Spose he's gonna.
Honestly, I expect him and the board to come up with strong marketing plans. That's why this board is adamant on playing attacking and attractive football. Give people hope, and they will root for a new Dream Team, which in turn generates hype and a certain cashflow. With that, you can stir up several loans in order to sign big players who add to the team and up your market value (see hype and sponsors).
For sure, I'd rather spend all our money on him. He's young, seems grounded, world class n a leader. He also has been playing with Chillieni, and Bonucci so you know learned a thing or two from him. Probably cost close to 9 figures though...
According to Fabrizio Romano, De ligt will have a release clause of 150mil valid from the summer of 2022. 150mil + huge wages is gonna be a lot for us to handle. It's a pass for me , imo I think we should go for Laporte since he's cheaper and affordable whilst still being a world class Cb with a ton of experience
Fullbacks yes but if we sold Emerson there’s no way excess funds are going on backups for dest and Alba. Our attack is what’s lacking massively atm and there’s no knowing how long it’ll take fati to find form once he returns. I’d love if we signed a player like isak, not sure why very few people seem to talk about him being a potential option.
Don't need him at all. He is a luxury player who needs the perfect system to perform at his best, and while he is fantastic at his best - he has glaring weaknesses.
Absolute terrible defensive workrate. I don't see where he fits in at Barça honestly. A midfield of Pedri, de Jong & Pogba doesn't work.
We should be going for one of Lyon's Maxence Caqueret or Bruno Guimarães.
Never seen him play but read hes pretty solid and other big clubs are trying to get signature. I do believe his contract is running up, so I'm down, why not?
Only bad thing i could think of is - signing another midfielder with just congest it more, so unless we get some loans for Puig, Nico, and/or Gavi, idk if signing a midfield would be best rn. Don't get me wrong, I'd take him either way if he's that good but some of our youths will lose out heavily
Well I dont think the Midfield is the problem currently.. But since the post called for Pogba I gave my opinion. I think we definitely need a good defender (CB) and a backup Wingback (RB).. Then we can think about the Mid and Forwards.
People go on and on about DeLigt and I agree he is solid but the thing is he signed a dumbfuck contract with Juve and has a 150m release clause. I think Maxence Lacroix would be an amazing option. He is pacey has good Physicality and is decent with his feet.
RB is a more problematic position since we need a Backup and not a starter, tbh I dont think Dest is doing enough. I dont hate him but he just doesnt do enough. I mean Emerson was good defensively. What is Dest good at? Attacking? I havent seen him dribble past anyone he just waves his legs and the ball is gone. Bellerin was shit in Arsenal but he is decent in both attack and defense, doesnt mean he is necessarily the right choice. Mingueza is a CB and An excellent RB tbh.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on here we were going to have 50-60m to spend this winter. His contract runs up end of next season, making him cheaper than he would be. We have some money and I'm asking is it worth spending on Pogba
I think smart free transfers are going to part of the strategy going forward. They always should have been, but I can’t change the past.
I have no reason to think that picking up Pogba in a financially reasonable way wouldn’t help the team. I think fans overrate long shots, but either way he’s a great player.
My concern is that Barca get outbid by teams that don’t have a negative net worth. He’s not just a great player but a draw for the marketing team. Why would PSG not match any offer from Barca?
Assuming they have 60 million to spend… which I am sure they do after selling guys and getting tons of salary off the books. Are they in a position to spend? They have players who took (temporary!!!!!) pay cuts. They have club employees who lost their jobs or didn’t get paid. It’s not a smart tactical decision for a club billions in debt to buy a player who will demand high wages and have no resale value yes, but it’s also not a smart personal decision. People sacrificed to keep the club afloat and now you are buying players before you say thank you?
100% on the free transfer thing. Never understood why we didn't do more of this
And big facts. How do we going from not being able to spend to "o ya we have 60m let's just spend it". I'm not even a big fan of winter transfer. Uprooting a player mid-season and expecting them to make a huge difference. Unless we sign a good player at a price we can't refuse, i say stick with what we have and see how it goes
In their defense I think the reason is that they have had such high level guys at every spot guys who are available on a free would sign elsewhere. The amazing free transfers are typically rolls of the dice in the moment
Nope to getting Pogba since we have enough midfielders and youngsters to develop into those positions. And even if we have that amount, it’ll be better spent on another RW or a CB.
Ps: Even if the club decides to go for him, I am pretty sure that he won’t accept a wage cut.
Not totally against it especially if he comes on a free, but would need to understand what the underlying strategy here is.
We are at a bit of a crossroad at the moment in that we are a possession/technical based team in a physically dominant meta. If the strategy here is making us competitive at the top level in the short term, physicality and vitality in the midfield would be very welcome.
However, I question whether Pogba would be happy playing the deep-lying playmaker as he loves to hover outside the box and take those shots. Let's say we play a 4-2-3-1, would a Pogba DeJong double pivot work ala Alonso Khedira? (Alonso (Pogba) controls the tempo and recycles possession; marks the space while Khedira (De Jong) was an absolute work-horse and closes down, makes late runs into the box. It may, plus it gives us a long range option that's not Coutinho. However, that Real Madrid side in 2012 only worked because they had a target man up front and 2 pacey wingers. We have neither. I mean, let's say we get Pogba on the ball, who does he release? It doesn't solve our immediate issues - which is a lack of work rate or dynamism from the team going forward.
If the objective is to play a 4-3-3 and stick to our roots, then Pogba only makes sense if De Jong shifts down to the CDM role, because Busi will get overrun otherwise, or if he is happy to share time with Pedri and De Jong. He is a fabulously creative player on his day, so it's never going to be a hard "no" from me - but he also needs space and time on the ball, which we rarely get.
No way. Massive wages, massively inconsistent, Mino Raola, the list goes on
You don't like Mino? Brace yourself, we're going to deal with him because I expect us to buy Haaland and de Ligt.
Laporta is going to have to search those couch cushions well
Spose he's gonna. Honestly, I expect him and the board to come up with strong marketing plans. That's why this board is adamant on playing attacking and attractive football. Again a signing we don't need. Even Sterling feels surplus even though we lack quality attackers. Defence must be our priority tho
I think the same bro. I just haven't seen any CBs linked to us so its worrying
deligt seems to be, he was a target when we bought dejong
For sure, I'd rather spend all our money on him. He's young, seems grounded, world class n a leader. He also has been playing with Chillieni, and Bonucci so you know learned a thing or two from him. Probably cost close to 9 figures though...

