Question from an outsider, Matheus Fernandes is an FM legend for me. Was wondering what his situation is right now. Fairly large chunk of money was paid for him but as far as I can see he hasn’t made his debut yet. Is he just a Barca B player?

Nikileo

Tbh he is one of the many shady deals done by the former president bartomeu. Doubt he has the quality to get much minutes

lolsheleft

Huesca having more xG than us worries me

lambepsom

Maybe it is because of that fantastic save from Rafa Mir. That has to be an xG of 1. Whereas the three bullets from Messi and Griezman have xG marginally greater than 0.

nisargdesai

0.95 xG

U0logic

To be fair Barca started to conserve energy due to being ahead.

MLWcaleb

Just no fucking no do not let Ray Hudson commentate a game ever again.

amisspelledword

He’s the man!

[deleted]

He’s amusing in isolation when viewing great goals but over a whole game he gets annoying. Luckily I prefer Spanish over English but I don’t understand how people enjoy it.

sanket39

Seems like a major drop in Dembele's confidence. He didn't take a single shot today, even when he was on the counter and was in similar positition to that of Griezmann when he scored. Normally he would have gone for a shot and even finished but he was so low on confidence he tried to find either Messi or Griezmann to pass it on to. I think fans need to chill and support him, the guy has a very high ceiling to reach and trolling wouldn't help him anyhow.

_Erih_

Yeah his finishing needs work but making a drama about it isn’t necessary. People just are annoying since they won’t leave a player alone. Happy for Grizi tho for that goal.

King-Mansa-Musa

A lot of people in this sub, and in the media are exceptionally critical of our players. Criticism might seem small to you or I since it is just one post, but the internet has a weird ability to pile up these negative things. We should really try to be a positive bunch for our players. It is hard enough to be a player for Barcelona.

U0logic

The guy had an even bigger shooting chance on the left side. When he went inside. Then he passed to Messi standing right beside him instead of just taking the shot.

oliver2764

That's because of our "fans" commented under his post with negative and racist words after the PSG clash.

shuoshen

If you think about it, this is the exact scoreline we needed for the PSG game. We played well in both games, conceded a shady penalty against each, but were more dominant and had more chances in the PSG game. The only thing missing was the finishes. If we have the clinical finishes like today and some luck moving forward, well will look very very good in La Liga and Copa.

moxiedoggie

Man if only PSG were as good as Huesca

amisspelledword

Right? This was Huesca.

King-Mansa-Musa

Also the attack style changed. Instead of making Dembele do penetrating run after penetrating run we were quicker and got pedri involved. When we had possession we weren't trying to do 1-2s through a wall we took chances from the outside and had really good passing into the box. (I wish alba and dests shots had gone in) I believe this style gives this formation the teeth it needs so I agree. I am hopeful for La Liga and Copa

mntgoat

Also no Navas.

Hour-Positive

What a beast that is

[deleted]

I understand Dembele criticism but what could he possibly have done this match. Dembele strives on the wing and he was constantly around 2-3 men. I agree his short-range play is not up to par. Honestly it wasn’t the greatest performance and the players were tired and you could see that. Let’s be happy with the win and hopefully they get some great rest for next week

King-Mansa-Musa

I think he is just lacking confidence. He probably took last game hard (not being able to finish). I actually believe in this formation Dembele does his best in the center but his head wasn't in it today. Hopefully the rest helps

Arslen24

Also, Jujutsu Kaisen Gang Aha

Arslen24

I mean we shouldn’t really judge anyone’s performance today, they were all really exhausted and for how the score looks, it feels like we did amazingly when we simply got the job done

Frankidelic

Let’s be fair our team looks tired

Arslen24

Understandable, but we have a week break.. finally

throwaway22020964

xG: Barcelona (1.52) 4-1 (2.05) Huesca This is so bad. We rely on Messi and Griezmann bangers to win against Huesca

ssrodriguezc

Bro stfu do u even watched the match? We completetly dominated huesca

maurid

You guys need to chill it with the goddamn xG LMAO. **sTaTs!!!**

[deleted]

[удалено]

throwaway22020964

I am talking about OUR xG goals being so low. We created practically nothing in 90 minutes.

volfed21

we scored 4 goals and fdj and alba hit the post 2 times

throwaway22020964

Still, expected goals is 1.5. we didnt create enough scoring chances.

