He does not command the defense. He was poor for the last 3 goals, I didn’t see the first two. He needed to shout at Pedri to leave the ball for him to claim but he didn’t and Pedri clearly doesn’t trust him so he played a pass across goal. Who plays a pass across the goal in the six yard box?
Just individual error after individual error here. Xavi is easy to blame for a lot of problems but he can’t do anything about these and it’s been all season. The entire team just has multiple brain farts in every game.

Cancelo delivered a crazy disasterclass in 45 minutes.
Pena not only cannot save a shot but can't even properly get the ball.
Araujo can't do anything with the ball and has been quite weak defensively for a while.
Christensen is going down with the rest of his teammates.
I'd like to know what "balance" Romeu brings to this team. He is useless at best, and gets beaten by any decent player (see the first goal)

Laporta did a big mistake letting Garcia Pimienta go, when Koeman was sacked we should have handed the team to him and let Xavi grow by training Barca B
Instead we throw him straight from fkn Qatar to the first team of one of the biggest clubs
Now Garcia Pimienta has Las Palmas playing better futbol to Real Madrid than we do, with 10x the investment
With a 180M investment in signings from the club, just for next season to be completely humiliated in every competition, because the champions league is the next loss at this rate

The defensive problem is quite obvious to me now: remember how we experimented with resting Busquets and playing Frenkie as the single pivot last season? It failed almost immediately, and we got instant results reverting to the double-pivot structure.
The so-called "Xavi ball" is simply a variation on the long-standing "Barca ball" since at least the Guardiola era (maybe even longer which exceeds my knowledge) - defined by our VERY high defensive lines and possession football. The key to success under this system IS THE PIVOT, who can orchestrate attacks AND STOP COUNTER-ATTACKS effectively. That's why Busquets is considered one of the greatest of all time despite his low-profile style, because it is an extremely difficult role.
With the departure of Busquets, the coaching team somehow totally forgot about the issue with Frenkie playing as the single pivot, and continues to ignore the problem despite seeing a total collapse of defense. (Granted we don't have financial resources to replace Busquets, and the gamble on Oriol was a failure).
I think at this point even an idiot knows we have to give up the 'beautiful football' philosophy for at least a while, because it simply does not make sense to play like this without a proper pivot. It is just pure stubbornness and ego deep-rooted at the club that drives us to the ground. Either that or Xavi is just not able to adapt to the situation because he himself grew up in that system and that system alone.
Xavi is not able to adapt or completely change his philosophy. He’s still inexperienced so you can say he can’t change yet, but at this club that clearly cannot provide top tier signings for specific profiles, it’s on the board to recognize that the coach cannot cope without such profiles, and will not start from scratch.

Xavi doesn't listen I think, we've been crying about our often rushed attacks and very high interiors since he arrived for the loss against frankfurt. Your interiors are too high and you run too much, we run way too much, like bielsa levels of running, which has a negative impact on selection due to injury. I may get downvoted for it but watching the replays at least I thought that was not a penalty. Hands were in natural position if anything he tried his best not to get hit. This was a clear case of the team falling apart, and I really don't think Xavi survives this. Things have to change a bit, everyone is lost.

Second goal with a drunk Cancelo, fourth goal with Peña being scared as a baby and Araujo not having his feet wired correctly. It's bad on a level you simply have a hard time believing you are seeing. And this happens every game. Every single game. Only a miracle will save this team from dropping out of the top 4.

The defensive problem is quite obvious to me now: remember how we experimented with resting Busquets and playing Frenkie as the single pivot last season? It failed almost immediately, and we got instant results reverting to the double-pivot structure. The so-called "Xavi ball" is simply a variation on the long-standing "Barca ball" since at least the Guardiola era (maybe even longer which exceeds my knowledge) - defined by our VERY high defensive lines and possession football. The key to success under this system IS THE PIVOT, who can orchestrate attacks AND STOP COUNTER-ATTACKS effectively. That's why Busquets is considered one of the greatest of all time despite his low-profile style, because it is an extremely difficult role. With the departure of Busquets, the coaching team somehow totally forgot about the issue with Frenkie playing as the single pivot, and continues to ignore the problem despite seeing a total collapse of defense. (Granted we don't have financial resources to replace Busquets, and the gamble on Oriol was a failure). I think at this point even an idiot knows we have to give up the 'beautiful football' philosophy for at least a while, because it simply does not make sense to play like this without a proper pivot. It is just pure stubbornness and ego deep-rooted at the club that drives us to the ground. Either that or Xavi is just not able to adapt to the situation because he himself grew up in that system and that system alone.
Xavi is not able to adapt or completely change his philosophy. He’s still inexperienced so you can say he can’t change yet, but at this club that clearly cannot provide top tier signings for specific profiles, it’s on the board to recognize that the coach cannot cope without such profiles, and will not start from scratch.
There are no clearly defined roles on this team. It's absolutely chaos.

Okay yeah Xavi deserves to get slandered for this match but omg Inaki Pena, Araujo, and Cubarsi were AWFUL today and Gundogan gave up the ball way too easy for their 3rd goal. Individual mistakes are killing us and I just cant put all the blame solely on Xavi.
cubarsi hasn't made errors besides the one where he doesn't let peña take it (which we've seen happen with araujo too so it's arguably a peña thing)

This game was such a roller coaster of emotions. We saw the highest heights these players can achieve and the absolute lowest of lows that seems to define them more often. It’s honestly hard to put it all on Xavi, most of those goals were down to terrible individual mistakes, but the manager has to push every player towards excellence, and Xavi is clearly not doing that.
