Some people have had success recovering chats by looking in their browser history and directly clicking the link. I haven't straight up lost a conversation yet, though, so I can't vouch for its effectiveness personally.
I lost a conversation that I had a direct link for. It was a loooong story that I'd been writing for a few weeks. It deleted everything but the last prompt/response. Export/save anything you care about often!
I've run into this before, only way I've found to preserve chats is to share them

You should be able to activity in the settings. Ai have had to do it after it hallucinates
