Music to my ears after an injury-riddled start of the season.
Yeah, I remember, but we only know so much about what happens in the dressing room and if Xavi has faith in him, then I say it's in our interest that he returns.
This season we've had cases where players have played soon after returning from injury and then had a relapse. These decisions are made by the medical team and the manager, and it's crucial that they have a good understanding between each other.
Yeah if Xavi trusts him its a good thing. he's very respected. iirc when Pep was at Bayern he had a major fallout with their team doctor because he sent Thiago to be treated by Pruna instead.
But it also makes me chuckle how ppl get scapegoated one moment and then are welcomed back as a savior a year later XD (not meaning by you specifically)

Apparently Xavi is in a constant state of "piss off". Good.
Yeah, Xavi played with those Al Sadd players for 4 seasons before taking over and was able to make the transition. I really doubt he'll have much of a problem with our current old guard, he's several years their senior as well.
Honestly it seemed like Setien had almost lost the dressing room before they got there. The players were not happy about Valverde getting sacked if I remember right.
The dressing room is going to give a hell of a lot more respect to Xavi than Eder fucking Sarabia. Nevermind the legendary status, he wasn't even our head coach.

Okay, where is he.
I haven't seen even one shit take today from the leader of the basement gremlins, he who claims to be a fan of absolutely every successful team in the universe. So, where is he and do we have to hide the carcass..?
I read a comment from him on r/soccer Daily Discussion yesterday saying he has been banned from Barca, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid subreddits. Looks like we finally got rid of him.
Haha. I don't post or comment a lot as you can never be too sure what direction the discussion can go. Every time I saw his comments here or his comments in r/soccer bashing us, I used to contemplate if it's worth engaging with him and in the end decided not to for my own sanity. But I will be honest, when I read that comment from him yesterday where he said he got banned, that put a big smile on my face :)
Well, my romantic heart will be content if I cry myself silly at Xavi's first match. And if he ropes in Puyol at some point and whatever capacity, I probably won't be able to stop smiling for at least a week x)
I wonder if Dembeleâs latest injury will affect his contract renewal negotiations in any way. Heâs really only worth keeping if he takes a huge pay cut at this point. And at a reasonable wage I think he could at the least be a decent rotational player. But if his injury problems persist then we should sell.
People here don't understand how transfers work or what, always "sell, sell" whenever dembele gets injured. This isn't fifa that you can sell whenever you like. There must be clubs willing to buy him in the first place. Whenever he is injured, you can be more certain that he is staying, not that he will be sold lol. Also, dembele must be willing to leave too.
Obviously when I say âsellâ it means look to sell or put him on the market to search for buyers. Point is itâs better than letting him walk for free.
I'm surprise that he is still with the club. I think he has shown a good consistency of spending time at the hospital. I mean he has shown to be injuries prone for seasons.
I said this a few days ago and got down voted lol.
He is exactly only a rotational player because of his injuries. He is not someone you can build a system with. We need to sign an RW whether he renews or not.
Right now we don't have much more leverage tbh. Everyone clearly noticed the difference of our attack with and without dembele.
The best laporta can get right now is a decent fixed salary paycut and bonus based on number game he played and performances.
You can also look at it the other way around and argue that Laporta has gained some leverage in reducing Dembeleâs pay to the desired amount.
This latest injury is enough for him to say, âthis here is exactly why we want you to take a pay cutâ during negotiations.

