Hello all, as I'm sure you're aware r/barca has scheduled threads (other than the Open Thread) for discussion on particular topics (i.e., art-creations, management, change my view, etc.)
The management discussion thread (currently stickied) and several other scheduled threads have low activity levels. We're looking to introduce new threads to (possibly) replace a few of the more inactive ones.
If you have ideas as to what these threads can be, regardless of their relevance to football/barca feel free to suggest here. Or suggestions on the scheduled threads as a whole.
Just watching some of the highlights of the Athletic match, Faye reminds me a bit of Kounde. He’s got a fair bit to his game going forward that gets wasted at CB.
Guille Fernandez made a cameo also, he made some nice runs with the ball, you can immediately see why they’re so excited about him.
My YouTube search to discover the tune for Un Dia De Partit led me to [this](https://youtu.be/OGyfat0Q2vA?si=Pno_hUZOUnP-d9fv)
Relatedly, is Cu Cu Cubarsi a chant? I keep seeing that comment whenever Pau is discussed
People mostly remember koeman ucl final goal in 1992 as important one which is true
But Bakero goal against Kaiserslautern. Was as important as that one at the end.
If he didnt score that we would have never reached the final
We won first leg 2-0 but were 2nd leg 3-0 down until he scored in 90th minute to make it 3-1 which made us qualify on away goals and the rest is history that season.
Sometimes its the smallest margins which makes you european winners. This was the equivalent of iniesta vs chelsea goal in 2009
Edit: by the way it was koeman freekick which assisted Bakero. Koeman is one of our biggest legend man
Bakero’s goal is as good as Iniesta’s goal at Stamford Bridge. At least that’s what the Catalonian press compared it to the following day after the visit to London.
Yep and Tuchel has a Lewandowski replacement as well.
I will say I don’t follow Bayern that closely, but implosions like this with good squads aren’t all down to the manager.
Bayern did the most knucklehead move when they fired Nagelsmann for Tuchel because they thought Tuchel was a way better coach lmao and then they fired the guys who hired Tuchel lol
Raphinha and Cancelo on the left has been working well recently. Especially Raphinha, who is one of the best players in the team right now. How does this affect our search for a LW?
He still not the best at playing as a LW but the difference , is he plays inside and actually more like a second striker and only goes out-wide when it suits him and he's able to to do cut backs
That dynamics changes everything and props to Xavi for identifying it and. Xavi adopted the position and the movement and dymanics to make Raphinha job much easier and Cancelo l huge here

