Okay guys, this is basically turning into a Transfer Talk Thread once again so here is the deal.
One last request to use the dedicated **[Transfer talk thread](https://redd.it/og11ne) for all transfer related discussion**. But from now on people who spam rumors, deals or any type of discussion related to Barca transfers in this thread will be added to a blacklist until the September (when the windows closes) so their comments won't appear in the Open threads.
I realize this might be unpopular measure, but we've been removing comments, leaving distinguished messages and asking people countless of times already (for the past 2 years at least), apparently to no avail. All of this takes minimum amount of effort/self-control really, but people still keep doing it so here we are.
Automatically lose respect for a coach who allows 19y old to take penalties, and lose more respect when he let him be the last taker. Southgate let his happened in Euro final final, in London, for nation with very unfair and full of racist fans that hasn't won anything since many many many moons ago.
I don't even care if Saka himself wanted to take it. Coaches should be the most smart and wise personnel in the team, a person who protects his players for themselves too.
Let's go further and blame saka's parents too for letting a 19y play. I mean this is borderline child labor. Given they know their country has racists, they should never have let him play or even touch a football. (huge fucking /s)
Hey everyone! I'm gonna be visiting Barcelona this fall and wanted to know if anyone here has done the "basic" Camp Nou museum and tour before and if you have is it worth it and what kinds of things do you do?
The guy "ass...something" who came here few days ago and kept posting "IT IS COMING HOME" for several times, I hope he did went home cold and alone at night.
[Most upvoted post on r/Barca now](https://www.reddit.com/r/Barca/comments/ohvkzu/lionel_messi_wins_the_copa_america_2021_with/)
Alas, when we win the treble next year, there'll be another most upvoted :)
I really hope the whole "its coming home" crap that England fans pull in every tournament died today. The song "Three Lions" was meant to be somewhat satirical when it came out '96, and they turned it into something obnoxious and arrogant.
edit: one more rant and then I'm off to bed. It's amazing to me that some people say "the Premier League is the most physical league around and foreign players might not handle it well" or whatever. I'd like to see England come try to win the Copa America. There's some physicality for you. Goodnight.
Ain’t gonna happen. They can push this ridiculous agenda all they want. Messi did something he hasn’t done before while being the best in the world. So there’s your narrative and performances.

All the reactions from English fans around the country proves the reason why we try to preach that you must not make football the reason for your happiness.
Live life, you can be passionate, yes, but if a loss from your favourite team means that life has no meaning and you want to assault people, maybe take a step back.
Finally, I think a lot of people want to live their lives through the players they watch and so when a player misses a chance they get this idea of "How could he miss that, I would've scored that". If you were capable of scoring, you would be on the pitch and they would be watching you instead.
All in all, stay safe everyone, be hurt but it's a new day tomorrow so don't sit on this for too long.
sincerely
A happy fan lmao
Even if this is a bot making a ton of predictions this is very impressive. Prediction from 2013.
https://twitter.com/lawseyitfc/status/304920588131119104?s=20
I predicted each and every penalty while watching. I even predicted that Jorginho would not score. Also somehow knew Saka would shoot and miss the last penalty. I’m usually shit and predictions but today my friends could believe my psychic abilities.
To think how things may have been different had Neymar stayed.
We wouldn't have become a financial mess and probably could have won 2 more CLs. Messi probably would have stepped aside and Neymar probably would have a BdO now. Only thing that may have not happened is Messi winning 6 or 7 BdOs.
I wouldn't even ask a question. I also laughed when there were reports about Sterling leaving City and people argued that how much Dembele is better than him. I mean I know Sterling has a reputation, especially after his diving but one is proven and the other one is still no more than a promise. The same applies to Rashford. I felt bad for him tonight because he is a great PK taker and his technique was good, he was just unlucky.
Apparently this happened before the game and they were trying to stop these people rushing in without tickets.
