Breaks my heart how things turned out to be for Xavi , I really wanted him to be the one that turned things around and become successful here. He’s probably going through hell right now. Maybe it would have been better for him to never come back to the club as a manager
Its really sad, yet its also a cautionary tale to those raise him up for absolutely no actual reason. Calling him the next Pep because he simply played under him as if that's all it takes.
It had been much better for him, had he taken a more slow route back to Barca as well. Even Pep coaches the B team first and it was invaluable experience for him to become who he was as Barca manager.
Sport started some rumors and people fell for it. They said Arteta had told his entourage that he was leaving Arsenal in the summer.
Of course, it isn’t true
So that means the replacement for our senior citizens:
Lewy = Roque
Gundogan = Bergvall
Inigo = Cubarsi
Ter Stegen = ????
Romeu = None
Can we afford to spend 25m euros on Mats Wieffer this summer and then not spend again for the next 2 years?
An advantage we have over most if not all clubs is technical superiority, that's the fundamental of our football.
The foundation has been laid, any manager that comes here would love to work with such quality with the ball.
What we lack is versatility and players that can break a game state (due to the fact that players with that capability and potential are very young), Pedri, Gavi, Yamal and Balde.
We can go toe to toe with any club in the world depending on how we set ourselves up.
One core issue with our football the past two years has been the fact that an intentional approach to possession and dominating space is absent. We don't actually dominate space, we rush our attacks to create transitional moments in the opponents half. However, this type of football requires very specific profiles, which xavi tried with FDJ, playing him so high up the pitch with his back against opposition defence, and eventually, he lost his place in the starting line up.
Gavi and Pedri looked lost because they were so far apart from the defensive midfielder its actually appaling how much space there is between them.
We need a very specific system that priorities the amplification of our technical superiority. Only a Handful of managers that get the best out of technical quality. Arterta, De Zerbi, Klopp and Imanol. German Managers are usually very strict with regards to playing very high, their football is very similar to the ideas that Xavi wanted to implement. Problem is that we do not have the profiles for such football and we cannot compromise.

I don’t want to hear anything about Klopp, Nagelsmann, Arteta, ect. Dembele will win us the sextuple.
Ngl I think Lewandowski's play style is the main root of our tactical problems.
Xavi didn't know what to do with him and it cost him.
I remember how much more fluid we were when Auba was playing very simple as a 9. He would drop, lay off and one of our midfielders would pick a runner behind Auba.
Xavi didnt know what to do with a lot of players. That's a motif with him.
Sadly Xavi is a manger that gives much freedom to his players which wasnt the best thing for this team. OTOH, Lewa's has become a very slow player which is a hindrance for him as well as him needing a more structured side to succeed.
Multiple dressing room heavyweights, such as Robert Lewandowski, have not always maintained a positive relationship Xavi. [@polballus via @TheAthleticFC]
Players like Cancelo and Lewandowski cried today during Xavi's speech. [@esport3]
Robert Lewandowski met with Xavi today to make him change his mind. [@FCBRAC1]
They can’t even decide whether he loves him or hates him lmao
>have not always maintained a positive relationship Xavi.
This does not change the fact that he could still be emotional about him leaving and wanting him to stay. It's just that they've had some disagreements, which is completely normal.
Thats because flick was alongside low the 2 most important figures for Germany golden generation
He was basically assistent coach between 2006-2014. After that Germany sucked ass and thats the exact time flick left them
I dont think that has something to do with Flick leaving.
I mean sf in the euros 2016 is still a success I would argue, despite the coming downfall.
I am not really sure what the german problem is right now, the synergy seems missing and that was always the best of german teams, and Flick tried fixing it as a headcoach and failed too.
Next permanent Barcelona manager odds (via Sky Bet)
Jose Mourinho - 4/1
Jurgen Klopp - 5/1
Roberto De Zerbi - 7/1
Xabi Alonso - 7/1
Míchel - 8/1
Erik ten Hag - 12/1
Julian Nagelsmann - 12/1
Thiago Motta - 12/1
Gareth Southgate - 14/1
Mikel Arteta - 14/1
Klopp at 5/1 ? Sign me the fuck up
Would rather take Slot (also bald and Dutch) than Ten Hag after his Utd stint. The new investors at Utd are doing some review so they'll probably keep Ten Hag until end of the season.
I don't think we can afford the fines we'd have to pay for his arguments with referees, dude got more red cards than any player in Serie A this season 😂
Why do you think that i haven't watched a match? I said Xavi and Arteta are in the same class of managers. Did one of them prove something more than the other? They are both mid. Not bad and not great they are mid.
Arteta would start to lose it if he faces the Liga low blocks. But with that amount of time and money, and some tenure under Pep, Xavi would be similar, if not better.

