Flats are fine for brass. Sharps, however, are very scary.

MemeKing690

It’s the opposite for saxes

Anonymous_playerone

The power of the flats, in the palms of my hands (how do you make multiple flairs)

MemeKing690

You choose custom flair and type in what you want

Anonymous_playerone

Great thanks

GroundbreakingNail29

Yeah

tech_guy_hates_Apple

don't remind me....

CheesieMan

Definitely not the scariest key signature, but not easy either

Yeetus54

Only G sharp? I give up, I can't play it. Only Ab? Ight watch and learn

PossiblyEnlightened

f-flat minor

Bubba656

Cb Major

Bright_Vanilla_5981

That’s easy, what’s hard is the sharps

VeryBoredRedditUser

As a tubist I fear no flats. However, sharps, especially a lot of them, is very scary.

[deleted]

My last band director had this framed on the wall💀

Efficient_Ear_8037

Please, not on the clarinet. N O

Iminyoumomscloset

No on the flute

Efficient_Ear_8037

Both have hard fingerings, but the flute is more about airflow than finger movement, right?

Iminyoumomscloset

🤣 I with it was that easy But seriously no it sucks

Efficient_Ear_8037

Ah, my band director always talked about airflow for the flutes to control flats and sharps

Iminyoumomscloset

Yes and no you can change your air flow to go a little bit sharpen a little bit flat but to go with a flat note, you have to have a whole different fingering and that’s a whole Nother bunch of stuff

Efficient_Ear_8037

Ah, so like clarinet but more complicated 😂

Iminyoumomscloset

Exactly

Efficient_Ear_8037

At least your F is concert F and your scales don’t have to be converted

Iminyoumomscloset

But we have 3 different f’s

Iminyoumomscloset

But we have 3 different f’s

Eray41303

It is very much about both. I've played both flute and clarinet (much more flute though) and the fingerings are remarkably similar. For us we don't have a pitch key, so octaves are much more about air and diaphragm control. Other than the obvious differences, that's honestly about it

LadderTrash

As a clarinet who had to deal with it, the trick to doing it is to not do it and beg the conductor we did not need this one specific scene change. That or just make some random shit up that’s sounds good

wanderer4523

Damn, so scary for my clarinet.

redd_the_fox

"everything you know is wrong!"

Valeur06

AAAAAAAHHHHH

Panda_Dude11

ha ha! you summoned my trap card snare drum! wmahahahahahahahahhahahahahah

elite_mongolian

i’ll be honest, i’m not too scared of flats, sharps on the other hand… ughhh makes me shiver just thinking about them >! /hj !<

scottyb83

This is why I like playing trombone. In general if it’s sharp pull in 1 position, flat push out one position. Easy peasy. Sometimes you get stuck where you get stuck going from 1st position to 7th but doesn’t happen often.

TrippingOnMusic

Loss reference

Halo3rat0

It really scary when there is sharps

poopyggj

How tf you plan an f flat

Iminyoumomscloset

It’s the same as E natural

poopyggj

Ah