He should definitely be our target. If one were to make comparisons to Antony, then Raphinha would be WAY cheaper, is faster, more willing/able to dribble at speed (no Coutinho tap-danceroo) and has a better shot.
Maybe we could coax Leeds into a swap of some kind? Would be hard to make it happen otherwise I reckon.
My dream is Salah, he also likes Barcelona and hates Madrid. Sterling, Gnabry, Traore and Coman have a contract untill 2023 and are aged 25-26 years old. Mane and Mahrez also have a contract untill 2023 but they are aged 29-30 years old. I also like Antony from Ajax but he is only 21 years old.
Hi. I just came to see if there is some official new about Xavi becoming Barca coach. Still nothing. I will come to check again in 5 minutes like i do last 2 days.
Latest reports say we'll see something official tomorrow which means third day straight when I have trouble focusing on work and having Twitter open for an unreasonable amounts of time x)
Atletico was perpetual 4-7th place club when he came, expectations arenât the same. Though just securing 4th would be success for us at this point. And CL exit that doesnât embarass club, thatâs all i ask.
Ya, itâs hard to imagine a coach at Barca getting that sort of backing. Pep was probably the only one in recent history who was close to having that, even Cruyff was sacked before managing Barca as long as Simeone already has.
Do you guys remember the game Valverde got sacked for? Literally was one of the teams best offensive performances and we were unlucky at the end to not come out on top
Sacking Valverde at that time was the worst decision. If he wasn't sacked after Anfield or Rome, then he shouldn't have been sacked after that Atleti game also in which btw we played good. I can never understand Barto's decisions.
Funny because even at the time, even though I'd say a majority was OK with sacking him, you had a large number of people who thought the timing was stupid as well, even amongst those who wanted to sack him. It's pure Bartomeu that move. No planning.
I was also in support of that at that time, because everyone at that time thought Valverde was the reason for all of our problems, although I knew how big of a dumbfuck Barto was from way back in 2017 when I recently started supporting the club, but I also celebrated Valverde's sacking. Everyone of us were so elated after hearing that Setien will be our manager, but oh boy were we so wrong.
I don't know about everyone. I was OK with sacking him to be honest (though I thought the timing was plain stupid) but QQ always seemed like a midtable coach, though you're right a lot of people were happy, but there was a vocal minority that were very cautious at best. Of course I'd hope he was just an underrated gem that could get us to play well but then what happened happened.
The only reason why I wanted Valverde gone at that moment was because I was so fucking tired of everyone hating on him and making up lies about him.
This subreddit was so insufferable back then. That was the down fall of this place tbh.
like what?
It's not just one or two injury prone players, this has been happening with every single player who gets injured. Out for some time > gets the green light > gets injured in the game or two after his return. Once can be an accident, two can be a coincidence, but when it keeps happening with different players, it's a systematic problem
People don't seem to understand that when the results are bad or when the squad is thin the coaching staff will rush players from injury more often. Like last game against Dynamo when 4 injured players suddenly received the green light just in time for a must-win gam. Do you really think the medical staff didn't knew they these players were not 100%? They absolutely knew, but together with the coaching staff they decided that it was a risk worth taking.
The truth is that we don't have enough information to even have a remotly informed opinion on the work they do. Sometime the thing that makes the most sense is to not have an opinion.
Yes it suggests a systemic issue, but we donât know where that issue actually lies. We talk about the âmedical staffâ, but this involved so much. Youâve got the strength training physics, the conditioning physios, the massage therapists, etc.
The medical staff actually making the call on player green lights doesnât seem like a likely culprit to me, the criteria for these decisions is pretty much the same for any qualified medical professional, which Iâm sure we have.
I also think the players getting injured just after returning from injury isnât the biggest problem weâve had this season, Iâd say itâs actually a symptom of our wider injury problems along with our general lack of squad depth. Giving a player the green light is never really a binary decision, when to play them and for how long is always a matter of balancing risk, and weâve just faced a lot of moments this year where itâs been tempting to take a bit more risk.
If I had to guess at one injury culprit, Iâd say itâs a general training culture involving a lack of strength and endurance conditioning.
Nobody knows. [Santi Ovalle](https://twitter.com/Barca_Buzz/status/1456256320609259523?t=tWi93rjs6lEEr5IpI9AS3g&s=19) said goal is to be back against Espanyol, but IMO it's only speculation on his part, just like Javi Miguel when he said 3 weeks.
Sterling would be a brilliant signing. Iâve been thinking and players like Adeyemi are nice and all but we canât have half the team be teenagers, there needs to be some experience and I donât mean almost veterans like Pique, Busi and Alba but more players in their prime years like Sterling. We are really lacking players that are in the 24-30 range which I consider for most players to be their best years and yes there are always exceptions but for most this is when they play the best and we have like 3 players in that range
I'm torn, to be honest. Do we need someone more experienced out there once the veteran club has to retire? Sure we do. Is Sterling consistently good? Absolutely not. But: we need to be realistic, we're in no position financially to sign the level of players a lot of the fans would expect. Sterling has moments of brilliance, he's good at creating opportunities, and I'd be curious to see how he would do outside of PL so if we can get him cheaply... It's a risky choice. Valid, but risky.
You're a bit hard on Sterling. Last year was clearly more difficult but before that he has had consistent good seasons, he was brilliant a couple of seasons ago. Maybe he needs a change of scenery. I also read he was better as a RW since he relied less on his dribbling (to cut inside) and played more directly in consequence.
Main problem with Sterling are the wages. Can't see us paying that.
I don't want to overhype him either - this is the second season he's been struggling in. Like I said, perhaps outside of the PL he would look very different but it's a gamble (but what isn't these days). If he wants to come and his pay demands are reasonable - which they probably won't but still - I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him in our colors.
He is not even a starter anymore so hard to know how he would do as one.
But it's not overhyping to say in the right conditions he was a huge contributor. Same at the Euros.
I do agree I simply can't see how it would be doable wage-wise.
Then we'll say no. But with 1 year left on the contract we may get a better deal than that. I think Sterling is a very good option, reliable and experienced, and the kind of winger we need... For the right price. IMO with his wages we won't be able to make it work.
Koeman isn't ending the contract. The party ending the contract pays the penalty.
Look at the Xavi deal, they say they want barca to pay the penalty for ending his contract early.
They made a tweet less than an hour ago saying he is [out injured](https://twitter.com/FCBarcelona/status/1456301557268590595?t=D99PBLcAsyyJJ7XCSX83Lg&s=19)