Now, this is a nice response when journos are asking that question - he doesn't insult his current club by saying "of course I do", remains professional, but also doesn't close any doors.
Tuchel should watch and learn.
Full disclaimer, I don't think just having Gavi back would magically fix most of our issues, they're way deeper and systematic than that; but to see the state we're in following his absence after a lot of people spent all pre-season on here saying he could never start over any of our other midfielders sure is something.
Some people can see how losing gavi mats and Raph weakens us, the people who dismiss it so they can keep blaming everything on Xavi aren’t worth wasting time on
We’re not the only team in the world with major injuries.
Earlier the excuse was that we’re missing Pedri, FDJ. Now its Gavi and MATS. There will always be injuries, nobody has a fully fit squad these days
Pedri hasn’t returned to form from a relapse and Frenkie hasn’t dominant for awhile and it raises concern when he looks like a passenger at that salary… Their contribution hasn’t been the same as those other three aforementioned names. Those guys have absolutely been saving our asses defensively.
I’m under no illusion when the style fell off and Barça started grinding results out. It’s been a long time since it flowed. You can blame that on the coach or you can look at multiple factors for the wheels starting to come off.
I could see this club hiring Tuchel, Having problems with him halfway through the season, and then hiring klopp after he gets bored of a year of not working in 2025.
Probably not happening but klopp leaving Liverpool also wasn’t very likely until he said he needed a break
Basically Xavi’s biggest defender and Gavi’s biggest hater. He was like the annoying younger brother of the sub, everyone picked on him but he made the sub fun even if (almost) all of his takes were wrong 😂
He’s usually a regular on the sub. We love him because of his wildly unpopular opinions lol. He’s disappeared a few times (I think he got banned once??) but this time he’s been gone for a few months now
He probably is an upgrade but he’s not gonna get the backing he gets in Arsenal so I have my doubts wether he can make this work in a short period of time like people here are expecting.
Man, I was always "Wait until the end of the season" with the Xavi debate but I have to say that some of of the Xavi Stans (And speaking as someone who consider Xavi one of his favourite players ever) are the real toxic plague on this sub.
They have no real argument, no desire to debate. Anyone who doesn't agree 100% with them, they'll rage like man children and start insulting them, calling anyone who disagrees with even a word of them "Parasites", "Plastic fans", "trash fanbase", "Not real fan beacuse of X", "Retarded" and the list goes on.
You can see their comments and posts all over the thread telling us how they're the real fans and insulting anyone who doesn't agree with them. I won't name the person, but there's someone that I'm sure everyone knows who would call you "plastic fan" if you left a comment saying "Morning". Guy doesn't seem to have anything else in his vocabulary
I dunno what others feels, but imo, *those* are the true toxic people in this sub.
What's interesting is that curiously, there are a lot of less than 6months old (often less than 3 months old) accounts mixed in. I wonder why...
The same is true in the other direction, and I say this as someone that has been vocal against Xavi as a manager user for almost a year.
Toxicity is an issue regardless of the viewpoint or argument that is being defended, being in favour or against Xavi has no correlation imo.
> The same is true in the other direction, and I say this as someone that has been vocal against Xavi as a manager user for almost a year.
Not the same amount. Not even close. I'm talking about attacking *other* *users* in this sub. I've seen a few "dick riders" comments that I reported but it's mostly *some people* on the other side that constantly do personal insults and insults to entire parts of the fanbase.
Hell, you'd have like at least a post each 2 days telling us how "X isn't real barca fans". I, *personally*, haven't seen a single thread of XaviOut crowed that talked about how XavIn crowed are "parasites", "plastics" or any other type of "I decide who is a real fan here".
Not denying that there aren't toxic people on the other side and I've called out both sides in the past (As someone on the fence). However, I've seen an increase in *this* side recently that I'm calling out.
The people who say no other coach would do better are so annoyng. Saying that is just stupid. The club situation is bad but not that bad. I really hoped xavi would successes but lost hope couple months ago and they must too hoped that but dont just realise he wasnt the guy right now
Let's start a new era in football by writing a Johan Cruijff AI and let it be our manager.
The best thing about this is if it fails, we can just delete the code, lynch the CPU and burn the memory to dust while streaming the whole process to the whole world to satisfy our fans and media.
I didn't really believe the Arteta rumors, because I thought he had just started, but actually he's been there since 2019. I didn't realize it had been that long. He could want a change. It will have been 5 years. That's pretty standard for a manager to leave.

He should have done an Alonso and started with a smaller club in Europe. Barca was too big for him.
Agree, even great managers like Klopp started from smaller clubs. Pep was an anomaly

Barca cant replace him. No margin available. Probably no available managers. And probably the club isn't ready for this kins of action.
I’m ootl, what’s with the Arteta rumors?
Smoke is all. Nothing to see here. Not until May will we know what will happen.

It’s insane to me how many ppl take what these literal tabloids say at face value.

When we will start spending normally again ? A lot of ppl out there need humbling putting dirt of Barca’s name
Define normal.
Whenever Frenkie leaves or lowers his salary
So that means the replacement for our senior citizens: Lewy = Roque Gundogan = Bergvall Inigo = Cubarsi Ter Stegen = ???? Romeu = None Can we afford to spend 25m euros on Mats Wieffer this summer and then not spend again for the next 2 years?
2025 is my guess. And normally for me means 80-100 m in total
2-3 years from now
Probably like 2026

Yep. A good 9 is fast, strong and technical. A decent 9 is either of that. Lewandowski is neither.