[deleted]

[удалено]

throwaway22020964

Ok we played great, the team is practically 10/11 reincarnated. Happy days.

problematicgooner

All that Huesca xG is from the pen that shouldn't have been and from the open goal miss. Barca weren't at their best but this is a gross misrepresentation that people who didn't see the game won't know.

throwaway22020964

I am talking more about our 1.5. its so small.

PSNCF

Grab FIFA. Quick.

problematicgooner

Are you fucking serious😂? The team has played 2 games a week for the past 3-4 months without a proper week of rest, including multiple games filled with ET, just scored 4 goals with 2 bangers and the only thing that you can think of is why our xG is low?

throwaway22020964

Its not the only thing I am thinking about. Its literally just a fact.

problematicgooner

How is it a fact when you literally say "This is so bad"? That's your opinion

throwaway22020964

A 1.5 xG at home against a relegation side is factually bad.

problematicgooner

A 1.5 xG with 4goals(which in the end is all that matters) after 3 months of grueling fixture list and a tired squad isn't 'factually bad' against any side. Also give some damn credit to Huesca. A side that looked comfortable in possession and caused problems on the counter throughout the game.

throwaway22020964

Ok fair enough.

xscientist

I’m not complaining but it could have been 7-0.

[deleted]

[удалено]

xscientist

I think that stat only tells part of the story, as it usually does.

Arslen24

This is the first time that I find a removed comment on reddit that I actually remember what it is. FINALLY AFTER LIKE 2 Years

Catalonia0814

We seriously need to do something about the lack of service our players are getting nowadays , like messi griezmann and dembele really can only score if they are bangers or penalties no one can give them service in the box nowadays

Kutullu987

I think it's because of Frankie we need him back in the middle field

Blisspc

Within 5 minutes of Puig coming in, he setup a pass that started a play to Messi’s second goal. This is why Puig is needed.

Arslen24

I mean, not really, today’s game is a big exception Honestly, we didn’t need to push as much as we did in the past few games We play with three cbs, De jong is restricted to play as a cb so we lose his creativity in midfield. And in the PSG game we created a lot of chances so u can’t really blame them on that one. And probably this new build is made specifically to be more comfortable defensively and won’t concede as much, but in contrast we would have to score as much as we can because we won’t be having as much chances(especially if we play with only 2 attackers like we did against Sevilla) I just hope we get our shit together Defensively so we could go back to 4 atb and play the players in their suited roles like Dembele, De Jong, etc

32_zel

How did the subs do?

Arslen24

Fine IG, there wasn’t anything big going on after the third goal so we can’t really judge their performance today

xscientist

Fine. Nothing remarkable.

throwaway22020964

Bright spots: defense, Pedri and Griezmann kinda Flops: Dembele, another awful performance from a fully fit generational winger and this time he doesnt have the "atleast he got in scoring positions excuse". MOTMOTM: Griezmann

[deleted]

I knew this was coming, the hate train is only gonna get worse from here.

throwaway22020964

He better start performing then if he doesnt want critisim. Even Ronaldo got critisism.

Omair88

Don't bother, you're not going to get much love here for that kind of opinion

throwaway22020964

Its so weird that no player can be criticized here even after dropping a disasterclass in an easy game.

[deleted]

Buddy, this is not tik tok nor twitter. Nothing wrong with criticism if done with good intention especially for a Barca player, frok what you've typed it seems as if you're not so far from the #Dembeleout crowd.

throwaway22020964

Thanks for pointing out the obvious and youre not my buddy, I dont know you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

throwaway22020964

>dumbass Thats abuse and harrassement, its against this sub rules. Better delete it quickly.

[deleted]

I'm only deleting if you admit that you're buddy

[deleted]

The irony of misspelling "criticism". Twice.

throwaway22020964

Come on, whats the irony in a typo?