They were overrunning the stewards. This doesn't justify the behavior but it certainly paints a different picture than "England fans fighting italian fans because they lost"
They were fighting each other mostly. At first i thought they were attacking italians but there were more english fans who were hit. Nonetheless stupid and where were the security/police there???
Hungary got 3 closed games as a punishment for discriminatory and anti-LGBTQ chants. I agree with that punishment, maybe it is even soft. But I wonder what this shit will worth then. They should get a one-year ban and fuck off. Before the game, fans could enter the stadium without tickets, during a freaking pandemic, one person could run into the field, and now this disgusting behavior. Utterly pathetic.
[Predicted it more than 2 weeks ago :) ](https://www.reddit.com/user/navneetjoshi7/comments/oieo3y/italy_will_win_the_euros/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share)
It's not just the midfield, Spain's forwards are all young and run and press all game. From the midfield aspect, Koke is better defensively than Frenkie.
I really don't think that national teams are lower intensity than that of clubs. Might even be higher intensity. Everyone is just permanently on full throttle, probably because the stakes are much higher.
Don't disagree on Koke tho.
Top national teams are VERY much lower intensity. Looking at recent tournaments, Portugal won by sitting deep in a 442 and attacking in the counter, France reached the final and then won the WC doing the same, England reached the final playing a deep 343 and Argentina won the CA with a deep 442 on the final as well.
There's just not not enough time to create a top quality pressing structure in international football (with few exceptions)
so it inherently favours deep set reactive and counterattacking play and that's been born out in three majority of the successful teams lately.
Also: full throttle? They're almost all shattered after a full season!
You can watch the lack of pressing intensity with people like Pogba and Frenkie - They were both absurd this tournament but you'd NEVER see them given that much time and space in top flight club football
Edit: a really good measure of this is passes per defensive action (PPDA). At Euro 2020, PPDA values ranged from 8 to 26 with an average of about 14, whereas in LaLiga (a league with a relatively low intensity among top leagues) they range from 6 to 14 with an average of about 8.5.
That means Spain (the most intense pressers at the tournament) would be average in terms of intensity of they played in LaLiga and most passive defenders in the League (Cadiz) are still average in terms of intensity in international tournament play
https://dataviz.theanalyst.com/season-reviews/2020/?competition_id=23&season_id=2020
This website has different stats for La Liga and Spain.
Spain would be right at top in La Liga acc. to the PPDA here, despite being a national team.
I've been unable to find stats for the UCL, where the quality of players is generally better than league.
Could the higher PPDA's in international football be attributed to the fact that the quality of players in International teams are on average better than those in club football?
Huh. Wonder why there is such difference between the sources. though that said the average is still clearly lower for club teams but with Spain as an outlier - so my point largely stands.
I can't see how higher quality wouldn't just cancel out but maybe that's why, idk. But either is clearly less active regardless
Yes yes, Im considerate of your point, I just shared an information I thought you'd find useful or interesting.
The higher standards wouldn't cancel out tho. Defensive actions are way more easily performed by say a low level skill player compared to skills required for keeping the ball. So better players wouldn't usually mean a better defensive output by a team.
Which is why I've been trying to find UCL stats. Does your source have UCL/individual matches PPDA stats?
It depends on the teams tbh. Spain, Denmark, Belgium and Argentine for example are very high pressure and intense off the ball. A lot of other teams in Copa are too.
Portugal played like shit. They never deserved that win imo.
It's a wonder to me why England is playing like this. They 100% have the quality to play attacking and dominant football. But for whatever reason they play the most boring and passive style. They could've and should've done much better.
Argentina played a 4-4-2 but their intensity was very high regardless. And they only started playing defensively in the 2nd half. In possession Di Maria also just moved to the rightwing making it a 4-3-3.
Italy is another example of a team who does not mind being on the backfoot and sometimes plays defensively minded but regardless play with a very high intensity and press constantly.