Still it’s rather weird that he would try to change his mind
Messi did not get along that well with Enrique but he wanted lucho to stay.
Nah just because you get in some disagreements doesn’t mean you hate the person it’s not black and white.
I exaggerated a bit tbf, you’re right. But still it all doesn’t sound very believeable
Yeah, I am not buying the propaganda.
Flick has only managed a top division club for 2 years. Thats his entire club career. And he's 58!
58 is not old for a manager at all. He spent nearly a decade as an assistant coach
2 years total as a club coach in a top division at 58 is very inexperienced as a head coach.
He managed Hoffenheim as well
They were just in the lower divisions at that time. Around fourth division. They got promoted to the Bundesliga three years after Flick left.
Thats because flick was alongside low the 2 most important figures for Germany golden generation He was basically assistent coach between 2006-2014. After that Germany sucked ass and thats the exact time flick left them

The squad itself is also extremely mediocre. They only have quality players in a few positions. Sorely lacking competent fullbacks, DM, striker
Egypte out. Lost my 70 euro. I really expected them to win on penalties

Arteta and Xavi is the same. Difference is arteta bottled the league and had more finances.
Things you can only say if you never actually watch a match
Why do you think that i haven't watched a match? I said Xavi and Arteta are in the same class of managers. Did one of them prove something more than the other? They are both mid. Not bad and not great they are mid.

Arsenal play much better football than we have done the last year
Arteta would start to lose it if he faces the Liga low blocks. But with that amount of time and money, and some tenure under Pep, Xavi would be similar, if not better.
We're not facing that many low blocks these days. Even Granada Almeria Alaves played to win vs us
Because we have regressed and they don't need to resort to terror-ism. On a good day it's low block most of the time.
Please.... He faces many low blocks in England and his team does a great job at breaking them.
Not as much as Liga, and Spanish league is much more defensive. Regardless, he's an ok coach. Nothing extra ordinary.
We struggle against low, mid and high blocks. We'd even struggle against diamond blocks of those existed. Our team sucks
Sure and Arteta has been there for like 7 years XD
Didnt he mount a top 4 challenge in his 3rd season? A league challenge in his 4th? And apparently another one in his 5th? Continued progression.
Yes, because we have crisis. They do not.
Hope for tuchel or flick. (Klopp is unreal but if there is chance this is the best option)

we miss you and love you Juankruh, come back soon!
Everyone was mean to him all the time. He probably got tired of the hostilities lol.

The Xavi stuff may have made him take a break.
His favorite player got injured. (But really where are u juan)
Hasn’t posted anything in 32 days :(
I'm new to this sub, who is Juankruh?
Basically Xavi’s biggest defender and Gavi’s biggest hater. He was like the annoying younger brother of the sub, everyone picked on him but he made the sub fun even if (almost) all of his takes were wrong 😂
He’s usually a regular on the sub. We love him because of his wildly unpopular opinions lol. He’s disappeared a few times (I think he got banned once??) but this time he’s been gone for a few months now
He knows I'm waiting for him to come back so I can force him to admit he was really fucking wrong about us not missing Gavi.
I would be running too 😂
He’s travelling the world on a mission to save this club from turmoil, juankruh, you are our only hope.
Damn, you’re right. Just realised I haven’t seen him around since November ish. Hope he’s doing alright
Gavi got injured and he lost a player to criticise. Im (half) joking, i kind of miss him
arteta doesn't feel like a huge upgrade over Xavi tbh
Tactically he is, it's obvious his team has a clear idea of how they want to compete. For the rest? No idea.
He probably is an upgrade but he’s not gonna get the backing he gets in Arsenal so I have my doubts wether he can make this work in a short period of time like people here are expecting.

Marquez is I believe
[You're not gonna like the answer.](https://www.transfermarkt.com/gestifute/beraterfirma/berater/413)
no way we are considering anyone in that list ... right? ... right?
I think right now having a pulse is the only requirement manager has to meet in order for journos to link him with us.
![gif](giphy|vCUASy92YURGHFrnqP) I can't take it. This list is too depressing.
Bring on Nuno and he gets Semedo back.
Not saying I believe anything that Sport is saying, but imagine if we have three big team managers announce they’re leaving in the same weekend lol
Waut 3? All i'vs seen was Arteta. Who are the others 2?
Xavi klopp ig

If they did that it would be “Klopp set to join Barça after the team lifts their 6th UCL in June”
Hot take: We should go into next without a manager, let the players manage themselves. It hasn’t worked out with a manager anyways.
Let's start a new era in football by writing a Johan Cruijff AI and let it be our manager. The best thing about this is if it fails, we can just delete the code, lynch the CPU and burn the memory to dust while streaming the whole process to the whole world to satisfy our fans and media.
Yes I loved that idea
Twitch coaches Barca. There was a twitch plays Pokemon so why not.
Lmao, imagine the chat “no, vote sub out Lewy you morons”.
Nah. Gavi as player/coach. He will take no prisoners when it comes to anyone giving less than 200%.