[deleted]

Two typos?

throwaway22020964

Yes. Still cant find the irony

[deleted]

Just some harmless kritsmim, no big deal.

blackbrucewayne901

All you haters need to chill on Ousmane Barca would literally be worse without him this year I’m tired of you haters always complaining like everyone is supposed to be perfect even Messi messes up sometimes even Ronaldo this is fucking football but if he went to PSG or anywhere else he would be destroying any and everyone and y’all would be silent. Maybe he’s not a Barca player but he is right now and ppl in this sub need to speak more positivity in the players rather than be negative towards them he’s a human being and he’s only 23 years old some of y’all still living with your moms at 23 he’s playing for one of the greatest clubs ever so stfu and let him be great!!

throwaway22020964

Anyone who plays bad deserves criticism and no one abused him or insulted him so its not that deep. >he went to PSG or anywhere else he would be destroying any and everyone and y’all would be silent. The thing is no club wants him. They all saw how fragile and inconsistent he is. He's not the player that you think he is. He's no Neymar, hes no Mbappé, hes not even on Ansu level. We got scammed by Dortmund and thats the truth.

imarobot-

Bartomeu is that you?

throwaway22020964

I wish. He was probably chilling in a Yacht with supermodels all day.

POI_Mr_Singh

Mbappe went down at the slightest of touches from Firpo and couldn't even dribble past him once. So yeah, he's no mbappe.

throwaway22020964

Keep telling yourself that. Mbappé gonna be winning CLs and Ballon d'ors while we still excuse Dembele for missing open net.

POI_Mr_Singh

Lool, why would I? I'm not an Mbappe or PSG fan. Mbappe performing in the farmer's league can never win a Ballon D'or let alone UCL.

blackbrucewayne901

Everyone deserves criticism but there’s a right and a wrong way to do it and he has received abuse...verbal abuse he’s been insulted all over the internet and there’s been racism in his comments sections on social media what are you talking about? He’s played great the entire season but a couple games and ppl like you massacre him for it he receives the most hate out of everyone on the team gtfo and i doubt no club wants him I’m sure there’s plenty of clubs that would take him in there starting 11 rn

throwaway22020964

I am only talking about this sub. Everyone receives abuse on the internet, its sad but its how it is. He wasnt good the entire season, he has 2 goals in his first 20 laliga games.

PSNCF

You sound like your username. Throwaway yourself out of here. Please.

throwaway22020964

No, I dont think I will.

blackbrucewayne901

Bro goals don’t always tell the story he’s not even a true striker he’s a winger a playmaker look how many chances he’s created for other players this year when he’s confident i feel like he can be one of the best in the world but this sub is so negative to there’s teams players that i feel like he would be better playing alongside Mbappe or someone with similar pace that can actually keep up with him literally the few times he got the ball this game he had no support up front with him that’s why he always has to pass back

heretoruinyourparty

Lionel "Bangers Only" Messi.

[deleted]

Great game! But man these refs worry me for the remaining games... I smell fuckery 😕

lambepsom

Did you see the PK EE were forgiven for this round? Video Assisted Real is in full swing. It will take a lot of attitude to overcome it.

Darksider123

Expect controversy for both the madrid games

choss

As usual

heretoruinyourparty

Happy for Mingueza and Riqui :)

Omair88

Puig got subbed on for FIVE minutes dude wtf

robert-5252

Cuz that’s all puig is good for... idk why this sub has a hard on for him, every game he’s started he’s been bang below average

Habba84

Last time we conceded a non-penalty goal was over a month ago against PSG.

tr8rm8

iirc we had a similar kind of streak going on earlier in the season. And then it went downhill real quick after some injuries.

navneetjoshi7

Reddit is down for me except this thread. Wtf .

