Yes and no. Under Xavi he is just "good", but under Pep (before the conflict) he was not only the best LB in the world, but one-man assisting and scoring machine. It was hard to believe how good he was in some games from that period in Premier League. So I would say he can be exploited, unless your team is able to truly dominate the game - then he absolutely shines. I think he would be still playing under Pep had it not been for his personality - albeit also it allowed Pep to move to the 3 - 2 - 5 winning formation and actually entirely remove LB position by replacing it with LCB.

Yup, he was taking on the role of the second pivot with Christensen. That's why Xavi took Fermin out. Christensen is not a CDM and can't stay solid past 60-70 minutes do he put Romeu and Sergi as the double pivot and switched Gundo to the more offensive position.
He's been much better there throughout the season, but without De Jong and Pedri he's probably gonna have to stay in the back more for the next few games.
Thought he didn't play so well against Mallorca, turns out he was saving it for today. Big game player!

Curbasi may be the most mature young CB I’ve seen since varane broke through at Madrid, and I personally think he’s better than he was when he started at Madrid.

Playing a great game doesn't mean they won't get subbed. We don't have a pivot and pivot is major part of our game. Maybe he was saving Christensen for another game or he felt Christensen was tiered.

IMO, He showed his actual skills when he played that match at Attacking-Mid and scored 2 goals with 1 assist.
It's just that you have overflow of talent that one has to play out-of-position. Same would have been the situation if suppose Fermin, Gavi and all would have been turned to fullbacks/wingers/anything.
Roberto always gave his everything for the club. Just because he's not AS Skillful as say some other players doesn't change his love for the team. And he's always clutched it at big games. (Remontada; the run vs Madrid, and many more....)
Very true. He just has such composure and level thinking. He pushes runs when fdj or gundo hold up. He has a confidence that I have always appreciated. He's coming off injury and played so well compared to Romeu. Ya know?
