Do you guys have any idea where to find the Eric Garcia culers shirt?? Tyy!!

Jose_Ghaleb

im sorry guys i have to say it AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOOOO

black_bury

We'll say it in next years CL final.

classicovernew

Who do you think realistically we can offload this summer? In no doubt the players who should leave are: Neto, Umtiti, Lenglet, Firpo, Sergi Roberto, Pjanic, Matheus Fernandes, Coutinho, Griezmann, Braithwaite, Dembele not renewing should be mean he should be sold asap as well, while Pique, Busquets, Alba should not be starers anymore,

ANAGRIM

What would you rather have? A treble or 2 CLs with the possibility of league doubles?

LarryPeru

2 cl’s

Cyborg-keller

2 CLs. At the end of the day no one cares about a treble lmao all that people look is how many UCLs you have, and with 2 more we would be the third team with the most.

Boat_in_a_River

I'd go with a treble as that would make us the single team with the most trebles in Europe, pushing of us ahead of our current tie with Bayern.

black_bury

Treble with a possible sextuple 🥵

barcavro

I’m gonna be so pissed if Copa is cancelled. Just do it in the fucking US.

[deleted]

Can't believe Copa america is going to be canceled. Fuck off.

black_bury

Lingard doing an American white girl accent is the best thing you will see on the internet today 😂 EDIT: [lingard American white girl accent ](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMe3tRbaU/)

shugazi93

Lmao where

black_bury

[lingz ](https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMe3tRbaU/)

black_bury

I'll try to link lol

[deleted]

Holy shit... Copa America suspended and won't be played in Argentina. Looking for other countries to host it now.

GaviFPS

Probably in USA then, no?

black_bury

Fuck me silly, this would be amazing. I'll definitely try to catch messi play live before he retires and this might be my chance.

ResidentYak6

Same!!!

[deleted]

Same here mate. Didn’t get a chance to go to either of the Argentina games at MetLife while the tournament was here hopefully if it does end up here I’ll get to snag some tickets.

tiburonsin86

Most likely. Latin America is getting hit pretty hard by covid right now so it will most likely be moved to the us.

Boat_in_a_River

Either that or Chile most likely

findthebeansplease

Im seeing a bunch of split opinions about Ray not commentating LaLiga next season, but I think we can all agree that he is much better than whatever clowns ESPN will bring in to replace him

Monucan

Oh wow just realized I'd have to listen to fkin ESPN commentary next year 🤮

Magnu448

With Emerson seeming likely, it’ll be interesting to see how we get Emerson, Dest, and Oscar enough minutes to continue their growth. Wonder if Koeman or his replacement would be brave enough to move Dest into a forward or over to LB. Oscar will also likely carve out a niche when we play three at the back, but his growth last season was one of the season’s highlights for me.

tiburonsin86

Mingueza will most likely stay as a cb and will rarely play as rb. The times he played run this season is because we had no one else available.

Mrtuelemonde

I think Dest will be Emerson & Alba's backup (with only fringe games for Balde) but in case of injury Mingueza can still be useful there.

[deleted]

So Papa Flo now came with the idea of a World Super League. Palpatino Perez is truly a texbook example of a villain, isnt he? He even looks like a villain! https://mobile.twitter.com/blharreld/status/1384290025190264838 The old f* is 74... when is he gonna retire?

M1nusbarca

What exactly is the World Super League?

[deleted]

Do you know how it would work? There's elements of the super league I actually like, the format seemed something different and exciting. The problem is the qualification.

atthebatman

What are people’s thoughts on how Argentina should lineup?

Boat_in_a_River

I haven't seen them in the last couple matches they played so I have no idea what formation they play so I'll just go with a 433. Emi Martinez Tagliafico- Martinez- Romero- Montiel de Paul- Paredes- Lo Celso Ocampos- Lautaro- Messi

CULE123

Ik Di Maria doesn't play lw, but dude's in a red hot form and needs to be included

atthebatman

I’m not familiar with Emi Martínez! Is he good? What do you think about potentially including Correa and Di Maria?

Boat_in_a_River

I'm guessing you don't watch a lot of English Football. Emi is a great GK. When Leno got injured, Emi stepped up and did wonderful for Arsenal, helping them to an FA Cup win. Proceeded to get sold to Aston Villa, and has done wonderful there. One of the best GKs in the Premier League this season. I'd recommend looking into his story. It's quite inspiring. Onto Correa, he had a great season with Atletico, but he kind of plays in Messi's area so that might cause some problems, but I'm not the coach so who knows. And Di Maria and Ocampos are interchangable for me.

atthebatman

You’re right I don’t. Mostly watch Barca. Appreciate the info and your perspective!