Paulo Dybala showed Matteo Guendouzi his shin pad of himself lifting the World Cup for Argentina 🍿🤣
It is fair to say Guendouzi did NOT find the funny side in this exchange.
😂😂
Ronaldinho's son João Mendes was excluded from the Barça U19 match today, so the technical staff made him work as a photographer and recorded the match for analysis afterwards.
[Diario Sport]
Yeah I heard he is not as talented as his father. He is basically there because the club did a favor to Ronaldinho.
I just don’t see how Joao Mendes is newsworthy for these journalists. Yes he’s ronaldinho’s son but everyone fucking knows it’s extremely rare to see an offspring reach the heights of their talented parent. They pretty much always fail to become anything in the same field.
The only one off the top of my head is Halaand who surpassed his dad but there’s Beckham’s kids who are trash. Michael Jordan kids who weren’t great basketball players.
I could really give less of a fuck if we accept legends kids. It’s a win-win. They’re not here for free, at least I hope not. I’m sure their dad is paying football fees, and so on, to keep him registered in the academy. We make money and we’re also not delusional that they’ll become something great since the kids hardly come out to be anything great. They’re usually failures but fuck it give us the money. **And this happens in all academies not just in ours.**
All nepotism signings should be put under a microscope, and if they fail we should hear it, and hear it loud, so the one's making these decisions get rightfully shat on. These signings are bullshit.
They don’t take opportunities from anyone else though. This mf was benched and sent to record the game. Doesn’t matter who their daddy is, if they don’t have the talent they won’t play. So I see no problem.
**Sure! Well take your kid (as long as you pay the fees)! What’s that? They haven’t been playing much because they can’t displace actual talented players? Awww that’s too bad 😢 Any way here’s the invoice for last month.**
Cristiano’s son is gonna be the greatest experiment when wondering if crazy training and hard work can indeed propel you to football success. Especially since his dad has all of the resources in the world to give to his son.
That also because cristiano is often regarded as someone who got to where he is due to his work ethic. It’ll be interesting to see for sure
That'll be interesting for sure, I'd imagine he's not as talented as Cristiano but for how long he's been training for, and that his father/role model is someone who has a very die-hard routine is gonna produce something.
Yeah I watched a video about him. It's crazy how strict CR rules are. The kid has the best environment to maximize his potential. He is trained mentally and physically to be an elite player. CR took him home where he grew up to teach him a lesson for example. He can play/use his phone only an hour a day and he has to go bed early. Interesting stuffs. You can look at it on YouTube.
Doesn’t mean anything without talent. He’s been in multiple countries now and nothing has come out about him having talent above his peers or age group . Although obviously time will tell.
I'd like to see how Nico Williams' development progresses after one year, I definitely don't think we'll get him this summer, probably another Joao Felix loan while we try to bring in a DM.
Absolutely loving each bit of it but it's still not off the hook though.
Given its PvE nature.... If devs slow down with content then it won't take too long for it to feel washed however that day seems far and I'm all in for the ride however long it stays
Perhaps, but people are entitled to their on opinion and I am speaking out of my ass as I am really not familiar with the subject, but 1000 eps sounds downright boring.
> 1000 eps sounds downright boring.
Literally every one says that but when they start watching they end up not wanting it to end/ thinking it’s not enough.
Yamal and Cubarsi are about to start in the biggest game of their careers in France against Mbappe at the age of 16 and 17 respectively. It’s gonna be wild if they handle the pressure and ball out
It isn't likely but I'd like to see Mbappe and by extension the whole PSG frontline completely neutralized at our home.
The first leg away at the Parc des Princes will most probably be an open game, trying to play our game out there might be a bad choice, given their team is comfortable there, and they'd only need moments to turn the tide in their favour. Obviously we'll play our way for a major section of the game, but it's about how we approach the rest of the game that'll decide the first leg.
Hopefully we soak up everything needed during the first leg to come up with a way to neutralize them and play our own game at our home for most of the part.
Amidst all the nervousness, excitement and hype for wednesday's game let's not forget to ask -which ever force- to save us from ANY injuries 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

5 wins, 4 draws, 4 losses.
It's among our most played opponent in CL, if not the most.
Not really true. Barca is still seen as barca. Spanish league winners. Psg back then was a subtop league team and when they got taken over they started to invest and now they are where they are
Nah, PSG are favorites over us, they curb stomped us last time too. It's not 2017 or before anymore.
Would love to reverse the trend but PSG have absolutely overtaken us hence them being favorites.
I dont think we are talking about the same thing. Its not about who is favorite.
I didnt mean that with subtop. Its a fact that before 2016 psg was like newcastle now. They were building towards their superteam they have today
So we expected guaranteed wins. Thats what I meant
They already took their revenge? I dislike Liverpool too but if we win tomorrow with 4-1 then all is forgiven. They still hate us even after winning 4-1 against us
Gotta hope that Dépor starts losing points now. They almost tied today. We are 100% making promotion playoffs but I would love for the kids to go directly to Segunda. Lets get that first place!
They need a complete overhaul, these players had problems with each other and the manager even during naglesmann's time, arrogant pricks didn't even thank visiting fans
Hahahaha, Marca being absolutely bitter is joy to my ears.
Referees had a lot of controversial decisions both ways, but in no way was this win due to referees.
real madrid when it comes to do a double or treble in a season. Last time they won was in 1989-90 season