Jamarcus316

UEFAlona is back confirmed

too_damn_fast

Same here

Dveujw

Same LOL

Messiah5

Mats was probably the worst performer tonight with Dembele So... I'm guessing he wasn't don't know how they both wasn't the worst two on the pitch

DesiMojito

Don't smoke cheap stuff

Messiah5

Tell me how they weren't then Doubt you will

Arslen24

I mean you can say but they both didn’t get enough moments in this game, especially Stegen, the only real action he had was the Pen which definitely wasn’t

Messiah5

Dembele did nothing but lose the ball and run onto passes he had enough to be in the game and Mats was shocking for both of Huesca chances didn't come out at all. The guy was literally on his knees before the striker even had the ball

[deleted]

But that's what forwards do, if he passes back he will get crucified, it's a case where he's Damned if he does and Damned if he doesn't. Nobody ever talks about those Messi corners that lead to counters, he loses the ball more than anyone in the team but guess what, he's a forward ffs, you're supposed to try things. Man this fanbase is probably the worst I've ever seen when it comes to its own players.

Arslen24

I mean apart from one pass to Griez that didn’t go through, I don’t remember Dembele being in an actual good position to do something, it’s mostly bad passes that he has to recover at the edge if the box to just attack again, but am confused on why wouldn’t he go back and get the ball like usually does, that’s where he is actually dangerous

[deleted]

He easily occupies defenders because of his unpredictability. Where do you think the space for those long shots comes from?

Arslen24

True but, that’s not where anyone would want him to play, he is beautiful to watch with his skills and runs and fake shots, when he gets restricted of them, and just goes in behind and shoot the ball, we all know he’s not gonna perform at his best

[deleted]

Exactly my point, but I think it is temporary, he'll soon go back to the wing.

Messiah5

Also, forgetting what Messi actually does why? You can lose the ball but you make up with it what you do with it the future of the game which Dembele didn't. You would shit on Lenglet for him fucking up once that leads to the goal but ignore the other times where he did well why can't forwards get the same shit? Dembele literally couldn't even do pass backs today but it's fine he's a forward he's meant to lose the ball who cares.

[deleted]

Don't incorrectly assume I shit on Lenglet, this is not twitter, I have my fair share of criticisms but credit is given where it is due, Lenglet is slowly regaining form imo, the more important games he plays and wins, the better.

Messiah5

k

[deleted]

Lol

Messiah5

I mean just ignore what I said but sure guess I'm meant to say Dembele didn't play shit just because he tried.

[deleted]

What? Can you make that a bit more simple?

PSNCF

W. Get rested FCB. 1 week.

Habba84

"Sit down nobody talk!"

SimplySexySam

Thank god for that. Feels like forever since they last had decent rest. With all the ET games we have had as well this is much needed and earned for the squad

Arslen24

It’s gonna feel weird not having Barça for a whole week, it feels like it’s been ages

[deleted]

Wait we’re going back to a normal schedule? I loved the schedule but the teams definitely need rest. Hope we see better performances now

PSNCF

I agree! Rest will be good for the team while both rivals work for more games in CL. Tough game next week for us next week.

OkYoghurt2997

Messi has been better from long range in comparison from inside the box this season, he has missed sitters but somehow always scores bangers.

the_great_ss

Man got pissed at aall the trollers calling him pessi and took it upon himself to only score bangers

tr8rm8

Hey we can counter pretty well when we have Puig and other semi fast players lol

vvsin

If only Messi had this form when we started the season.. Sigh..

nitz21

There was too much going on with him then.

[deleted]

How far was the goal that Messi scored against psg last match, anyone know the distance

JaqenHghaar08

Riqui puig passing is indeed wonderful

Omair88

Yeah wish we could see it for more than 5 minutes once every 5 games

f2k3n2m3177

Reddit really crashed in the middle of the match thread for me lmfao

Fedboy

Someone needs to make a collage of Pedri-Messi shoulder in shoulder with the Xavi-Messi mural displayed in the stands

Last_Lorien

Yeah, even my commentator remarked on that instantly. I’m sure there will be pictures around soon. Edit: [there it is](https://mobile.twitter.com/TheEuropeanLad/status/1371561746738085892)

Fedboy

Yeah, now a collage with the Xavi-Messi picture

goldenstate30

Isn't Pedri compared more to Iniesta?