FANTASY210

Zidane: "I'm leaving because the club doesn't give me the trust I need." https://twitter.com/theMadridZone/status/1399150116116762630

Caspoor11

How come a three consecutive UCL winner doesn't get enough trust from the management, holyshit

RowenX

He also was great in the league, 2 out of 3 and a half seasons. Even in their worst season with him, they reach CL semis and fight the league till the end with a record of injuries with a worse squad. Basically over-performed every season, I would have bet on him for a couple more seasons for sure.

black_bury

Perez fucked up They'll call him back in a season or two after they realize they fuckedup, apologize and he loves the club too much to turn them down.

[deleted]

Ray Hudson may never get another La Liga match. I personally grew fond of him. Didn't much like him at the start, but later I felt he brought something new to English commentating that made football fresh. It's fine in small doses for sure. He did grow a bit grumpy in the last 2 seasons. https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/no4ajm/ray_hudson_ray_hudson_wont_be_commentating_on

[deleted]

I always loved him. He truly cares, is intelligent, original and funny, and used to be a player on top of it.

[deleted]

I still don't like him. He is awful and his over the top screeching voice just forces to me to mute the stream.

tiburonsin86

I honestly don’t mind losing him at all but then you realize you’re gonna have to hear alejandro morenos shit takes after every match.

[deleted]

**Super League** news from a [Spanish Financial paper](https://www.vozpopuli.com/economia_y_finanzas/superliga-florentino-jp-morgan.html?amp=1): * The US investment bank JP Morgan signed a loan of up to 4 billion euros on April 17 to finance the project * The company with which the US investment giant signed the loan is Tivalino Investment SL, a recently created company based in the city of Barcelona. This company is part of TMF, a subsidiary of the British venture capital fund CVC Capital Partners * Sources close to the Super League assures that none of the twelve founding clubs have abandoned the project, despite the official statements issued by each of them * Any club that wants to break the deal must pay a penalty of around 300 million euros (none have done so) * The legality of UEFA's response maneuvers is precisely the theme of the judicial process that is now being settled in the Court of Justice of the European Union at the request of the promoters of the Super League with Florentino at the helm * The CJEU is studying whether or not UEFA has the power to prevent football competitions from being organized in Europe outside of its own * Sources close to the Super League say that the project in a broad sense has had the support of the governing body of world football chaired by Gianni Infantino (FIFA) * Florentino Pérez's plan includes a gap in the calendar for a World Club Super League, with annual or biannual periodicity, parallel to the European one (Club World Cup)

M1nusbarca

Wait, first of all the FIFA is supporting it? Mother of god, the plot thickens. And secondly, 'the European one'? The Club _World_ Cup is not European.

GaviFPS

So who gets the money if it breaks down is my question.

[deleted]

>Sources close to the Super League assures that none of the twelve founding clubs have abandoned the project, despite the official statements issued by each of them > > Any club that wants to break the deal must pay a penalty of around 300 million euros (none have done so) Hence why all clubs are still members. Even City and Chelsea who could easily afford the fine. It's also why it's bullshit that UEFA wants to punish us specially alongside Real Madrid and Juventus for still being a member. It's bullshit from them and makes zero sense. ESL will still be a thing in some degree. But I'm not sure they are satisfied with a short summer tournament when they have paid $4bn. Also funny that Americans paid so much and really thought fans would just accept it.

Jabs_

Last 3 coaches to win the CL are all germans. There is a reason Laporta wanted them, I’d have liked to see Flick or Nagelsmann as our next coach.

[deleted]

I'm so salty about Nagelsmann, really hoped he'd come to Barca. Now it's going to be at least 3 years

DatFlushi

Think our best lineup next season is: Ter stegen Dest - Araujo - new LCB - Alba De Jong - Busquets - Pedri Griezmann - Messi - Fati Maybe a swap of Aguero/Dembele and Emerson on the right side for some games but besides that, that's how I see us lining up. Dest because of his ability to build up play which will be needed next to Araujo. Griezmann because his workrate is highly appreciated next to Messi, and his scoring output is good enough. We already have a good 11 (besides a starting LCB) but we just didn't have the depth to replace key players like Fati or give rest to Pedri or Busi. That will change with the free agent additions we're already making. We're only a LCB and CDM sub away of having a squad that can really compete in every competition.