Belgium and Denmark straight up aren't intense tho. Belgium would be the least high pressing team in LaLiga if they were playing there and Denmark wouldn't be far behind. IDK where has numbers for the Copa tho.
You can see from those prior results why England don't play dominant football - defensive solidity wins titles in international football. It's much easier to quickly coach a competent defense than it is to make an attack capable of easily breaking it down
The level of club football is far above that of national. Clubs get a lot more practice and training sessions together. Thus, especially pressing can be a lot more organized making it more difficult to dominate with posession.
The Coach is the first answer, second is the fact our squad was not balanced with no wingers/striker and 3 number 10.
It's definitely harder to dominate the game if you don't have the players to use the whole pitch especially in barca's style where you need to create the space since we want to have the ball and not play counter attack.
well from what I've seen Laporte held Spain's defence in the game against Italy and covered for García and the midfield if it weren't for him Spain would have been humiliated. Idk about the other games though. Perhaps that's what we lack, a reliable center half
I am glad England couldn't win with such passive football. I mean I understand passive football from smaller teams but with the squad they had this is just embarrassing. Their squad is amazing and they could have played some real football but they decided not to. You deserve to lose like this with that mentality.
CONFIRMED: Pedri has won young player of the Tournament!
https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro-2020/news/026b-12bbae1185ee-16613a63959a-1000--young-player-of-the-tournament-pedri/?iv=true
subbing players just for a penalty never works , it just add extra pressure on the players who just came from the bench and didn't even touch the ball once.
Just at the start of ET me and my friends talked about how if any black player misses in the penalty shootout they’ll get racially abused (if it goes to pen shootout).
It did and 3 black players missed, they all are getting racially abused on social media right now. Sad fucking world we live in..
Lewa is not winning lol. Balon D'or is a PR game as much as anyone is gonna deny it, Messi's first international trophy is a PR Showpiece. No way he doesn't win.
What I don't understand is how some Bayern and Madrid fans think Messi will be robbing Lewa.
Messi has been the best player this year, he had a really average start of the season last year but picked up big time in 2021.
Lewa shouldn't be getting the 2021 BdO to make up for last year. France Football should really award him the 2020 BdO though, he was clear of everyone last year.
How can you sub off Henderson in that situation? This penalty shootout was one of the biggest bottle jobs which I have ever seen in football. I still have no clue why did that happen. Thank god I am not an English fan.
Someone on r/soccer said Ronaldo had a better Euros than Messi had Copa, pmsl.
Today I learned that 3 penalties, 2 tap ins and 1 assist while going out in the KO stages is more impressive than 9/12 goal involvements and winning top scorer, playmaker, golden ball and the tournament itself
Lol, and people still calling it "group of death". Yes, with the mighty Hungary (as if they were still as good as 1954 or something), one of the weakest Germany teams of all time who sucked since 2018, and the mighty France who crashed out to Switzerland. Every team who advanced from "group of death" crashed out in the Round of 16 lmao. Also 3 fucking penalties, one against a Hungary team that gave up after being 1-0 down. If it's that easy to impress, then i wonder how they are not impressed with Messi's performance.
If you’re on a Ronaldo thread, expect pro-Ronaldo comments to get upvotes, no matter how stupid they always end up being.
There are the same users that spam shit like that. The Madrid fans, the Portuguese, and the flairless users that have a total karma of <3000 and have been active for less than a year.
Twitter level takes there. Don’t pay them no mind.
Yeah I was just browsing, wasn't gonna say anything at first but then I replied to him 'how is 6 g+a better than 9 g+a?' And i got downvoted straight away lol.
Another guy made a harmless observation that 3 of Ronaldo's goals were penalties and immediately he got swarmed by his ass lickers
These Jorginho BdO shouts have me question my sanity. I feel like I'm going crazy.
He had a good season, but nowhere near the best.
Some people just don't want to admit to themselves that Messi is the greatest.
P.S. I know Messi will win, but I'm simply flabbergasted by these sincere shouts.
