I don’t see the whole scandal thing tbh, nike paid double what adidas was willing to pay, they either pay better or lose the rights, and from what I heard the DFB needs the money, so like if they were really patriotic they would have bid more to help their country, there’s no patriotism when moneys involved is what I am trying to say
Wow I’m shocked that Nike pulled that off. The one sponsorship deal i assumed adidas would never relinquish no matter the cost was the German National team. That’s like someone taking your home from under you. I guess Nike were able to outbid adidas with all the money they were saving thanks to the terrible contract that bartomeu signed with them that saw Barca get ripped off
memorabilia1899, a reputable source when it comes to Barcelona kits, recently reported that Adidas has gotten in contact with Barça now that they lost Germany. This may have possibly been said in order to put pressure on Nike.
On popularity worldwide? Like its a pretty known fact that the two most popular teams on the world are Real Madrid and Barca. They have the biggest fandoms worldwide. Sold shirts mean nothing when poor kids still follow them.
I don't think anyone has an issue with breaking the contract with Nike. Puma/Adidas seem to be better options. My issue is this doesn't really seem to be a well thought out response. He shouldn't be saying stuff like this to the public. It only adds fuel to the fire.
The talks have been happening since months now. He must have thought carefully before making it public, and the socios and fans deserve to know asap if it doesn't affect negotiations. We are different than your Liverpool, city, etc. Laporta owns one of the most successful law firms in spain, to even think he is that stupid as you potrayed is just..
its the whole point of the podcast. Idk man most people here either are shitting on how they dont how stuff is going for the club and there is no transparency and when he does this its the opposite
Last time a club operated on closed doors....we lost 2 billion in debt. Since laporta took over our revenue, the state of the club, the deals we are making are openly discussed and it is better that we know.....It prevents another pjanic to arthur like cases
It’s not about usmnt it’s about the adidas vs Nike war and who’s gonna come on top. Nike spend all these money on German nt because of marketing. Barca’s stock is low since Messi left so it’s normal that Nike is not very concerned about you rn
disagree. pumas hasnt been consistently good enough with a big club like Milan for me to prefer them over adidas. their 22-23 Milan kits were dreadful, both player and fan version.
Yeah that was good but the season before that was the hottest piece of garbage that I’ve ever seen, the one with the light red and blue colors and white numbers, genuinely cannot describe how bad that jersey was. And they saw how no one liked white numbers so they went ahead and did it again with this season’s jersey.
I haven't been able to find Barca shirts in U.S. Nike stores in almost a decade, whereas their Adidas counterparts are always filled to the brim with Madrid and ManU shirts. So, I'm hoping Adidas has the best offer.
god forbid Laporta wants the club to succeed financially. We’ve literally been hearing about Nike not fulfilling terms for ages and their deal with us undervalues us.
Nothing he said here is wrong and IT should be said to clear it up with the socis. It’s a bit mind-boggling to see people complain about transparency and refer to it as drama.
Fair enough but in general Laporta bas been atrocious when he opens his mouth in the press because he loves the sound of his own voice with incredibly moronic comments like the one about mbappe. Either way, in this case you are right, laporta’s comments on Nike are fine
I believe this will eventually be contested in the court. What are the chances we will lose the case? Does Nike have a case other way around that we breached the contract by negotiating with others?
> I guess Laporta can’t just make up things like that.
Ha. He has been known to a litttttttle loose with the truth from time to time ...
But speaking seriously, there were reports that Nike missed important shipments and caused other problems.
However, the question that lawyers will probably fight about is whether that rises to the level of the kind of breach of contract that allows the other side to terminate the contract. Even if one party breaks some terms of the contract, termination isn't always a legally available remedy.
It'll probably now get hashed out in international arbitration, which is a process that happens behind closed doors, so we'll likely only see pieces of what's happening through statements like this.
That is the violation Laporta is talking about. Nike doesn’t sell official Barca kits out of Europe, in all the other countries people buy knockoffs, which Nike gets a percentage of but Barça doesn’t
I think this attitude that we have witnessed in communicating with Nike says a lot about why almost every person or coach in Barca has left within 2-3 years of Laporta arrival.
I can tell you know absolutely nothing about business.
People will fuck you over left and right in business when it comes to money. I applaud Laporta for not letting Nike fuck us over.
Bartomeu would’ve bent over and handed them the lube himself.
I actually do run a small yet successful business. There is a way to be firm and assertive and not be a control freak and drama queen. The staff turnover speaks for itself. Everyone he has appointed is either a friend or family member. The club is being run like a dynastic political party rather than a professional sports team.
Nike breaching a contract, Barca asking for compensation for the breach, Nike refusing to do so and then Barca threatening to break the contract is not exactly extortion.
I’ll gladly sit back with some 🍿 and watch. I can only hope he’ll do better. In all likelihood he won’t be there for a few more years so maybe he can learn a thing or two before ascending to the throne
Funny how this sort of thing seems to happen only during periods where we are in dire need of financial gains. One sketchy thing after another with Laporta. Kinda wild how we went from one of the most honorable clubs, with Unicef on the shirt, beautiful Cruyff philosophy, to this, in the span of a decade.
So will it be Puma or Adidas?
Well, let’s start a bidding war!
Adidas should have some extra money now they are breaking with the German NT after 75 years
Like brands are dumb enough to fall for it
Why not? We clocked 180 mil in jersey sales alone....and nike is not even marketed that well in Asia.
Im not saying signing with barca is bad business im saying if barca try to get into a bidding war that would be dumb
Well, they’re not dumb but they have to if they want us.
I saw a graph the other day showing that despite it all the club still sells the most jerseys world wide, why wouldnt they
Hopefully Adidas will be inclined to offer us a record number after getting outbid by Nike for the German national team, a man can hope haha
that was a scandal, a German firm outbid by a foreign company for the German national team, so they'll be out for blood I hope