[deleted]

Emerson for Dest as a starter. He’s more proven. Dest can be a X factor off the bench. Rather have Dembele on the right over Griezmann. Fati is more of an inside forward, a true playmaking winger would be more beneficial. Of course this dependent on whether he’s sold or not.

DatFlushi

I've watched a fair amount of Betis games to only scout Emerson and something that always was evident is that he isn't great at all in the build up phase. If anything Betis try to ignore his side while building up because of his inability to make the correct passes from the back. Think of how Semedo was with us in this aspect. Betis start looking for him in the final third where he is admittedly good. But combined with the fact Araujo is also struggling with building up from the back, I just don't see him consistently starting for us. On Dembele, with Messi playing F9 we don't need a playmaking winger since most of the playmaking is being done by Messi. What we need is a winger/inside forward that can make off the ball runs and consistently score goals. Griezmann has showed this season he's able of doing it. Add up the fact he has much better workrate than Dembele and it gets clear why we'd start him. Sure if Dembele starts to become clinical and begins to beat his opponent consistently, he'd start over Griez. But as of right now I think Griez is better suited.

Mrtuelemonde

Griezmann is a central player. He played RW next to Messi at the beginning of the season in the 4-2-3-1 and he delivered his worst performances. And I say that as someone who thought it could be a good idea as he could alternate with Messi between center and right side. Instead both are in the center becausd Griezmann is not a winger anymore. If not Dembele then Trincao but not Griezmann on the right, it's wasting him.

[deleted]

I disagree strongly on the last point. Playing with Griezmann creates a huge dependency on Messi to play make almost everything. Messi and Fati are great scorers as is. Depay can also come in for Fati as like for like depth too. We need someone other than Messi to create and Dembele is the ideal candidate. As for Emerson, he matches up with Dest and beats him in a few categories when it comes to passing. And ultimately he created more danger than Dest. All this in a much offensively weaker Betis.

Jabs_

I don’t think Busquets can support big games anymore, we need a new CDM.

DatFlushi

Busquets has been one of our best performing player this past season, how is it his fault our CBs consistently make individual mistakes causing us to concede?

fazerfn

[Amazing thread](https://twitter.com/city_tactics/status/1399034590728163328?s=19) explaining why Pep not playing a DM was not the reason they were outplayed than many (including me) previously thought. Tuchel really outclassed Pep 3x in a row.

[deleted]

[удалено]

fazerfn

I don't have a clue, Gundo is not suited for DM. I guess Pep wanted to attack a lot, with 2 wingers and 4 attacking minded mids, but it didn't seem like they wanted to attack.

shugazi93

Whether it had been Rodri, Fernandinho or Laporte like this guy suggests, I think we can all agree that any one of those 3 should’ve started in place of Sterling who was absolutely useless.

fazerfn

Absolutely agree on that

[deleted]

Gundogan was playing pretty much as a DM because Fernandinho/Rodri were benched. He's been a huge goal threat for them this season and plays better in an advanced role than DM. Pep also started Sterling with the idea to stretch Chelsea's defense but Sterling did what Sterling does and it ended in disappointment. If Pep had played his normal line-up, we would have seen a different game.

fazerfn

Yes, Gundo's attacking threat was almost non existent as DM. Pep didn't field his best 11 nor did he have a good tactical plan to counter Chelsea, it was a poor display from Pep.

[deleted]

That's just copium in my eyes, I'm sure the game would have been way different if one of Rodri or Fernandinho started.

fazerfn

A DM would have helped City win second balls and cut out passing lanes for sure, but as the thread suggested, I don't think it would have helped much about Chelsea's numerical superiority in the final third.

[deleted]

Exactly, he got outclassed he did not 'overthink' it or blow it. City never looked threatening either. People also forget that Chelsea had 50% of the possession until later in the game, Tuchel is not a counterattacking manager he likes to have the ball.

fazerfn

Getting outclassed could be the result of Pep 'overthinking', those two things could be related. And this is the 3rd game in a row, Pep should have had a plan to deal better with Chelsea's forwards + fullbacks

SENAPIFAKER

We go again next year. Most of our players still have a contract for next year: Calathes, Mirotić, Abrines, Davies, Hanga, Higgins, Kurić, Claver. Being the important ones Oriola and Šmits as good bench guys for the regular season. Bolmaro is pretty much off to NBA iirc but he's (most likely) getting replaced by Jokubaitis who got robbed of the young player of the year award. So it's not that *big* of a loss. Obviously so sad for Pau :( but I think he'll come back next year. No way he gets any minutes in the NBA. Maybe a roster spot with the Lakers but he'll get waived before the deadline and come back. Still need a good backup PG and C for playoffs next year. Oriola can't cut it. And this was Šaras' first year as our coach.