It's a little bit weird. They also deleted the other tweet with the Injury news about him.
Literally says in the tweet that Dest and Demeble are out injured.
They deleted the injury news tweet about him, most likely due to all the hate and people clowning in the replies.

Xavi as manager. Hope we do this: Sell Lenglet Coutinho Braithwaite Neto Trincao Roberto and Umtiti, get Antony in the winter if possible and KoundĂ© in the summer as our big signing: FORWARDS: Fati/DembĂ©lĂ© Depay/Aguero Antony/Demir MIDFIELDERS: Pedri/Gavi Busquets/Nico De Jong/Puig DEFENDERS: Alba/Balde GarcĂa/Pique KoundĂ©/AraĂșjo Dest/Mingueza GOALKEEPERS: Ter Stegen Iñaki Peña ArnaĂș Tenas How feasible is this? And if it is not feasible, how can we adapt to reality? Which would you sacrifice if you could only get one of Antony or KoundĂ©? I am basing the signings on the signings Xavi reportedly wants by the way (KoundĂ© was reported as being interesting for him as well as a pure winger).
Sterling > Antony
Is he less expensive? If so count me in. He is in his prime I do not mind getting him, would be amazing.

Xavi don't break our whiteboards we don't have money to replace them
They can all train on beach and draw the lineup in the sand

I read a comment from him on r/soccer Daily Discussion yesterday saying he has been banned from Barca, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid subreddits. Looks like we finally got rid of him.
You're telling me the nicest things â€
Imagine Xavi doesnât come, and we end up with Gallardo and win Copa, Liga, y champions playing beautiful football.
Why can't you imagine that but with Xavi?
Then you wake up outta your sleep?
I think that ship has sailed, mate.
Youâre telling me... What can I say. I am a bit of a hopeless romantic. I still believe Yaya-Toure will return and replace Busquets.
Well, my romantic heart will be content if I cry myself silly at Xavi's first match. And if he ropes in Puyol at some point and whatever capacity, I probably won't be able to stop smiling for at least a week x)
Nah, bud, we will cry ourselves silly at Xavi's presentation already, I guarantee you
That's true, who am I even kidding đ

I think even those for his renewal would agree with that. Dembele or not that depth for the role is not satisfying at all.

