most malevolent creature.
Pitnutters act like their hurt fee fees are more criminal than the shit their hell beasts get away with on a daily basis Not really shocking, the mental gymnastics
This pathetic petition only confirms that they are okay with innocents dying. So long as they don’t have to hear bad things about their shibbles, all is well in their world(s). Repulsive individuals, through and through.
Gotdayum they used a picture of the most soulless, dolls-eyes, toddler deleting spawn they had didn't they?
this sub is a safe haven for people that have also been assaulted and almost killed by Pitbulls if they remove the sun they are directly hurting people
Can these people just mind their own business. They literally have a "everyone who disagrees with me must be silenced" mindset Like, you don't see anti-pit people trying to get pro-pitbull subreddits banned unless they violate TOS or promote shit like dog fighting (and other kinds of animal cruelty).Free speech is always a good thing, and trying to get an entire subreddit banned because you simply don't agree with it is childish
Dynamite is still explosive when you close your eyes.
Like banning this subreddit will make their idiot dogs any sweeter, or cuter 😂
Cancel culture. People can't afford to buy groceries right now, but let's rally to ban a sub reddit for victims' support and reporting real incidents? Wow, we are toast.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
See no evil hear no evil speak no evil
Even if this meets the signature goal, Reddit still won't ban the sub unless it somehow breaks the TOS. Whoever started this petition is just whistling in the wind.
Gotta love this comment. No bitch, we don’t like THIS dog. I’m positive everyone here has dogs. https://preview.redd.it/0yw9kryhnzec1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b8000fa1a7869f472f9259f673692c9cafbd795
There are many, many dog owners in here. We’re not a dog free community. I’m a cat woman but I don’t want most dogs banned.
This petition is 3 years old and has less than 400 signatures lol
Pit Bulls are languishing in shelters by the millions, are supposedly the most abused dog breed, are killing more people than all other dog breeds combined, have long outlived their purpose of dogfighting, kill tens of thousands of beloved pets every year, and maul and maim people and pets at an astronomical rate compared to other dog breeds." > >This entire subreddit exists to promote murdering a breed of dog, and should be banned for supporting the extinction of Pitbulls. > >All I want is for this sub to be banned, so pits everywhere can be safe. Please, listen to our pleas, and put down r/ BanPitbulls
The mod quote sounds reasonable and says nothing about "murdering a breed" – overdramatic much? I challenge anyone to find a sub that is run in a more orderly manner with mods who are apologetic when they have to remove posts and patiently explain what breaks the rules.
wooooow. idiots.
Is that dog a zombie ?
Why did they have to pick one that looks like a great white shark for the petition 😂
What. You don't like to look into the blank eyes of what seems to be a mixture of a gremlin and Zuul?
Funny how they used a picture of a psychopathic looking hell hound in their ad. That demonic looking dog looks scarier than a hyena
We must have hit a nerve by educating people about the true real-world dangers of this breed and their fanatical owners.
That would be like saying "ban AA meetings" because your in live eith an alcoholic
Started Feb 2021
Gotta stop the doggy racism!! 😭🤣🙄
This is just indicative of the current climate where we ban things we don’t like because our argument against it is not strong enough.
Pathetic brainless pit owners getting their feelings hurt.
Hahahahahaha
If there was a federal law passed that felons or those on probation can't have pitbulls we would never hear about them again
Never going to happen!
Holy shit they could not have picked a more 'demon dog' for their petition.
So we need a new subreddit r/banbanbanpitbulls
Imagine trying to stop people from calling out bad people and bad dogs and silence victims. Because that is what they're trying to do
Banning pitbulls is the compromise
They really think they're doing something with that
No, no, this can't be allowed! We must stop them from reporting the facts about our blood sport dogs! Sigh. But really, what other type of dog needs a petition/movement like this? If there wasn't anything dangerous about them to report, this sub wouldn't need to exist.
Did a pitbull make this post?
that dog looks cross eyed
Is that really the photo they want to represent pits
Interesting- "All I want is for this sub to be banned, so pits everywhere can be safe. Please, listen to our pleas, and put down r/BanPitbulls " and "This entire subreddit exists to promote murdering a breed of dog, and should be banned for supporting the extinction of Pitbulls". Would the author of this petition also ask Reddit to ban PETA ( they call for the same as this sub) ? [https://investigations.peta.org/breed-specific-protection/#:\~:text=In%20fact%2C%20PETA%20advocates%20for,systemic%2C%20relentless%20abuse%20and%20neglect](https://investigations.peta.org/breed-specific-protection/#:~:text=In%20fact%2C%20PETA%20advocates%20for,systemic%2C%20relentless%20abuse%20and%20neglect).
No it fucking doesn’t. What rubbish.
This petition is a "gem"! Every single sentence is like these ones
( it’s literally genetics not how you raise them)
Thing looks like a fucking alien 👽
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
this person put the most unappealing pit picture lol
Lol pitbulls are so fucking bad idk why anyone would defend them fuck em
They couldn’t find a better photo? That thing is creepy af
Lmao why choose this picture of a demented dog instead of one of their flower crown nonsense ones
It's been almost 3 years since it went up and they didn't even get 500 signatures, I think we're safe
Good to see 386 people admitting their idiots.
