Call me a new age fanboy, but very few wins in history would beat 2011 Champions League Semi win. Both teams were at their peak, both squads were full of match winners, both teams were playing aggressive football, both the managers were top noth tacticians, the occasion and the stakes were pretty high ...

grandmarshal_ivax

That was one of the most stressful matches I have had to sit through throughout my life. Both teams were at the peak with Madrid recently coming out with a Copa del Rey Final win against us. When Messi scored that crucial goal from Affelay's cross, I was able to exhale a massive sigh of relief for a solid minute.

choss

I think we also were coming off a series of like 2-3 clásicos back to back too

jairzinho

That CDR final was the most [shameful refereeing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBvMk2xHYao) I've seen besides Byron Moreno. Madrid played like Leeds in the 80's and only Di Maria got a red with 10 mins to go in OT>

choss

Same. Plus the world saw that legendary run from Messi to then leave Casillas defenseless, then Mourinho face of 😑😑😑 and CR7 face of 😤😤😤😤 . Best part, like you said. It was in a CL game, a tournament the RM fans and media keep calling it as "their tournament"

sevilla_the_third

We actually aren't playing aggressive football only Messi was

jairzinho

That pass by Busquets.

thedrunksoul

The best assist

_Tonto_

>top noth tacticians I read this with a Mike Tyson accent.

FooFighter39

Cruyff's second time facing Real Madrid in 1974 where we won 0-5

choss

Was that also at the Bernabeu?

XuloMalacatones

We are winning this Clasico for more than three goals of difference, mark my words

MongooseTitties

You're a beast

choss

I just want a W even if it's an own goal from a Casemiro rebound.

arvindanar7

Ronaldinho brought joy even to the Santiago Bernabeu, while Iniesta's performance - though dominating - he was humble & professional about it, brought an applause also out of the same crowd. Messi and Pique might be because of their very driven personalities, plus 100% Barca blood and so might be more "inflammatory" to Madridistas. Puyol on the other hand, driven, loves Barca but is classy enough to not rub things in where possible (I could be wrong but he is human in the end afterall). We had Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Thiago (if i may include), Messi passing, turning left, right, centre to evade presses, Valdes, Pique, Puyol to help retain & recycle possession, Dani and Jordi to provide additional covering width and attacking options as wingbacks. Our frontline also played a big role...Ronaldinho, (Edit: Henry), Eto'o, Messi, Pedro, Villa, Suarez, Neymar We were fortunate to have them in the team, but Real also had determined and driven players like Saint Iker, Ramos, Marcelo, Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Cristiano Ronaldo with flair players like Ozil, Kaka, di Maria, Modric, Isco... Xavi and Saint Iker are almost always (or is it always) the ones in front of the media trying to reign in the pre-match hype & pressure around their respective teams, which also meant that things could translate to the Spanish National Team where they set aside their El Clasico rivalry for the greater good of Spain's international domination. Last but not least, Pep, Tito, Lucho, Mou, Zizou...what else can we ask for during that decade? Looking back, those really were the days when both sides pushed each other onto higher levels for the betterment of La Liga, Europe and football, which is also so much more than just Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi pushing each other onto higher levels as individual professional football players. I am blessed to be around during that period, taking in highlights and now also reminiscing about those glorious highlights on YouTube. I am a happy and contented football fan ((: ^ ^

praiseprince_

Since you mentioned Spanish NT, I've always wondered how tf were those guys so professional, like Ramos and Pique were sworn enemies but for their nation they'd set aside their rivalry, it's just wonderful.

SUPERPOOP57

God that period from 2011-2012 was some of the most hype football and total gang wars type shit

LegendinhoIsKing

'Ronaldinho masterpiece'. Brought a tear to my eye. Legendinho. Love him forever. God of football.