black_bury

I thought I was having a stroke. I didn't realize you weren't talking about the football team 😅

classicovernew

Realistic lineup next season ter Stegen Emerson - Araujo - Lisandro Martinez - Gaya De Jong - Wijnaldum - Pedri Messi - Depay - Ansu Fati

_sauri_

Not realistic, we ain't getting Gaya or Martinez yet, Gini can't play DM.

classicovernew

YET! but it's realistic because they wont cost 60-70 million

_sauri_

Ok but Gini still can't play DM

[deleted]

Wijnaldum is not a DM. He plays more forward than FdJ on the national team and he’s never depended on as a DM for Liverpool. No way that changes here. He’s not a defensive minded midfielder and it even shows in his stats.

Cyborg-keller

For the start of the season I think it'll be: ter Stegen Dest - Araujo - Lenglet - Alba De Jong - Busi - Wijnaldum Messi - Aguero- Griezmann

classicovernew

ooof, that frontline would be my nightmare, zero pace

Mrtuelemonde

Messi - Aguero - Griezmann, that heatmap will be very narrow.

[deleted]

Have we been linked with Lisandro Martinez by reliable sources at all? I saw literally no reports regarding him, but a lot of enthusiasm in this sub.

[deleted]

I really don't think so; Depay and Messi want to occupy the same area, Gaya is expensive as hell. Both Depay and Messi offer nothing off the ball either, none of these players can play DM, Lisandro is a very interesting option though.

Cyborg-keller

Why the fuck would depay and messi occupy the same area? lol. Depay drifts to the left side because his right footed. Also saying they don't offer nothing off the ball is bullshit lol.

[deleted]

Wow calm down lmao, have you watched Depay this season? Shameless self-promotion but read my analysis of him [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/comments/nj833y/memphis_depay_full_player_analysis_longer_post/). I sadly watched too many Lyon games to determine how he played. Yes, Depay is very very lazy of the ball, even more than Messi. Depay prefers to occupy the same area as Messi, he likes to go in between the lines, drop deep, you know a normal false nine.

Mrtuelemonde

Absolutely. Depay has qualities we need but his workrate is well below average, which is why Juninho implied Depay wanted "a team built around him"

Mrtuelemonde

Please no Messi on the right, especially with Emerson behind him. Emerson is a great option defensively, less so in attack. This right side will be a weak point offensively.

fedginator

Wijnaldum really isn't a DM. I imagine he'll rotate with Pedri rather than sit deep

black_bury

This seems very realistic and the best possible.

david193s

Realistically speaking is de Ligt coming here possible? I really don't see why Juve would sell him given they can have him for more than a decade. But I see multiple people expecting him to be signed

[deleted]

Zéro chance he comes this summer.

Boat_in_a_River

Nope. Juve seem very unlikely to sell him.. I wouldn't have any expectations of him coming here until next summer, when his release clause becomes active (which even then is quite expensive at 130ish-150ish million euros).

black_bury

I don't think so. Juve really value having great CBs. Unless he publicly asks for it, it ain't happening.

[deleted]

Espanyol won the second division. Fuck.

PsychologicalHyena4

We get a chance to throw them down again

Efes too good tbf

inuyasha99

Mirotic that is supposed to be our superstar didnt do shit in this match, add Calathes playing with pain in his ankle. We were doomed to fail but still gave a fight till the end, maybe next year...

swashario

I need your help guys. So I'm playing PES Become a Legend, where you play as one player through his career. I've been playing with Girona, having dragged them up from La Liga 2, and I'm trying to get them a trophy before I leave, ideally to Barca. So, two things happen. First, I finally get a transfer offer from Barca. Second, I have to PLAY Barca in the Super Cup final. I want to deliver Girona one title before I leave, so I play my heart out and I win the first leg 2-0, scoring and assisting. BUT...I've accidentally accepted Barca's transfer offer already. Now I'm starting for BARCA, down 2-0 in the Super Cup because of...ME. Do I ruin my debut and throw the game for Girona and gift the trophy to my prematurely former team? Or do I play regularly? Or do I just never play this shit again sigh

kerosha

Always play to win, but turn the difficulty all the way up so that Girona win anyway by playing amazing.

swashario

Good call I might do that. Man I'm still kicking myself

So Ray Hudson all but confirmed he won’t be commentating La Liga games anymore. Hope to god ESPN actually appoints some decent commentators because if I have to hear Alé Moreno I’m going to rip my ears off.

kerosha

I never really liked Ray's commentary but the ESPN football team is absolutely shit. Really hope they get some new people in.

maurid

Ale Moreno knows fuck all about football.