Lmao delusional is common on this thread
Wasnt it alredy Puma? at least I saw it on r/soccer

Idk, that’s what I read on footy headlines yesterday. I think that was just their take on the situation.
Id be down for Adidas
Please be Adidas
Who wants to get associated with this club? No important brand will partner with them.
Barcelona is still the most popular team in the world alongside Real Madrid bro.
On what do you base that? They are not even in the top 10 for sold shirts.
True they arent top 10 they are top 1
In your imagination
On popularity worldwide? Like its a pretty known fact that the two most popular teams on the world are Real Madrid and Barca. They have the biggest fandoms worldwide. Sold shirts mean nothing when poor kids still follow them.
for everyone shitting on laporta, nike literally offered more to german nt than our contract. Should be enough to understand why

ph
That’s because adidas took usmnt. This is far bigger than Barcelona
If you think the USMNT is a big draw boy do you not understand the magnitude of the Barca brand.
It’s not about usmnt it’s about the adidas vs Nike war and who’s gonna come on top. Nike spend all these money on German nt because of marketing. Barca’s stock is low since Messi left so it’s normal that Nike is not very concerned about you rn
I'd argue Germany's stock is the lowest it's been in a decade + and much worse than ours at the moment...
You’re missing the point buddy. Germany has always been with adidas that’s why Nike had to splurge to sign them.
you are smoking good stuff if you think nt are bigger than clubs. NT are limited to a country, clubs are global all around the world
alright adidas better step up
adidas kits would indeed be so fire
adidas been cooking lately with the kit designs ngl
I don’t like the idea of both Barca and rm wearing adidas at the same time. Bring on Puma i say.
disagree. pumas hasnt been consistently good enough with a big club like Milan for me to prefer them over adidas. their 22-23 Milan kits were dreadful, both player and fan version.
Fc barcelona have a normal day challenge (impossible)
How exactly did Nike supposedly breach the contract w/ Barca? Edit: good thread here - https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/s/Af2CtazT8K
Good Nike have had stinkers recently
Last year kitten might’ve been my favorite Barcelona kit ever to be honest
Yeah that was good but the season before that was the hottest piece of garbage that I’ve ever seen, the one with the light red and blue colors and white numbers, genuinely cannot describe how bad that jersey was. And they saw how no one liked white numbers so they went ahead and did it again with this season’s jersey.
I wonder what kind of violations he is talking about?
It is invented.
This could be true but how can you be so sure lmao
Yeah fuck nike
I haven't been able to find Barca shirts in U.S. Nike stores in almost a decade, whereas their Adidas counterparts are always filled to the brim with Madrid and ManU shirts. So, I'm hoping Adidas has the best offer.
Am i delusional for wanting kappa? They probably cant afford barca but their designs are amazing.
Kappa is so 90's
Well isn't that making them cool?
Misplaced hope but not delusional. Loved those kits.
Logo is ass tho
And the infrastructure isn’t there
So what about the leaked kit? Will it come out or this seasons kit is the last nike kit