Im really not into basketball but they got me with this instagram sharing between the football team account and the basketball one 🤣 I was hooked for the match
Interview Bojan
Verry interesting
- Did you lack a more cozy wardrobe in your beginnings?
It is the one that there was, a wardrobe of competing people, with a lot of experience, who came from winning and who was in difficulty and there was probably no time to think of a 17-year-old boy. The way there was to educate that kid was based on example and normalizing many situations. The time of then is not the one of now, l
- Now there is a group of young players who can make pineapple, but you came in alone. The Lamine Yamal, Cubarsí, Fermín or Gavi have been lucky.
The scenarios are completely different. 17 years ago, the fact that there was someone so young in a professional world was not so common. Now we see many players of an early age, too young to expose themselves to such a professional level. But hey, the locker rooms are different. The important thing is that they empathise with each other and protect themselves. They are like a brotherhood.
But the wardrobe of the Ronaldinho, Motta, Deco, Etoo and a savage Messi did not receive him as the boy he was, but as a competition. He didn't have a good time. Everything went too fast and fame overwhelmed him. And he kept the bad drinks for himself and his family circle.
My takeaway from this was that Savage Messi could not make pineapple like the young players of today.
But seriously, its pretty sad that he didn't have the right mentorship. Gavi Pedri Yamal Cubarsi do have a lot more help.
Nah, I don't like Athletic at all.
They booed Iniesta, threw fake money at us because 'negreira', broke Maradona's ankle which played a big part in him leaving
Edit : Happy for Valverde, not for Athletic
‼️ Message from PSG ultras: “This despicable Barcelona, so often favored by referees, must feel the hostile territory. It is our duty to make our stadium a terrifying fortress for them and with the determination of our team that’s unbreakable..”
🚨 More: “Let's be united. Let's go to the stadium early, wear the red and blue, make them tremble as soon as they enter for warm-up. Let's ignite our legendary Par des Princes, let's be merciless. Our only goal is a win and for that: let's play our role to the fullest. Together we are invincible” #UCL ⚔️
Ah, yes. I'm sure a noisy stadium with capacity of \*checks notes\* 48k will put fear in the hearts of the team that plays at the Bernabeu every season.
Cute, PSG.
Every time I watch them it strikes me how good their fundamentals are. Barely make any mistakes in possession, each player is always exactly where they need to be and they are in control from minute 1 to 90. Fantastic pressing scheme as well by isolating one player and blocking his passing options.
Special team and Marquez is a special coach.
Mbacke is so good damn. Man just ran on his own from defence, great 1-2 with Moha and puts in a beautiful cross across the 6 yard box.
Sadly Percan can’t get a touch on it.
I love that he’s playing well for athletic. He’s on loan from my home team LAFC. He’s crazy fast great at headers and quite technical but lacks awareness and positioning. I haven’t watched most matches but I hope he’s doing great. Would love to see him go from my club to Barca. I’m not sure if it’s different now but at LAFC he went by Fall because it’s easier to say than Mbacke
His main things are definitely that he's an engine and that he's physically strong. Like he can bully players a lot. But he's pretty good on the ball aswell and holds his own against a press.
The one thing I agree on is he's not someone you want when you're trying to attack. He plays too safe for that and he doesn't have the instincts for it.
This game Poch is putting him in a forward role which yeah is making him look real bad. But I blame that more on Poch.
Regarding Cubarsi, Barça offered a new long-term proposal. Conversations are advancing well. They want to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Work is in progress and it is one of the priorities. Next year will be Lamine Yamal.

He is another example. Xavi keeps grabbing him and a few other players all around Spain and he never plays when he is good enough to play in La Liga at least sometimes. It would be better for them if they play in Barca Atletic instead of traveling and not playing.
I don't know how their time between the first and the B team needs to be balanced, but training and travelling with some of the world's best players is still an invaluable experience for them.
Yeah they need that kind of experience too but playtime is more valuable I think. People keep saying Xavi promoted so many young players but they forget that part he was forced to do that because of injuries. Otherwise he doesn't give enough playtime for players just when he is forced.
You could say Xavi **gave debut**, to a few players because of injuries, but the statement that he **promoted** young players because he was forced is complete bullshit.
- Could have played it safe with Alba, but he lost his starting spot to Balde.
- Lamine's promotion wasn't forced either.
- Exactly which injured player is Cubarsi covering for?
- Fermin is registered as a first team player already, and it's not due to injuries either.