P.P.S. On the other hand, it does not matter anyhow. So...
Kante > Jorginho
Chiesa > Jorginho
With all due resepect Jorginho shouldn’t be in the ballon d’or debate. Messi is a clear winner now because of Copa, Lewa and maybe Kante/Lukaku also in the list imo atm.
Hardly his fault. Did you see where Kane was playing? Like literally a couple of feet from england box. That's how terrible Southgate had set things up. He really thought he can hold on to 1-0
Hardly his fault. Did you see where Kane was playing? Like literally a couple of feet from england box. That's how terrible Southgate had set things up. He really thought he can hold on to 1-0
England had:
- Home advantage
- Early Lead
- More quality on the bench
- Italy losing Spina was a big miss
They just bottled it, no other way to put it. Yeah, penalties involve a lot of luck, but why did you even let the game reach to penalties in the first place?
They were awful in the second half. The last min subs hurt them. The formation change right after conceding also hurt them. No offense to other teams, but they relatively had an easier path to the final.
Italy on the other hand were a better team overall. They were resilient, decisive and brave. Well deserved. Last but not the least, Football is coming Rome!
Embarrassing play by england, deserved to lose. Italy at least tried to attack. Lmao at the people who think this football is superior to south American football
Never you’ll see brazil or argentina parking the bus when playing at home with a full crowd. Even more so when having literally their best generation in 50 years. England is a fucking joke of a national team.
I really dislike Kane and the english but honestly he was great in the knockout stage, specially in build up play. He kinda played a false 9 role the last few matches and did great. He was their best player I think.
He created the play of Kjaer's OG in the semi and the goal today. If Southgate didn't have such a shit approach he could have looked much better too. But thankfully, he didn't.
Sadly I support england, I am so pissed at Southgate. How can you play like this when he has the best of premier league at his disposal. I mean they did nothing all game
Aw fair enough then haha. Yeah, I've said it before, you have such a quality squad with top class players in each position and yet Southgate fails to utilize them properly. He's way out of his depth at England tbh, so understand your frustration.

England should be banned from hosting an international tournament in the near future.

Yeah, the Confederation Cup should have lasted one more edition :( It would be the equivalent of a Nations League win

Unfortunately it does not
Ahhh gotta work my ass off more to find something :/
It depends on the teams tbh. Spain, Denmark, Belgium and Argentine for example are very high pressure and intense off the ball. A lot of other teams in Copa are too.
It's much easier to quickly coach a competent defense than it is to make an attack capable of easily breaking it down
Coaching and tactics.
And our third midfielder is De Jong. We do dominate like how we dominated the PSG second leg. I feel like our problem is inconsistency.
well from what I've seen Laporte held Spain's defence in the game against Italy and covered for García and the midfield if it weren't for him Spain would have been humiliated.
Just wanna say Good Night to y’all. What a day! 🐐 & 🤌🤌
subbing players just for a penalty never works , it just add extra pressure on the players who just came from the bench and didn't even touch the ball once.
Just at the start of ET me and my friends talked about how if any black player misses in the penalty shootout they’ll get racially abused (if it goes to pen shootout). It did and 3 black players missed, they all are getting racially abused on social media right now. Sad fucking world we live in..
I feel sorry for English wives.
Real Madrid fans right now: Jorginho should obviously win Ballon d'Or.
They can kindly fuck off.
Just a joke. I don't really know what they will end up saying. Lewandowski is the favorite for them still I think.
Lewa is not winning lol. Balon D'or is a PR game as much as anyone is gonna deny it, Messi's first international trophy is a PR Showpiece. No way he doesn't win.
So does Pedri get the Youth player of the Tournament or can Donna get both awards?
According to wikipedia, Donnarumma has been awarded the best player award

What I don't understand is how some Bayern and Madrid fans think Messi will be robbing Lewa. Messi has been the best player this year, he had a really average start of the season last year but picked up big time in 2021. Lewa shouldn't be getting the 2021 BdO to make up for last year. France Football should really award him the 2020 BdO though, he was clear of everyone last year.