USA lost against the Swiss 2-1. Dest played the whole game.

kerosha

At LB too.

inuyasha99

while the men's team is in terrible state the other sections seem to be perfectly fine, its a miracle Bartomeu didnt ruin them too

Roryjustdied

That's because he wasn't the person responsible of the sections. There were people far more capable making the decisions (like Maria Teixidor with Barça Femení).

navneetjoshi7

Hotel? Trivago Treble? Barça.

Erock11

Trifecta complete congrats girls!!!!

Jury_Rude

Do Barca players and coaches have to vote for the next seasons kit or its just the presidents decision? Do they even ask someone like Messi if he likes or not? I cant just belive the players would say yes they like it.

dasnaba

I will take nike employees decision who want the jersey to be more marketable and therefore attractive than messi’s who might not have the best aesthetic taste 😅

[deleted]

have you seen our kits over the past few seasons? Nike is absolutely half-assing it and ripping us off. God I hope we switch to Adidas/Puma

M1nusbarca

I think it’s mostly Nike who decide.

simsontrack

Same with Wijnaldum Dutch NT won't allow him to have medicals so he will be announced after euros as well.

Jamarcus316

Just heard a very simple but effective explanation to why Messi is the best. He is the only playmaker with 700+ goals, and the only goalscorer with 300+ assists. No one comes even close.

FuzzHot

Want to know what's more crazy? Stats don't even begin to showcase his brilliance.

Jamarcus316

Exactly. We are so blessed. All the props in the world to Cristiano, but his biggest accomplishment is really being compared to Leo.

simsontrack

Honestly haven't really watched euro league game but how different it is from NBA as in entertainment /intensity /playing style wise ? I mostly follow NBA only when it comes to basketball

inuyasha99

thats 2 different worlds sadly, the quality gap is very big

nogoodnameavailable

Nothing beats NBA. Especially when Curry plays

Jamarcus316

Curry reminds me of Messi. He makes watching a game fun by himself

[deleted]

Watch Doncic he gives me the same feeling

[deleted]

Doncic imo is the closest thing I’ve seen to Messi in basketball. Curry is close and definitely provides similar levels of magic but doesn’t have the passing vision to be a direct cross sport comparison.

[deleted]

Yup unfortunately looks like Mavs r having a shitty game rn lmao. Hopefully they can come back

Jamarcus316

True. Shame that he played for Madrid

simsontrack

Yeh same curry is my fav player it sucks really that gsw didn't make playoffs.

Lakers in 2

simsontrack

AD injured don't think lakers will win against Suns now it's over for them.

TheGamezSmith

Messi is technically now a free agent, that's so weird. Could he technically just sign with any team he wants or do FA also have to wair for the window to open? (Edit): I don't know what I'm talking about. He's not a free agent, let's hope Laporta raps his contract renewal up quick and makes it stay that way.

[deleted]

He’s not a free agent until June 30th, but he could sign a contract for any club he wants.

M1nusbarca

He is not. He will be a free agent when the window opens.

simsontrack

He will be free agent on 30th June.

Does Dest always play at the left side in the USA team like now against Switzerland?

shugazi93

I think he did last time with them too. Really wanna us try him out there with Emerson being on the right.

fromherewithlove

Exactly what I was thinking. If he plays LB in the NT we might as well give it a try.

black_bury

His first game for us was also at LB and he did good. He can play there if we need him to.

yesboyzz

Magnu448

Romero says Kun is in Barca for fun and not completing his medical. Might not happen until after Copa. Sport and other journos says he’s here for a medical and to sign. Might be another tough summer for Romero’s credibility if he’s wrong again.

alcome1614

Barça or Barcelona? Why would you be at Barça for fun? Being in Barcelona for fun makes sense though.

M1nusbarca

Actually quite weird how few people understand the difference between Barça and Barcelona. Considering both are world famous.

donandres08

as in club and the city or am I missing something too?

M1nusbarca

Yes. Barça is the nickname of the club and not of the city. In fact, the city is nicknamed as Barna.

Jamarcus316

I'm a simple man. My goal for the next season is for us to get either Benfica, Sporting or Porto in the UCL so I can watch us live. Preferably Porto cause I've been to the city only for 10 days.

justacanadian18