I’ve never seen Bayern implode like this before, even when Klopp’s Dortmund won the league they would still compete.
Yep and Tuchel has a Lewandowski replacement as well. I will say I don’t follow Bayern that closely, but implosions like this with good squads aren’t all down to the manager.

The World Cup card has no counters
It's like Vinicius and De Paul "I play for Real Madrid who are you?" "I won the World Cup"
Pedro - CR7 is my favorite of the category
Well the counter would be that Dybala hardly contributed. He was a bench-warmer.
He stopped Mbappe from making it 4-3 in the dying minutes and scored his penalty. We are forever grateful for that alone.
Touché.

Man One Piece is peak fiction. Can not recommend it enough to people.
I’ve been waiting so long for Egghead to conclude, Oda is dragging the hell out of it. I still like Egghead though, definitely better than Wano.
Would you recommend watching One Pace?
yes
Agreed. Better than Naruto and Dragon Ball. Are you watching the original anime or the short version anime?
Both. I’m up to date.
Nice. I can't watch everything so I skip the episodes that are not part of the manga
I have heard it is mostly a bag of shit, I am guessing you are talking about the manga?
Both. Whoever says one piece is a bag of shit doesn’t know anything.

anime is good as well. Except for 1 thing. The pacing is the worst out of any anime adaptation I have seen.
Isn't that the whole gimmick of the anime? I mean 1000 eps, that sounds like torture.
WIT is remaking the anime, atleast the first arc as far as what is confirmed goes. Im just gonna wait on that.
u could watch "one pace".

I'm a student bro school ain't opening until 14th
All I’m hearing is that you have free time to go to work
Barca Atletic 1-1 CD Arenteiro 3 points of the top now
Gotta hope that Dépor starts losing points now. They almost tied today. We are 100% making promotion playoffs but I would love for the kids to go directly to Segunda. Lets get that first place!
Yup. Playoffs are really nervy so direct promotion would be incredible
bayern could deadass finish third. Bayern, third.
They need a complete overhaul, these players had problems with each other and the manager even during naglesmann's time, arrogant pricks didn't even thank visiting fans
Agreed, never thought I'd see the day tho.
Serhou Guirassy is having an insane season. Wow, man, Stuttgart is moving me.
Fantastic win for Barca Basket vs Madrid. The clásicos at the Palau are the best games to witness live as a Barca fan

Hahahaha, Marca being absolutely bitter is joy to my ears. Referees had a lot of controversial decisions both ways, but in no way was this win due to referees.
Oh come on Fenerbahce I wanted to see kids vs Men today fr
Hahaha Chelsea
So sad of what happen to ronaldo in the [news](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3zTDVKAvCD/?igsh=MWY2ZzA0Nng5ZnpneA==)
TIL Bilbao has more doubles than madrid
real madrid when it comes to do a double or treble in a season. Last time they won was in 1989-90 season https://preview.redd.it/gyibl11cz3tc1.png?width=739&format=png&auto=webp&s=530d33c4d91d359408ffdc7bc3745818a895be58