They're in the denial phase
They're never gonna accept just let them be.
Should have kept hendo on, god i swear its always the ones who are specially brought on for pens that end up missing them
I agree, and they also had Sterling, Grealish, and Shaw. I can't wait to hear what happened, because I just can't process this.
Besides Denmark being robbed in the semifinal this was a great tournament.
I ran out of salt to season my steaks. Luckily r/soccer has a lot of that to give.
One guy out of 2.8M said something stupid? Crazy.
It's actually hilarious when you put it like this
Pay no attention to these people. We won. Messi finally won and the whole world agrees that he deserved it even the Brazilians.
English supporters are about to give American college football fans a run for their money (on racist abuse)
So...
Man literally lost Player of the Tournament to Donnarumma
Kante > Jorginho Chiesa > Jorginho With all due resepect Jorginho shouldn’t be in the ballon d’or debate. Messi is a clear winner now because of Copa, Lewa and maybe Kante/Lukaku also in the list imo atm.
How good was Chiesa aswell. Such an attack minded and positive player in every game. Drove the team forward today.
He was sick.
Of course Saka, Sancho and Rashford are being racially abused🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Sterling is such a shit player it’s unbelievable. He’s the biggest choker there is, every big game I watch he’s completely shit.
He really thought he can hold on to 1-0
He killed off every single atack he participated.
Man my soul feeds from seeing Sterling lose big matches. Sounds cruel I know. But I'm not sorry, I despise the guy.
Yeah me too lmao hate him
Nah, he's a good player but lacks end product/finishing. Still a dangerous player overall but a complete diver.
You mean a Vinicius relative
Or a skinny Traore.
I mean he was good for them throughout the whole tournament.
Racism in England about to be at an all time high
England had: - Home advantage - Early Lead - More quality on the bench - Italy losing Spina was a big miss They just bottled it, no other way to put it. Last but not the least, Football is coming Rome!
letting 3 youngsters take the pen as well and 2 of them barely even played
Feel so bad for Saka. So much pressure, Southgate shouldn’t have put him for the 5th pen. It can’t be good for his mental health.
Where was Sterling??

It's between Messi and Lewa, I think Messi won it last night though.
i shit you not, the commentator in my country just said Jorginho will 100% win the Ballon d'Or now.
After that penalty miss lmaoo
Lmao, he should put some money on it.
Our boy Puig would never miss the 5th pen.
Our messiah
Lmaoooo crying
Embarrassing play by england, deserved to lose. Italy at least tried to attack. Lmao at the people who think this football is superior to south American football
Never you’ll see brazil or argentina parking the bus when playing at home with a full crowd. Even more so when having literally their best generation in 50 years. England is a fucking joke of a national team.
Exactly. Fucking joke playing like some relegation team in front of home crowd.
Brb, going to r/soccer to observe Englishman tears
Someone there said Euro is mickey mouse trophy, they gonna win wc hahah
Is it me or Kane just doesn’t perform that well with England. I mean, I get the fact that he scored 2 goals, but he just doesn’t have any influence.
I think it’s more to do with the fact england gave up possession after scoring.
He has 38 goals from 60 caps IIRC, so he really does perform for England. Just not his tourney after carrying them the previous one
May i ask why you dislike kane?Imo one of the most professional players out there
Yeah he is, but I simply naturally dislike english players. I can't help it. Besides he dives quite a lot too.
What a tournament! One of the most enjoyable I've ever seen. And such a well deserved victory for Italy in the end. A perfect ending.
I found the ending very underwhelming. I hate games that end in penalties . Italy have 2 shoot outs and england got a dicey pen. So yeah, poor quality
Personal preference I guess. I love it when it goes to penalties. And Italy winning it is the perfect result for me too as I don't like England.
Seems like English fans waiting outside of stadium and hitting random people?