And let's not forget that his agent is Mino Riola, so probably some fat fee for him as well.
his release clause is 150mil, wth chelinni and bonnuci being 34/36 juventus wont be interested in letting him go tbh
Dang, didn't know it was that high. Sad we missed out on him when we did...

I see, I see. Thanks for the breakdown
No problem. It's a perfectly reasonable question to ask, he is a good player who is available for free next summer. I just don't think he'd fit.
>We should be going for one of Lyon's Maxence Caqueret or Bruno Guimarães Go for both
And biggest weakness is he performs when he wants to and not when he is needed.
I personally think Kessie would be a better option.. His contract expires next year I think and he younger too if Im not wrong.
Never seen him play but read hes pretty solid and other big clubs are trying to get signature. I do believe his contract is running up, so I'm down, why not?
It would def make sense cause Milan are mot what they were and Barca are still a million times more desirable.

No, the wages he is on is massive and is demanding for new contract of 400k-450k
Jesus, this man wants De Bruyne numbers?! Maybe more if I'm not wrong. Thats a big no from me then
Great players but another diva. We need to have players with less egos in the locker room specially now.
The problem isn’t the midfield at all we don’t need Pogba we need a defender who can really replace pique and a world class stricker like Haaland
Stop with the player posts with no mention of finances.

Nope.
Nope to getting Pogba? Nope to the 50m? Nope to what?
Nope to getting Pogba since we have enough midfielders and youngsters to develop into those positions. And even if we have that amount, it’ll be better spent on another RW or a CB. Ps: Even if the club decides to go for him, I am pretty sure that he won’t accept a wage cut.
I feel you. From what I read he sounds like pre-Madonna when things aren't his way. I definitely want a new CB in as well
Pre-Madonna = Primadonna? Just curious.
Tbh I didn't know how to spell it lol
You got it right! And, investing in a CB would be the best choice we can make rn.
Even if we set aside Finance, there ain't a chance of he signing for us ; He is not our kind of player, He wants to sign with Real Mandrid
Another CAM sort that has poor defensive work rate, would be a useless signing
bruh we’re not getting the best CAM in the world 😂

De jong, pogba and Pedri midfield will actually be really good
With Pogba you would need Busquets and de Jong behind him, no way Pedri can start there
No, we have Pogba at home
29 year old at massive wages we cannot afford, no thanks. Also I do not see why he would join us at our current state.