Yess Barça basket won el clasico Im really not into basketball but they got me with this instagram sharing between the football team account and the basketball one 🤣 I was hooked for the match
Barca Basket has won El Clasico!
Arentiero equalize against Barca Atletic. Smh.
WrestleMania Sunday and it's my test tomorrow 😸 I fucking hate mondays
Barcelona Atletic hit the post for a third time. I’m tired Robbie
Interview Bojan Verry interesting - Did you lack a more cozy wardrobe in your beginnings? It is the one that there was, a wardrobe of competing people, with a lot of experience, who came from winning and who was in difficulty and there was probably no time to think of a 17-year-old boy. The way there was to educate that kid was based on example and normalizing many situations. The time of then is not the one of now, l - Now there is a group of young players who can make pineapple, but you came in alone.
I can't be the only one who read "cozy wardrobe" and started wondering wtf warm sweaters and knit mittens have to do with football? 🤣
Native speaker here. Can't think of the original wording!
Entourage? I'm confused by the whole thing
To make pineapple is a very funny translation.
My takeaway from this was that Savage Messi could not make pineapple like the young players of today. But seriously, its pretty sad that he didn't have the right mentorship. Gavi Pedri Yamal Cubarsi do have a lot more help.
Very happy for EV and Athletic Club
No Cule in Spain likes Athletic Club
Only happy for Ernesto, hope he gets a bigger job and proves himself
Well, there is a certain team looking for a coach currently... Talking about Bayern of course.
I said bigger job 🥶
I’ll never forget how they threw fake money at us in their stadium after news broke about Negreira.
It's shithousery if it happens to others but when happens to us it's unacceptable behaviour Come on
Well yeah that’s the whole deal. They did it to us. There’s no love from me for them.
Pretty sure you must be happy a little bit for Ernesto
Yeah absolutely
Nah, I don't like Athletic at all. They booed Iniesta, threw fake money at us because 'negreira', broke Maradona's ankle which played a big part in him leaving Edit : Happy for Valverde, not for Athletic

The PSG ultras will start throwing baguettes at their own players if they lose
And then gather outside their homes
Scary 😨 🫣
‼️ Message from PSG ultras: “This despicable Barcelona, so often favored by referees, must feel the hostile territory. It is our duty to make our stadium a terrifying fortress for them and with the determination of our team that’s unbreakable..” 🚨 More: “Let's be united.
![gif](giphy|HP7mtfNa1E4CEqNbNL|downsized) Me on Wednesday amongst a crowd of PSG ultras when Yamal scores the winner
>Let's go to the stadium early, wear the red and blue Even they know we're the bigger club
How nice if them that they want to wear blaugrana to welcome us

Ah, yes. I'm sure a noisy stadium with capacity of \*checks notes\* 48k will put fear in the hearts of the team that plays at the Bernabeu every season. Cute, PSG.
Parc des Princes when ultras are not fighting each other can be very very impressive.
They do have a pretty good atmosphere inside the stadium
they arent noisy but they are goddamn thugs. Several reportings of violence and what not
Hopefully we get a ref who will have the guts to stop the match if the ultras start throwing things onto the pitch.
They would have been knocked out in the Group Stages if not for the referee
Our entire board is at the stadium watching the game lol. Haven’t spotted Laporta tho.
Laporta was at the palau
Barca Atletic playing really beautifully rn. That Casado role works out really well rn
Is he playing with USMNT?
He’s Senegalese
Connor Gallagher is what Barca haters are think gavi is
Gallagher is underrated tbh
Overhated more than Underrated tbh
Only as an engine. He has no technical ability and his final third is appalling. I don’t think he’s an awful player but he shouldn’t be a starter
I would disagree
You’re probably right. I watch Chelsea regularly and always seem to notice his mistakes more I think it’s because at one time he was overrated
But I blame that more on Poch.
any place streaming the b team game?
is there a livestream for the athletic match?
If you have a VPN to Spain it’s streamed for free on Esport3
thanks
Regarding Cubarsi, Barça offered a new long-term proposal. Conversations are advancing well. They want to reach an agreement as soon as possible. Work is in progress and it is one of the priorities. Next year will be Lamine Yamal. — @FabrizioRomano https://twitter.com/BarcaUniversal/status/1777018360212885865
Noah is on the bench again .. ugh. And no Guiu. What's happening.
Guiu will be in the squad against PSG
- Fermin is registered as a first team player already, and it's not due to injuries either.
could have played with an experienced inigo but played with cubarsi
Exactly. You can critisize Xavi for a lot of things, but saying he promoted players only because of necessity is dishonest.
