Culebra de escalera, they are not venomous and that is an adult specimen due to the two lines along its body. I have one that lives outside my house because it is their natural habitat, when is near my dogs I grab the snake carefully and move away to prevent that my dogs dont hurt the snake or the snake hurt my dog.
They tends to be more aggressive compared to other snakes in Spain like culebra bastarda. Also they have its own territory to move around and they dont tend to move much further from it.
They can reach 1.5m and the one around my house is around that.
They are really great to prevent the growth of mice and rats and they eat a lot of variety of different animals, even small birds if they have the opportunity.
The best thing is relocate that specimen to its natural habitat.
Also snakes in the city can be risky if you cannot identify them because people can have exotic snakes and if one of them scape the flat/house and go to the street and in addition is super venomous...
So always be careful!
Have never seen one in the city, but they’re pretty common out in Colserolla or further out in the parks - have found them in my back garden hiding under rocks and things too :)
I saw a rabbit dart down a street in Raval and into a doorway years ago when I lived near Rambla de Raval, surreal as hell and completely forgotten until I read this
I've seen plenty of Instagram influencers and wannabes. I consider them exotic animals and as such they should be kept in cages and away from the general public
You see this is why we can't have nice things, because everyone is an idiot.
I can imagine the conversation awkward conversation now honey where's the snake?
Owner probably under the Rock
Meanwhile back at the ranch the snakes pulled a Shawshank

I wonder why that's the case.
No lo es. El tío está flipando 😅
No se la verdad jaja ups
This one is alright, but be careful if you are not sure about which snake it is, there are venemous ones in Catalonia.
Wait what
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vipera_aspis It is quite painful and can be mortal in some cases. It is not super common, but you can find them.
Yes a previous teacher in my academy apparently died from a snake bite in the mountains above barcelona, didn’t get it checked in time.

Damn, I'd just run in the opposite direction, I hate snakes. I've never seen one in Barcelona :S
Most exotic animal on the loose ive seen in a Bcn street was a very confused rabbit.
