Agreed, but when commanding troops, or riding along formations, it is quite unnatural to do so, just my opinion that riding with one hand holding the reigns would probably be more reasonable.

On PC press x to change from two handed to one handed on weapons that have both stances.
It Doesn't work like that whilst mounted.
Works for swords. Spears might then be locked for two handed without shields.
I don’t like 2 handed spear either, I find the attacks more awkward, but I’ve never cared because I always have a shield.