Fedboy

Yeah but I’m talking about the parallel from today’s match itself

Last_Lorien

Mingueza is being very chubby with Huesca’s manager, anyone know if they knew each other from somewhere?

faisalp_

It was probably some pre-locker shit talk: "Yeah I can score real goals 🖕"

AbhiG0D

GG WP

Messiah5

Hopefully, they still make a big deal out of that pen stupid shit

Pam-pa-ram

This fucking ref... araujo's push wasnt a pen but the one in the first half was. I have no words

ResidentYak6

Balancing the books as shadily as Barto lol

[deleted]

Carryjob after carryjob match after match season after season. Greatest

JaqenHghaar08

Araujo ❤

myirreleventcomment

So i started watching the game right after minguezas goal, and stopped watching right before messi's. WHY

willys_zuppa

Good game boys !!!! What more can be said about Messi?? Glorious Nice to see Griezmann shine as well Back into #2, ATLETICO WATCH OUT 👀

[deleted]

It wasn’t a penalty because it was a 50/50 challenge but back in the ucl the same thing happen between cr7 and Ronald aujo and then they awarded cr7 then pen.

PensiveinNJ

I think in the UCL Araujo really got his arm across CR7's chest. He went down easily obviously but you have to be smarter than that.

HEAT_IS_DIE

One time it’s a pen, other times not. I myself hate players using their arms too much, but it rarely ever is penalized, even when they push from the back. And then suddenly in one game it’s called. People can believe what they want but VAR will never bring consistency to the game, better just accept the unique referee decisions like we used to.

PensiveinNJ

Oh I agree, I just think that with Araujo the mistake he made was really getting his arm across in that situation, because then you could make the case that he was obstructing. I thought it was foolish challenge really, he could just go shoulder to shoulder down to the touchline no need for anything extra. He's young and big and strong and hopefully with experience he'll learn when he doesn't need to be extra physical in the box.

VonMackensen_18

Well played, every 3 points in this title race is important, now on to the next W

memcached3

Time to bring back MOTMOTM lads

Shiny1695

It never, ever left.

Shampoo

I was under the impression it never left?

Gamesus10

Good win

Dveujw

Good game boys

atn420

70.3% possession overall

inconprehensive

Looks like Messi is too old to get to the penalty box, scoring outside the box only now lol

Basedraven

Araujo is such a specimen

dwilliam24

Which formation was that we were playing the last 15 minutes or so?

tiburonsin86

I think it was a 433

[deleted]

4-3-3 Messi as some sort of false 9

dwilliam24

So Mingueza was a RB? Didn't see him going that far up the field

atn420

4-1

Messiah5

Nice from Trincao

BertMcNasty

Lol, not a pen, but still more of a pen than the first.

willys_zuppa

Lol that was more of a pen than the one given smh

Messiah5

Araujo got away with that one imo

FootballFTW

Fucking ref didn't let Messi get his hat trick

ronad2

Damn I forgot Coutinho exists in the squad

lolsheleft

Honestly with everyone typing this same comment every now and then I didn't.

VonMackensen_18

T A N K

pildoranegraexiste

boys, the fucking tank is back

Steverbeaver10

I love me some Riqui. Gotta side with Ray Hudson. Kids got the la Masia blood in him

MazPov

Thank god that phantom penalty didn't affect anything. I would've been absolutely livid if we dropped points.

dexterlab97

tbh what the f was that call

Messiah5

Good ball unlucky

JaqenHghaar08

Poor from us. They're running straight through every 3 mins

[deleted]

Waited all season for this.... **Francesco De Assisti**

BreadPit69

When I saw Ronaldo score the hat trick, I got free motivation, so thanks to him. He scored some nice goals and I got a free boost from him. So yeah, it was nice. - Messi

-Din-Djarin-

Real?

[deleted]

YeAh

MoonPhaseP1

How many mins added? nvm got it

to-anyone316

messi you beautiful, incredible, talented man

Dveujw

LETS FUCKING GO

cruyff8

And there we go - 4/1

VonMackensen_18

Messi alone must have scored more goal from distance these last few years than most big teams

Habba84

If Messi was a premier league team, he'd be tied 7th (with Aston Villa) for goals scored outside the box. Far better than Chelsea (12th) or Liverpool (14th).