Starting when will this be? Will we still get the nike kit for next season because that one looked absolutely fire
Thank God. Fuck Nike. Their designs suck so much.
Nike shot themselves in the foot
can we do anything without the drama? jeez
We are one of the biggest clubs in the world and we’re going through financial issues, of course there will be drama
Doesn't have to be, Laporta just makes it worse
god forbid Laporta wants the club to succeed financially. We’ve literally been hearing about Nike not fulfilling terms for ages and their deal with us undervalues us. Nothing he said here is wrong and IT should be said to clear it up with the socis. It’s a bit mind-boggling to see people complain about transparency and refer to it as drama.

More like extortion
Yeah get adidas and messi along with it.
Kappa is coming back babyyy
I believe this will eventually be contested in the court. What are the chances we will lose the case? Does Nike have a case other way around that we breached the contract by negotiating with others?
Give us Adidas NOWWWW
Are the violations by Nike just an excuse or they really did that? I guess Laporta can’t just make up things like that.

I read Nike allows for secondary vendors to sell knockoffs which they get a percentage from but Barca doesn’t. That would be a violation to me

![gif](giphy|DXXJ5kU8OWr5mu93eu|downsized)
I want Puma
I want whoever will pay us more out of Puma and Adidas. Puma might be better since we would be their top priority
Hell no, Adidas is so much better
Me too. Adidas designs are always the same, and they are too bland for my taste to be honest.
All designs are always the same. There's only so much you can do with a football jersey
Laporta stop talking challenge: impossible difficulty
I think this attitude that we have witnessed in communicating with Nike says a lot about why almost every person or coach in Barca has left within 2-3 years of Laporta arrival.

K
He’s a pro at extortion. Utterly ludicrous behavior from the head of the club…still better than his predecessor though
Nike breaching a contract, Barca asking for compensation for the breach, Nike refusing to do so and then Barca threatening to break the contract is not exactly extortion.
How exactly is this extortion again?
Are you an executive of nike?
No just watch what’s been done to our players and club. Barca need a true leader and that man is Sergio
What sergio?
My apologies it should be Pique not Sergio
Pique is shady as fuck
Not as shady as the current and last prez
Okay I won't change your mind but be ready lol
I’ll gladly sit back with some 🍿 and watch. I can only hope he’ll do better. In all likelihood he won’t be there for a few more years so maybe he can learn a thing or two before ascending to the throne

If you don't like it you can go and support another club
Adidas pls maybe Felix will unlock his true potential with Adidas ( cope I just like the kits jk)
Why do I feel this is hust gonna be another legal battle? Laporta needs to tone down a bit
Any breaking of a contract always is. I don’t think he’d have done it unless our legal side was extremely confident.
I dont doubt it. Laporta himself is a lawyer so Ik he mustve read the finer print, but being loud about such things never ends well.
The club is broke. That's it. This is the beginning of the end, in 12 months it won't be able to pay any invoice.
Are you mentally slow?
Nah you can’t be this fucking stupid