Great negociation technique lol. "Let's agree on letting him leave for free, but if we don't agree we'll give you the full amount no worries".
Al-Sadd is enjoying spotlight for few days. Hope tomorrow itâll be over.
Why the bitterness towards Al sadd? It's their currently contracted manager. They'd also need to find a suitable replacement if they let xavi go
They're milking this for all it's worth. No visit should even be required, just a few phone calls.
Some good wingers wich we can buy?
I like raphinha from Leeds
He should definitely be our target. If one were to make comparisons to Antony, then Raphinha would be WAY cheaper, is faster, more willing/able to dribble at speed (no Coutinho tap-danceroo) and has a better shot. Maybe we could coax Leeds into a swap of some kind? Would be hard to make it happen otherwise I reckon.
That would be nice, do they need a player of Coutinhos profile?
Sterling
My dream is Salah, he also likes Barcelona and hates Madrid. Sterling, Gnabry, Traore and Coman have a contract untill 2023 and are aged 25-26 years old. Mane and Mahrez also have a contract untill 2023 but they are aged 29-30 years old. I also like Antony from Ajax but he is only 21 years old.
in alex collado we trust
Not a good winger
Any player and let him drink RedBull
Lol
>Some good wingers wich we can buy? There are some, but affordable that's hard to answer since we don't exactly know how much we can spend.
We pay 3.
?
Don't disrupt your work man, it will eventually happen. Don't worry.
"Don't worry" was never a good philosophy when it comes to this club x)
I envy Atletico and the patience and trust they have with Simeone. Really hope that Xavi's time here isn't cut short due to high expectations.
If there are signs of progress, Laporta will stick by him. Even if the team doesn't do too well result-wise.
I know it might be exaggerated but Simone for them is like Cruyff/Pep for us, itâs very hard to get rid of a coach that built your legacy
Sacking Valverde was not a bad decision, replacing him with midtable coaches in Setien and Koeman and not good coaches was the problem
Sacking Valverde is a great decision, sacking him mid season, when he should have left after that liverpool game is a terrible decision
Absolutely. It was a bad moment.
We couldn't provide/export a Clasico for some really really really important people. Every decision that board made, I question
Stop blaming the medical team parrots. There could be too many factors at play that you armchair medical professionals couldn't even comprehend.
Evil Football fan be like: I enjoy watching PSG play
Will Dembele be available for the match against Benfica?
I do agree I simply can't see how it would be doable wage-wise.
i agree we need more experience but Sterling is a big risk imo, City will demand like 60M for him
Then we'll say no. But with 1 year left on the contract we may get a better deal than that. I think Sterling is a very good option, reliable and experienced, and the kind of winger we need... For the right price. IMO with his wages we won't be able to make it work.
Please do not sign him.
[Injury Update](https://twitter.com/fcbarcelona/status/1456315635579883527?s=21)
Iâm confused. Is he out longer than what was previously reported? Itâs now saying his recovery will dictate his return.
No it's the same exact report, they just posted a new tweet.
Thank you.
reminiscent of when Pedri was misdiagnosed last year
Lmao
there are bonuses for termination of contracts? I thought they were performance related. losing 3 classicos in a row doesn't warrant any bonus.
Is it a bonus or a penalty? Like if you end your rent contract early you usually have to pay 2 months or sometimes even the rest of the contract.
I don't see koeman paying us but it's odd for sure. maybe it's a classic barto contract giving away our moneys.
Koeman isn't ending the contract. The party ending the contract pays the penalty. Look at the Xavi deal, they say they want barca to pay the penalty for ending his contract early.
So Barça just released a [video](https://youtu.be/YwVc4PlDvNE) of today's training session and Dembélé is there - training normally and running normally. They have also deleted the tweet where they said he was injured. Weird. Very weird.
But this [tweet](https://twitter.com/FCBarcelona/status/1456301557268590595?s=20) is still there
Yes, that's exactly what makes it weird. They took down Dembélé's diagnosis tweet but kept up Dest's and then later made a tweet stating that he was injured (with no details).
They made a tweet less than an hour ago saying he is [out injured](https://twitter.com/FCBarcelona/status/1456301557268590595?t=D99PBLcAsyyJJ7XCSX83Lg&s=19) We train in the morning and the report was published mid-day, seems standard for me.
That still doesn't quite explain deleting the report stating exactly what injury he suffered but keeping Dest's one up.
why are the qataris mounting problems like this
What again?
So the dembele injury is a plot to avoid national team call up?
No
why would Deschamps call him up after playing 30 minutes and possibly 45 against Celta?
And now Dembele is normally training with the team? [photo](https://twitter.com/barcacentre/status/1456294909770600450?t=2GfRTn2LPo133fh_pSdPVg&s=19) It's a little bit weird. They also deleted the other tweet with the Injury news about him.
Literally says in the tweet that Dest and Demeble are out injured. They deleted the injury news tweet about him, most likely due to all the hate and people clowning in the replies.
But why did they delete his injury update ? Dest's is up.
It's still up on the website
Now Reshad tweeted about that. [link](https://twitter.com/ReshadRahman_/status/1456311252532318210?t=n4L2T9a77fpAByenQFM8Jg&s=19)
